It has been a while since Quineve was that happy. Meeting a new friend and a new traveling partner in the same day? Absolutely wonderful. It was really a very, very nice day and it wasn't finished yet. The lady in white held her hands together and couldn't help but to giggle in excitement. "Oh, Tamaya, you have no idea how happy I am right now."
"Truly, I am blessed that we were to meet. I would love to meet your clan and learn more about them. If they are half as good a you are, then they must be very good people. Maybe you can teach me few words from your native language?"
Quineve could barely contain her excitement and joy. She felt like a little child who parents just gave her a new toy. For the first time in months, she felt like having a good friend. Sure, she met a few people before but she never connected that must with someone.
"Oh, I am getting a bit too excited," she said while laughing. "I should at least finish eating before making too many plans." Maybe she should get a horse as well! She wasn't sure if it would be good for Shikoba to carry more than one person. However, buying an horse isn't free and Quineve was pretty sure that she couldn't afford it in her current situation. That could be troublesome.
"Were you thinking about staying in Bulgar for a while?" She then asked. "I would need to find a way to travel with you. I would hate to slow you down." In the long run, it would be best for her to get her own steed but again, it wasn't free. Perhaps the nomad had few connections in this city.
"When do you think we should depart? Sorry If I'm getting ahead of myself, I apologize. I am just very happy right now"

"Oh, Tamaya, you have no idea how happy I am right now."
The Nomad smiled widely. She too was very happy. She felt in her core much more content and at ease. Quineve was a friend, a true friend, and it gave Tamaya hope for her country and their relationship with Etruria. She would need to share her experiences with her clan and all who could listen. Etruria was not the enemy. The enemy was the group of Etrurians who sought to invade and dominate them. She needed to be able to show them that a distinction must be made. Senseless killing of Etrurians would simply escalate the conflicts.
When Quineve expressed her desire to meet Tamaya's clan, the nomad blushed slightly and shook her head.
"No, no. They are much more good than I am. They are wiser, and slower to anger. I am simply grateful to be able to see what they cannot so that I can share what I see with them, so that they may be able to more clearly see the issues. I am glad to be able to bring you to meet them."
Looking up, Tamaya smiled again and then spoke once more.
"For instance... A polite greeting, 'hello friend,' is 'moni mnzanga,' and a way to thank someone for any act of kindness is 'chikwi ndikuyamikeni.' And a traditional blessing, or saying of respect and luck, is 'mwina mayi lapansi kukutetezani' - 'may Mother Earth protect you.'"
Tamaya thought through the Cleric's questions, and then fired off a rapid series of answers.
"I was in Bulgar to buy arrows and new clothing, but then I was planning to continue traveling. I know a good way you could travel - we can borrow a horse from one of my friends who lives here. He has many old race-horses he raised, which no longer win. He keeps taking care of them, though, as he raises them as his children and cannot bear to kill one. He would be willing to lend one to you, I am sure. And when you come through the plains once more, perhaps he will have need of something you bring. That is how debts are paid on the plains - not with anger and coin, or threats and blades, but with trust and honor and kindness. We could depart whenever you feel most ready, friend Quineve. My people will not go anywhere too drastic, so do not feel pressured to rush."

Quineve tried to remember how to say those words that was so hard for her to pronounce correctly. She would try to whisper to herself with no real success. She definitely need more practice, which could happen while being on the road. And now that it was practically settle, the lady in white felt that they should depart as soon as possible. Well, maybe staying the night here would be wiser, that way they would have the whole day tomorrow to start their new journey.
"I would be very grateful if your friend could lend me a horse. I might need some of your help too, I am not very good at riding. I do like them though, I just hope that they like me back as well." She laughed as she said that. "You said that you needed new clothing? I would love to help you on that. Maybe I should find some too, even if I love my robe, I should find something better suited for traveling. Perhaps you could show me what your people wear?"
After a short while, Quineve was done eating. There were still some food left but being small and all that, she just couldn't finish it all. And she kind of felt bad about it not knowing if it's rude or not. She would wait for Tamaya to finish as well, or maybe it was the nomad that was waiting for her. She never been very quick in everything she does, eating included.
"How about we get you some new clothing and then stay the night in Bulgar? That way, we could wake up early and you can show me how to properly ride a horse. Then go wherever you want to. I will follow you seeing that you know the plains better than I do by far."
"So what do you think, my friend?" And she smiled joyfully upon saying the word friend.
Today was a wonderful day and tomorrow, a whole new journey.

There was much joy in the Nomad’s heart as she listened to her new friend speak of all that they would do. She would easily be able to borrow a horse and rug for her new friend, and they would be able to set off at once. But Quineve’s plan was wise – they would shop together, find some new garments, and then spend the night in the city. Tamaya had planned to simply sleep under the stars, but it was a nice thought, sleeping in a true bed. She did not often indulge, as it still felt foreign to her.
"Of course, my friend. I would be happy for your advice, for while I often pick for comfort and practicality, my clansmen often tell me that my choice of pattern and color could be improved. I am afraid I do not have much of an eye for those matters."
Tamaya laughed again, her eyes twinkling. Quineve was a good woman and an honest friend, and her kindness shone through. It was refreshing and warming to be able to meet a person who was so genuine.
"There is no one right way to ride a horse… It depends on your preference and the type of riding you will be doing. For us, we will be traveling, so a steady horse, with good stamina, will be my choice for you. It is easy to ride, and I am sure you will pick it up quickly!"
The two finished their meal at about the same time, and the Nomad surveyed the few scraps happily. They would not go to waste, of course – the livestock and the hounds would enjoy them. The Nomad rose together with her new friend, and settled the bill quickly with the owner. With the meal done, she smiled once more.
"I think that is a wonderful plan, friend Quineve – let us go to the market!"
A new road had laid itself before her, and a new companion had appeared at the crossroads to travel with her. Truly, the Sky and Earth were gracious and good.
