Astraeus was a sight that few wanted to see charging to them. However most of the brigands were too gormless to actually acknowledge that. Perfect. Stupid brigands were dead brigands. Ilheod instantly tucked his legs as he guided Astraeus to the closest two approaching bandits. From the corner of his eye he noticed the knights fast approaching. He felt no concern however because they were clearly just that; knights. Knights wouldn't attack innocents while bandits attacked. If he was wrong, he would turn his lance to the oath breakers as well. The two men seemed to make the fatal mistake of attempting to ignore the Wyvern Lord. They only looked up when the shadow of the fast approaching draconic mount darkened the sky above them. One lifted his ax while the other shouted with an attempted threat. Ilheod tucked his body and snarled as Astraeus landed upon one of the men.
The howls of pain as powerful claws tore into flesh and muscle; fangs that snapped shut with jaws breaking bone soon caused the shouts to turn into wet gargles as the man's mouth frothed. While Astraeus tore one to pieces, Ilheod skewed another with his silver spear brushing through his attempted parry and puncturing his left pectoral. A blow directly to the heart. Retracting his arm he slashed the air with his silver spear to clear it of blood. Ilheod turned, and guided Astraeus to the villagers but kept his Wyvern ground based for a moment. He needed the villagers to hear him and understand they were safe. As he turned about, he noticed the younger girl from before setting upon a brigand. The captain nodded briefly with a grin. That was good. Now she'd find something worth fighting for. Ilheod waved his spear as brigands made their approach ignoring the fact that three of their own had fallen instantly. He shouted to be heard clearly as his wyvern ran along side the men but at a distance to prevent scaring the horses into frenzy.
"Everyone! Stay besides the wagons and keep close! Do not separate or you'll fall to too many to protect!"
After a few moments he tucked his knees and directed his wyvern to take to the air once more. Astraeus flapped his wings hard and soared upwards high into the sky. He circled around and turned to dive roughly; this time however picking a bandit clean from the ground with Astraeus grabbing a hold of him only to dangle him into the air. It was a gruesome site but it would distract the others. Ilheod tapped the wyvern's helm as they raced quickly past the sword wielding men trying to block them ahead. The body now made corpse upon landing practically upon them would distract them. However as he looked to the ax wielding mongrels he could see their leader charging now with the remaining ones to hit them from behind. The knights had already charged past presumably to clear the road ahead. Ilheod snarled and guided his wyvern towards them. He would strike them, even if it was a three to one fight. Protecting the innocents came first.

I wasn't too hard to scatter the unorganized and undisciplined bandit. It was enough to run toward them with a spear brandished and armored horse. Melvina's spear pierced through a bandit's chest as she broke into their pathetic blockade. Her other hand moved in unison and pulled the reins as she pulled the spear out the bleeding chest of the dead bandit, telling her horse, Shiva, to gallop and then make a sharp turn. The key for this battle was to move constantly to avoid getting mobbed, which something a rider could easily do.
The knight-captain of Santaruz wasn't sure whether she had to rejoice or curse when another wyvern rider appeared. But after an unfortunate bandit was chewed by the flying lizard Melvina seemed to relax and stop thinking them as threat. An ally of the first wyvern rider probably... This female wyvern rider seemed to quite strong and had good understanding with her wyvern despite being younger than Melvina. Again, wyvern riders of Bern proved their ferocity in both the air and the ground, maybe they truly deserved the title "the king of sky" although Ilians would definitely disagree with that statement.
Having used to deal with chaotic situation of battlefield Melvina managed to notice the bandit leader moving toward the villagers. The green-haired knight almost went back to help but then her ally, the man with brown hair, seemed to get the same idea. He was very proficient in battle that his skill only could persuade her to leave protecting the villagers to him. At least, even if he were to fall to the bandits, he would delay them long enough. Now...let focus to her own task. She then charged to the nearest bandit and thrust her spear, aiming for his head. But this one had some skill, he skillfully dodged the spear and countered with a wide slash. Shifting the spear to a vertical position with the sharp edge below, Melvina blocked his blade with the shaft and then followed with a strong twirl to hit the bandit's head with the blunt end of her spear. The man yelped in pain and fell when he got a strong hit on his forehead.
Melvina observed the situation. The blockade had been breached a little but it was still too dangerous for the wagons to ride through it. To be honest, now she wasn't sure she could breach the blockade alone. At least with her fighting them here there would be less bandits aiming for the civilians. She looked up at the brown-haired wyvern rider. "The key is whether he is able to kill the leader or not. Bandits aren't soldiers. They will probably retreat if their leader is dead..." she thought.
Her attention then drifted to the younger wyvern rider, the black knight couldn't help but wonder what the young girl would do next. Would she attack the bandit leader too, move to guard the wagons, or help her?

There was no time to slack off it seemed as a brigand came from behind. Thanks to her training, Zerene had managed to see the man coming and was quick to guide Arman to move forward. They weren't rising quick enough to avoid his jump from what she deduced. The two ended up dashing onto the ground and she managed to command him to whip around as quickly as possible. His tail collided with the man, causing him to stumble backwards in surprise. If her partner was just a big larger, his tail would have easily threw the man back. Unfortunately being a runt always meant that one had to work harder for the same effect.
She was quick to jump off her amount, using her free hand to indicate to Arman on what to next. The wyvern walked to the other side of the man as he began to get up, while Zerene put pressure from his other side. He looked between the two of them, only to decide that they weren't worth the effort. He began to retreat and run off, probably deciding that his life wasn't worth lunch meat. As soon as he turned his back, she was quick to jump back onto her mount and properly fly upwards. As she scanned, she noticed a black armored knight being pressured by the brigrands as well as the wyvern captain heading for the leader.
With a gentle nudge towards her partner, they began to fly forward in hopes of relieving the other knights. She felt as though the man should be able to handle his own. Plus she hardly knew how he fought and it would be better not to invade his air space and get in his way. She began to rise in the air and swoop down on a brigand, causing him his precious concentration. She took careful note of the civilians, making sure that they weren't too close to danger before flying next to one of the knights.
"How is the situation on your side?" she asked, keeping her eyes firmly on the battlefield.

Ilheod shifted on the saddle as he approached the three thugs. The loud roar like shriek of Astareus drew their attention while Ilheod circled around to their right side. The heavily armored wyvern lowered and immediately crashed down upon the man to the right. Though he shouted out in pain as bones broke and skin was punctured by the clawed arms that dug into him only for Astraeus to flap his wings and launch back into the air carrying the man bound in his grip. The Wyvern flipped the man ahead of himself only to snap his mouth viciously to tear at a potion of his body while biting solidly through and leaving a brutalized corpse to fall to the ground as the Wyvern snarled; remains falling from his mouth. The bandit chief and his remaining thug were now entirely fixed on Ilheod.
As he circled around he saw the other wyvern rider moving to support the two knights that had arrived. That was good. They'd be able to fend off more if they stuck to numbers. He was glad the refugees were a bit smarter than what most would have credited them for. The fact that they kept together instead of panicking made him feel a bit more assured. Ilheod turned back to the bandit leader with him snarling as he moved in like a bird of prey. Swooping down low Ilheod aimed for a square blow; shattering the brigands torso by aiming for the crest of his collar bone with the spear. Plunging it into him Ilheod angled to pin him into the ground as he brutally skewered him while his Wyvern slid along the ground and kicked up chunks of dirt and grass as dust rose up around him. Dirt trails were ingrained into the ground as he they turned to face the bandit chief. He could see the hesitation in the man's eyes. Ilheod glared at him with a steel glint and fire in his gaze. He had no respect or mercy for brigands. Ilheod lifted his spear, snarling at the man as Astraeus slowly walked closer to the man who was backing up a bit. He brandished his Ax menacingly yet still looked hesitant to fight. "Any last words you piece of trash? I'm about to run you through and let my wyvern use your bones for a damn chew toy.""
The bandit scoffed as he mustered up his courage. Dumb brutes had that as an asset he supposed. As the man lunged forwards Ilheod lowered his spear swiftly; locking it with the ax even though it meant Ilheod had to apply MUCH more force to hold the parry. Had he let the girl fight him, the struggle might have been more difficult for her to direct the raw strength match. Ilheod however wouldn't let the brute bring his ax down on Astrae's shoulders. Astraeus however could still attack, and he snapped at the man's leg as they struggled. Catching him off guard the Wyvern lifted him by his leg as his teeth sank into the mans leg shaking him around as the man took the butt of his ax and crashed it hard to the side of Astraeus'es head. Ilheod roared in rage and pressed the attack actually practically leaning out of his saddle to skewer the man's shoulder. Being only a glancing blow though the man tumbled backwards before he started to get up again. Ilheod took the moment to tend his wyvern, looking down to pat his neck as the large draconian mount shook the concussive blow off. "You okay bud? " Astareus snarled in response and slowly approached the profusely bleeding man, who was leaning on his strong leg and still trying to maintain a menacing poise.

Melvina pondered before replied to the blue-haired girl. "Not very good. I can use some help." The black knight smirked at the younger girl who so far had been impressing her with her nice combination attack with the wyvern. It was rare to see wyvern rider action in Lycia so Melvina was actually pleased to finally see one. This even made her hope she had some of these capable sky fighters in her army. Adjusting her helmet that had been a bit out of place after some sharp turns, her red eyes met the blue-haired girl's eyes, which interestingly having the same red color. This amused the knight since she didn't meet another red eyes often.
"I suppose you already now that we are outnumbered. If we talk about skill, we are still better than these ruffians but they have small advantage here," Melvina said as she glanced at the direction behind her new friend. She quickly raised her spear and gestured toward a bald brigand in the wyvern rider's right with her other hand. The brigand had a dagger raised and from his movement he seemed to be planning to sneak behind the girls and throw his dagger at one of them. But before his cowardly plan could be put into action Melvina had spotted him creeping behind them and executed fast response by throwing her spear at him. The sneaky brigand didn't have chance to throw his projectile weapon or dodge when the spear pierced his chest and sent him flying away by the impact. "However, their kinds usually freak out easily after a few death. So I guess we have good chance," she said again, smiling. Her current plan was to kill some of these men and hope they would flee out of fear. It was quite tricky but had a fair chance of success with these two skilled wyvern riders with her.
"But if your friend could beat that guy who looks like their leader then our job will be easier. Is he strong?" Actually she didn't really need to ask the last question. Melvina had observed a little of Ilheod fights and so far she was impressed. It was difficult to determine how strong the man actually was but the black knight had assumed he was probably much better than her. "Anyway, you are very good as well. Oh my, is that unnecessary compliment? Sorry..." Melvina ended that sentence with a thin smile and a chuckle as she drew her sword and refocused her attention to the remaining enemies.

The fact that no lance or sword was penetrating her body was a good sign in her book. Truthfully this was one of the first time Zerene spoke to a knight outside of Bern. Mostly, she had kept to herself on the outskirts of towns and had Arman hide if she ever needed to gather supplies and the like. It was rather uncommon for there to be wyvern riders outside of the Bern military trained ones, although she had heard stories of the others. It gave her great deal of relief that the woman was willing to accept her help, otherwise she would have simply flown about and try to terrorize the bandits from above.
“I’ll try to relieve some pressure from your backs,” she offered, guiding Arman to swing themselves around to behind the woman. The cavalry was best known for charging forward and not back for a reason. Horses had to swing around to meet their enemy from behind and that always valuable time not to be wasted on the battlefield. Once again her grandfather’s lessons was helping her survive. Perhaps all the scars and repeated practice was really worth all the suffering.
“I believe he is,” Zerene responded, to the woman’s question. She couldn’t say much for her own skills as she was still a fledgling compared to most soldiers. What she lacked in actual experience, had been currently supplemented with constant drilling and training. Even after she ran away from her militia, she had been rather firm in keeping up with her exercises. At the very least, she had always been combat ready both physically and mentally. All she ever needed was a reason to pick up the lance.
“I’ll just be a hindrance if I invade his air space,” she explained, thinking the man needed more room to fight then she did. She is rather adamant about not becoming a liability while in combat. Sometimes the best thing to do was stay out of another person’s way.
“I’m not all that good to be honest, the only thing going for me is diligence,” she answered rather truthfully. She always had a humble outlook to her way of life and the compliments honestly made her blush. There was very few times she had ever gotten a compliment, even from her grandmother. Not willing to let down the pressure, she nudged her partner forward as they began to fly towards a brigand. Arman let out a rather nasty roar of her own in hopes to stagger the enemy’s progress.

The bandits seemed relentless. As the rider and the two knights cut them down it looked like another one was approaching to take their place. However their numbers were thinning out. A few even paused before moving in. The few wielding swords as opposed to ax's seemed to hang in the back. The brutish ones the first to charge in, only to have gotten cut down by the Wyvern Rider with her wyvern or the two Santaruz Cavaliers. They would have looked to their boss for leadership but what the found was a man now clearly losing a battle against the older Wyvern Lord.
Ilheod's senses were on edge. Every muscle practically bursting as he gripped his spear with tension. He could feel the tension within Astraeus as the wyvern snarled, circling the man. The Barbarian snarled brutishly in return as the former Bern captain leaned forwards. He lowered himself, breathing in deep slow breaths in preparation for the strike. He tucked down and pressed his heels to his Wyvern's side suddenly. Astraeus swiftly lunged forwards to the man as Ilheod lifted and struck downwards piercing his spear down to pin the man and destroy his right shoulder. To his wonder the man had been able to kick off the ground, actually managing to leap high enough to get a foot(his good one) onto the wyvern's head and kick off again. He raised his ax high into the air to bring it down on Ilheod who snarled in response to the bandit chief that howled wildly before he retracted his spear fast enough to lock it with the shaft of the ax under the blade. With only one hand on it though he couldn't fully stop the blow as the bandit sank his ax a few inches into Ilehod's left shoulder.
Blood stained the metal of the ax and he felt the rent chainmail folding as the ax split into his shoulder more. Pain served however to give him the extra surge of strength he needed. Adrenaline at the cold shock pushed him forwards. His other hand gripped his spear and he shoved upwards before lunging to break the man who kept the ax in grip removing it from Ilheod's shoulder. Wincing the captain heabutt the man roughly, his armored head ringing down a concussive blow that knocked the man from his Wyvern as Astraeus let out a loud shrieking roar of rage; able to smell the blood of his rider. The Wyvern set upon the man as he shouted out in rage and pain. Clawed hands ripped him as the wyvern bit into his chest and brutally mutulated him while Ilheod delivered a swift merciless blow with his spear held in his right hand into the man's neck. However that did not seem to sate the wyvern's rage as it ripped an actual limb from the man before mauling him his corpse. It took Ilheod whistling to snap the mount from it's rage.
Leaning back in his saddle he let his left arm go limp to avoid putting weight on it. Wrapping the reins around his right wrist before reclasping his spear he guided the wyvern to move on foot to the group to avoid risking falling off wounded in flight.
The sword wielding bandits fled as they saw the third approach. Save for four Ax wielding brutes, the remaining brigands had been slain or fled.

Melvina didn't watch how Ilheod and Astraeus butchered the bandit leader. It was a bloody sight, thanks to the big wyvern's rage and brutality. It wasn't something she would have liked to see but they had got the job done perfectly so there wouldn't be any complain coming from her lips. The black knight smirked when she watched the rest of the bandits flee after the demise of their leader with only four brave, or foolish, bandits remain. Maybe they couldn't run because they got cold feet or maybe they were foolishly thinking to avenge their friends. It didn't matter. If they still wanted to fight then she would bring it to them.
There was no mercy for these brutes in her mind. However, she wouldn't mind to keep one of them alive. These people usually weren't loyal type, a bit torture would easily make them reveal their hideout and other information. That was her plan.
Melvina, knowing that the blue-haired girl would have her back and the other wyvern rider were approaching, showed no hesitation as she charged toward the nearest axeman. Her blade was parried by the man's weapon but the extra power coming from the charge knocked him backward. Melvina then led Shiva to round the bandit while staying out of his range. Both combatants stared at each other's eyes as they waited for a chance. When the bandit rushed forward, the Lycian knight dismounted and ran toward him, brandishing her iron sword. Their weapon clashed a few times as they attacked, dodged, and parried alternately. It was a little disadvantageous for Melvina because her aim was to disable, not to kill. The bandit, however, executed each strike with intent to decapitate the green-haired woman. After a few more bouts, she gambled by charging forward when the bandit swung his axe, diving low to dodge the incoming axe. There was a loud sound of metals clashing with each other when the axe hit her helmet and knocked it off her head. It almost looked as if he just got a clean hit but in truth his weapon simply grazed the knight's helmet. The impact was strong enough to send it flying, though. Seeing an opening, Melvina dropped her sword and then proceeded with launching a strong punch at the her opponent's abdomen and then another uppercut directly to his jaw. It wasn't as easy as she had predicted and it even hurt her fist but her gamble was a success, the bandit lay on the ground, unconscious but alive.
Drawing deep breath, Melvina tried to calm her adrenaline. She put her hand on her waist as she looked at the others, wondering how they handled their own opponents. There was some blood dripping down the side of her head which came from an opened old wound, probably caused by the impact when the axe had hit her helmet.

The key to working with others had to be trust. With all things considered, Zerene was trusting the other knights and the wyvern captain with her very life. There was no time to make mistakes and she had to move to take any advantage given. Luckily since she was facing away from the fight against the leader, she had failed to see the mutilation of the body. Unfortunately her hearing was good enough to to understand what was happening. It was a sound of terror and fear that they had inflicted on others before. It never did seem to get anymore tolerable, but she forced the thought out of the mind and focused on the remaining bandits.
Most of them ran off after their leader fled, but for those that remained, there would be no mercy. With a few heavy beats of his wings, they were upon one of the remaining axe wielders. The man was experienced enough not to lose his cool as they charged forward. He even tried to move to the side in hopes of dodging, only to find Arman trying to match his turn with one of his own. Unfortunately the brute wasn't going to let on as a heavy fist slammed into the wyvern's jaw.
If he was a larger beast, it might have been a minor annoyance, but the attack was enough to daze the mount. He was capable enough to stay in the air, but not much else. It was no time to panic though, she positioned herself off the saddle to get a better position on the brigand and thrust out. Thankfully it was just in time to avoid an axe wound to Arman's neck. Her attack hit him in the shoulder, causing a slight off balance. The attack only missed a hair's breadth, but it costed her own balance as he pulled the lance towards him. She fell forward onto the ground, hitting it with a rather painful thud. Thanks to her training, she was quick to get back on her feet, with lance in hand.
Unfortunately it was not fast enough, as the man charged back at her. By this point Arman had recovered enough to attack on the side. His fangs bit into the man's shoulder. The axe still came down as she moved to get out of the way, the blade bit into her right thigh and through the armor. Biting back the pain and tears, she moved and stabbed him through the chest, glad that the wound didn't seem too deep. Seeing his partner injured, the wyvern let out a shriek of his own and began to tear into the man. It was only when she placed her hand onto his snout did it finally regained its senses and let out a cooing noise.
"It's okay, I'm fine," she forced a smile for the wyvern.

The two female fighters were quick to move onto their foes. Ilheod was glad they had been able to protect the villagers safely, it certainly made the situation less strained. However as the wounded Wyvern Lord saw them fight two bandits each respectively in single combat he felt a flash of concern. The two ax wielding men left were already moving in to the closer to ambush the onlooking female horse-mounted knight. Turning about, Ilheod tightened his grip on his lance with his arm still looped through the reigns while he wrapped his heels against the wyvern's back sides. Astraeus let out a fierce shrieking like roar as the wyvern moved with a sudden burst of speed. Launching up only slightly into the air, more for a lunging motion the colossal Wyvern rushed past the knight barely skirting by her and her steed only to crash against the two muscular ax wielding men. However, unlike their comrade who had managed to stun the smaller wyvern of the female rider with a sharp blow they were no where near strong enough to contend with the crushing weight of the much older and heavier Astraeus.
As if to imbue fear as a lingering lasting moment before their demise the wyvern extended and lifted his wings to their full span while shrieking again loudly directly infront of the men with fangs exposed. Ilheod snarled and plunged his lance forwards into the man pinned under Astraeus's right limb, impaling the man through the center of the skull. The violent shattering crack of the hardened front plate offered resistance; yet to the man's silver spear it still cracked almost instantly. The combined terror of the wyvern holding him plus the swift yet violent death of his comrade had the man shouting in horror. It was drown out by the dual fold shriek of the wyvern and Ilheod's snarl as he silenced the yelping dog with a savage thrust to the throat. As Astraeus quieted a stifled silence took the field. Ilheod rose his spear from the corpse only to thrust it once, hard, into the air. Grey matter and blood were scattered forwards and cleansed from the spear before he dragged it's tip along the ground spinning it slightly to better clean it.
Though he had stabbed the man in the skull, that didn't imply he enjoyed cleaning remnants of a human brain from his weapon. Ilheod could still feel the throbbing burning pain of his shoulder. He would tend to it however when he knew they weren't in immediate danger. Astraeus folded his wings inwards while Ilheod guided him to turn about and face the other two female knights. "Is everyone still alive?"

Melvina crossed both arms in front of her face when the wyvern charged past her. There was no need to take defensive measure, though, because the target wasn't her but those sneaky brigands near her. As she looked at the bloody scene, the knight noted for herself to be more vigilant next time. How could she, the knight-commander of Santaruz, fail to notice some ambush creeping behind her? Unforgivable. She needed to train harder to improve her skill in actual fight. Hopefully someday she would be as good as the brown-haired rider but less emo. Switching her glances between the two wyvern riders, Melvina seemed amused by how they fought together with their mounts. But, she also wondered if it was always like this...bloody...with wyvern riders. Their opponents' bodies were torn apart by their angry wyverns, which surely a very painful way to die. Melvina didn't pity them, the bandits deserved that much, but she didn't know about the villagers who had to watch those scenes too. Well, it wasn't like they could complain about how they were saved, right? They should be thankful, not criticizing their saviors' method.
"This ended faster than I expected..." she thought. Melvina picked up her sword and returned it to the sheath as she pondered about the situation. She still missed her spear which had been thrown to one of the bandits but it could easily be retrieved later. Her immediate concern was the safety of the innocents so the black knight walked toward them, observing their condition. The villagers seemed totally alright, maybe a bit scared but at least they were alive and healthy.
Shiva, her favorite warhorse, nudged the black knight and made a weak whine. The green-haired woman smiled and gave her mount a gentle brush on the head when the horse began licking her face, probably wanting to clean the blood from her face. Melvina grabbed Shiva's reins then turned to face the male wyvern rider who were still resting on his wyvern. His condition didn't look too good but his wound didn't seem life-threatening. It was same with the other, smaller, wyvern rider. Melvina's red eyes stared at the younger woman as she tried to examine her condition. "Hmm, other than bruises and a small wound in the thigh she looks completely alright..." she thought.
"Yes. Everything is under control now." Melvina remarked coldly. This man was her comrade in this battle but she had learnt to be careful with strangers. Moreover, he, and the girl too, was a wyvern rider, which the black knight assumed he was from Bern. There were some freelance soldiers and mercenaries who somehow possessed wyverns indeed, although it was quite rare, but it would be safer to assume they were either Bern soldiers or a deserters. She hoped he was the latter because it would make thing less complicated. "And you two? Are you alright?"
"I must say I am still a bit surprised to see two wyvern riders here..." Melvina paused, seeming a bit hesitated before she continued speaking to the two Bernese riders. "Are you mercenaries or...soldiers?" she said. It was really bothersome but she had to make sure. Depending on their answer she might have to ask them to show their permits to enter Lycia and Santaruz. "But I guess I should play soft with these two. They have helped us, after all..." she thought.

Upon the back of his large Wyvern, the Bernese unit commander gazed at the two women for a moment before looking to the area around them. Damage assessment in earnest. Sliding the helm from his head, bangs tussled and fell into place obscuring his left eye as he nodded a bit, and quietly to himself while he looked to ensure all the civilians were okay. As the female knight commented upon the state of things Ilheod simply quietly nodded before lifting his good arm to compress his right shoulder. He spoke after a brief pause to the woman's inquiry. "I've had worse. I may need to treat it soon, but I've certainly had worse." She then commented upon their presence. He couldn't blame her, Lycian knight's and soldiers had no reason to harbor love towards the sight of a Wyvern Rider. After the Bernese war of aggression he was certain there was probably little left to harbor at all. He'd received mixed responses upon being within Lycia.
It was ironic. Returning to visit the place his Cousin rested, and encounter a knight of the same territory in that single visit. Ilheod lifted his gaze as he suppressed the urge to wince in pain while blood trailed between the rent links of chainmail under his armor. He spoke calmly, after a moment. "I am a former soldier. I am here simply to visit a special place before returning home. As you may guess, I am from Bern. Former Knight-Commander of the western patrols. Not that it holds much standing anymore, such is li-"
He stopped mid speech, and grit his teeth briefly. It was a short expression but the small reaction belittled the pain. Ilheod inhaled sharply before speaking again.
"I apologize but I need a moment to tend this wound. I shall speak with you both afterwards."
With that, he motioned for Astraeus to kick off the ground and soar upwards. Though he did not fly away in a random direction from them; simply heading back to the hill he had been on. It was obvious though the wound would take time to tend, so he flew to the tree knowing the chance was there that when he was done they would not be there idly lingering still. If they weren't, so be it.

As soon as Zerene dismounted Arman rubbed his head against hers, getting as much affection as possible. She patted her friend and long term companion, gently pushing away from his face. Her leg complained though, causing her to lean harshly towards it. If she didn’t have experience with pain then it would have surely made her faint by now. Instead of complaining though, she tried her best to calm the wyvern.
“Fine, sir,” she answered the older rider, her tone coming out like she was reading from the manual. It was a light wound with all things considered. The sword didn’t enter very deeply, but it definitely cut through. If she took the proper care, she wouldn’t get more than a scar and hopefully no limp. Leaning on Arman’s neck for support, she dug into one of the pouches for her bandages. Supplies were low and she didn’t know if what did was right, but it seemed far more black and white than her first active duty.
“I’m quite fine ma’am,” she replied respectfully as she quickly washed the wound and began binding it. There was plenty of times to treat it with better material once they fly into a town. With a nudge, she looked over at her partner who indicated towards the refugees and let out a happy gleeful chuckle. She smiled back and nodded as well. Yes, she did some good today, peoples’ lives were saved. “I’m a deserter, she admitted to the woman without looking up. I didn’t believe what I was doing to be right, but I’m not completely sure what is good anymore,” she said, glancing up, before looking away and muttering something under her breath.
“I don’t have a home or place to go anymore, so…” she tried to continue, but began to choke up a bit at the end. She loved Bern. It was her home country, but what she had done couldn’t be forgiven. She also had no idea what she was going to do from here on out.

"Wait!" Melvina tried to stop Ilheod from leaving but he was already too far for her to do something. Well, she actually had more questions but those weren't really urgent or important. It wouldn't hurt to give the brown-haired man some space, no need to push him or make him uncomfortable. "He said 'former', huh? I guess he poses no threat then. Although maybe I should keep an eye on him, just in case he didn't tell me the truth. a man with his skill can't be ignored." Melvina closed her eyes and sighed as she somehow felt a bit relieved. Maybe she had suspected him too much.
Melvina turned to the wyvern girl, who looked younger than her. The knight's red eyes darted between the girl's eyes and the wound in her thigh, showing both concern and curiosity. But the worry disappeared when she saw Zerene doing the first aid correctly. "Hmm...she smiles and looks cheerful. Maybe the wound is lighter than I think?" she thought as she wiped some blood on her cheek.
It was quite surprising to hear Zerene's confession because most deserters usually wouldn't admit it openly. Melvina had suspected that much but the confession caught her off guard. She didn't fail to notice the change in the wyvern rider's tone and gestures. "She seems troubled...Well, she has said something...awkward, after all." Instead of condescending the girl for what she had done in the past, Melvina made a soft expression as she approached the girl with a smile. Shiva, Melvina's horse, seemed a bit uneasy with Arman's presence but stayed faithfully with her beloved master. "Deserting is always considered as a serious crime in military law, of course. But I won't judge you. If you were under my command, I would have to bring you for trial. However..." Her tone became softer. "...I'll say you don't need worry about it. In fact, I would be more concerned if you were still an active Bern soldier. And this is Lycia, not Bern, so you need not worry about your status. Look...I don't know what you've done and actually I don't care...." Melvina paused and extended her hand to Zerene, hoping she would accept the handshake. "For me, what important is that you helped these people. It's the most important thing. I would like to express my gratitude for you and...your charming wyvern companion. I appreciate how you risked your life to save Lycia's citizens."
"I am Melvina Burns, Knight-Captain of Santaruz. If you are looking for a new home, I think I might be able to offer a place for a talented wyvern rider in my squad," she said. The knight wasn't joking with the offer but she didn't put high hope on it either. Her squad could always accept new members, only who she deemed worthy, though.

Zerene stiffened as the woman spoke up about trial for desertion. Can they do that? It wasn’t like she was part of their military or are they obligated to arrest her and turn her over to Bern. When she explained that it wasn’t planned, her posture eased up and she relaxed. The last thing she wanted to do was fight her way out of there. She gave the rider a nod with her head, thankful that the issue wasn’t pressed any further.
In a flash, she stuffed her supplies back into Arman’s pouches and grabbed her lance as support. It wouldn’t help to end up tripping over or putting too much strain on the injured leg. Arman wanted to help her in his own misguided way. Slowly he moved his head towards his wound to try and lick at it. Zerene was surprised by the offer, but before she could give a proper answer, she noticed what her partner was planning.
“No,” she began firmly, but not deterring the wyvern, “No, no, no, you’re not licking this wound, down! Down!” For whatever reason, he was determined to try to soother her. It wasn’t until he was given a firm smack on the snout did he stop. He let out a snort of annoyance as though she had seriously offended him. Grumpily, he laid his head down on his front claws, making discontent sounds as if imitating Zerene’s voice as she spoke.
“I appreciate the offer, but I don’t believe I’ll be fit for the role,” she argued, Arman chirping up in a fake speech as she did so. Giving him a quick glare, she thought a bit longer on the issue.
“But I wouldn’t mind helping you, I mean, I don’t know about being an official soldier, but I know I’ll be willing to provide aid any way I can. I…just want to help people,” she admitted and once again the wyvern mocked him, until she delivered a firm smack over his head.
