We've got a gold system where post at 250 words earns you money that you can use in the shop, but this thread isn't about that. It's established that currency isn't directly tied to a character's wealth, our characters are still human so they gotta eat and buy new clothes to stay covered when their old ones tear and a place to stay the night since they're always traveling. Since nobody travels with a portable hole with Scrooge McDuck's vault in their pocket, how do your characters make money behind the scenes(not shown in our post).
Kenshin- Being a Sacaen he had learned how to hunt. He would skin his kills and sell the pelts or trade them for goods. He mostly would sell/trade deer and rabbit pelts, on occasions he would use fox and wolf pelts to earn money.
Hiro- He would either steal the money itself, or find something worthy a pretty penny and sell it.
Hal- He spent most of his life doing general labor, so when his funds are low he returns to doing manual labor.
Reid- With his vast knowledge of a lot of things, he is able to do minor medical things such as figure out what illness somebody has and how to cure it if it's possible. He also has the ability to fix little things since he got curious on how they work, took them apart and eventually learned how to put it back together.
Liam- A mixture of Kenshin and Hal. Living as long as he has he had picked up on quite a few trades. He repairs any damage to his clothing with his tailoring abilities, hunts for most of his own food, and has a keen eye(pun intended) for a nice place to crash. If he finds himself in a town low on supplies he uses his skills to earn a few coins to buy what he needs then leaves.

Post by Luba Gavrilova on Nov 27, 2016 22:37:28 GMT -6
Intredasting Concept.
Luba: Until recently, Luba was the commander of the Pale Compass guild and was compensated for her work biweekly. Now that she's back to freelancing Luba sells her lance for exorbitant fees, promising the best in mercenary ability in exchange for her high rates. Apart from working as a sell-sword, Luba knows how to live in the wilds and will, when necessary, hunt down rare or dangerous animals for fur, meat, and bounties.
Ravvus: Similar to Luba. Ravvus will take odd jobs here and there, mostly mercenary or escort work, though his rates are significantly more reasonable. Due his role in the Pathfinders and Pale Compass guilds, he is paid every time he finishes a job for either guild. While lacking the expertise of a hunter, preparing food comes easily for him, as he can light a fire with the flick of his fingers.

Ryuzaki: As an assassin and a thief, he steals what he needs to supplement his dirty income. His expenditures are really only on food, as clothing, tools of the trade, and the like last for a while, given his combat style.
Willow: The daughter of a decently wealthy Etrurian house and a married woman, Willow is certainly not wanting for money. Her family and her in-laws have enough, but her position with the Inquisition also provides a source of income so that she can have the high-end clothes and fine food she is accustomed to.
Eren: The only source of income for Eren is his mercenary work, since he is no longer affiliated with the Bernese Military. As a freelancer, he would have to use his coin for the bare essentials, which is pretty accurate for Eren, given his lack of interest in finery. Splurges for him probably would be saddle parts or other gear.
Tamaya: She is a true outdoorswoman and a skilled tracker; and her abilities in the fields of trapping or hunting would give her the food she needs for sustenance and the pelts she needs to make clothes. Her arrows are often handmade, and in a pinch she could sell some of the game she catches to generate extra money.
Minerva: Quite the rebel, Minerva uses her family connections for money, but supplements it with smuggling and occasional pillaging with roving bands of bandits. She's quite high-maintenance, but her lucrative illicit work and her family's propensity to give her money to keep her quiet pay for the luxury.
Locke: Given Locke's connection to the earth, he knows how to find plants, roots, and other edible things in any environment. He also purposes the flora and fauna for healing herbs and other handy items. His clothes are constantly being repaired, with new natural fibers being woven in as old ones grow frayed and torn. He has little use for human currency, save to buy a hot meal sometimes.
Yorick: The co-leader of the Verdant Cross makes all her money with her weapons, fighting off monsters whenever they rear their heads. She uses the coin to pay her guildmates, repair her armor and weapons, and purchase new additions to her arsenal. Oh, and drinks. Lots of drinks.
Lydia: The little pupil spends all her money on her science, and neglects the real essentials of life. In a jam, she'll beg, borrow, and steal, and feels no qualms about doing so. All that matters is finishing the next experiment.
Zarathustra: A mystery to all, Zarathustra rarely does work and yet never seems to be begging for coin. Exactly how he gets it is a mystery, and what he spends it on is even more nebulous, as he eats nearly inedible material, wears rags, and is always drinking what looks like brackish water from a stagnant, leaf-infested pond.
Faith: As a member of the Ilian military, Faith gets paid a salary just like any other grunt. Most of her money is sent home, as she is helping to support her working-class family, but she keeps some of it for art supplies and emergencies. She has no need of buying food or clothing; her employment guarantees these.

Gar: When he was younger he did the whole piracy thing. Pillage and plunder. Afterward, he started treasure hunting and smuggling, slightly more respectable work. Now he is moving into bounty hunting and escorting ferries.
Giles: Bodyguard. Don't try to employ if you are from a royal family.
Kayla: Wild child. Steals from common folk and swindles bandits with her Pegasus accomplice.

Leiva usually steals what she needs, but she used to beg, too.
Getz gets mistaken for an old homeless beggar while he reads on the street and people give him money
Getz writes analysis on holy books and self-publishes them. They're not much, but they're enough to get by.

Duma- Mercenary for hire. Odd jobs here and there. He's literate so worst case he'll do scribe work.
Mila- Mercenary work. Researches things. She'll do odd jobs at inn's and often write or translate things for offices. She's pretty thrifty usually only spending money on thing she really needs.
Aeos- He's been around for centuries so he's picked up all manner of trades. But he's got a nack for fishing and some dock work. He's also good at delivery jobs. usually caring crates, sacks, or barrels from ships to shops. He doesn't mind camping out and living off the land.
Aria- Wyvern for hire. She usually works as a waitress or does cargo/people deliveries via Chewy. Hugo- His family trade is making fur clothes for the wealthy. They breed or catch the animals used for clothes and it's a good business. He's also got several members in his family enlisted in the Etruian army and they sometimes funnel gold into the family. He does piracy and assassinations sometimes too.
Midori- She earns gold via donations for her healing. Sometimes she's delivering things with her horse.
Fleur- Her family works to till the land in communal Burroughs. However since she's been on her own away from her bunny family, her surrogate family don't have much need for gold. They live in the wilds of Vinland and work as members of the Thousand Scales.
