Crossing into the plains The Hunger was on the prowl. He was looking for a new meal. Bern was, well chaotic. The Chaos was good to get in kill and get out, but it also made everyone dangerous. You can only play with fire for so long before one gets burned and The Hunger was not looking to take to much damage. The flesh took a while to heal. So instead of feasting on the life force of the people of Bern The Hunger turned toward the plains. The plains where a excellent target. Not only was it wide open, which made fleeing difficult, but it also had plenty of wondering tribes. These tribes could be assaulted without alerting the others or having a pesky army waiting to pounce at any moment.
As The Hunger made its way though the tall grass it came upon a wondering tribe. It was a interesting prospect. Sacaen tribes where known for there tough fighters and there skill with the blade. However The Hunger had power, power that a normal swordsmen was not capable of matching. Still if they all ganged up on him at once it could prove costly. After all the host was still made up of flesh and blood. This was a job that had to be taken care of with care and careful planning.
The Hunger's first target was none other than the watchmen. There where five placed all around the camp. One on each corner and one extra one standing in the direction the tribe did not travel. Taking one out would most definitely alert the others over time as they turned back to check if the other was still standing. This however gave a time limit on how long The Hunger could move before someone was noticed missing. After watching in the grass for thirty minutes The Hunger picked up on there timing. I about fifteen minutes the guards checked in on each other. This meant that The Hunger had fifteen minutes at max to kill one guard and move into the inner camp. It was more than enough time for him to pull off his plan.
The Hunger waited till the moment the two guards moved away from each other. The start of its fifteen minutes. Quickly the Hunger dashed in once the other guard was far away enough to not here his movements. The one he was aiming for however he could. Quickly he drew his sword to try and defend himself against the Hunger, but that was not enough. The hunger knew of there skill with the blade and wisely decided to not face them with the blade. As The hunger's blade clashed with the thin, but sturdy blade of the sacaen a dark magic erupted from the blade consuming the man with dark tendrils. The dark magic ripped thought the man's throat preventing him from screaming. He would still last a few more minutes even if The Hunger had let him live. However The Hunger had no plans of letting him life. With a heart filled with desire and rage the Hunger plunged its blade into the man's skull taking his life energy with him. Not wasting a single minute The Hunger rushed off toward the center of the camp. His clock was already ticking and he needed to be in the center before anyone noticed.
As the Hunger pushed into the tents it became very clear that this clan was in its infant years. Inside the tents he could hear the sound of children playing and mothers complaining. They where sure in for a rude awakening. If it had been Nega Burt then he would have simply spared the children and the mothers and moved to simply slay the men. However The hunger was now in control. Taking a deep breath The Hunger released a deathly wail that sent out a shock wave of Luna magic. The dark energy radiating from his body drained the power of the souls of the children and women inside of there tents. In pain they fell to the ground clenching there chest simply waiting to be killed.
The Hunger's Luna attack was picked up by the guards. However The Hunger was already inside of the camp. The four remaining guards moved in to deal with the problem, but the chief of the tribe was placed out of commission at the moment by the souls striking attack.
"What the hell", shouted one of the guards as he got a look at The Hunger. Without skipping a beat the Hunger sent forth a blast of dark magic. The neither energy slammed into the man's defensive stance and ripped him a new one. Magic seemed to be there one true weakness, The Hunger was going to exploit it. The second guard rushed up, but did not attack. He was waiting for the third and the fourth to show up. The Hunger could already tell what they where planning. If they surrounded him on four sides they could all rush forward and stab him. It was a good tactic, but The Hunger had other plans.
As the other guards moved to get into place The hunger once again called upon its power to damage the soul directly. From its body came a wave of soul damaging aura that not only drained the lives of the guardsmen, but also the young still inside of there tents. Unable to take the pain the Guardsmen fell to the ground holding his chest. It would be the last thing he would do. With a swipe of his sword The Hunger removed his head. He then moved to the next guardsmen who did not fare any better. With a swift swing so did his head fly form his body. The Hunger was on a roll today.
Moving to slay the forth guard The Hunger was in for a surprise. The man was not down, and as matters of facts he was still standing. With his Wa do in had he began to attack the Arum. However a lot of his strength was zapped from The Hunter's first attack. With a single powerful blow The Hunger knocked the sword out of his hand and sent it flying into the grass. He then rushed forward and stabbed his blade though the man's heart taking his life force for the sword.

The Hunger let out a low growl as it absorbed the warriors life force. Today was a good day. He still needed to finish off the women and children, but for the moment he had finished off all the guards, or at least he thought. As the hunger moved to enter the tents he heard the sound of a steed and the quick pace of galloping. One of the meat bags had escaped. It was a true pity, but little to concern The Hunger. Pressing into the nearest tent The Hunger continued his work. A half a hour later and the entire camp had been eliminated. However this was not enough. Not nearly enough. The Hunger needed more. He needed more lives to add to the sword. The blade desired more life force and The Hunger would comply.
"I need to find another tribe", spoke The Hunger as it walked out from the village. The white tents where stained red and the smell of death hung heavy in the air. It was then that the Hunger saw it. In the distance he could see riders. He could not tell how many, or truly how far away they where. The plains where difficult to navigate like that. All he truly knew was that they where coming. If he had to make a guess this was reinforcements brought by the one that got away. If he did that math then it would be safe to assume that it would take them half a hour to get here. "Oh looks like somebody brought deserts", spoke The hunger as he walked back in between the tents. The Hunger knew better than to charge a squad of riding horses. They would simply encircle him and shoot him to death with arrows. No he would let thing come closer to him.
"Alright scatter and find the beast", spoke a sacen man as he rode his horse up to the camp. He did not see the monster the boy described, but he saw its work. The blood of women and children stained the green grass and fire rose from the center of the encampment.
"Did they get attacked by a group of bandits", spoke one man who did not believe the boy's story.
"Bandits", spoke another as he looked at the bodies. "Bandits did not do this kind of work. No man could have done this. It must have been a pack of bear", spoke another disbeliever.
"A pack of bears, impossible", spoke another rider as he looked at the wounds of the dead. "Bears don't travel in packs and they don't leave cuts this clean. We are dealing with men and from the look of it", he spoke before he was cut off.
"One man and one very large sword", spoke a young women as she hopped back up onto her horse. "Maybe the boy ran into a bandit chief, or possibly that monster we heard about. Do you not remember the tales."
"That monster used a spear and wore black armor", spoke the leader as he began to move his horse closer toward the maiden. "This is obviously the work of a sword or maybe a large axe."
"Either way we need to find who did this", spoke another female sacaen as she drew her blade and began to walk toward the center of the camp.
"Hey don't be so reckless", spoke the second man as he drew his sword and began to follow her. "Wait for me I will back you up."
"Kina ride around the camp and see if you see anyone fleeing", spoke the leader to the first female swordswomen.
"Understood", spoke Kina as she kicked her horse and sent it around.
"The rest of you scatter around and see if you can find this devil", spoke the leader as he dismounted his horse. "Be it man or monster we can not allow it to get away with this kind of slaughter."
"Understood", spoke everyone as they began to move out. The duo that moved ahead of everyone else was approaching the fire that was raging inside of the camp. It was clear that the flame was recent by its strength and the way it burned. The pit dugged for it was to shallow. If it was left alone the fire would threaten the grasslands.
"Do you see anything Wrath", spoke the maiden to her partner as she moved through the camp with caution.
"If I did you would know Tera", he spoke as he scanned the area.

It had seemed some of the creatures that were spawned during the siege of Kenshin's home had escaped, some more deadly than the rest. Some of the rumors were of a man with pitch black skin slaughtering any in his path, it had sounded like Hargus but countless reports said he was killed in battle. After that event it could very well be possible that Hargus wasn't a one of a kind and the others like him are starting to appear after hearing their so called 'king's' revival and death. It had each time Kenshin had arrived to the location of the attacks, the attacker had moved on as quickly he had arrived.
The trail had quickly gone cold, but Kenshin didn't give up his pursuit. Then one day while he was in south Sacae he heard people saying they saw something that matched the monster's description entering from Bern. It wasn't long before he had found a trail of foot prints, they appeared to be made by a heavy guy. Quite possible a large man or one in armor, there were only a single set so it ruled out soldiers or a group of mercenaries. It was his only lead so he decided to take it just in case. Kenshin traveled in the direction they were heading and every so often he'd find a clue.
Then he had arrived to a tribe's village that was just recently slaughtered, he could see riders approaching it. The fiend must not have got far if he did leave, it was also possible that he saw them coming and planned to set up an ambush. Kenshin moved quietly towards some bushes and took cover as he drew his bow and knocked an arrow. If the fiend was still here, Kenshin would make sure it remained here.

"So do you think it is a actual monster or just so...", before she could finish her sentience footsteps filled the air. The maiden turned around quickly and raised her sword. From a nearby tent The Hunger rushed out and began his assault. The maiden raised her blade in defense as The Hunger brought down his sword. The power in his swing was far stronger than anything she anticipated. The clash caused her to loss her balance and the blow sent her falling to the ground.
"Tera", shouted the male sacaen as he rushed over to fight The Hunger. Swinging his blade horizontal the scaen aimed to force The Hunger into a clash to prevent him from pursuing the fallen maiden. The Hunger however was in no mood for any long term duel. As he slashed The Hunger swung his blade as he expected. However what he did not know was that The Hunger could channel the neither energy into his sword. As the two weapons clashed a exploitation of dark energy erupted from his sword causing the steel blade to snap from the strain.
"Wrath", shouted the maiden as she pulled herself off the ground, but it was too late. The Hunger had broken his sword and without missing a beat stabbed his vile blade into his gut. His life energy was quickly absorbed by the vile sword and the young man was no more.
"Tera, Wrath", shouted the others as they pushed there way into the camp. The Hunger had no plans on being attacked by four people at once. However fate seemed to have its plan.
"Holy crap the boy was right", spoke the unbeliever as he looked upon The Hunger. The burly beast did not move for a moment as it began to count of the amount of humans around it. The leader of the group had rode in on his horse and on the opposite side of him was the other maiden. She had a bow and was mounted. There where at least two more foot mounted swordsmen. The nonbeliever and the wench he nearly killed.
The maiden with bow looked around and saw the carnage. Her heart sunk at the very sight of such slaughter. It was then however she noticed the dead body of there clans men and everything just fell to pieces. "Wrath!" she shouted as she pulled back on her bow and fired. Her arrow initiated the the start of the battle between them.
As her arrow cut through the air The Hunger turned his body in response. Swinging his greatsword The Hunger sliced clean through the arrow. However that was not enough for him. As The Hunger's blade cut through the air he let loose a ball of black neither energy. The ball followed the path of the arrow and slammed into the maiden's horse killing the beast instantly.
"It is just like Hargus", shouted the leader as he pulled on his reins to charge forward. The other two swordsmen rushed forward as well. They needed to attack all at once if they wanted to take down the beast. However The Hunger already had a plan for this. As the three closed the gap The Hunger took a deep breath. From the bowls of its vial soul it let out a fearsome roar that traveled across the plains. For those in the immediate area they where hit by a powerful magic spell called Luna. The spell erupted from the beast body and followed the path of sound spewing from his mouth. The swordsmen and the rider all stopped and feel to there knees in agony as the magic began to sunder there very soul's itself. The leader of the group however got it worse. As the wave of magic hit his horse went berserk. The fear and pain of The Hunter's assault made it throw it's master off its back and flee in terror.
"What is this", spoke the leader as he recovered on the ground and looked up at the beast. The Hunger sat there for a moment as steam seemed to come from its mouth. The beast eyes burned a unnatural crimson and its black skin rippled as its body began to go into motion. With a mad dash to its right side The Hunger assaulted The Unbeliever. The man rose his sword in his defense, but he had not recovered from the attack on his soul from earlier. His arms where weak and his body unable to withstand the power of The Hunger's blade. The sword cleaved into the man's skull leaving a crimson stain on the ground.
"Hiko we need to get out of here", spoke Tera as she grabbed there leader by the arm and helped him to his feet. "The beast is too powerful."
"Where is my horse", asked the man as he looked around.
"Worry about that later", she spoke as she attempted to move.
"Where do you think you are going", spoke The Hunger as it turned around and placed its attention the two of them. Its blade dripped with the blood of there comrades and its burning eyes pierced straight into there souls.

Things were quite for a bit, but this wasn't out of the normal for Kenshin when he was hunting. He's been tracking his prey for a while now, he could be very close to it at the moment as well. This time, he was hunting some big game, he isn't about to let it slip through his fingers either. Kenshin used the time to rest a bit before the upcoming fight while he studied the layout of the make-shift village as well as it's surroundings, he couldn't risk bumping into something that was in his blind spot in this high risk battle.
As the riders began to search the town he tightened his grip on the bow, watching their movements closely. He almost wanted to call out the mistake they made by splitting up, whatever did this could be planing an ambush yet they walked right into his trap. His eyes kept darting back to the members of the party he could see, he changed his stance from knelling to a hunched over crouch. He took a couple of very slow steps to ensure he didn't create a noise to try to keep as many of them in his sight.
It was then Kenshin saw the assailant charge towards the duo, he raised his bow and pulled back the string waiting. The woman was currently engaging him in close combat, Kenshin figured the others would join in too. Launching the arrow now was too risky, his surprise attack could be ruined by one of the Sacaens getting in the path of the arrow and being stuck. The first one was struck down, quickly followed by the second one. The two remaining had seemed to be attempting to flee.
Without hesitation Kenshin released the string, sending the arrow flying towards the black creature. If his surprise attack fails to kill the creature he would use himself as bait for the others to escape. Kenshin dropped his bow as well as removed his quiver. Stepping from the bushes he kept himself hidden in he grabs the scabbard on his newly reforged Regal Blade, remade into the Sacaen style blade he was used to, with his left hand. He didn't say a word, his gaze did all the talking for him.

The Hunger raised his blade prepared to strike when a sudden flash of light grabbed his attention. Immediately The Hunger swung his blade deflecting the arrow and grabbing his attention. The Hunger turned to see a familiar face. At first he was just another human to be slain, but then the meat bag's memories began to surface and The Hunger realized who was standing before him. During the battle of The City of Heroes the meatbag had fought beside this man. He remembered his rage and furry on the battlefield and his loss against the fake Hargus. Yes The Hunger knew him well and it knew his skill level. At this point the two nearly dead weaklings did not matter. The Hunger was sure they had strong life forces, but they would be nothing compared to the man standing in front of him. Not to mention he was a actual threat unlike the cannon fodder.
One thing was clear to The Hunger, this was not a opponent he could defeat with brute force alone. The Hunger was powerful, but this man could match him. The meat bag he controlled had more experience fighting with axes than blades so this placed him at a slight disadvantage. Still The Hunger had the one weapon that not even Kenshin could defend from. It had its howl, a minor ability when compared to its more destructive blast from his vile blade, but it would serve as the corner stone for its battle plan. Unlike the blast the Howl was not only quick, but aimed in all directions. If he could hit the man with enough of them he was sure he could bring the man down to his knees. There was no defense for your soul, yes, The Hunger had its plan.
The beast suddenly clinched its blade as a wolfish grin crossed its face. "So we meet again meat", spoke the beast as it began to draw upon the power of the neither. The plan had been set, but that did not mean that The Hunger would simply sit back and wait. No that was not its style. That was not the meatbag's style. As his family use to say all the time, Burt was a wolf, and The Hunger turned him into a Hell Hound. Without wasting another moment The Hunger suddenly jumped forward. The beast skipped the encroaching steps and simply threw itself into the air in a way very similar to a axe attack. With his entire body behind the blade The Hunger hunger came down with a force to be recon with. He did not expect to hit his target, as if the legendary swordsmen would try to block that kind of attack, but instead relied on the power of his magic sword. As the blade hit the ground it erupted into a furry of explosive energy and swirling black tendrils. The creature rose up and recovered from its attack and turned it's eyes on The Crimson Demon. A ferocious flame raged inside of its eyes as The Hunger stared into the man's very soul.

As the monster ahead of Kenshin had started his charge, Kenshin twisted the scabbard where the cutting edge faced away from him. From there he used his index finger's knuckle to break the seal, showing the habaki. He then placed his right foot forward and prepared to launch a counter attack before the monster could. When Burt had took to the air Kenshin knew that was an extremely risky attack, as well as stupid. It leaves the person doing it completely open for any sort of counter attack, but something was off. The jump was too soon, either Burt had miscalculated the distance or it was for another reason.
Neither of them mattered to Kenshin, he was going to capitalize on that mistake regardless. Shifting his weight to his right foot he began to run towards him about the same moment Burt came slamming into the ground with his sword. It didn't take long for the tendrils to reach up from the ground, there was space between them. Kenshin had dodged them swaying at him all while moving towards Burt still. If somebody was to be watching the fight, it would have looked almost as if Kenshin was dancing with the tendrils. As he quickly closed the gap between him and his target, Kenshin extended his right hand in front of him, he pushed the scabbard forward towards his hand. Grasping the hilt of the blade he began to pull the scabbard back while he released the blade forward.
After he made the attack, Kenshin snapped his wrist downward pulling the blade back towards him. The attack was executed as swiftly as Kenshin's approach. Hargus alone was a terror to worry about, Kenshin wasn't going to allow his followers, or even copy cats, roam Elibe.

What the world, thought The Hugner to himself as the swordsmen somehow managed to dance through his sea of tendrils. It was impossible, inconceivable, down right fictitious, but some how the man pulled it off. The move had caught The Hunger off guard so much that he had little to no time to try and doge it. The best he could do was to lean back and try to mediate the damage. The blade cut through the flimsy shirt worn by the meat bag and cut into his flesh. The gash covered across his right side of his chest as the creature leaned back toward its left. As the champion re-sheathed his blade the creature jumped back to create some space. The wound was a deep one and blood began to flow out. However The Hunger could manage. The meat bag was tough and he was sure he could finish the fight, thought he was going to need to stop the bleeding before too long. He may be possessing the body, but it was still the body of a mortal man.
The creature took a deep breath and began to breath out steam. It was clear to it that his opponent was skilled and had agility far beyond what it thought was possible. He had came up with a plan in his head, but from what he was seeing he was going to have to expedite it. Reaching into its back pocket The hunger pulled out one of the items the Meat Bag has picked up in Bern during one of there raids. It was a devilish little thing that would give it the advantage over his opponent. Skilled as he was he could not fight as well with his vision blurred. The Hunger tossed the item forward and once it hit the ground it released a great cloud of smoke. The smoke bomb blurred the regular vision filling it with smoke and dust. Taking advantage of this The Hunger rushed into the cloud and cleared the gap of space between him and the one wielding the blade. It was true that not only was meat in front of him vision blurred by the dust, but also The Hunger. However The Hunger did not need to see in order to act.
As the hunger rushed into the cloud he let out a fearsome roar that released a dark magic from his body. All around him erupted a shock wave of neither energy that drained the souls of all those around him. The Hunger did not need to see the crimson haired meat in order to damage him. All he needed was for him to be in range. It was the first of many attacks to come. If he was going to try and use speed to his advantage then The Hunger would simply use space to his. If he could control the space in which the swordsmen could strike he could take him down. Once he was to weak to stand The Hunger would return the favor from the gash he received across his chest.

Stop
Just as the roar had left Burt's lips, his body froze. You could say it was an invisible force that had stopped him, but it was more accurate to say that his mind was no longer one with his body. It wasn't that something was holding him in place, but that the thoughts and feelings that the Hunger's host used to direct and control himself now fell on deaf ears. It was almost as if his mind had been removed from his brain.
This red-headed man was at the City of Heroes. He was the one for whom Hargus's rage and desire for vengence burned most brightly.
The magical auras and spells that the Hunger had cast immediately dissipated. All that was left was the rhytmic pulse of Burt's skin, which rippled and strained as if it was trying to release itself from the muscular form to which it was affixed. Of course it did not succeed, and as if realizing the fulitity of such an effort, the the runes that ran up the face of Damonzahn's black blade began to glow a dark purple.
The light of his soul shines brightly. Far brighter than yours.
From underneath the eyes of Hunger's host oozed a thick, black, tar-like sludge. Slowly it ran down Burt's darkened face, down his arms, then upon reaching his elbows quickly flowed up into the cursed sword he held as if it was being sucked inside. The glow of Damonzahn then ceased, and the black, smokey skin that covered Burt's body began to fade into a sickly grey.
Farewell, human. Though not productive, you have been most useful.

Kenshin had wasted no time to get in his next stance, he shifted his body where the left side was facing his foe while slightly squatting. Kenshin brought both hands holding the hilt close to his forehead and the blade pointing towards Burt, with the cutting edge facing upwards. Kenshin had considered a defensive stance only for a split second, the man had seemed a lot slower than him so he knew he could land a swift blow while avoiding whatever attack the man made towards him.
What happened next caught Kenshin off guard, the man reached into a small bag and threw a small item which created smoke in the area, the battlefield was now covered in the smoke. That did not matter to Kenshin, the larger size of the man made it easier to hear as he would charge forward. Kenshin heard a roar from the man, that was a signal that he was beginning his charge towards him. Suddenly he stopped hearing footsteps, perhaps he was trying a reckless jump once again. With this smoke he knew he couldn't simply avoid it.
Changing his stance once again, he brought his left arm forward where it would be covering his face and laying the side of his blade along his arm. It was some time since he no longer heard the man moving as well the lack of an attack but Kenshin didn't break that stance. Kenshin could now feel a breeze to his back, it was also clearing the battlefield of the smoke. He saw the man standing still not very far from Kenshin, almost like he was slumped over while standing. His skin was now a sickly gray instead of the black it once was. Kenshin had took notice to his appearance of already being dead, but he wasn't going to take the chance of him playing possum in order to walk away alive. Kenshin moved the blade around him as he stepped in slashing downwards into the man.
He fell over bleeding profusely while dropping the sword he had in his hand. Kenshin walked over towards him stabbing his sword into the man's throat to make sure he was truly dead. This was the first time since the fight started he had a chance to look at the sword, he almost instantly recognized it. He had seen that blade before when he fought Richter back in Bern, now that he thought about it he didn't see Richter with it not too long ago. The question was why didn't he have it and why did it appear here today?
Pulling his blade from the dead body he swung it to throw any blood off of the blade before running a cloth across it to clear up any blood left behind before returning it to the scabbed. Tearing off a large piece of the man's shirt he wrapped it around the blade he was using before picking it up. Richter had some explaining to do the next time he saw him.
