EDIT: Every variation of the Naginata has 1 less attack than its lance counterpart. They have no redeeming qualities to offset this, and this does not occur with axes/clubs or swords/katanas. What the heck? There actually is a benefit to the Naginata; like all Hoshidan weaponry, they come with a neat little effect. For the Naginata, this is +1 Defense/Resistance. Though I believe weapon-specific effects that are stronger override this, such as the Guard Naginata having a +5 Defense/Resistance effect. ... Which is pretty handy, honestly. I'm a big fan of the weapon changes, though I agree that the weapon icon changes are kinda... Not great...

I really appreciate the changes to the pair up system, it's way more balanced, but the No Damage blocks are XCOM levels of ****ery. They just happen, and there's no way to gauge any percentage of whether or not they will occur

I'm with Zach I miss the icons. Specifically the icons for stat up items.

I'm about 9 or so chapters into Conquest now, and I gotta say, I'm really digging git. I haven't had this much challenge with a Fire Emblem game in a while and it's really refreshing to be challenged by some of the chapters. I gotta agree that the icons are really bland, but the lack of weapon durability is interesting. I like it, but I'm still kinda playing as if it was still there. It's weird. The castle is fun and I'm really intrigued to try out the revised reclassing system. Plus, I really like the new chatacters. The Nohr characters, or at least the ones I've encountered, are very dynamic and I really like how unique each of the models look. Overall, I think it's a pretty damn good game so far.

They just happen, and there's no way to gauge any percentage of whether or not they will occur Actually, you can tell exactly when they will happen. For instance, if you have two units in Guard Stance, the second unit will always block the attack made by an enemy's Attack Stance partner. Furthermore, there is actually a "shield gauge" on the bottom screen (below the character's HP, I believe), with 10 slots. For each attack made by the two lead units in combat, this gauge will raise by 2 until it is full. After it is full, the next attack on that character will be blocked.

hello yes im on chapter 22 of conquest and i fell in love with a default unit and i forgot to marry anyone and i'm a mess but at least my unit is super cu te & has an army of cute girls {Spoiler}Click here for spoiler i really miss not having to worry abt every unit's exp gain and support level though, the no-random encounters thing kills me since i was spoiled by super easy awakening... but its satisfying to play at least. JUST REALLY HARD. BRUTALLY HARD. i weep also i know i have selena but im very frustrate by my lack of cute archer girls (probably because i didn't get any of the dumb hyperbolic time chamber space babies?) yeah

Wow, they do an awful job of communicating that. Thanks for the explanation. Also, is anyone else annoyed by the kids in this game? They're completely irrelevant to the plot, and have pretty lame supports. Like, after such a wide scale improvement in characterization, the kids just feel like "Can't have Fire Emblem without kids!" I know I won't use them. Also the carry over characters from Awakening can screw off. Much pander.

oh yea i did draw that! sry for late response ive been screaming at fates/drawing my unit some more spoiler tags because i like to complain 1. i really dislike the kids too? i find it kind of ridiculous that they handwave it the way that they do because it still implies Spoiler that the woman in the pair somehow found 9 months to have the kid and stick them in the deeprealms in the middle of a war in a game that doesn't even seem to take place over 9 months??/ sure you could bs and say 'well the husband/wife pair went off to the deeprealms to have the kid so they were back in like, 3 days, tops' but if it was really like that, then there was absolutely no reason for the parents to leave their kid there alone and come back instead of just... staying and raising their kid and then coming back for the war like a week later. just generally i find the whole thing surrounding the kids offensive and im sad that i actually found myself getting attached to some of them?? theres some legit worthwhile units among them and the paralogues are good for extra exp (in conquest at least lel) but i find it, so hard to enjoy because i keep on thinking about how dumb the excuse is for it. future time babies was honestly easier to swallow from a character/story standpoint imo.
i would have honest to god traded all of the future kids for the ability to marry whoever you want, gender aside, none of the 'buddy rank' A+ bs (that kamui can't even do... for some reason) or the 'yeah sure you can gay marry ... TWO PEOPLE LEL' just generally the story 900% didn't need it and i feel like the game would have been better off if they didn't assume that if someone was playing fire emblem they wanted demon children. and i cant stand kana 2. yaa some dlc is out and ... im having mixed feelings?? because the exp dlc is playable and repeatable in conquest. the uh. version of the game where the whole point is limited exp and such. it makes it easier on me as a player but i feel like it kind of cheapens the integrity of the game when people can just... spam that particular dlc and get infinite levels?... i guess theres some merit in 'pay to break the game' and i guess that people would have been angry if the dlc was only available to babyright vers so i dont really have a solution, just, it makes me kinda uncomfy. oh well the beach dlc... doesnt make any sense from a story standpoint but when have those ones ever i haven't beaten it yet it's really weird3. i want to marry azura so bad but im deep in a feKamui run pls kill mealso is literally nobody in-game going to comment on the fact that you can turn into a freaky kirin dragon thing. is literally nobody in-game going to comment on the freaky crap your body does when using the dragon fang skill because like its actually starting to bug me that its never brought up or commented on, everyone's just kind of chill with it, like... yo... its cool af but also if i were in that situation i'd be very alarmed that my arm can do this prntscr.com/a86ph8 no matter how cool my animations are

The second DLC is amusing. As it has nothing to do with story and is just ridiculous. {Click here for spoiler}The animations with the new gag weapons are hilarious. Especially the radishes. Ryoma just looks so serious swinging them around. I personally am not even bothering to get the kids. No one is S or A+ ranking until I learn about the class system in its entirety. Maybe by revelations I'll start caring.

If anyone wants me to explain the benefits of S and A+ supports, I'd be more than glad to. Even disregarding kids, it is a rather neat feature for the first generation characters...
... Unless you're just playing the game normally, of course. Though my Berserker Azama has been utterly tearing Birthright up with his massive HP and Strength, haha.

This might be a dumb question, but does anyone know what the max levels for songstress/butler/maid are?

40 is the max for them, or perhaps 30. But there are rare seas you can use to extend the level cap.
