"Hmm", spoke Wei as he began to think on what Tiz said. It was true that if he wanted his attacks to work he was going to need to be faster. Speed was a primal force in combat. If you where slow you would never win the same way if you are weak you can't win either. Looking at it that way it made sense. He needed to be faster than his opponent and hit harder than them. Both speed and power, the two seemed a bit oxymoron, but it made some sense. Though Wei had no idea how in the world to make it happen. Most of the time you could only really focus on one. You could train yourself to become stronger, but that extra muscle would weigh you down and tire you out. You could train to become faster, but the training would weaken your muscle build up. Then you will be hitting with less power. You could try both, but that usually ends up with you being good in neither. "Ba humbug", spoke Wei as he left the thought where it was.
"Where were you looking at", spoke wei trying to change the conversation and thought. Thinking on training and combat was starting to give him a head ache. There was only so much he could do really. The young journeyman turned in the direction that he was staring at before, but saw nobody. His friend Elpis had moved away from the stand and made his way back around. The young boy was starting to wounder if this Tiz fellow was super human. He wanted to test that, but he could not do it with the man keeping a half eye on him. Going around the stands Elpis picked up a rock and moved back around the crowd and made his way to the opposite side of where the two of them where located. He then waited for a moment to try and throw a rock and see if the swordsmen could react to it.
"As for the friend thing, well it is usually a after battle thing", spoke Wei as he rubbed the back of his head. It was in that moment that Elpis decided to strike. He threw the rock toward the man's back. Let see if he can dodge a attack he can not see, thought Elpis to himself as the rock sailed through the air.

Tiz chuckled as the boy clearly tried to reason through his explanation. It was a tough call, training for various types of fighting, foregoing some skills and traits for others. It was why an effective combat unit was made up of different types of fighters-- if you can balance out the group's weaknesses, you become as close as you can get to invincible. That was one of the very first things the League had taught him. It was why, most often, he was placed with heavily-armored units and mages, instead of other swordsman, save for the time period in which he was captain of the 1st Swordfaire Division.
"Don't worry about it so much. I'm sure you'll be a great warrior someday. Hell, you've got plenty of traits already that make you one." Tiz leaned back on his arms, opening the palms of his hands to the warm, soft sand. He fixed his eyes above, counting the stars. When Wei asked his question, Tiz was distracted again, in the middle of trying to find constellations. "Oh, I was... looking for that kid, the one that seems to know you. I think he might be homeless or something, I don't know. He--"
Suddenly Tiz's focus was broken as he felt a sharp sting in his back. He quickly leaped up and wheeled around, and below him on the sand he saw a rock. His eyes quickly traced a direct path forward, up from the rock in a straight line to see the same kid about whom he had been talking. No way. The kid was throwing rocks at him? Tiz sighed. What had he done?
"...That kid. That's the one." Tiz scratched the back of his neck. "What's up with this?" He turned to Wei, confused above all else. "Rocks? I mean, sure, I'm on some sh*t lists, but... Geez." Tiz smiled weakly, trying to find the boy again.

"Kid", spoke Wei as he started to think who Tiz was talking about. It was a shame that he had to think about it, but Wei and Elpis did not think of themselves as kids so the question went over his head for a moment. It was in that brief moment of thinking that the rock hit. "Elpis", spoke Wei as he turned and looked at the lad. With a stare of confirmation Elpis did well to try and vanish. "What in the world ... oh." Wei stopped and placed his hand on his face completing the face palm. "Sorry about that", he spoke as he began to give off a long sigh. "Elpis is probably doing this because of the battle. He always had a way of trying to either get people back or show me up. I lost so I figured it is to get back at you. That or he was testing you. He likes to try and figure people out at times. Still we won't really know the reason unless he writes it down."
"Hey Elpis", shouted Wei. The young boy had disappeared again and he did not want to go and try to find him. "Stop throwing rocks and come here", he shouted. He did not expect a response and he did not get one either. "He is probably watching from the crowd or simply staying out of sight. He did hit you with a rock after all", spoke Wei. "Elpis can't beat me in a fight so I am sure he would not try you up in one either. Though he did throw a rock, which is weird considering that we where talking to each other. What in the world are you thinking", spoke Wei as he placed his hand on his chin. The young boy began to ponder the mind of his friend.

"Elpis, huh? Geez..." Tiz's voice was lighthearted, but concerned nonetheless. Regardless of the fact that he'd been struck in the back with a rock, it was unsettling that the kid had felt that it was an okay thing to do. Having beaten his friend in a fight or not, Tiz wanted a word with the kid. He seemed mischievous, which was fine enough-- Tiz had those streaks in him. But to throw a rock? He couldn't let that just happen, could he?
Conflicted, Tiz got up on his feet, standing to his full height, and reached behind him to gently massage the spot on his back where he'd been struck. He 'hmm'ed quietly to himself, scanning the horizon. He could see nothing. The night's events were just beginning to unfold, and the crowd was thickening... If they were going to find this kid, they'd have to start looking soon. Despite wanting to talk to him and be the "adult" in the situation, it would be best to return Wei to his friend and be on his way. Tiz guessed that carnivals probably weren't for him.
As Wei spoke, Tiz raised an eyebrow. "Write it down? Is the kid mute?" His voice was of genuine concern, and suddenly he felt bad about both his station and that of the other boy that he now couldn't find. The poor kid was probably suffering more greatly than Tiz realized, and he tried to calm himself down enough to consider that perhaps the best idea would be to just find him and make sure he didn't get himself into any more trouble. "Either way, come on. Let's go find him. I want to be sure he's not getting in any more trouble."
Tiz walked forward, away from the ring, and into the mass of the crowd, towards the main line of tents that dotted the top of the beachfront, further away from the sea. He gently pushed his way through the crowd, looking down below the necks of most of the other people that were casually shopping and laughing. If the boy didn't want to be found, Tiz guessed he probably wouldn't be... But it wouldn't stop him from looking.

"Crap", spoke Wei as he rubbed the back of his head. Elpis never liked it when he told people that he was a mute. Wei never understood it, but he always got upset when he talked about it. It was not like it was not true or they won't find out. Still he had spilled the beans and as a result he was going to get angry stares for a while. "Yeah he is a mute", spoke Wei. "From what I understand he was born that way so it is not like it just happened or anything. So far Wei has been able to take care of himself, but understanding his motivations and reasoning gets tough sometimes when he can't speak."
Tiz spoke about Elpis getting into trouble. Wei did not think much about it because, well it was Elpis. Elpis if anybody was the person he suspected to get in the least amount of trouble. He had a way of slipping out of it. Then again he did get thrown in jail when the two of them where still lads. It would probably be best if they found him. Especially if he decides to throw more rocks. One rock won't hurt, but many rocks is a danger. What in the world was going through his mind wondered Elpis.
"Word of advice check high places", shouted Wei to Tiz as he moved off to search in a different direction. If they moved together he was sure Elpis would avoid them masterly. He had a skill for that.
As the duo separated Elpis moved back into the crowd. He did not catch the conversation, be he was sure that Tiz was angry. Best thing to do is to stay out of sight and Elpis did not want to get caught. Pushing his way thought the crowd Elpis headed toward a shack on the upper level of the docks. Not only could he get a good view of everything there, but he knew the place like the back of his hand. It was plenty of space to duck into and hide.

Tiz sighed, stopping in the middle of a small crowd around the tents. "Hard to express... Right." He said aloud, quietly and to himself, lost amidst a sea of people all trying to feverishly spend their money, as if they wanted to get rid of it, on whatever they could find. Tiz looked around, hard, trying to find something-- anything-- that would lead him in the direction of the kid they'd lost. He sighed angrily, gently pushing past another group of women buying fans. He tried his best to find the smaller, dark-skinned child, but was coming up empty at every turn. In every tent, on every pathway, every crowd-- the boy simply couldn't be found. Slightly angry, Tiz guessed this is what he wanted. Often, mischievous kids could not be found when they didn't want to be. He'd been much like that as a kid. So if he could think like the kid could, maybe he could...
Was that him? Tiz's head perked up above the crowd, catching a dark-haired boy running and weaving through a crowd of people. Dissatisfied, Tiz looked back down. His skin was too light to be this Elpis that Wei had talked about. That had been his only lead, and it was useless... Sighing, Tiz turned into a tent that sold handmade tapestries, looking around to see if he could find the boy. His eyes darted across the space, earnestly trying to spot a darker-skinned boy that he could talk to.
"Looking for something?"
As he was about to turn out and leave, the owner of the shop, a small, grey-headed woman spoke to him with a smile on her face. Tiz blushed a little, smiling as he did, and approached the woman. It would be rude not to at least speak to her once he'd been spoken to. "Haha, yeah, actually... A, um, boy. There's a boy that's been running around here, and I think he's... well, I need to find him. I'm worried about him." It wasn't a lie. Truthfully, Tiz WAS worried about him.
"Ahh, yes," the woman began with a smile, understanding his plight. Somehow. "I've seen such a child. Mischievous-looking, a bright smile on his face. He ran past here a while ago, toward the docks. I didn't see him after he headed that direction. He could be headed up to the shack, out to the sea, to the boats-- who knows. But that's the last I saw of him. Care to buy a--"
Tiz flashed the woman a bright, happy smile, his face illuminating with the news he'd received. "Thanks!" He almost shouted, then turned and darted, running past people towards the docks. Now, where could he have gone...

Wei began his search for his friend, thought he did it a lot slower than Tiz did. For Wei it was a matter of hunting. If you ran around you would never find him. You have to think like Elpis and act like Elpis if you wanted to figure out where he was. The young boy looked at some of the tents and figured which ones would be easy to sneak into without being detected. He looked at the people who where running the shops and guessed there personalities by facial expressions. Following that idea he could see where Elpis would have snuck into a shot to avoid the crowd and move out the side to get back into it. Following with his eyes he could see the way things flowed.
"If I was Elpis where would I go", spoke Wei as he looked around. His eyes happen to go up as he saw the shack overlooking everything. "Sorry bird brain but you like high places to much to pass that up", spoke Wei as he began to run off. He was willing to bet his small finger and his right leg on this one. "Might need to find Tiz", spoke Wei to himself. He then began to doubt weather or not if he should tell Tiz about Elpis whereabouts. He was not completely sure how he would react when he finally did catch the young boy. It was complete mischief on Elpis part with the rocks, but he was not sure how Tiz saw it. He was the one hit by the rock. "Alright I will find him first and then figure out what Tiz plans to do."
As the young Wei made his way toward the shack atop the docks Elpis looked down on him with glee. A smile crossed his face as his friend was able to deduce his location. Still he did not see the other man. Elpis was not sure if he should be worried or if he was simply in the clear.

"The docks... Right?"
Tiz placed both his hands on his hips, his frame leaned outward as he stared out towards the sea. There was only a small handful of ships the dotted the piers, some coming in, and Tiz guessed it was for the festival. Few were leaving-- those that did were of the elderly, the ones who probably couldn't stay the full night for the entirety of the festivities. For Tiz, it was a matter of coming, enjoying himself all he could, then going home.
He thought now that his time was coming to an end. What he thought would be a night of fun and frolic had turned into an unfair duel, meeting a kid, and getting stoned. Now that he stood atop the edge of the docks, looking out at the water, he wasn't sure that luck was on his side. Every time he wanted to have a good time and enjoy himself doing something silly or lighthearted, trouble always found him. He wondered if his run of bad luck would come to an end soon, but guessing it likely wouldn't, The Sacaen sighed and turned back around, scanning the scenery for the younger boy that had hit him. Honestly, if he couldn't find the kid, Tiz would move on. It wasn't that big a deal... But the rock had definitely hurt quite a bit.
Seeing no one, Tiz approached a sailor, untying a rope from a hook on the edge of his small craft. He stood in front of the man to grab his attention. "Uh, hey, have you seen a little kid around here recently? About this tall--" Tiz reached his hand up to about his stomach, indicating the boy's height. "--dark skin, dark hair? We're um... We need to find him. I'm not sure where his parents are..."
The sailor scoffed and looked away, shoving a finger towards an old, decrepit-looking shack. In there, seriously? Why would anyone ever go in there?
Biting his lip, Tiz decided to try his luck. He walked towards the shack door and rapped against it, opening it slowly. The old wooden door creaked loudly, and Tiz could hardly see anything inside. "Uh... Hello?"

As Wei approached the shack he saw his friend hop down from the top and move into a window. "So I was right", spoke Wei as he gave a long sigh. They had wasted so much time with this. He wondered if that Tiz guy was around here, thought he doubted it. He probably gave up and went home. That was what most people would do in this kind of situation. Tracking down Elpis was not a easy feat, the boy had a way of getting around and understanding his train of thought was much harder than Wei made it out to be. To the young journeyman's surprise he saw Tiz walk through the door. Elpis was going to be in for a surprise. Wei could see the young lad's face now.
As Elpis saw Wei approached he hopped down from the roof and swung into the house from a open window. Taking a seat at a old wooden chair Elpis decided he would go ahead and write out what he was going to say to his friend. It was a real pain that he could not talk. He was looking into trying to find a way to heal his throat so he could speak, but that was a life time goal. He doubted he could find something while he was still a boy. However he did find out that there friend was not all knowing. The way he handeled Wei made him wounder as much. He made sure to include that part in his writting. That was what the rock was for after all. It was then when he was in the middle of his writing that he heard the door open. A unfamiliar voice came in along with a face the young boy did not want to see.
The moment Tiz walked through the door Elpis panicked. He had not seen him coming and did not exspect him to be here. Naturally he attempted to flee toward the window he jumped in from, but the leg of the chair caught him and turned the table over. With a flurry of bad luck the ink drum he was using fell over onto his head spilling the black liquid in his hair. A expression of discuss covered his face as he whipped a bit of the ink out of his hair and onto his hand.

As Tiz stepped through the door, a wave of confusion hit him like the weight of ten horsemen riding across the plains. The day was strange enough as it was, and it was continually being made more strange with each passing event. Some circus this had turned out to be... Though, he thought, a circus indeed, since it was wild and unexpected, much like he'd figured a circus was... supposed to be? Tiz wasn't sure. He didn't really give himself the time to think, though, as he stepped through the door.
"Oh, uh..." He outstretched his hand, as if such a gesture could have stopped the child from falling over himself, spilling ink everywhere and knocking the chair down with him. What a mess. Tiz sighed, making his way slowly and diligently over to where the boy had fallen. Unsure of what exactly to do, he pulled a cloth bandage normally used for wrapping wounds out of the pocket from behind his waist, and knelt down beside the boy. With a furrowed brow and an inquisitive gaze, Tiz pondered his situation. Had he really come into this much madness that he was going to clean ink from the face of a child who had thrown a rock at him in an unfamiliar place in an unfamiliar town with unfamiliar faces? What was going on, anyway? Tiz sighed again, hesitating at first to reach over to the boy. "Elpis, was it? Right? Wei, uh, told me..." His voice trailed off as he attempted to clean the ink from the boy's face.
"Don't be scared, I'm not mad or anything. Just a little confused. Here, you've got uh... Well, you've got ink everywhere..." He laughed a little, his heart lightening despite the confusing circumstances. "Are you..." He wasn't quite sure how to make smalltalk. He swallowed hard as he tended to the ink on the boy's face. "From around here? You're friends with this Wei, right?"
