Name: Guillermo del Edificio de Barro secado al Sol
Class: Griffon Rider
Age: 31
Born in: A Lycian mountain-edge village, with a substantial vineyard owned by his family
Appearance: A tall and undeniably (by popular opinion) handsome man, Guillermo (or Gui, as he often goes by) is dressed smartly in fine, wine-colored garments. When preparing for battle or traveling on one of his many adventures, Gui suits himself in dark golden armor emblazoned with a white rose, his personal symbol.
While his well-tailored and expensive-seeming clothing certainly is a focal point, it might be more apropos to focus on his facial features. A fine, distinguished hairline reveals a well-cut nose and a mouth of white teeth, accentuated by pink lips that seem to irrefutably proclaim his health and vigor. His brown eyes are often twinkling, and he has a habit of cocking his head and raising his eyebrows in conversation, making him look like a well-to-do peacock.
Personality: A true man of valor and chivalry, Guillermo embarked upon his travels solely for the pursuit of honor and love. He seeks no compensation for acts of lawful goodness save what he needs to fill his living expenses (and money for weapons (oh, and equipment too (well, it's the thought that counts, isn't it?))) as he travels around this new land.
He is quick to engage in a fight, his hotness of temper only exceeded by the spicy peppers he often nibbles on to keep his 'mind sharp.' Throughout all of his frequent brawls and duels, he maintains his armor and clothing in near-perfect shape, thanks to his wealth, and never neglects the care of his trusty mount. In this way he is both exceedingly reckless and responsible, a most dangerous and peculiar combination.
Story: Born in a Lycian village at the foot of the mountains, on his family's substantial vineyard, in the year of the White Moon, Guillermo del Edificio de Barro secado al Sol was treated to a lush and comfortable childhood, without want or need of any sort. His fascination with the military arts reminded his father of his father before him, who had been equally fascinated with his (referring here to the father of Guillermo) fascination with the art of grape-growing. As many wealthy and indulgent fathers do, he bestowed upon his Gui much wealth and encouragement, prompting the young man to leave his homeland for the ranks of the military.
Unfortunately for Gui, things did not go quite as planned. With the outbreak of monsters in Lycia, the military rapidly became a guild of monster-hunters or glorified door guards, and so the young man departed for a career of cartography mapping outlying islands. This occupation soon brought him to the recently discovered Vinland, and the mapmaker began his survey, traversing the shoreline areas and beginning a preliminary geographic study. After seeing many bold Griffons soaring overhead, and following months of patient luring and displays of showiness and bravado, Gui succeeded in enticing a female Griffon to land nearby him. Determining in his mind that this would be his mount, he put forth an exceptional effort in following the animal, providing it with food, and displaying his worth by hunting other wild beasts. The turning point occurred after the man successfully rescued the Griffon from an ambush by a rival female. The bond was formed fast between them, and upon his newly christened Elegancia, the young man returned to Elibe and honed the way of the sword from his aged grandfather, who, seeing with slight frustration that his countless hours of training his grandson for landed combat were largely impractical, wisely adopted the way of the cavalier to suit the more... flighty Griffon. The often nontraditional and erratic techniques Gui learned seemed perfectly normal to him, although most military men would classify them as 'high-risk, high-return,' or, less diplomatically, 'ridiculously reckless.'
Departing his homeland for other lands upon the continent, the impulsive young man soared the skies and was drawn to the prospect of war in the far off land of Ilia and Bern. Upon his arrival, he was greeted by the news that Ilian forces had recently withdrawn. Thus deprived of a chance to pursue glory and fame for military prowess, the Rider chose to instead rescue 'maidens in unfortunate situations of perilous magnitude' and achieve immortality through the bards for his defense of the fairer sex.
It has been about one year since the man first landed upon the land of Vinland...the greater part of his story has yet to unfold.
