I'm so certain this thread has existed before, but who's everyone's favorite or top (whatever number) favorites and why?
Personally two come to mind right away, I'd probably say Seth because he's chivalrous to a fault (fighting through a monstrous pain from his wound in the beginning), having the best supports and ending to offer for your protagonist, has a rep for being a dude you don't want to fight, plus he geeks out over Garcia.
I've also always liked Boyd even though he's not that popular, because he's a reckless loudmouth cocky SOB who's actually inwardly kind and introspective even though most of the other characters think that he really is. Plus he's one of the few characters from Path of Radiance who actually develops further in Radiant Dawn.
(Huge Honorable Mentions List: Sain, Wallace, Dart, Farina, Harken, Joshua, Natasha, Gerik, Ross, Lute, L'Arachel, Oscar, Mia, Mordecai, Haar)

1: Gerik, You get all the supports you see his story and its pretty cool, huge hints support the idea Garcia gave him the scar.
2: Cormag, Cormag vs Valter, enough said

I genuinely wish I could narrow it down to one.
I'm sure an FE 4 character will take a spot when I finish the game, or at least wind up in a runner up, but for now I'm going to tentatively say "Haar". A soldier whose switched armies more times he can count, and the perspective that's given him is honestly really cool to see. He's NOT a mercenary, he's always been a soldier or even a knight whenever he fought for an army. He can be lazy, non chalant, and downright apathetic, but his ideology always resonated with me.

Libra. His devout faith, good nature, and struggle with darkness really appeals to me as a person. He has a lot of courage whereas I've been lucky in life.
Donnel is a very close second because he's just a good ol' country boy. So in that respect, Nephenee is up there as well.
I like Soren for his devout service and doing his absolute best as Ike's tactician - managing to pull things together for the Greil Mercenaries.
General Wallace, Ephraim, and Hector are just badasses. Simple.

I'd have to say it's Joshua from SS. I've always liked the 'flirtatious badboy with deeply rooted issues' type, and Joshua ramps it up to 11 by being royalty. I found his character especially rewarding when Spoiler his mother died. Absolutely fantastic character development, not to mention his wonderful design.

Whoa, I totally didn't notice this thread. Time for a necropost! I don't have any one favorite character, but I'll go through the series and list some. This prolly goes without saying, but I'm gonna try and limit myself to characters I like for more reasons than just their design, cause if that was an option, the list would go on forever.
these are all just my personal takes, pls no bully ;;
FE1/11: All the characters in the original are pretty same-y, but in the remake I'm really partial to Frey for his design and his personality that really rounds out what little you see of his interactions with Cain and Abel. His tragic role in the canon helps a lot too.
FE2: doma, i love that giant slime dragon Rudolf's great, the backstory involving him and the protags is some of the deepest I've seen on the NES. He's not a playable character, but I wish he was. :'c
FE3/12: Again, all the characters in 3 are kinda samey, but I gotta hand it to Xane for all the backstory he lays down in the later chapters, and Sheena for being the first (and coolest tbh) female general as well as her rapport with Samson. In the remake I still love Frey, as well as all the gaiden characters that you only got from losing too many units in 11 (Norne, Athena, Horace, Etzel, Ymir, Nagi). Dice and Malice are pretty great too.
FE4: FE4's got one of my favorite stories in the series, but since they were still figuring out that whole "personality" thing, the characters kinda fell flat for me. Still, Lex was great, and I like Arvis a lot for how complex his motivations were. The peeps with major holy blood were, in general, really cool.
FE5: Leif's pretty run-of-the-mill as far as a typical FE lord goes, but I like him cause a lot of his character plays with the fact that he's only second fiddle to Seliph in the liberation war. Saias is great too; first playable dark mage in the series, and he's a cool strategist to boot? Sign me up!
FE6: A lot of FE6 characters don't have much personality to speak of, are just straight lifts of characters from FE1/3, or both, and that's why I love Ekhidna. She's cool, she's tough, and she's a female axe user! Like, you're meeting all of my standards here dude, chill out. It's a shame she didn't have a better game to debut in.
FE7: Hector, Lowen's a really sweet kid, Dart/Rebecca's sidestory is kinda neat, ditto for Nino/Jaffar, and Renault! He's kind of a weird pick, but there's a lot of depth to his character that you don't get to see for the most part, cause he comes so late.
FE8: Oh gosh, I've got a real laundry list for this game. L'Arachel, Dozla, Rennac, Ross, Amelia, Duessel, Gerik, Saleh, Joshua, and Cormag. There's way too many to go into detail on all of them, but I love them all. <3
FE9: Ike's great, Titania's great, all the Laguz are great for their own separate reasons, Jill's got character development like whoa, and Largo, Brom, Marcia, and Devdan are super funny.
FE10: Danved, Nolan's a bro, the Laguz are all still great, and although 10's story is kind of all over the place, I love the concept behind Yune and Ashera and how the game paints them flawed like mortals. I would love to see how FE10 would've turned out if there had been as much attention to the character interactions as FE9 did.
FE13: I'm a sucker for a tragic backstory like Libra's, Sully's super cool, the Taguel thing was kinda executed poorly but I still love Panne, I really really love Owain, Brady, Inigo, and Cynthia, and the Vaike's always good for a laugh.
FE14: I actually do have a favorite character for this one, and it's Shura. I'm also a sucker for wise old timers like Gunter, and Birthright!Takumi's got character development on par with FE9!Jill. Love Laslow and Odin who would've guessed and Ike Niles, Oboro, Kaze, Shiro, Benny, Ignatius, Ophelia, Nina, Arthur, and Rinkah are all pretty cool too.
