Name: Ostara
Class: Taguel-Cat
Age: 24
Born in: Vinland
Appearance: Most Elibeans would scoff at the seemingly disappointing height Ostara’s figure cuts – at a mere 5 feet 5 inches, she’s a far cry from the intimidating figures most humans associate with Taguel. This is short even by the standards of her tribe, with most women being around 6 feet in height. Ostara takes very poorly to people who think this way.
In all other matters save height, Ostara is fairly standard as far as the women of her tribe go. A hunter’s lifestyle has built her arms and abs up with hardened muscle – she looks physically strong enough to give Elibe’s finest warriors chills down their spine. Ostara prides herself on this and takes every opportunity to show off her physical form, in the same way that she enjoys showing her strength. Her legs are similarly built, although usually concealed under her pants.
Ostara’s purple cat ears and tail make her unmistakably taguel, although her otherwise human facial features are rather catlike. She cuts the hair on her head short – paying extra attention to groom the bangs – to make hunting easier for her. Her red eyes often glint with a hint of mischief, and her purring smile conceals pointed teeth. Her nails also end in sharp points, like a cat’s claws.
Ostara’s usual outfit is a white strip of cloth that covers her breasts, back and little else. The cloth is woven over her arms and down her back to show off her arms, ease mobility and not interfere with her transformation. Long brown pants extend down her torso to her feet, concealing everything but her tail. To her chagrin, she must always alter whatever pairs she acquires to accommodate for it. She goes barefoot, with small patches of violet fur covering her clawed feet.
Ostara’s beast form is not as nightmarish as other taguel’s: her tribe’s modes usually preserve more humanoid forms than others. When shifting, her body begins to run through with lines before growing an onyx fur coat. Her fingers and sharp nails warp into long, apelike claws. Her head warps into that of a jaguar’s, barely retaining a semblance of humanity. Much to Ostara’s dismay, her height barely increases to 5’11’’. On the plus side, her form is small enough to accommodate her clothing.
Personality: Ostara has two sides, like most cats. She can be fun-loving, mischievous and immature in her downtime, but when things get serious all bets are off. Ostara is a scarily focused, pragmatic woman when she’s hunting or in combat with an opponent she deems worthy. She uses her beast mode liberally, shifting into it when she even gets the hint that it is necessary.
When not hunting, Ostara can be humorous and playful. She enjoys playing pranks on human beings to see their reactions.
Humans, to her, are curious beings to toy with. She’s very irritable and unwilling to admit it, with comments about her height being the easiest way to set her off. On the flip-side, she’s very proud of her strength and takes every opportunity to show it off. She’s stronger than any human and she knows that.
Ostara has a particular spitefulness towards mages and will disdain to talk to them, even taguel ones. Nice mages are met with veiled hostility at best, while she triggers Beast Mode with any wizard or witch that deigns to be less charitable. She treats mage foes as seriously as most people would a cyclops – they, to her, are incredibly dangerous creatures that don’t warrant being underestimated.
Story: Ostara was born the smallest kit of her tribe. Because of this, she quickly became a misfit. She always strove to exceed the expectations her peers set for her, striving to become the strongest from when she was old enough to join the hunt.
Ostara soon distinguished herself as one of the most physically imposing hunters in her tribe, being the most impressive in her generation by far – she was her father’s daughter, and a worthy successor by any standard.
The intervening years aren’t something she talks about often. All that is known is that something happened which changed the formerly upbeat and cocky taguel’s life forever. It is around this time that she developed her hatred for mages: likely not a coincidence, all things considered.
When she was old enough, Ostara left her tribe for reasons she keeps to herself. Ostensibly, her story is that she grew too strong for the tribe to accommodate and left. Sometimes she makes a joking and obviously false reference to them abandoning her for being too short. Whatever her reasons, she’s been wandering around and meddling with humans ever since.
