When she’s with Chewy though she talks to the wyvern about everything, her insecurities her fears, her inner thoughts that would get her in trouble if she said them out loud.
Chewy’s personality is that of an average wyvern. However since she has been with Aria since her birth she has adopted several of the human’s mannerisms. For example she has learned how shrug her shoulders and roll her eyes. Chewy is a very vocal wyvern often expressing her emotions through a series of roars, grunts, or tail slaps.
Story:Aria was born the 6th child of a family of wyvern Breeders in Lucerne. She was the only girl in a house full of boys. However being a girl did not entitle her to any special privileges. She was raised to work and help out with the family business of raising and caring for wyverns. She was educated by her siblings and her parents in the ways of the world. She learned to read, write, raise wyverns, and animals alike. Her mother once belonged to a church troupe. A sort of troupe that went around Elibe preaching the gospel of Eliminism through performances. Aria's mother was a particularly gifted singer. She taught her children the basics of music and of Eliminism. Her father was a retired military general who found comfort in rearing baby wyverns. Out of her five siblings, Aria was the only one who truly inherited her mother's gift of song.
On her 5th birthday, she was old enough to witness the hatching of a small cluster of wyverns. Out of that cluster emerged a small red scaled wyvern that would later become her best friend. Young Aria was smitten with this red colored wyvern and visited the stable that housed it every day.
The parental wyverns were accustomed to her presence and she would let her touch and play with the hatchlings. But she would almost always single out the little red one who played with her the most. Over the years the two of them formed a bond. Aria grew up to be a hard worker. Pulling her weight around the house doing everything from cooking, cleaning, sewing, feeding, tending the small farm, and tending the wyverns. When she was about 10 the family thought her to be old enough to start riding the wyverns. In order to help with advertising the family trade, and to have her earning her own coin. At age 16 her father had announced that he had arranged for her to be married to a rival breeder’s family in order to try and start partnership between businesses. Unable to accept this news she begged her father to reconsider but he refused. Her brothers had some sympathy for her. They knew a marriage meant that she would be forced to live in her husband’s home and be away from Chewy.
A handful of them were knights in the military, they began training her in the ways of combat. They gave her hope in saying that if she could join the riders of Bern, she could carve a life for herself, and not be separated from Chewy. Training was difficult. This training had to be done in secret away from their father’s prying eyes. At first Chewy didn’t particularly like it. She kept bucking and trying to shake Aria off. Or she would rather spend her time flying through the air rather than learning formations and strike patterns. Fed up with Chewy’s attitude, one night, Aria broke down and yelled at the wyvern. She explained to it that if they did not start working together as a team to learn how to be a knight then, she would be separated from Chewy forever. Chewy seemed to take this to heart as the next day the wyvern started to behave. At 18 with two years of home training under her belt she left her father’s home and went to Larguz. In Larguz she was enrolled in the wyvern academy and put to the test. She failed the entrance exam the first time but that didn’t deter her. She’d gotten a taste of freedom away from her family and her social obligations. She stayed with her eldest brother in Larguz. The year after that she passed the entrance exam and was enrolled to begin training officially as a knight of Bern. Although her father was originally cross with her for leaving behind his back he ultimately forgave her. She felt happy doing something on her own. The young rider was qualified enough to join the ranks of Bern's royal guard. Her role would be a small one but it was her own. But that happiness was short lived. Castle Bern had fallen and with that her hopes and dreams. Bern was put under Ilian occupation.
For the last 6 years between Ilian occupation and rebellion Aria kept to herself. She felt as if she had lost something that was bigger than just some royals in a castle. She avoided most of the major battles between the Bernese and Ilian forces. Instead she focused her attention on keeping the peace for the local people. She fought bandits. And when the monsters started coming in she fought them too. The people seemed to rejoice at the news that the rebellion forces had secured fort Macendew. It gave the people hope. She liked it when the people had hope. She figured it was time stop playing it safe and head out to bring some more hope to the people.
