For now, her travel had been rather calm. Not that much trouble, but that was probably mostly because the holy men had been keeping any possible disturbing elements away from the Saint's lands. She smiled to herself as she kept herself traveling at the side of the road, clenching her staff under her robes. She had not met that many people along the road for now, and she had been traveling for about a day or two. Her first destination was the cathedral of Fizzart. Father had ensured her that she would gain rest at any of the churches in the holy land...
Although he did mention that outside of the holy land she could have much trouble finding rest without encountering those unfaithful or perhaps even... Sinful.
She had almost visually flinched at the idea when Father had presented it to her, but as always his gentle smile and mannerisms kept her calm trough the whole ordeal, and she still remembered how tears had rolled down his eyes when she finally left her home for her pilgrimage. She would be missing Father's guidance, but his words still rung in her ear. "Little girl, little girl... The saint will always be with you in your heart. Never forget her grace in your travels. Never succumb to sin."
She would not. She made a promise to Father, and she would keep it until she would return or if the Saint deemed her worthy of a end during her travels. She would do no sin and only do pious things.
The town of Fizzart could be seen in the distance.

"Yuck", spoke Orcleous as he sniffed his black cloak. The cloth still smelled like fish. He always hated riding inside of fish barrels, but it was the only way for a outsider like himself to get inside of Etruia these days. Security around the land seemed to have increased in the coming days. Probably a response to the bandit attacks on the city of Heroes. Things have been quite chaotic in the plains of late. The only way for you to get inside now, well other than actually being a citizen of Etruia, would be to enter through the sea rout. Of course you would need a passport and such to get inside, but Orcleous knew a way from the time he was with the Crimson Blades. The mercenary hid inside of a barrel and had a merchant fill the top of it with fish. He acted as if he was cargo and once inside the boarder he went on his merry way.
"Well at the very lest it is safer here", spoke Orcleous aloud as he looked around at the peaceful landscape. Trouble is what drove Orcleous in Etruia's direction. He had run into a few guys apart of the Crimson Blades, that same group that taught him how to sneak into the holy country was also after his life. They took failure very seriously and Orcleous needed a break from them for a while. The wise mercenary figured they would not have any bases here. Sure from time to time they would sneak in to do a job or two, but they never actually had a foot hold here. The politics were too solid and the people to clean clean. People like the Crimson Blades could not survive in these conditions.
"So lets see", spoke the mercenary as he pulled out a map. At the bottom of it was the initials EPJ for Etruria's port Jurisdiction. "The town of Fizzart seemed like a lovely destination." It is apparently a holy city one visited by pilgrims. It seemed like a good place to take a breather from the outside world. The mercenary was getting tired of all the bloodshed and killing. He could use a few weeks of true peace. Not worried about monsters magically showing up out of no where. That seemed to be a bad habit of his. Orcleous was always running into monsters.

Roads, roads, roads, and even more roads. That's all Flynn seemed to see anymore. That and the occasional city or town he happened across. The swordsman never stayed long, though. They were too crowded and too loud. He wasn't used to it. No one ever seemed to have any work for a mercenery in any of the towns. So that was his life for the past few days. Ride into town, ask any merchant he saw if they needed an escort until he got a headache from the noise, then ride out of town. His horse, Cuddy, was a good sport about it, managing through the thick crowds and trotting down the roads all day. He patted the horse's neck.
"Don't worry, buddy," he said. "I'll find some work soon, then you can rest." Cuddy shook his head and snorted. Flynn returned his attention to the road, but his thoughts still wandered. He suspected the reason no one had any jobs needed done was because they didn't want him to do it. They were wary of any outsiders, especially Sacaens. He had barely made it into Etruria in the first place. He was slightly offended that they seemed to equate all outsiders with bandits, but the mercenary could see where they were coming from. Difficult times called for difficult decisions.
The young man scanned the horizon again. His eyes caught the shapes of buildings out in the distance. Another town. Maybe work. Flynn spurred Cuddy and the horse took off towards the town.

Her long steps took her ever so closer to Fizzart, and to her first real destination... Her only KNOWN destination. She knew the land of Etruria from the studies she had done well enough, but she for the life of her could not remember where all the cities were located. So, after Fizzart she would need to ask for directions and possibly even try and find her way alone. But, she was sure that the Saint would keep her steps light and on the right path towards her goals.
Once she finally managed to find her way to the town, she was struck with a sight that surprised her. The streets were for the most part empty, even when Father had told her that the city would be bubbling with life. It was not the largest town, and she was told many pilgrims came by here as a rest stop, yet she did except SOME life here. She clenched her staff closer as she went to the nearby door and knocked, only to hear a woman's scream and someone yelling to go and try to keep the door closed. She recoiled away visibly as she heard that, shivering a bit now.
What would they need to keep the doors closed for...
Her ears flickered as she listened for a moment. "Har... Har har hardidihar, har." She clenched her teeth together. "Oh, for hells sake, stop trying to do that stupid pirate thing, Bors. We're not pirates, we're bandits." She slowly but surely backed away into a shaded corner to hide herself. "Ah, I know, I know... You do not have to be so cruel, Barst. The boys are away at the other side of the town, just robbing along..." She'd need to get out of here. How did these bandits get into the holy land?!
She could feel someone tugging her collar as she was suddenly lifted up, the man called Barst staring at her. "Hello there."

A group of Etruria soldiers lead by a man named Seraph Alastor had been riding for what felt like years through the country. What was their purpose of doing this exactly? They were tasked with a simple mission of checking towns and villages and making sure whatever was plaguing other nations such as random monster appearances and a rising surge of bandits would not scar Etruria. So far their journey had been quite peaceful, much to the dismay of some of the soldiers, not a monster or bandit in sight. It goes to show just how different Etruria was from the rest of the world.
While most would find this a blessing all this did was put Seraph in an on edge mood. He knew the terrible truth that most were ignorant to and he knew the other reason as to their journey. Kraft's influence was strong but there was still the occasional rebel, the occasional person willing to go against him. It was Seraph's job to stomp any of that out if he were to come across any of it and the perpetrators could be considered a serious threat. He doubted that they would find any of that in the next town that they were going to, which was also their last destination.
Fizzart would be the last destination for now and it was a peaceful place from what Seraph remembered. Something was odd however, Fizzart was known for its rather lively atmosphere as pilgrims would often pass through, so why did it feel like a ghost town. The group of soldiers stopped in front of the entrance of the town, waiting for what their orders would be from their leader. Seraph didn't like this, it felt like they were walking into a trap. "Everyone stay here, I'll go in first and make sure everything is alright," Seraph would say as he hopped down from his horse.
He could hear groans and sighs coming from his men, which was to be expected seeing how the first sign of possible action and they're told to wait. "Don't worry, if there's any bandits or monsters needing to be slain I'll be sure to signal you. Though if I'm not back in ten minutes feel free to come in after me," He said looking back to his men before wandering off into the town. Hopefully this was just his paranoia getting the best of him and nothing was wrong in this town.
That was at least what he wanted to think until he heard screams. The man moved fast through the streets looking for the source of the scream, lance or sword ready to do battle. He stopped in his tracks as he heard talking, but from where exactly? Something was definitely going on here that was obvious, he'd soon call for the rest of his men but first he had to see what exactly he was dealing with. After walking around for a bit more he found himself coming up to something rather odd but confirmed his suspicions.
Seeing a man holding up a much smaller girl wasn't something you say everyday but it was pretty clear to Seraph why no one was out and about. The man would loudly clear his throat to grab the attention of everyone so they would focus on him. "I do hope I'm not interrupting something but I dare say that I'm sure that's not how you talk to someone. Most people do it without lifting another off their feet. Unless however you're from a place where common manners do not exist and is traded for barbarianism in which case good job. Believe she'd prefer to have her feet on the ground though," The man clad in white armor would say with a cheeky grin on his face.

"Finally Civilization", spoke Orcleous to himself. His words were contrary to his facial expressions. The town was dead, but not literally. Orcleous has been into a town filled with walking dead people, but this one was not so. In fact it was almost the opposite. There was nobody in the streets, no activity, no talking, and not even a single beggar. What in the world was going on, thought Orcleous to himself. It was like a recurring nightmare. Orcleous could not count how many times he wondered into a silent city and ended up attacked by some horror. The first time it was zombies, the second time it was bandits, and the last time before this it was giant spiders. Etruria is suppose to be both bandit and monster free land, but the state of the town did not agree. Maybe this was the time for some kind of inspection? Maybe everyone was inside of their homes? Maybe there was a curfew? How was he suppose to know? It was not Orcleous first time in Etrulia, but it was his fist time entering a real town.
Suddenly Orcleous heard a sound and all of his theories of piece were thrown out the window. Orcleous was not one to rush into battle for free, but he was not one to simply let somebody die with him right there. Orcleous placed his hand on the hilt of his sword and rushed around the street. As he turned the corner he saw a man holding a young girl up by her collar and another man in pure white armor. The sight of that man was almost blinding as the sun reflected off it and shinned toward Orcleous eyes.
It is funny how the Knights of the holy land wore white and the soldiers of Bern wore a bloody red. Etruria like to represent purity, while the people of Bern like to represent blood. By blood we are born and by blood we leave the world, that was a old saying of the guards who guarded Orcleous hometown as a boy. In current times Bern seemed to be a complete representation of that saying. The bandits, monsters, and the rebellion going on. Bern is drenched in blood and Orcleous was starting to doubt that would ever change.
"What is going on here", spoke Orcleous drawing his sword from its sheath. He did not enjoy the sight of a maiden being lifted in the air, nor did he like the atmosphere the town was in. Orcleous came here for vacation, not to be hounded by the same troubles of the land outside. Dradix, The Fiery Dragon Blade, erupted into fire. The blade almost represented Orcleous anger as it danced just above the ground. His magical sword made a clear statement on where the mercenary stood. He was not going to take any mess.

Cuddy galloped quickly into the town. Flynn looked around at the seemingly empty buildings and streets. The town looked dead, but the young swordsman could see people peeking out of cracks in their windows. He wondered why they were hiding. What was going on? The Sacaen looked forward again and his horse galloped a short distance more before Flynn saw a bright flash of gleaming armor. He pulled back on Cuddy's reins, rearing the horse up. The young man took in the scene before him.
A man, most likely a bandit, held a young woman up by her collar. A man in red stood with a flaming sword stood to one side and a man in shining white armor stood to another. Flynn raised an eyebrow in question. "What is going on here?" he shouted as he dismounted his horse. He quickly drew his sword as most of the group had their weapons out. He glared at the bandit with the girl in his hands. He pointed his sword at the man. "Set her down now and walk away. We can avoid senseless bloodshed." The swordsman gestured to the other men before continuing, "As you can see, we have you outnumbered."
Flynn was tempted to strike now, but the woman was in a tight spot at the moment. Any sudden movements in the wrong direction could lead to her death. He gripped the hilt of his sword a little tighter, his muscles tightened and ready to strike when the time was right.

"... What." It was a pretty good reaction from Barst as he kept hold to Miriam. Three wannabe heroes out of nowhere pointing things like swords and a spear at him. It was as if the gods themselves had thrown a mighty amount of trash into the working cogs of this operation. He looked around shiftily for a moment back into the alley he had been drinking at with his brother. Bors was already there, ready with his steel axe as he nodded to Barst. The bandit proceeded to turn his head back to the three "heroes" with a slight grin on his ugly mug.
"You want the girl? Come and get her." He grinned as he slowly backed down into the alley with his axe now on Miriam's throat. He then proceeded to open the door of a house that was in the alley, pushing her in before slamming the door closed. He then turned his head to his brother, moving his hand over his mouth as a sign of silence as the two then backed into the shadows. If the heroes would come, they would get a very nasty surprise from either them... Or their boys, when they return.
Miriam, meanwhile, had been screaming the whole way trough. Bandits in the holy land, trying to... To kill people! She gasped for air as she was showed inside the house, tears flowing from from her eyes finally as she realized that she could breathe safe. But all around her were... Well. Lots of people really, all women it seems, some with major injuries.
She hoped her staff would be enough for this.

Everything would have gone smoothly, everything would have gone exactly as Seraph had planned it to go but there were a few "problems" that arrived. Had Seraph expected it he might have been able to plan around it but now he would have to improvise. The arrival of two swordsmen had distracted Seraph for a moment, and had also irritated him. It wasn't uncommon to see youth try and step up to protect someone, everyone wanted to be a hero in their life at some point. This was Etrurian land and Seraph would be damned before he let two random people take over and do his job.
They picked a horrible time to show up, Seraph had everything under control and now he was going to have to stage a full blown rescue. He kept his cool as the girl was dragged off, only slightly paying attention to one of the new arrivals as his sword was definitely an interesting sight. It wasn't very often that you run into someone with a magic weapon. Still it only caught his interest for a second as now he had to think of how to handle the situation. By now his men were probably getting a bit restless, and Seraph could use their help.
The man donned in white armor did not try to make a hasty rescue as it would probably only lead into a trap. No, he waited patiently as the man backed up into the building which despite what he might think only made things easier for Seraph. The man had cornered himself in there unless there was a back exit and regardless there wasn't many places he could go. Seraph would have to handle this carefully as he wanted to avoid anyone getting hurt of course. Still, with these two unknown people it might be a bit difficult.
"He could have made this easy for himself but now…," The blonde male sighed as he turned to the other two. "My name is Seraph Alastor, a commander in the Etrurian Army and I don't know who either of you two are but this is Etrurian business and while I am impressed with your bravery there is no need to get involved," Well there was a way that they could still get involved but it might be a bit of a hassle. "Unless you're both willing to take orders from me I suggest you stand down," Seraph was in no mood to deal with mercenaries if that's who these two really were.
Sellswords were always looking for ways to make money and saving someone was a good way to get them in your debt. If they were nothing more than low lives looking for a quick way to make some coin Seraph wanted nothing to do with them. The man would then but his index finger and thumb in the corner of his mouth before letting out a high pitched whistle which would signal for his men to find his location. From the sounds of it his men probably didn't listen to him when he told them to wait as the sounds of horses moving through the streets could be heard not far from where they were.
They had no time to waste but Seraph wanted to know where the two other men stood. They could be useful to Seraph if they decided to join him. Though it might sound cruel Seraph was planning on using them as distractions as to lessen the possibly of any casualties on his side. Besides if there were any traps waiting for them it would be a lot easier on his conscious if these two were the only ones to get hurt or worse. Sure it was cold but the reality of life in this world.

"Retreating to the shadows like cowards", spoke Orcleous. The mercenary was not in the best of moods nor was he foolish enough to simply follow them. The knight in shinning armor seemed to think he had everything under control. His facial expression told enough at least, but he was truly underestimating the attitude of the crimson clad mercenary in front of him. Today was not a day to make coin, nor was today a day Orcleous wanted to chase bandits into a dark alleyway. It seemed the bandits had forgotten that Orcleous had a magical sword. If they thought running into the shadows of a dark would save them they were wrong. With the fair maiden being dragged inside of the building that meant that Orcleous no longer had to hold back. He did not have to worry about burning her alive. He could now use the full power of the Fiery Dragon Blade with having to hold back.
As Orcleous prepared himself to attack he felt the blade pulsate. The sword was always in the mood to turn somebody into ash. The legend behind the sword was that its spirit use to belong to a great fire dragon that once fought against the heroes of the scowering. Orcleous was not sure if this was true, but the sword took great pleasure when he released its flames against his fellow man. Orcleous could feel the sword agreeing with him as he made his decision.
"Cowardly rat", spoke Orcleous to the bandits that moved into the shadow. "If you think darkness will be your alley they you are a fool. Burn now and become ashes", as Orcleous finished speaking he swung his sword in a horizontal slash. The blade exploded into flames as a massive ball of fire and a bone chilling roar erupted from the flames and flew into the dark alleyway the others had retreated to. Orcleous stared on as the fire exploded and began to dance about.
"So you want to take charge", spoke Orcleous to the knight in shinning armor. He did not bother to turn around. Instead he watched were the fire had hit. The shadows were temporary illuminated by the flames, but Orcleous wanted to see if he had truly hit somebody. "Very well I will follow under you command Knight", spoke Orcleous. The crimson clad mercenary did not want any trouble from the authorities. He had already infiltrated the nation without a pass he did not need to have the authorities against him. "So what is our first move commander?"

Flynn glared at the bandit as he backed into the alley way with the screaming woman. The young man was tempted to attack. He could do it. He was certain that he was fast enough to reach the bandit and take him down before he could react. But he didn't. Flynn held himself back. There were the other bandits and any rash decision to end in someone's death. So he watched the woman be dragged into the shadows and disappear into a house. Fantastic. Now they had the advantage.
Flynn rolled his eyes when the knight, Seraph, started talking. Great. Now he had to deal with this high and mighty wind bag. He looked at Seraph, "That's excellent for you. You seemed to have full control of this situation. That's why the bandit has the woman and why they were even attacking the town in the first place. Really fantastic job you've done." Flynn really disliked some knights. They could be very holier than thou simply because they held a title to their name and had a kingdom sponsoring them. He sighed heavily, "So be it. Tell us what you want to do."
Flynn watched the other mercenary shoot flames from his sword to light up the alley way. A little dramatic, but it gave the mercenary an idea. He looked to the others. "What if we tried lighting up the house and assessing the situation by sending someone into the lit up house. They get in and out before the bandits can even react."

"BLOODY BAGPIPES!" Was the only thing that could be heard as the fireball was thrown into the alleyway. But then there was nothing, no death screams nor anything, meaning the fire had sadly missed the bandits. Lucky for them, not so lucky for the group of heroes.
Or well, if it motivated the heroes at all, Barst's beard had been set aflame for a few seconds before he had managed to put it out. The bandit gritted his teeth as he felt his beard that had shortened a lot because of the fire. He would get his vengeance, oh yes he would. He kept his axe ready as he waited with Bors. They were not stupid, oh saint no. Why jump out when you could wait for the fools to come to you... Or just to wait until the boys return.
Speaking of the boys, the three could possibly hear a very loud stomping noise coming towards them. On some closer listening they might even notice that it was just not one person stomping, but multiple. And it was coming closer... The rest of the bandits were coming from the other end of town. They'd need to act soon or they would be facing a lot of bandits.
Meanwhile, Miriam had gotten to healing people inside the house. On further questioning it seems that the bandits had first come as mercenaries to deal with some problems, but after the villagers could not pay up for their prices... It made her sick.

Seraph was pleased to hear that one of the mercenaries seemed agreeable. The other one on the other hand Seraph could care less about. While one appeared to be an experienced fighter, and had a magic weapon, the other seemed like an arrogant child who enjoys playing hero and getting in the way of actual progress when it comes to the adult world. Regardless they would both listen to his command and that's all Seraph wanted though he wasn't completely sure what their next course of action should be and the one suggested to him didn't seem all that thought out.
"If we set the building on fire we have no idea of how fast the fire were to spread nor would we know if we were putting anyone else in danger such as the woman they took. There's no guarantee in that situation anything will go right and we don't know what's waiting for us in there so a fire might just cause more havoc than needed. Best not to risk a innocent's life with an idea like that," Seraph said, replying to the red headed youth. It was about this time that Seraph's men finally reached them, all of them eager to get some action now.
It didn't take long for Seraph to explain the situation to them and now that there were more people here it would be easier to come up with a plan. Quite honestly Seraph could go in there on his own and deal with the problem easily but he felt like this might be the smarter decision. He went to the twins who were a pair of heavily armored units who just so happened to be actual twins. Whenever the group needed someone to hold down the fort or provide some defense they were always the ones to go to.
"Here's the plan; the twins here will move in first and enter the building with us behind them. Whatever they have planned won't work as long as we have these two heavily armored tanks in front of us. After we get inside we take out any bandits and make sure the hostage is safe," Seraph explained after getting the twins to gather with him and the mercenaries. Before Seraph would begin their little operation he heard what sounded like stomping not far from them. Great, this probably meant more bandits that they would have to deal with.
Seraph turned to the rest of his men, they would be getting the action that they had wanted. "Alright boys! While I'm taking care of the bandits in the building it sounds like you'll be getting the action you've wanted. No one makes it in this building and no one makes it past you. When I get out I not only want to see you triumphant but also no causalities! That understood?!" There was a loud "Hoorah!" from Seraph's men after he said this. It was always nice to see his men moved by his words, it was never something Seraph thought he'd be able to do.
"Are you all ready? We'll have to move quickly," He began before turning to the mercenary with the flaming sword. "Sorry I don't know your name but can I ask that you stay closes to the twins? With your weapon you'll be able to provide better support than I or the other swordsmen. Don't worry about what might happen in there, I promise that we're all coming out of there alive," If it had to come to it Seraph would sacrifice himself for others to live, hell it might even make things easier for him.

A quick response, thought Orcleous as he saw the knights arrive. If it was Bern it would have probably taken them several days, or they might have not arrived at all. The whole situation made Orcleous wounder why things were so chaotic in Bern. Sure things are going crazy with the rebellion and all the other stuff going on, bug from what he knew of his nation history it has always been a thing of chaos. Bandits always roamed the hills and war was always being fought over something. If it was not for control of the throne or land it was petty arguments between noblemen. War never really ceased in Bern. Here however it seemed things were more at peace, disregarding the group of bandits now terrorizing the village.
The sound of thundering boots made Orcleous a bit uneasy. The knight seemed confident that his men could handle the situation, but Orcleous was not a hundred percent sure. The Knights might be outnumbered and despite what they thought Bandits were still a actual threat. They may have spent their entire lives training and practicing in armor, but Bandits fighting in rough terrain and kill regularly. Plus many of them carried axes. Axes were the superior weapon between it and lances. Still that was a thought for another time. There was a job to do.
"Orcleous is the name, Orcleous the Red", spoke the mercenary as he looked at the white knight. "Save your worries knight for your own men. I have been through much worse than a few bandits held up inside of a building. Compared to some of the things I have seen out there this ain't nothing. We will storm in and get the job done."
With that said Orcleous moved over to the twin knights and moved with them to make their assault. The knights moved in first breaking through the door and Orcleous was right after them. The mercenary was not a friend of the dark. As Orcleous moved in his blade lit up like a torch illuminating all around him.

Flynn stared at Seraph for a moment. He honestly thought that Flynn had meant to shoot fire into the building? The youth was about to continue to and further explain his idea, but he decided to keep his mouth shut. He doubted that Seraph would even listen to him. The young man hoped it didn't end in any of the three men's deaths.
"Name's Flynn," he said without being asked. He looked over to the white knight's men. Lances and lances as far as the eye could see. That wouldn't be very helpful with the usual axes that bandits wielded. "I'll stay back here with your men. Not that they aren't trustworthy enough to handle themselves, but I can provide some assistance with a more advantageous weapon against axes."
Flynn watched as the men walked into the building. He wished them good luck before walking over to the rest of Seraph's men. They were preparing for the coming fight and gave him disdainful looks. He scowled back at the soldiers. They didn't think he could hold his own in battle. Flynn would show them. The sound of loud footsteps drew his attention. The bandit group was coming over the crest of a hill. Flynn watched the knights form up. That wouldn't hold for long against axes. He looked around at the buildings and found a few boxes stalked against one. He ran over and scrambled up the boxes to the rooftop. The young man crouched low against the roof, hiding himself as best he could.
