No matter where she looked, Marle could only see green grass. That was probably one of the things she could never get used to, having soft, and something warm underfoot was actually a nice change of things. She had only come to Sacae one other time, to meet Richter's army and reinforce it. Of course, she was late, everything about that certain battle had already been decided. It brought back some interesting memories.
The only thing the young woman probably didn't care for, was the heat. Sure, it wasn't as hot as Nabata probably was, but for a northener like her, used only to cold, snow and ice, this was unreal for her. With a free hand, the armored woman wiped at her brow, working the sweat off her head with a handkerchief. The other hand, however, held the reigns of a donkey, leading it along as it was loaded up with all of her necessities needed for the trip. Loaded to the beast, was all of her food, and the lodging she would use. Still, the view wasn't that bad, and the wind was making it a bit easier for her to bear the temperature. it felt nice, with a long steady gust streaming in her direction.
The road was well worn, and with every step she took, her armor rattled. She didn't carry her weapons with her, nor her shield. Why burden herself any more in the heat she was not used to. Normally, she would have traveled without the armor even worn, but things weren't as safe as they'd use to be. Who knew when ruffians and vagabonds would show themselves. There were not many trees on the plains, but the grass off tot he side of the road was tall enough to conceal a few men if spread properly.
"Damn heat..." she mumbled to herself, taking another wipe at her forehead with the fabric, before tucking it back inside of her bracer. The weight of her armor seemed even more heavy than normal, but at least the metal, when it did touch her skin, felt nice. Stopping at a crossroads, the former Knight began to look in all three directions, seeming puzzled. With a sigh, she released the reigns of her donkey, and began to take out her map. This area was sporting a few trees, and lead her carrier animal beneath one, to which it began eating the furtive grass, while Marle leaned up against a tree to look over the Sacaen map. "Now...which way do I go.."

"So are we there yet", spoke a tan skin read head girl as shew walked down the road. At her waist was a silver blade, which ddid not belong to her, and in front of her was a dark skin man clad in a green breastplate with a pitch black gauntlet on his right hand side. On his back was the mighty and mystical War Hammer Xigshaw. The weapon was massive and had a exotic look. On his waist was a iron sword, which belonged to the young girl following behind him and strapped to his left arm was a shield that ran the entire length of his arm. The design was excellent for using both a single handed blade and switching to use a two handed war axe. Orcleous however only recently adopted it and was getting use to the feel.
"No we are not there yet", spoke Orcleous as he continued to walk down the road. A expression of annoyance covered his face as his, supposedly pupil, followed behind him. She was terrible with the sword and Orcleous never dreamed of giving her a axe. She was as wet behind the ears as he was when he first started and to be truthful she was annoying. However she had lost her family in a monster attack and Orcleous was literately the only person she had left. The Hero could not simply leave her alone in this dark and cold world so he decided to take her along. However she soon became a annoyance and now Orcleous was returning to Bern. She did not know it, but he was going to leave her with his family back in his home town. He knew they would take care of her and besides she was safer that way. Orcleous was in Lycia to fight monsters, not baby sit.
"Man this place is boring it is just grass on top of grass", spoke the maiden as she put her hands around the back of her head.
"Don't let the grassland fool you", spoke Orcleous as he walked. The Hero kept a eye on the horizon and every hill they passed. "It was in this boring grassland that I saw and fought the two most fearsome opponents in my life. The first was a half man half horse monster and the second was that black armored thing people are talking about."
"Wait what", spoke the maiden as she looked at ORcleous with confusion. What he said made no sense, thought she heard about the black armored monster. Everyone seemed to know about it and it put a bad light on her master. Still she was surprise to figure out that he fought a half horse half man monster. "Hold on a second what is a half horse half man monster."
"I will tell you later", spoke Orcleous as the duo reached the crossroad. It was here that Orcleous saw the donkey and what seemed to be a armored women sitting under a tree. "Now that is a strange sight", he spoke as he began to walk off the path to greet the maiden.
"Hey Orcleous", shouted Xeldine as she attempted to regain the attention of her master.

The woman had become quite engrossed in the map. She seemed puzzled, and somewhat irritated. She knew how to get around Ilia with ease, but Sacae was a different beast. She just didn't know, and a lot of the road signs had been missing due to bandits most likely. Sacaens were nomadic, and didn't really have a kind of governemnt that looked over this sort of care. She could be wrong, he information was old, but that was how her mind worked. Still, she traced her finger along the mark of the river that she had come across a ways back, but she was no longer walking along it...she knew she was headed south by the direction the sun was setting, but that didn't tell her really where she was in this land. People were also few and far between.
I knew I should have asked that merchant for directions. 'How hard could it be to find Bern,' Damn you're a fool Marle Daviau.
With a sigh, she looked up at the leaves of the tree. The sun was high, probably midday? It was still hot, and wearing the armor really helped, right? However, her attention was so engrossed in that daydreaming, she didn't hear the duo approach her position until the exclaimation of "Hey Orcleous" was loud and clear. Marle immediately looked towards her donkey, noting the distance away she was from her weapons, she could grab her spear, couldn't she? Better not risk it. instead, Marle stood up, patting away at her backside from where she was resting, not that she could feel there was dirt, just habit.
"Good day."
Simple enough greeting for any stranger. She gave them both a once over as they approached, noting the weapons they both wore. Both wore weapons, not an uncommon sight. Even farmers would wear weapons these days, it was easy to tell who could use them though. The young man that was with the girl. He could definitely do that.

Orcleous looked at the maiden with a puzzled look. It seemed that he had startled her a bit. This was bad. A startled person did one or two things. The first was do something embarrassing, the second was draw a weapon. Orcleous was not looking for a fight, nor was he trying to make the maiden feel unsafe. The moment he saw her startled expression he stopped in his place. It was the best way to say I am not a threat, or at least in his mind. "Greetings", spoke the dark skin man as he waved his hand, still a few paces back. As the maiden looked at Orcleous, Orcleous looked at her. He noticed that she did not have a weapon in hand, which was not a good sign. Either this women was green or so confident she did not think she needed it. Sacae is a vast place, but it is far from safe. Orcleous always made it a rule of his to keep his weapon at his side. With a slight turn of the head Orcleous looked at the donkey and understood. "You should keep it a habit to keep at least one weapon on you", spoke Orcleous as he took a step back encase the maiden felt threaten.
"Hey Orcleous", spoke Xeldine as she came up from behind him. The maiden pulled on his arm to grab his attention. "Hey you need to tell me about the man horse thingy! You heard me talking to you before and you just ignored it!"
"I ignored it because I was busy", spoke Orcleous as he turned his gaze toward the maiden. He still kept a eye on the other women for good measure. She did not seem like a bandit or a threat, but you never know. The moment you drop your guard you can end up dead.
"Your always busy when there is another women around. I wounder why is that", spoke Xeldien as she looked at Orcleous.
"Oh good lord women", spoke Orcleous as the young girl began to get on his nerves. "Look they are called Tarvos, if I remember correctly. If you want to know more you will have to visit a library or something. I really can't tell you much."
"Yet you fought them", she added.
"Yes I did, but it was quite a while ago and besides I don't really know much about them. It was like two years ago."
"Well then you just have to tell me the story then. Not like you have anything better to do. The trip back to Bern has been a bore anyway."
Orcleous gave off a long sigh. What was with this girl, he thought. She was not only clingy but also jealous. Every time someone else came up she got all clingy. At the very least Orcleous knew it was not because of attraction. She had the same response with everybody be both man or women. He wondered if it had something to do with how they meet or if she was always like that.
"Fine I will tell you the story. However it will be after I talk to the traveler first", spoke the Hero as he turned away from the girl and began to focus back on the maiden. "Sorry about that. I just wanted to know how the road has been", spoke Orcleous as he rubbed the back of his head.

What an odd pair.
It was the first thought when she was watching the two of them. That girl sure was handsy, and loud. Kind of like a young Claire. That made her lips curl into a smile as she watched the two of them interact with one another. It was nice. Marle never had a sort of relationship with another person like that. She was usually too cold and uncaring, a result of trying to protect herself from harm, but she knew, it always backfired on her. She still remembered how Tiz reacted to her. She sighed, softly, but it was still a sigh.
She knew he was watching her, they both apparently knew what to expect out of each other. She didn't carry the weapon for a few good reasons, one of them being, a lance is an awful thing to carry and travel with, it wasn't as easy as a sword, where it could sit on her hip. She could have placed it along her back, but if she needed it quickly, it might still take some time. The other, it was heavy, even her light lance, wearing this kind of armor, well, every extra weight was obvious. Green eyes casting over towards her donkey, she saw it hadn't even moved. it did look up, eyeing the strangers, before lowering it's head to eat more grass.
Tarvos? What are those?
She seemed interested, wanting to ask herself, but it would be rude to interrupt, even though it seemed the man wanted to speak with her, the younger girl kept his attention through sheer will of her own. Though, she did hear Bern, and her interest was immediately peaked, even going so far as to ask, but she was first to be addressed.
"It's been quiet, for the most part. I'm not normally used to roads this empty though. So far, you and her are the third encounter I've had today. I only just settled here for a moment, afraid I might have gotten turned around, maybe taken a wrong road. I'm sorry to say, I was eavesdropping," not that it was hard, with them that close and that loudly speaking to one another, "But you mentioned Bern, are you infact heading there as well?"

"Can't ease drop on a open conversation", spoke Orcleous as he let himself laugh a bit. It was then that the women mentioned Bern, which caught his attention. She was heading to Bern then. Well she was lucky to run into them then. This place was a bit confusing with all the missing signs and messed up roads. Orcleous knew his way through travelers memory. He spent some time in this area a few years back and had gotten lost here. At this point he was simply following the old paths and looking at his map as a mere reference. "Yeah we are heading to Bern. Going to pass through a few of the northern mountains and head into the western section", spoke Orcleous. The hero had not noticed, but he called them the Northern mountains. Most people from the north refereed to them as southern, but as a boy from Bern, they where always northern.
"Wait why are you telling her that", spoke Xeldine as she looked at Orcleous. Here she was again pulling back into her bad habits. Orcleous was starting to wounder if she was xenophobic. "Remember the last time we got into a conversation with strangers on the road. It ended up with ups being ambushed by bandits, or about that tip you had about the number of undead on a path. We ran into twice the number the man told us. Besides was it not you who told me not to just trust people on the side of the road. Remember any of them could be working for anybody. It is best to mind your own business."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa clam down", spoke Orcleous as he raised his hands in his own defense. "The last time with the bandits was not my fault. The women was clearly ..."
"Bait to lure us into a trap", spoke Xeldine. "Every time there is a pretty face you drop your guard and we get into trouble. The zombie rode job. There was a simply dressed lady who asked you to clear it. You jumped up on that one pretty quick."
"First off she was not skimpy dressed", spoke Orcleous. If he could blush he would be at the moment as he remembered the maiden and her dancer dress. "It was clearly a traditional Nabatan..."
"Skimpily dressed", spoke Xeldine with annoyance.
"Anyway", spoke Orcleous. "She needed help clearing the rode so her and her troop can travel through. It was a good deed. Besides you got some combat experience out of it."
"I nearly got my face clawed off", she spoke angerly as she looked at Orcleous.
"But you did not, so you learned how to be a better fighting." Before the maiden could say anything Orcleous raised his voice to talk over her. "This region of sacae has horrible signs and has been poorly documented. It is easy to get lost here. It is our duty as travelers to help each other and no it has nothing to do with the gender of the individual."
"Really", she spoke as she looked at him. Her eyes pierced into him like a arrow in a wyvern's wing.
"Completely honest", spoke Orcleous as he turned back toward the armored maiden. He was already putting on a poor impression thanks to his apprentice. "Yes we are heading that way. Though I have to warn you the route we are taking is a bit winding. I learned it from simply walking through the area rather than following a few signs. So if you are trying to go straight there then you are better off figuring out which way is south and simply walk in that direction. The route I take follows the flow of the land so we will turn north for a bit and then go back down south on a natural path."

There they go again, getting into another fight created by the girl. It was funny for the most part though. She used to be like that a long time ago, when she wasn't frightened. Ah, how she had lost so much in a few years time. With a hand on her hip, she watched, waiting until they would settle down once again. Eventually, she knew the girl would calm down, well, concede to her companion, anyways. Still...it was nice to be called pretty, even if it was from a girl. She had not really heard that a lot. She scowled, or seemed depressed too often to make good on her appearance. Also, the armor was pretty unbecoming of a woman, though it was fitted for her specifically. A perk of being of a higher rank in the Ilian military.
She did frown a little by the mention Orcleous made about their travel route. It seemed out of the way, but if it was a more streamlined way of reaching their destination, who was she to bring up a complaint? She knew nothing here. With a nod of understanding to the fellow before her, the General went off to grab the reigns of her donkey, pulling it up with a bit of a fight on her end. The creature didn't seemed pleased, whining as she pulled it from it's meal.
"Well...it seems pretty round-a-bout way of getting there, but you know better than I do. Would it be rude to impose on you until then? If your companion wishes it, I could at the most hang back a distance not to intrude."
She was hoping that wasn't the case. Her eyes went to Xeldine. Her green eyes staring down at her, not intentionally trying to be intimidating, but she had a habit of appearing to look down on another person, even if she was looking up. She was mostly just thinking to herself during this time. She mentioned zombies? Those were terrible things, she knew that well enough herself from first hand experience.
"There have been weird things happening in the world. Monsters, the dead coming to life, it'd be best to travel together in my opinion, but I do not wish to impose."

"Indeed", spoke Orcleous as a annoyed expression crossed his face. "The route is a pain that is true, but it is a sure way to get back to Bern. I know where I am at and how to get to anywhere. If I knew a more direct route by heart I would take it in a heartbeat, but unfortunately we are stuck with this." As Orcleous finished talking the maiden asked Xeldine for permission to join them. It was a weird expression since Orcleous made all the decisions. Little girl's had no say in his book. Especially when they are using the swords of others because they can't keep up with there own two bit blade. Well if she wanted permission from the little maiden she could get it. It was all up to Xeldine now.
Xeldine looked at the women and felt a little intimidated. It was true that Xeldine was green, but she was not stupid. The weight of the armor the women wore told a lot about her. She was clearly stronger than she was and thought it did not matter since they where not fighting it still swayed her decision. It was best to make as little enemies as possible. That is what Orcleous had told her. Xeldine did not want to make a enemy of this women. One day Orcleous will not be there and she would have to face the dangers on her own. She shuttered at the thought of running into this women on the road and her rudeness coming back into memory. "Do what you want", spoke Xeldine as she turned from the maiden. "It is not my choice on what you do. Just don't wine about the weight of your armor or anything as we walk."
"Instead we have to listen to you wine about not being there yet", spoke Orcleous cutting the young novice off.
"Speaking of monsters", spoke Xeldine as she turned to Orcleous. "You still have to tell me about those Tarvos and the story that was around it. There was no way I would forget about it. Half man and half horse, what kind of creature was it", she spoke.
"Fine fine,", spoke Orcleous as he adjusted his straps. Xigshaw was starting to weigh on him a bit. He still had quite a bit to go before he could take a break so Orcleous did not even bother to wine about it. "I will tell you the story once we get back onto the road. We need to let our new friend... I don't think I got your name", spoke the hero as he turned toward the General. "It would be improper for me not to introduce myself first. I am Orcleous, mercenary, swordsmen, and monster hunter and this is..."
"I am Xeldine", spoke the red head as she touched the hilt of Orcleous silver sword. "I am his apprentice, secretary, and voice of reason."
"More like annoyance", spoke Orcleous as he waited for the maiden to share her own name.

The reaction Marle got from Xeldine was not as intended from her. She figured she must have done something to make the girl react in such a manner, and immediately went to play with the hair that blocked her eye, twisting a finger around her plate covered finger. She was shy, but she was good at hiding things, not really good with showing her own emotions, unlike the girl here. She was a little envious, but situations made people who they were. She was accepted, thankfully for her, now realizing it was probably pretty rude to ask Xeldine instead of Orcleous whether her company would be appreciated. Still, she was happy though she smiled doubly for the mention about the weight of her armor. it was considerable, but she had growl used to something like this, it was a part of her.
"Don't worry. I've been wearing this armor like this since for a few years now. I can manage."
There she went again, Xeldine mentioning the monster that Orcleous had fought. She had to admit, she was incredibly intrigued. Half Man, half Horse. Half and half which way? She couldn't even fathom. Pulling the donkey with her, she closed the gap between them a little, heavy armor clanking as the armor shifted with her movements, heavy padding underneath, followed by chainmail, followed by plate. She was kitted for war, but this was normal.
"My apologies. My name is Marle. I am a..." She paused for a moment. What was she? With an inward shrug, she continued her introduction. "I am a Knight, well, mercenary, I suppose. Pleasure to make both of your acquaintances. But please, do go on about the...Tarvos, was it?"
She began to start walking, best to move and talk, lest the day grow old and dark set upon them sooner than naught. She was pretty happy about sharing the road with someone worldly. Was that the right term? She seemed well traveled, much more than she herself. She had been everywhere in Ilia almost, but barely outside it's borders.

"Right the Tarvos", spoke Orcleous. It seemed that everybody wanted to know about the time he nearly died in the past. Still he figured it was a interesting tale. Not many people had face the half man half horse monsters. The ones who did probably died with the exception for those two. "Well the story took place about two years ago", spoke Orcleous as he began to think back. "I was following this same route actually, just going the reverse way. I was leaving Bern in order to see the world and hone my skills with the blade. I was a but a novice at the time and not well equipped for the challenges that lied ahead. I was follwing the path when I came across a burning village. At the time I thought it was the work of bandits or maybe raiders. I had no idea of what horror s that lied within. Still like a fool I pressed on. The lack of screams or cry for help told me whowever had done the deed was long gone. So I investigated the site. I wanted to see if there was any survivors or anyone who needed help. As I grew closer I saw a figure standing at the gate of the city. At the time I thought it was a man, but instead it was a zombie. It was not the first time I had seen the creatures, but it sure scared the crap out of me."
"Wait you fought the undead two years ago", spoke Xeldine as she looked at him with disbelief. The young girl could not imagine Orcleous taking on the dead at such a early age. Sure he took on monsters now, but that was what he does. She figured he was a normal mercenary for a while first.
"Yes I did and unlike you I did not have somebody else silver sword to aid me. I had to fight the beast with a iron sword and a crappy one at that."
Xeldine looked at the hero for a moment and then opened her mouth to speak. "Your not getting it back", she spoke while letting off a sly smile.
"Vixen", spoke Orcleous as he smiled back. "Anyway back to my story. Well I killed that thing, but in doing so I aroused teh others walking across the city. At the time I thought I would end up a dead man. Lucky for me two burly men in red armor showed up and gave me a hand. One of them name was Richter. He had long pink hair and an aura around him that I had never felt around any other man. I could tell immediately that he was strong. The second man was more common looking. His name was Gabriel. Thee two of them helped me eliminate the zombies, but once the undead where finished two Tarvos appeared."
Orcleous stopped talking for a moment and placed his hand on his lips. He needed to give a good mental image of them if he was going to continue the tale. "Well a Tarvos looks like a horse basicly. Just make it three times as thick and tall. Cut off its head and add on a man's upper torso and you get a Tarvos. Oh I almost forgot. That Torso is covered with rippling msuclses and blueish tented skin. They also carried giant axes and could run as fast as the swiftest steed. Needless to say they where a living nightmare. The first one introduced itself by picking up the guy named Richter by his leg and slamming him into the ground. That knocked him unconscious for most of the fight after that it was me and Gab. In this battle all I did was serve as bait so that Gab could trip them and use Richter sword to kill the first one. I did however throw a burning sweater on the back of the big one."
"A burning sweater", spoke Xeldine as she looked at him with a confused stare.
"Trust me, that sweater was better off burnt. It was the ugliest Christmas sweeter ever. Anyway the last of the beast was taken down by a mounted mage dressed in all read. He called himself Elias if I remember correctly. The crimson mage, to be exact."

The young woman seemed rather enthralled with the recollection Orcleous gave for her and Xeldine. She was wide eyed at the description alone. A creature of that size, and that strong, and that fast? What kind of nightmare a young Orcleous, but a novice, having to deal with such a fearsome foe. At that time, all she had done was fought a large, possibly gigantic Wyvern with a man named Saturos and...Darion? That name seemed right, it was so long ago. Still, Orcleous' story had taken her, and she hung on, until he finished.
There were some key figures in that story. She pretty much knew everyone he mentioned. She had met them at one point or another. She was rather surprised that Orcleous did as well.
"Quite a small world. I know of Elias and Richter. Gabriel a little less however, I had met him however. I suppose it's a little fickle saying I know Richter...everyone pretty much knows that man."
She seemed to laugh a little, wearing a happy little grin on her lips, turning her head instead to look down the path they traveled, noting no differences in the land. Still grass, still rolling hills, nothing new sadly. Turning back to the duo with her on the this journey, she eyed them both for a moment, fixing her armor some as it was starting to catch in places.
"Seems you've seen a lot more that I could not even imagine. I'm a touch envious for not having any kind of adventures like that."

"Wait you know those people", spoke Xeldine with surprise. She took the words right out of Orcleous mouth. He had no idea that the people he was talking about where famous. Orcleous just meet them said hey and moved on. "Well shoot, here I was thinking that half of Orcleous stories where just lies he made up to make himself sound better than he actually was."
"Excuse me", spoke Orcleous as he looked at the maiden with disbelief. Here was his so called apprentice denying the great deeds of her master. This is why Orcleous wanted to pun her off on his relatives, thought he was sure they would hate him forever for it. Better them than him. "I have you know that I do not lie about my fights. Every monster and every man I say I fought and slain actually happened."
"Even the undead paladin", she asked looking at Orcleous.
"Even the undead paladin", spoke Orcleous confirming his stories.
"I don't know if that is the right words to say Miss Marle", spoke Orcleous as he looked at the maiden. "I would not say that my adventures where fun. Most of the time I was trying not to die and my heart was racing through my chest. Some of them I thought where more of a cruse than a blessing. There where way to many times I nearly meet my make for me to truly call them enjoyable moments. Still they make excellent stories I guess. Other than that they are not worth much" To think I am known as faint of heart, thought Orcleous to himself as he walked. The world was a cruel place sometimes.
So then miss Marle", spoke Orcleous as he looked at the General. "You say you have meet and knew these people. Are they something special or something. I never really knew who any of them where or what they are known for. They where just people I came by on the road. Though from the way you speak you seem to know them better than I. So who was this Richter that everyone seems to know. Oh and on that note you can also share one of your adventures. From the look of you I can tell you have crossed blades with somebody else before in the past. The dents and scratches on your armor betray any attempt to deny that"
Orcleous looked to the sky for a moment. He wanted to be sure there where not clouds in the sky. There was nothing worse than getting caught in the rain in sacae. Unlike other places there where very few trees to block the rain and no caves to spend a night in. If it started to rain that meant they would have to set camp and loss hours of walking. Lucky for them however Orcleous did not see a cloud in the sky. Hopefully it remained that way. Still the Hero needed to keep a eye on the road. The rain was not the only problem they could run into out here.

Did she use the word fun? She wasn't sure she had or not, but she didn't refute it, it wasn't important at all. Tugging the donkey along behind herself, as it started to lag behind a little, she gave a smile at the two. Fighting monsters, and not becoming a sad tale, well, she could understand Xeldine's skepticism. She was young and ignorant. What a time for her to be alive, young as she was. She was going to grow up at a time when monsters were commonplace, not stories like it was for her. There she went, thinking she was old. 21 years young is what she was!
"Well...lets see.."
Marle tapped at her chin, being asked so sudden. She was more surprised that Orcleous didn't know about Richter. Did he not have his entourage...rather, his retinue with him at that time? How rare, Claire, from what she understood, would never leave his side. Nor this 'Gwen' woman who was his bodyguard. Was this before that? She would never know, instead shrugging away those thoughts for the matter at hand, trying to remember exactly.
"I don't really know Gabriel that well. It could even be a person different, but the one I know is a Mage. That's about all I know of him. Elias and Richter I know more about, as I've traveled with them both. Elias was the "Crimson Mage" if I remember his self-title. he was quite a narcissistic fellow. Nice, but obsessed with...Red. Quite talented."
With a breath, she continued on.
"Richter...now, that's a different story. I know him best of all, rather, everyone in Ilia knows about Richter. He was a mercenary like yourself for a time, but he's a hero of the Ilian people, whether he'd like to be or not. He fought the Eturians here in Sacae a while back. That was quite the scene...but I've known Richter far longer than that. We're family, see.."
Immediately, Marle went to rub the back of her neck uncomfortably. It was hard to compare her deeds to Richters, since they were incomparable. Marle's life looked ordinary and shabby when put by side with her cousin's. A blush rose in her cheeks as she got a bit flustered over her own shortcomings.
"My...adventures...I haven't had too many truth be told. I lead a full company against an Eturian uprising in the Western parts of Ilia, where they were trying to incite bandits to cause damage to infrastructure and claim a foothold. That was the first time I ever led men into battle. I lost a lot of people that day." She hung her head, eyes narrowing as she looked at the ground. She touched her hair, twisting it between her finger and thumb. That was the day she died her golden hair this brownish color. "There was also a town in the North of Ilia, which was beset upon by the Entombed and Revenants. That was one of the first times the dead were chronicled to have come back to life. Not the first, but just one of the many instances. Other than those specific instances, it has been ,me dealing with bandits and the occasional Eturian probing into Ilia. Nothing fancifull."

"Wait that Richter", spoke Xeldine as she looked at both Orcleous and Marel with disbelief. Her gaze however turned ugly at Orcleous. "How could you not have heard or know who he is? To make it worse you meet the guy. What kind of country hick are you", she asked as she looked at Orcleous with disbelief.
"Wait you have heard of him", spoke Orcleous with surprise as Xeldine apparently knew more than him. It was almost impossible, but it seemed to be true.
"Rocks for brains farm boy", spoke Xeldine.
"Says the girl", spoke Orcleous, but he stopped. Some things where better left unsaid. He could win the battle, but he would loss the war. "Whatever, anyway back to the subject matter. when I meet the guy he just introduced himself as Richter, nothing special. I had no idea who he was or about his grand title. The same goes for the crimson mage fellow, thought I knew he had some power. He took out a Tarvos by himself with a single spell. It was amazing. Still I say you give yourself too little credit", spoke Orcleous as he looked at the maiden. She said some pretty amazing stuff and down played it like it was nothing. "I mean you lead a army. I have not done anything like that, and to make it worse you where one of the first to face off against the undead. Sure I have been fighting them for a while, but shoot that is nothing compared to the people who fought them for the first time. Between you and me I say you have accomplished a lot more, thought I have to ask why are you not with the military. The way you spoke it made it sound like you had it some reputation with your local government. If you don't want to talk about it that is fine too", spoke Orcleous.
The Hero understood the winds of politics and stuff. He had made it his personal goal to stay out of all that stuff. However from time to time he would find it popping up around him. Normally Orcleous would try to avoid it, but some times he thinks about jumping into it. Making a name for himself would be great, but the trouble that comes with political power and leading a army. Well that kind of trouble seemed to follow you if you know what he means. He was happy simply being the son of a dirt farmer and a sword for hire. That however did not mean he was not intrigued with politics and the game. Understanding how things work could play into his advantage down the road. Especially if he worked his words right. Political power was not the only thing that was possibly on the table if he played his cards right. There was other things that one would consider just as valuable.
"What has gotten you so interested all of a sudden", spoke Xeldine as she looked at Orcleous. The maiden was giving him that eye again. She was a total game killer, thought Orcleous in the back of his mind.
"Her tale interested me so I asked more about it. The same way you kept asking me about the Tarvos", spoke Orcleous.

The name "Richter" was a pretty uncommon name. She had never heard anyone else use that name, except for impostors. She did feel good though, at the encouragement she was given, but really, she wished she could forget about having lead an army. Those were sad memories, but they made her what she is today. Perhaps it's good to not throw those away, but rather embrace them. Nodding, yes, that's what she'd do, she would own them. Crossing her arms, she unintentionally pulled on the reigns of the donkey, getting that irritable sound that would rise from the creature, but she didn't relax. She was in this pose now!
"I am a bit known, but not overly so, I'm afraid. 'Lance of the North' and such foolery. What kind of title is that anyways? it doesn't really say anything about me. Most don't even know I'm a woman, since I usually wear my helmet into battle, it blocks my face, and well...my armor is heavy so it's hard to tell I guess." She gave a knock on her chestplate, a loud ring of metal on metal from her knuckleguards.
"I'm on leave I guess. Didn't request it. I was stripped of my command and my unit given to another more 'promising' Knight, whatever that means. I decided for myself to go out and see what I could do on my own, after that. If Ilia needs me, I'll help them, depending on what it is." That was a small little lie, she had her reasons for leaving Ilia, but she wasn't too far off with the rest. "Right now, I just want to get a bit more wordly, but I didn't quite prepare myself fully. I'm usually okay with reading maps, but Sacae has very little for landmarks..I might as well be in Nabata where the grassland is replaced with sand and I would fair no better."
Marle gave a bit of a laugh at that, but then turned as Xeldine commented about Orcleous' interests, not quite catching something. Did she perhaps miss something during her bit of a tale?
