"Well met, Hugo. I am glad that you show devotion to the will of St. Elimine - for whatever she commands is right and just."
As the man finished his statement, Willow smiled. She understood and respected his choice and his motives. She knew that this too was the will of Elimine.
"My... devotion is to my family. The gold I earn here will better serve them. Glory does not buy them a meal... but it is an added perk."
The man's words rang true, and the Valkyrie laughed, a bright, clear and unburdened sound. It was good to know that morals still existed, even in sellswords and soldiers. It was heartening and heartwarming. Willow couldn't ask for better men to serve in her army. If she had such men - family men - men of conviction - men who would fight for a greater good - then the savages of Sacae had no chance against them.
"Thank you for your sacrifices, Hugo. I appreciate them... And I appreciate you. I appreciate your service, and your devotion to your family. I appreciate all that went into making you what you are today. It is men like you that advance our goal and the grand aim of our Blessed Saint."
Willow saluted the man as he went about his business, reprimanding an unruly soldier. It was very refreshing to have a well-trained and competent man around in the general army.
---
Once the day's march was done, Willow brought Storm to feed and rest with the rest of the horses before moving over to get food with Oya. It was nothing special - simply standard rations - but Willow was excited to see the plans for the upcoming engagement. And since the Commander's tent had been pitched and readied, Willow had half a mind to fall asleep early. She'd wake up when Oya came in... No, no. She was too wired for sleep. Plans!

Oya had called a general meeting looking for commanders willing to show there stuff by taking on the newly arisen mission. Many of them declined. Maybe they did not have the stomach for it? Maybe because it was late and they had a long ride ahead of them tomorrow? Maybe they just did not feel like killing, but the mission this time was being run by the commander himself. As a boy Oya was taught to lead by example so the mercenary general had no problems taking on the job himself. Normally when Oya moved out he took a group of Nya pirates with him. they were good men who Oya had lead before in battle, but most importantly about them was there loyalty to him. However on this special occassion Oya did not do that. Instead he randomly chose the men out of the gathered mercenaries. It was Oya's way of showing that there was no favoritism and getting to know the fighting styles of the men under there command.
"Hugo", spoke Oya as he walked up to the man. Willow had mentioned him before and from the looks of him he was a capable fighter. He was a warrior and something about that resonated with Oya. Maybe it was a deep connection between true warriors on the battlefield or some similar background that Oya had no knowledge of. However in the end Oya had a liking to the fellow before he even began to fight with him. "We are going on a raid to take care of sacan clan. They are too close to our encampment and need to be eliminated. Are you up for the mission. I have to let you know before hand there will be no honor for the dead. There bodies will be impaled on pikes and left to rot in the hot sun. If you are ok with these terms then fall in", spoke Oya. He waited for the man's response and then walked away to join up with the men. Oya did not really give the others the option of joining or not joining. However he liked Hugo so he gave him a bit of wiggle room.
"Alright we are going to hit them hard and fast", spoke Oya as a soldier brought a horse to him. The Warrior mounted up, along with the other mercenaries. There plan was to ride seventy five percent of the way there and then finish the rest of the journey on fot. That way they can sneak up on the clan and take as many of them out before they realize they are under attack. This will technically be the first battle in the Campaign. Oya was not going to loss this battle. Oya was starting to feel good that nobody else volunteered to lead the mission. He wanted there first battle to be a sucess. There was no way he was going to leave this in anyone hands.
"Alright lets ride", shouted Oya as he rode off into the night. The Warrior's midnd was focused on battle and the trials that would present themselves.

Hugo took a moment to practice his archery on a nearby dummy target. He fired off three shots, each one found it's mark on the training dummy's neck. His preferred target of killing someone. His rounds were over. The wagon supplies appeared to be all accounted for. Someone called his name, he turned around to see that it was Oya. Ho. Grand leader himself. He got up greet the Orange haired one with a salute.
"Sir." He addressed Oya as sir, out of a show of respect.
This was the first time Hugo had gotten a good look at the commander. He seemed to be one who was accustomed to battle. Adaptable. He deemed the young man to be intelligent, given his choice of tent arrangement and order. His wife seemed to be pleased with him. He did not appear to be one whom would let emotions get the better of him like most young men did these days. Perhaps he saw a bit of himself within the young commander.
"We are going on a raid to take care of sacan clan. They are too close to our encampment and need to be eliminated. Are you up for the mission. I have to let you know before hand there will be no honor for the dead. There bodies will be impaled on pikes and left to rot in the hot sun. If you are ok with these terms then fall in"
Hugo had a bit of a grin on his face while Oya talked about the raid. These Sacean mongrels are to be used as an example.
"I am perfectly fine with these terms, Sir." He noticed that Oya nodded. Hugo cracked his knuckles. Good. What good is war without getting your hands dirty. He along with some other warriors mounted on horses and rode off towards the encampment.

Willow was positioned in the center of the group as they moved out. She was accompanying Oya, not as one of the main men, but as more of a support role. Her light magic, Luce, was of great assistance in battle - it both invigorated and inspired the ally and enfeebled and frightened the enemy. Fear was a useful power - Luce could banish and instill it. The soul was easily targeted for a Magician of Faith.
As the men rode, Willow found herself near her husband, her horse, Storm, easily keeping pace. For her part, the Valkyrie was excited to be moving in on a mission. She'd prepared for this journey, and now she was finally able to use her power to help Oya again. He had responded well when she had brought up the opportunity; after all, her husband's love of battle was immense. Almost as great as his love for her.
Mmm. Willow could go on and on about Oya, and the beautiful ways in which he loved her, from head to toe and everywhere in between. But now was not the time. Now was the time for battle - there would be time for loving in the tent afterward, to celebrate their success.
"Oya. I have a question, dear. When we get to the battle, should I cast first to frighten the enemy or to embolden our forces? I cannot do both at the same time, so I leave the choice up to your judgement. You are the commander, after all... I'll submit to whatever you will."

"Hmm", spoke Oya as he rubbed his chin. The young Warrior wanted to strengthen his men and make them ready for battle. However this was a night assault and as such they did not need to be boosted. They had the element of surprise. "I want you to frighten the enemy", spoke Oya as he road his horse toward there destination. "If the enemy is running in fear then they can not counter our men. Besides it will also break there moral if they see there brave night guard fleeing in terror as we ride in and slaughter them all."
As Oya and the other men rode toward there destination the young Warrior spent time thinking on there stratagem. Sacae was a big place and filled with stubborn people. For this campaign Oya was going to have to find a way to break there spirits and bring them to heel. No matter how he looked at it this war was eventually going to put him in odds against the Crimson Demon of sacae himself. Oya had seen him fight in the city of heroes. His ferocity lead the south to hold off Hargus for a week and his skill with the blade rallied everyone around him. Only the demon king himself could topple the man during the invasion. Even then Oya was not sure if Kenshin was truly defeated. The old dog probably still had some fight in him, thought Oya was regretting saving him during the fighting. He should have let Hargus finish him off. It would have saved him a lot of blood and man power now. However that was in the past. Oya had no way of knowing his mother would make a deal with the Holy Nation and place him at the forefront of a army. He did what he thought was best at the time.
"Commander we are approaching the enemy encampment", spoke one of the scouts.
"Alright everyone prepare to dismount", spoke Oya as he brought the raging stampede of horses to a halt. They were still a good bit from the enemy encampment, but Oya did not want to risk being sighted by the watch guard. Rather than rush the enemy as one giant unit Oya split his forces into two fronts. The first force was lead by Willow. They were the horse riders and would circle around and attack the enemy encampment from the other side. This force was made up of experience horse riders who were capable of fighting on horse back. The other unit was lead by Oya himself. Here he placed the fighters who mostly fought on there own two legs. They were going to hit the enemy on foot. The way Oya set it up they would reach the enemy first and hit them like a hammer. This stratagem made employing Willow's magic a bit more tricky, but Oya figured it would be more useful in breaking the enemy's rear guard than helping them plow through the front. With everyone knowing what they were going to do the forces marched on.
It took Oya and his lad's ten minutes to reach there destination. Willow and the others had probably circled around already. "Alright men lets give them hell", shouted oya as he rushed forward. Calling upon the power of Hargu's axe Oya pulled a ball of dark energy from the nether and shot it forward at astonishing speeds. The spell slammed into a unexpected watch guard and started the blood fest.
"Bandits", shouted another guardsmen as the sacean clan armed themselves. As Oya expected the men of the clan rushed forward with sword in hand and bow upon horseback. Naturally the swordsmen took the center flank and began to engage Oya's infantry vanguard. The horse bowmen flanked out on the outsides shooting arrows into there ranks. If this had been Oya's only force then they would be in serious trouble. The sacaens were fearsome strategist. Quickly they moved and began to assult the raiding party on three fronts.
"Looks like the wolves of sacae have earned there title well", spoke Oya as a arrow flew by him. The orange haired leader charged forward with Hargus' axe in hand. The very sight of the weapon caused a few swordsmen to pause. They wondered whether or not if it was the real thing or simply a replica.
"Die brigand", shouted a swordsmen as he slashed his blade at Oya. The pirate blocked it using the head of the axe and retaliated with a swing of his own. Naturally the attack was blocked. The swordmaster knew battle well, but Oya was no slouch either. Rather than let the skilled swordsmen counter his initial attack Oya pressed forward and began to swing his weapon in rapid succession. Over and over he pounded the swordsmen guard till he caused the edge of the man's blade to chip from the strain. For the last blow Oya called upon the dark power of Hargu's axe and shattered the swordsmen's blade. The head of the axe pushed through and sliced open the man's chest.
"Kill them all", shouted Oya as he rallied his men. It was about time for Willow and the Others to show up.

When the forces split between horseback and foot men Hugo chose to follow Oya's group. The warrior was no good at horseback. It took about ten minutes for them to reach their destination before being spotted.
"Kill them all! spoke Oya as he rushed in brandishing a magic axe Hugo had. never seen before. He liked it. It killed things from a distance and from. up close. How practical. Hugo rushed forward bow in hand and began picking off targets at a distance. He managed to feather two nomads off their horses. Before being brought into the main fray. Hugo knew he'd find more opportunities to fire his trusty bow in the near future. He pulled out his trusty iron axe and went into the tents. Oya wanted this to be a blood bath and Hugo was going to deliver it. Leave nothing alive. He had a grin on his face as he rushed forward and brought his axe down on an unsuspecting Sacean woman. The screams of the woman family filled the tent as he continued to kill the rest. He took care to try and hit them from the neck so that they bleed out more.
Satisfied with the job done in this tent he moved on to the next one. This next tent had a young son whom appeared to be proficient in sword play. But he was inexperienced. The moment he rose his arms up over his head to swing Hugo had swung his axe right into the young man's chest ending his life.

The battle was going exactly as Oya thought it would. The Saceans were putting up a fearsome defense but they made the mistake of thinking that Oya and the foot units were the only raiders. The cavalry hit there forces from behind and drove through the camp. I a savage charge they smashed into the ranks of the sacaen light Calvary and shattered the formation. Chaos ruled the battlefield as it soon turned to rider vs rider combat. The mercenaries however had the advantage in this fight as they had far greater armor than the sacean light cavalry. At the same time the sacean light cavalry had far greater speed and mobility. In this situation however both speed and mobility was canceled as horse pressed against horse and the tightness of the units.
"Alright push", shouted oya as the infantry marched forward. With the enemy horse archers taken out of the fight the battle was almost all but won. The mercenaries attacked with both lance and blade. The axe users mostly pulled to the back and aided the cavalry with taking down the horsemen, with the exception of a few brave souls willing to challenged the swift blades of the swordmasters. One of these brave souls was their leader Oya. The warrior lead from the front in this battle. As his infantry pushed forward they made there way into the enemy encampment. At this point all hell broke lose as Oya began to lead the way by setting a tent on fire.
"Burn them all", shouted a mercenary as he began to torch the surrounding tents. Screams filled the air as people struggled to both defend there homes and try not to be consumed by the fire. The blanket of smoke began to fill the encampment as a fire began to rage. All throughout the attack Oya simply watched with a smile on his face. This is what he envisioned when he made plans to bring war to sacae. The chaos and destruction full sated his blood's call for violence.
"Burn let the plains burn", shouted Oya as he raised Hargu's axe. The warrior then cut open the skull of a fleeing women and shot forth its dark magic. He could feel the axe pulsate with excitement. The weapon took great delight in the slaying of saceans. It was no doubt the spirit that inhabited this axe took on the personality of its last owner. Hargus was a fearsom bandit and his hatred for the plainsmen seemed to seep into anything he touched.

Willow raised her hands as they approached, smiling as her golden power massed. Then, she prayed to her Blessed Saint and released a wave of gentle golden light that rushed forward, bathing the enemy forces in its glow. But the innocuous light had far more dastardly effects - all those touched by its radiance began to quiver in fear, as images of Hargus and fearsome bandits appeared in their mind. From the heavens, an image of the glorious St. Elimine appeared, and light flashed in their eyes.
"Die, heathen scum! Elimine wills you to die!"
The tide of battle rapidly turned. The Sacaeans, already taken by surprise, were in weak fighting position, and the heavenly, divine 'justice' willed upon them made resisting and fighting back even more difficult.
Oya's troops pressed forward, and Willow watched as the wilting warriors were slain mercilessly by the group of raiders. The Valkyrie herself used her Light to blast indiscriminately, felling men, women, children, animals... Anything that moved was a target of her blinding rays of doom.
"Die! Die!"
As the battle began to wind down as the clan was exterminated, Willow made her way nearer to Oya and unleashed one final burst of Luce. But this time, the soothing golden aura had the opposite effect - all of the raiders suddenly felt refreshed, as if they had had some energy restored. They were inspired to fight harder, to continue and not give up. It was a small boost, but it had great effects on morale. The battle was all but won now.

Hugo continued to do his job and slay as many clan's people as he could. With Lady Willow and her troops casting holy light from afar the fate of these Sacean people was sealed. He heard Oya scream out for the plains to burn. Now that was slightly odd, he could have sword the orders were to set the bodies on pikes. Other wise this would look like any other bandit raid instead of being used as an example for Eturia's might. But the torches were lit and the tents were set aflame.
"Perhaps the thrill of the battle got a hold of him." Hugo couldn't blame him. The old warrior was having fun slaughtering people. Soon the last of the tribesmen were slain. Hugo came out with the body of what he perceived to be the chieftain. As the man was decorated with a different attire then the others of the clan. His chest was full of burned scars caused by the light from Lady Willow's spells. The body was tied to sticks giving him the iconic T pose position. He would be the first man to be strapped to a pike and left to rot. The warrior used the fire light to guide him out towards the entrance of the small campsite. He left the dead man near other soldiers whom were getting the pikes ready. Hugo continued to go back and fourth between the pike site and the burning campgrounds bringing back a few more bodies. Some bodies were too dangerous to fetch others were already burning. He fished out a bow from the flames that he liked. It was a bit damaged and it would take some time for him to repair it. But from the looks of it appeared to be a bow used for quick deaths. After a bit he aided the others in setting up the bodies, a small array of bodies on pikes now decorated the land near the burning grounds. Perfect. He thought.

"Good work Willow", spoke Oya as he walked up to her steed storm. The warrior rubbed his hands on the side of the mighty Warhorse face in a uncommon gentle stroke. "The stratagem seemed to work well, but if you all had been a few more minutes late then we would have been in some real trouble", spoke Oya as he looked up at his wife. The young Warrior looked across the field and witnessed his first victory of the campaign. He watched as the soldiers finished off the last of the sacaes and tents were being looted. There spoils of war would prove excellent kindling to light the blood lust of the other soldiers. "We have may won today, but we could have just as easily lost. Maybe I took a bit to much risk on this mission", spoke Oya to Willow as he began to think on his stratagems. This was not a simple raid on a village or a attack on a supply ship. This was war and any mistakes Oya made on the field would have long lasting results. Every action he took, he questioned, and every decision he made he wondered. During these tough times Oya had only one person he could fall back onto and that was his wife Willow.
"Hey set those corpses up in a straight line", shouted one of the captains as he began to enforce Oya's will. It was not just about putting there bodies on pikes it was how they did it. Oya wanted the corpses to form a walk way sot that there army or anybody following that natural trail that lead through this area could walk right down the middle of it. Not only did it show there cruelty and strength, but it also showed there order and sophistication. This war would become a battle over the willpower of the plainsmen. By doing this Oya knew he would do one of the two things. One he might unite them. The horrors of war he brought to there homeland will probably cause them to place aside there petty disagreements and form a strong effort to take Oya down. The second thing that could happen is that he sends a shock wave of fear through them. Once they see the destruction and horror brought by Oya's army they will know fear and fear made people stupid. There would be a chance that some of them would flee the plains altogether and a few might even submit. However more than likely the end result of this raid would be the first. Sacae has shown itself to be strong and Oya knew that far to well. However even the strongest beast has fear in its heart. His actions today will plant a seed and that seed will grow. As a bonus if they united into a single united force breaking there spirits will be all the more easier.
As Oya and the raid squad returned to the camp them were greeted with congratulations from there fellow officers. The loot and plunder they had gathered during there assault was rightfully theirs and the possibility of gaining even more riches boosted the moral of the men. The first night was short, even shorter for Oya thanks to his personal celebration with willow, and the next day's march was long. The fighting men of the first battle were exhausted however the horses were press on. The second day and night were uneventful. They had managed to avoid running into any more clans or being picked up by any of the local nomads. The army's second battalion split off that night and made there move toward the original salvation point. At Dawn Oya and the remaining mercenaries marched onto there first major strategic point, New Salvation Point, or the place that was suppose to become New Salvation Point.
Surrounded by nothing but open field and a small river the fort stood strong. However its gate was still damaged, and was replaced by a far weaker wooden one. The brigands who occupied the place stood a number of twenty strong only, but they had thick stone walls surrounding them on three sides. The only weakness in the structure Oya could see was the lack of a iron gate in the front and the lack of a actual moat. It was clear that one point there was one, but time had withered it away.
"Alright", spoke the young warrior as he gathered his war council. Hugo had proven himself in the last battle and Oya had given him clearance to join in on there strategic meetings. The young warrior was never shy about taking opinions from old veterans. "Our goal here is to take the fort without damaging the outer walls. Originally we sent a messenger to meet with the leader of the brigands and discuss a peaceful solution, but the fool of a man refused to talk with us and fired arrows at him. So now we are going to have to take it by force. I think it goes without saying that the catapults and trebuchets are forbidden from use in this battle. We want the walls. This place will be useless to us if we leave it in a pile of rubble. Currently I suggest that we bring in a covered battering ram and knock down the gate. From there we can swarm the enemy with our superior numbers and take out the bandit leader. However the covered battering ram will only work if the enemy is not focus on more than one location. Thus why I want to use ladder assaults on the West, East, and Southern walls. The casualties should not be high, but I want to send the green recruits in first just to marginalize losses. Any suggestions are flaws in the plan", spoke Oya as he looked up to the people gathered around the war table.

It had been a whirlwind of activity from the end of the battle until the end of the celebration in camp of the victory. And even after she and Oya had retired to their tent, there was yet another whirlwind - but of a different sort.
And the whirlwinds never ceased; now, the Valkyrie found herself in a war meeting, the topic of the day the fort whose conquest was their next objective.
'Our goal here is to take the fort without damaging the outer walls... We want the walls. This place will be useless to us if we leave it in a pile of rubble... Thus why I want to use ladder assaults on the West, East, and Southern walls. The casualties should not be high, but I want to send the green recruits in first just to marginalize losses."
"Oya. I like the strategy, but I have one suggestion. If we send in the ladder crews first, and secure a spot on the walls, we can then use our magic and our archers to our advantage. Luce will wreak havoc on the mass of defenders if we can send it down on them as they are clumped within, and our arrows will aid in that, as well as securing other walls. So I would suggest sending one ladder crew with experienced soldiers and me, as well as any other mages and archers you can spare to take up position after we have secured the wall. Hopefully, if we can gain high ground early on, it will be much easier to defeat them quickly and with minimal losses."
The Valkyrie swept her blue hair out of her face. Oya undoubtedly wouldn't like sending her out alone, even though she'd be with experienced soldiers. But she knew she could handle this, and she wanted to be able to play a part in this battle beyond simple support.
"I always have healing magic, in case we need sustain any injuries."

Hugo returned to camp a hero among his fellow tent mates. There was a small celebration with a round of drinks that were looted from the nomads. Now their corpses stood in even straight lines on crosses in the charred remains of their homes. Hugo did not find any need to celebrate with his companions at least not yet. Yes this was a good and important first victory but he knew how long and hard war was. You cannot simply celebrate after every battle when there are possibly a hundred battles to face. The purpose of the celebration then becomes dull and monotonous. Instead the warrior retried to his tent to clean himself off and inspect the loot. He had taken some wine, a few pieces of gold, and materials to make arrows.
The bow he recovered was in need of repairs. However he felt confident that with enough time he would eventually find the right person to help mend it. So far from what he could tell the bow was very light and appeared to be suited for firing off arrows quickly. Quicker then normal. It lacked a proper bow string and the handle was worn down. The ends of the bow were chipped and dented in some manner. Perhaps he could not ever truly mend this bow, but perhaps receive a replica of it at some point. With the first of the raids over, Hugo had fully readjusted into the war's lifestyle. The old warrior march, camp, trained, and rested. By the third day he had earned enough respect to join Oya in the war meetings and give small tidbits of information. It seemed that his experience had been an asset to the young captain. Once he returned home he would have his family send him and his wife a gift of some of the finest furs they made.
"I see no obvious flaws in this plan. This multiple point strategy, with several ladder crews, has proven itself to be effective at taking enemy forts from much more capable men." He spoke out loud when it was his turn.
"With Lady Willow's support and archers we can even potentially minimize even the green horn casualties. The fledglings will need some sort of commander for each squadron to guide them. No offense Lady Willow, but I believe offensive magic in this case runs the risk of fire or potential destruction of the walls." After he finished speaking his peace he waited for Oya to give the commands.

Oya did not like it. As a matter of facts he hated it. Willow, his wife, climbing up a ladder. It was asking for something bad to happen. Oya did not mind risking his men. He did not mind risking his own life, but Willows. Now that was a different story. She meant more to him than anything he owned. However, they where right. This mission needed somebody to go and Willow was the best choice. If this was a normal bandit raid then Oya would just outright say no and let they all piss and moan about it. However this was a military campaign and both the fates of Willows and his family rode on it. If he pulled her out the fight it would cause problems with the men. It will show that Oya was not willing to risk anything he cared about in this war. He would loss there respect and in term he would loss the war. Oya could not have that. Willow would not want it and his mother would not want it. Oya was going to have to risk some one he really cared about. It was a hard decision, but it had to be made.
"Very well", spoke Oya as he looked up at Willow. He held his stern look as a commander as he looked into his wife's eyes. He could not show soft emotions, he could not show weakness. "Chose a spot and get into the castle. Hold off on causing any major damage to the wall, but over all get the job done. We can't loss to many green recruits after all", spoke the Orange pleague as he turned his view toward Hugo. "Hugo", he spoke as he looked at the man. "I want you to lead the archers and give Willow some support. I am counting on you", spoke Oya as he turned from the man and then looked at the other commanders. "In this battle I will leave the control of the ground units to you Galahad", spoke Oya as he stared at one of his commanders. "Get the ram to the gate and knock it down. Try to keep casualties as low as possible. Charlemagne", spoke Oya as he turned to another commander. "You will be leading the battle over all."
"Wait you will not be in command", spoke another officer as he looked at Oya with surprise. He had lead the night raid a few nights before. He was sure Oya was going to lead the capture of the castle as well. The fact that he delegated it over to somebody else seemed out of hand for him.
"Unfortunately no", spoke oya as he looked at the man. "I want to see the skill of my commanders. I need to know your limits and abilities. If I lead every battle then I won't know what you are all capable of. This is going to be a long campaign so i am going to need to be able to rely on your judgement."
"Understood Commander Oya", spoke the officers in unison. Oya did not care for this formality but he had to admit it was good have some respect.
"Hugo wait a minute", spoke Oya as the large man prepared to leave. The Warrior had some words to share with the man before he left to make his preparations. Rather than speak Oya walked over to a wooden case and pulled out a finely crafted bow. "Take this", he spoke as he handed the man the bow. "Keep my wife safe", that was all Oya said as he walked out the room.

"No offense Lady Willow, but I believe offensive magic in this case runs the risk of fire or potential destruction of the walls."
"None taken - but Luce targets the heart, the mind, and the soul, and so it would be highly unusual for it to cause ignition of the nonliving matter surrounding the targets. I will keep in mind range and possible splashing when I cast, but rest assured it will not be the walls that will be crumbling when we attack."
As Oya conceded a spot to her, the Valkyrie nodded to her husband, her face similarly composed - except for her eyes, which glowed and twinkled with mirth. Finally, she had a chance - a chance to truly use the Light's power to its full extent. To glorify Elimine through her actions. And that was what she hoped to do.
Leaving the room with the other officers, Willow broke off and made her way to the jungle of tents that housed the main body of the soldiers. While many rose to acknowledge her as she passed, she simply smiled back to the majority of them, not engaging in light conversation like she usually did. But some she beckoned to, and the group of twelve she gathered she brought to the empty area around one of the central fires.
"You will accompany me on this next assault of ours. You twelve are my Dozen Devoted. I cannot yet disclose what exactly we will be doing - but be ready. I need you all on guard."
The men nodded. The Devoted had been drawn to the commander, and their loyalty and resolve had drawn her respect. They were a diverse bunch - two swordsmen, two lance-wielders, two with axes, two with the power of Anima, and two of Elimine's own priests.

Oya had issued out to his second in commands their orders. Hugo was tasked with leading the archers and providing support for Lady Willow. Hugo nodded as he was given his orders. Oya presented Hugo with a bow. Hugo inspected the bow. It was lightweight, well made, he drew the bow string back for a moment to gauge how it handled. This was a bow of high quality and high caliber. Perhaps one that was similar to the broken one he recovered from the Saceans.
“Sir, you have my word. The archers and I will do everything in our power to support Lady Willow and ensure a successful capture of the fort.” He gave his Commander a salute before the Orange Haired man left the war tent to tend to business.
Hugo left the war tent in high spirits. He was content with the new bow and his commands. He went to join his small group of officers. Introduced himself as their leader and gave them their orders.
“We are to aid Lady Willow and her squadron. We are to serve as her support. I want every man to focus on picking off the enemy from the walls of the fort. Barring that we pick off the enemy heading towards our troopers. Any animosity you have towards your fellow man must be discarded when you enter combat. I will not tolerate friendly fire. No one is to charge in and act like a hero. As archers we strike from behind our forces. We rain down hell so our troops do not suffer many casualties. If you have any problems with that speak now so you shall be replaced, detained, and refused food for the week.” Hugo didn’t have the authority to actually withhold food from the men, but they didn’t know that. This was more of a test to weed out any weaklings from his command. No archer complained.
“Very well then. Prepare yourselves we move out in five minutes.” He left the tent and went to the small training grounds behind them. Hugo decided to test the new bow. He loaded an arrow and fired at the wooden dummy. He was surprised at how quick the arrow flew through the air. He tested it out once more this time he fired two arrows in quick succession. This was done with relative ease when he compared it to his iron bow. Thank You commander. In five minutes Hugo and his small squad of archers arrived ready for battle.
