"I MADE IT!!!" A young woman rushed off of a ship returning from Vinland right down the plank and across the docks in celebration. She kept her pure white cloak tight around her and her hood up to obscure her more, exotic, features, but after months of trying she made it to the mythical mainland.
Her celebrating was cut short as her nose was assailed by the horrendous stench of the docks. Rotted fish and unwashed pirates abound. She stuck out as she began to skip through the area into town drawing quite a few questioning gazes. Passing the stalls she saw sellers with food, dried and preserved with liberal application of salt. She waved to random strangers as she went standing out as quite the oddity.
Looking up at signs she saw odd markings she could not discern. "Oooo exotic writing! So mysterious."
"You like mystery, little lady?" An old hunchback asked from a distance.
"I sure do!" She cocked her head at the man. "What happen to you?"
The man was oddly composed. "It is my punishment and atonement to Elimine, for my forefathers' transgressions."
"Oh, well that sucks I guess?" She questioned with a shrug.
"It is unfortunate its true, but despite it ostracizing me my entire life I am happy to have this deformity that lets me atone and be cleansed of my filth." He said with a shake of his head.
"So... how about this mystery you mentioned?" Aurora looked at the hunchback's swollen face enthusiastically.
"Huh? Mystery? Oh, uh right, right, come with me then and I will show you." Wringing his hands he hobbled to a door and pushed it open for the young taguel.
"Ooo, so dark and foreboding." As she looked into the room she could see the things most normal people could not and what she saw caused her to take pause. "I smell blood, and its really strong."
"B-blood!? What do you mean? I don't smell a thing!" The hunch laughed nervously.

"As we agreed upon", spoke a cloaked man as he dropped a coin purse inside of a crimson gauntlet. Standing before the man was a champion clad in blood crimson armor. His entire body was in cased inside of crimson painted steel. Straddled over his shoulder was great five sided iron rod. The rod had magical runes running down its flat side. A single solid steel bar acted as a grip for the warrior. The bar was wrapped in thick leather and orange cloth to give it a better grip. A solid circular ring worked as a counter weight at the end of the mighty war hammer, or better yet iron rod. This weapon was Xigshaw or better known as The Holy Axe of Faresh. The knight weielding this weapon was none other than Orcleous, the farmer turned Champion from Bern.
"All of it better be here", spoke Orlcoeus as he tossed the coin bag up and down in the palm of his hand measuring out the weight of the gold. He never liked working with the cloaked man, but he owed him a favor from his days as a rouge himself. Orcleous always replayed his debts and the man had called in the favor. If it was up to Orcleous he would still be back in Lycia fighting the monster threat. However honor demanded that he answer the call and now his honor had been satisfied.
"Of course it is all there", spoke the man as he prepared to take his leave. "I would not cheat one of my friends", he spoke with a wolfish smile.
"Oh please", spoke Orcleous as he placed the coin purse in his pocket. "You would knife me in the back if someone payed you to do it. Shoot you probably would knife your own mother", spoke the champion.
"My mother", he spoke while walking away. "I would knife her for free". With that line he sunk into the shadows and disappeared from vision. His last statement left a disturbed look on Orcleous face.
"I might need to count my coin", spoke Orcleous. However the Champion was not going to count it right now. He knew better than that. They may have been in a dark alleyway, but one thing Orcleous knew was that eyes were always on you. It would not be long before some pick pocket attempted to steal his purse or some mugger attempted to murder him for his money. No, Orcleous would have to count his earnings back in the inn, and behind a lock door.
With his decision firmly decided Orcleous began to make his way back to the inn. As he walked down the docks he noticed a peculiar scene occur. A young lady, no older than he was when he left home, got off a boat and announced to the world that she was as green as Orcleous father's thumb. After that she was immediately preyed upon.
"A invention into a dark corner", spoke Orcleous already figuring out what was going on. She was going to get stabbed. That Orcleous was sure of. Taking a deep breath Orcleous decided his course of action. His mind said for him to go back to his room and conduct his own business. However his honor, the code that separated him from the beast he hunted, told him to intervene.
"Alright lets see how this goes", spoke Orlceous as he began to follow behind the young maiden. As they arrived at the door Orcleous heard the young women speak. She had a good nose on her. Orcleous could not smell a thing, but then again he was a few feet back. "Step forward if you want to meet the grim reaper girly", spoke Orcleous as he walked in ear shock. His crimson armor clanked like a kitchen and his eyes burned a hole though the ugly man and the dark room.

"EEP!" Aurora lurched forward, "I... I didn't even hear you coming!" The young taguel turned to face the champion. "Oooo! You're all red and shiny and stuff!" She sniffed. "Hmm... you have some serious magic on you. Perhaps even unique... I wonder if you could teach me it? Hmm?" She pressed a finger to her lips.
To the observant they might notice her sharp and filed nails, or even her sharp canines. "No... wait... its coming off that stick!" She began to circle around the champion in an attempt to get a better look before recalling her manners. "Oh sorry, excuse me for getting ahead of myself." She lightly tapped her fist to her hooded head, "I am Aurora! Mage extraordinaire! Be it light! The trinity! or the pitch black darkness of the all consuming nether," As she spoke she demonstrated her ability by producing orbs of all five variants about herself in sequence. The hunchback in the meantime found it would be an excellent time to slink away down the ally and out of sight.
Aurora had in fact completely forgotten everything she was once doing in her display and show for the champion that the room and the hunchback were nowhere near her mind. As she juggled the orbs of varying magics she winked at the crimson armed man. "And now for the finale!" Throwing all of the orbs high in the sky they each exploded in a flurry of colors and lights reflecting off of each other. "Pretty amazing aren't I?" She stood with her hands on her hips and a slight bend in one knee.

Is she a dog or a women, thought Orcleous to himself as the young maiden began to bounce around. It was like walking up to a little puppy. She was all over the place. Still it was better than her walking into that dark room. Seriously what was she thinking, Orcloeus thought to himself. After looking at her sniffing around his hammer he was pretty sure she was not thinking. How in the world did this young maiden survive so long, Orcleous wondered. Then again she is kind of green. This was probably her first time away from home. A true pity. Wherever she lived before she got here she was clearly sheltered. Still that was a subject for another time and another moment. Right now it was clobbering time.
with a twist of his shoulder Orcleous pulled Xigshaw down and slammed the head of his weapon into the ground. The Champion's eyes focused on the shady man who had lured the young maiden to this location. Orcelous had every intention of ridding the world of such a eye sore, but things went a different way. The young maiden stepped up and grabbed Orcleous attention with three separate orbs of magic. Normally Orcleous would ignore such a thing and focus on ridding the world of yet another cockroach, but the nature of the magic itself mesmerized him.
"Impossible", spoke Orcleous as he stared at the young maiden. In a single moment she had created three seperate orbs from three different schools of magic. That should be impossible, well not completely impossible. Arch sages technically had the skill and learning to pull that off, but this girl was most definitely not a Arch sage. That fact he was completely sure, but then again here she was pulling off this impossible feat. The maiden's little magic trick was so astonishing to the well traveled Champion that he lost track of the shady man. That man was no longer important. What was important was the amazement that stood before him.
"How", spoke Orcleous ignoring the maiden's question. A dumbfounded look covered his face as his eyes gleamed with astonishment. "How in the world did you do that? I thought mages could only use magic from one school alone. Sages had the ability to use magic from two, but never a combination of both dark and light."
As Orcleous waited for the maiden's response his mind began to process all the information that was presented to him. It was then that Orcleous remembered that he was suppose to murder the hunch back. "Oh right", spoke the champion as he began to look around for the man. His eyes shifted from amazement and moved to pure murder. Looking around Orcleous could not find the man, but there was one thing Orcleous knew about rouges, they never work alone. Orcleous was sure that he had friends inside of the dark building.
"Hold on a second", spoke Orlcoeus as he took a torch out from his pouch. The Champion then lit it up with a match and tossed the rod inside of the dark room. If there was anyone inside Orcleous was sure he would see them.

Aurora felt simply giddy, she had successfully enraptured the man, he looked upon her with such astonishment and wonder, she knew she was the center of attention and it was good. "You see, shiny crimson stick man! I AM AURORA FENNEC, and the standard norms or reality do not apply to me! Why the world would shift and bend to my whims!" She threw her arms high and her head back in show.
With a more serious tone, or more serious by default she lowered herself so that she was standing like a normal person, "Is it truly so strange though? If one has dedicated themselves to magic fully, why should they not have the capabilities? Are they so different that a man can only achieve one or two? You make these statements and apply special names like sages but I propose another possibility; I am just a scholar of magic in its purest sense!" She threw her arms out so that they formed an L with one to the sky and the other pointing at the man. "Now, what about this stick of yours, never have I seen something like it."
As the champion recalled the important part, the why he was there, the girl showed clear dissatisfaction upon her face as he found something else aside from her more interesting. It was unfortunate, but the hunchback had hobbled off down the alley and out of sight. His deformed frame would be easy to spot, and easier to catch if he were to pursue, but that would leave a potential building of criminals unexplored.
As the torch landed inside, it provided enough light to reveal three men in close proximity and another could be heard falling over a bar and crashing into the ground. "Uh, you just scared those guys." The crooks knew what the intent was and two of them drew weapons, meager daggers.

"Look I will tell you all about Xiggy once things are done here", spoke Orcleous to the young girl as he stared into the now illuminated room. He expected to find something, but in truth he was expecting more. So far only two thieves had shown themselves and to be honest they were not very impressive. There knives however posed a bit of a threat. A normal knight or general would have laughed such weapons off. They were mere toys to them. If a sword could not piece there armor what made you think a knife could? That kind of logic ended with many a warrior having a slit throat. There was no greater danger to a knight than a sharp and think knife. The blade could get between armor and stab inside of cracks. Orcleous was on guard the moment he noticed there choice of weapon.
"Stay behind me", spoke Orcleous as he took the first step. His crimson plated boots song out a enchanting ring as the rest of his armor began to jiggle. It was not Orlceous first time in full plate, but he sure was enjoying it. Throughout his entire career as a mercenary he could never truly afford full plate armor. Now however, things were a bit different. The plate armor was now on his side of the court and he was going to use every advantage that it gave him.
As the thieves rushed forward Orcleous pulled Xigshaw off his shoulder. His eyes focused in on his enemies weapon. Pulling back on the massive war hammer his enemies thought they stood a chance. There was no way he was going to swing that large weapon, and if he did it was going to be a slow attack. Such a heavy ..." The thieves thought process was going to have to go on hold as Orcleous shoulder shifted to swing the weapon forward. To the horror of the thieves Xigshaw came forward far faster than they expected it. The massive weapon cut thought the air like a hawk diving for its prey. The thief in the front was fast enough to dodge, but the one in the back.
"Return to Ash", shouted Orcleous as he brought his massive weapon down for a attack. The hulk of iron cut thought the air like a saber slamming into the side of a attacking thief. The force from the blow was so great that it practically cleaved the man into two. The head shattered the man's spine and squashed his insides. As the weapon connected a loud crack filled the air. The thief's body flew back five feet and toppled over itself.
"Alright who is next", spoke Orcleous as his eyes turned toward the first thief. The man, after seeing his friend killed in one shot, had given up on taking on Orcleous. He was to heavily armored and to strong for his liking. However he felt he could compensate for that by taking the young maiden hostage. If he had her he was sure that he could take down the knight. There honor an all.

Xiggy? Was that the name for the stick? "Aww, such an affectionate name! Its like what we might call a child!" Aurora was not teasing the champion but the tone would make one think so. The man was not elegant with his combat, nothing like her brother, but it was quite the spectacle regardless.
It was like crushing a can. The man who got hit was killed most brutally. It was as if his body were compressed and cracked open at the same time. The thief was sent tumbling through the air like a rag doll with innards spilling forth and wrapping up around his body. If not for the brutality of war form fighting and general hunting she would have been terribly horrified.
Two more crooks rushed out of the tavern with the intent to double team the champion. The first was clearly the wealthiest of the lot able to afford a sword of his own, though he did not know how to use it properly. The second was a threat to all around him. In one hand he came with a dagger, and in the other a live mine. Insurance if you will.
The more nimble thief came right for Aurora instead. "Woah!" She stumbled back as he moved in threatening to stab her narrowly missing he stepped again jabbing and she fell onto the ground. "Hey!" She angrily shouted as she unleashed an orb of nether. Unable to avoid at such close range the thief was blasted back before being pounced upon in a most animalistic manner. Using her claws Aurora dug them into the thief's throat stabbing deep into his trachea and corroded artery.

As the thief moved to greener pastures Orcleous began to move to give chase. However his attempt was cut off by the appearance of two more thieves. At a quick glance the two men seemed more like annoyances rather than actual opponents. However Orcleous has been around the block for a good bit now. In the past he had run with a group of assassins and he knew most of there tricks. The man with the sword, who was holding it reverse grip, was far more skilled than his looked applied. The reverse grip was useful for quick and sharp strikes. Only the foolish would underestimate it. Those not trained in the art of the sword however might see it as a mistake. The second man used terror as his weapon. It was clear to Orcleous that the mine was real. The man was counting on that. He wanted to use fear to drive the battle in his favor, probably in combination with the sword carrier. A great plan. Orcleous could see why these two came out next. However they both made a major mistake that they would soon regret.
"I don't have time to teach children how to breath", shouted Orcleous. His line made no sense, but he had heard it in a story once and thought it would be a cool thing to say. His training since he had left Bern had changed the Champion. He was far the better warrior and during that time Orcleous had leaned a new talent. Thus where the new line came in. Closing his eyes Orcleous began to focus the natural energy that flowed though his body. The two would be assassins rushed trying to cover as much space as possible.
[Daunt]
"Daunt", spoke Orcleous as a pressure wave erupted from his body. A surge of intense fear fell over the two thieves as they came near Orcleous. A sudden and sharp sense of fear fell over the two as there eyes stared at the daunting figure in front of them. Orcleous eyes became hollow as the night and fire seemed to erupt all around him. The armored figure seemed to be ten feet tall and gave off a aura of pure death. Screams filled the building as the two assassins became overwhelmed with a sense of fear. The second assassin dropped his mine on the floor and stared at Orcleous in pure terror. This was the moment Orcleous was waiting for.
"Now you die", shouted Orcleous as he dashed forward. As he moved he pulled his magical weapon into a full power swing. The first thief ran in terror at the approach of the oger, which was actually Orcleous. The second thief however was paralyzed by his fear.
"Mercy", he shouted as Orcleous magical weapon came down. Soon the ground was stained crimson and the battle shifted from two on one to one on one.

The thief beneath Aurora gurgled and lurched, his body writhing wildly until slower and slower, the man began to grow stiller and stiller until he moved no more. Looking up from her moment of animalistic rage she wiped her claws on his clothing to get rid of the blood. Actually her whole hand was covered in it. "Ugh." She groaned. This was part of the why she hated doing things other than magic.
"I think this one is dead." She looked at Orcleous to see all the corpses about the man and a final one screaming and running frantically in terror having abandoned his blade entirely. "I got this one!" With both hands she formed orbs of nether and light. "WOOOO!!!" she threw them both together striking simultaneously, the magic mixing but rejecting the other making it more volatile ripping open the body on impact. "And that is how you give as good as you get!"
With a bounce in her step she moved to the tossed sword and picked it up. "Hmm... souvenir!" It was a rugged sort of thing but it was clean of blood at least." Looking at the corpses briefly she then turned her focus back to the champion. "So big man, that was... impressive. I still think my brother may have been able to take you though." She teased. "We should probably get out of here though. Before people know what we just did here." She bent over and continued to wipe the blood off of her hand. "Get something to drink maybe. I'm pretty new here."

It seemed that Orlcoeus estimate of the man's power was far overblown. He thought the man would be a worthy challenge with him using the back hand style. Instead the man gave into his primal fear and retreated only to be struck down by the tri mage, which was still impressive. Orcleous began to wonder thought if this was all of them. Part of him wanted to search the compound for more enemies, but part of him felt that it was best to leave while they were ahead. The victory had requited him to use a skill that was true, but so far it was pretty easy. He had not taken any major blows, nor did the mage. This very notion worried him. Orlcoeus had been a veteran of many battlefields. He understood that good luck was often meet with ill. He would have to watch his step in the near future.
"It seems we are done here", spoke Orcleous as he threw the hexagon rod over his shoulder. He then began to look at the girl. She was strange, there was no doubt about that, but at this point he was starting to realize she was not exactly human. Her ears were long, almost like a fox, and she had a tail. Her teeth were also pointy, which alerted him to the fact that she was probably a carnivora. Now the champion began to think back to her sniffing earlier and it all seemed to make sense. Still Orcleous kept his new revelation to himself. She had offered to get a drink and the Champion figured he could use that time to discuss things. He had heard some weird legends from Vinland, but he never figured they would be true.
"Yeah sure, I know just the place", spoke Orcleous. The Champion swung his weapon once. The action removed the blood off the magical weapon and then began to let it lean over his shoulder. Stepping out of the building and into the street his armor began to clank like a kitchen. Orcleous was not completly use to wearing heavy armor, but he was trying to get use to it. He understood that armor types were important for terrain and positions. On the docks Orcleous wanted as much protection form knife wounds as possible. Cut throats and cut purses came in the same package around these parts. Orcleous walked a good bit from the gang hideout to a sleepy little bar near the docks. Dockin Rockin, was the name of the place. It was a humble little place, but Orcleous liked the keepers. 'The small inn had a nice little bar and sitting area and cozy little rooms. Orcleous had been staying in it for the last two days and he was satisfied with his stay. If she wanted to drink and talk he was sure this would be the best place. The crowd here was well mannered and decent folk. Not many of them on the docks, and even fewer with the rise in crime.

While the man spoke she stood patiently with a sway in her body letting her arms moves about her body in swings. "That is a really neat trick! Gross, but neat." She commented on his blood removal method. She followed the heavily armored champion with her usual bounce and skip making her and him a very odd duo for any onlookers. She opted to not speak further on the way there in order to let this strange man speak first but he seemed satisfied to wait. She would not reveal her face to him yet but she carried a very dissatisfied expression at this.
Outside of the bar she looked upon the sign in frustration. What did all of these squiggling lines mean!? She saw them everywhere so they must be important. Written word perhaps? She knew her peoples writings well enough but it was infuriating for her. She eventually let it go with a sigh and followed him in. Maybe she could take some classes? After all who could possibly refuse such a cute, well mannered, and amazing vulpine girl like her? At least this is what she had believed.
The bar was rather quiet for its sort of establishment. It was far from empty as well but the patrons kept to themselves and their own company. "OOOOoooo." Her head was on a swivel in here taking it all in. The crossed axes behind the bar. The animal heads mounted on the walls, the faint scent of incense and tobacco smoke mixing. It did not take long to find a table and seats for two. "It's warm and cozy. Makes me want to curl up and take a nap."

"Can I have a order of roast duck and a glass of water", spoke Orcleous to a waitress. The Champion decided that they were going to need to eat before he started to get into anything serious. He had a lot of questions to ask her and he wanted a lot of answers. The maiden that was sitting on the other side of the table was as innocent as a baby, or at least in Orlcoeus eyes. She did kill a few of there enemies, but she still lacked the proper level of common sense needed to survive the docks. Shoot Orlcoeus was surprise she got this far. He had to be sure to recommend her ship captain to the next person traveling at sea. Many other scally wags would have sold her to a slave market before she reached the coast.
"Yeah, I can see what you are talking about", spoke Orcleous following up on her comment about the place feeling nice. Orcleous really like this inn after all. However he would not dare fall asleep in the booths. He would wake up naked with a carrot tied around his neck. Orcleous had far better ambitions in his life than being robbed and killed inside of a inn.
"However I would not dream of sleeping here, unless I was in a locked room. You may not know it, but the docks are one of the worst places in the city. Crime runs high in this region and there are few guard patrols to assist. The way you got off the ship pretty much announced to the world that you are not from this region. You may not know it, but being a traveler away from home marks you as easy pickings for predators. Speaking of which, where are you from? You seem a bit off for someone from the main land?"

"Roast duck and water? Hmm, that sounds pretty tasty to me actually." After she said that she realized that she does not have the means to pay for anything around here. She was able to barter back in Vinland but here? It was far more established in their metal passing system. She quietly humphed to herself and her empty stomach.
"Heeheehee! So, you figured me out. Maybe I ought to work on my stuff a bit more. Well, I am not from the mainland, I came here from Vinland on a ship. I heard there was a great land here full of cities and amazing sights. It just sounded so special and I figured if I came here I could act as an envoy to the people of this land. There have been a number of grievances since you all came to Vinland you see. I just figured if I came here I could speak in our behalf and maybe work things out." She smiled at him.
Her smile slowly shifted to being a little wry, "And if you are concerned about predators let me tell you I am the apex around here." It was true she was the only Taguel around for now but there were plenty of warriors that could beat her down even in war form, the man sitting across from her for instance. Her greatest advantage in this instance would be the fact she was an entity all to herself. No one here had faced off something like her.

So he was right. She was not human. Still that was not the most important thing at the moment. "Excuse me, can you make that two orders of Roast Duck and two glasses of water", shouted the Champion to the waitress. The fact that the maiden had not ordered made it clear to him that she had no money. Or at the every least she made it appear as if she did not have any. If so, it was a brilliant play. Either way Orcleous was no longer worried about that. He had to address the maiden sitting across from him.
"So let me get this straight, you are some kind of Vinland diplomat", spoke Orcleous as he looked at the young girl. To be honest Orcleous could not tell how old she was. He knew nothing about her species or how they grew. However there was one thing he was sure of, this women was no politician. There was no way that the animal people of Vinaland would send her to mediate for them. Then again Orcleous did not hear much in the way of complements about her people. Maybe some of the rumors were true, but Orcleous highly doubted that. If half the rumors about Benr were true then Orcleous would be a cave man.
"I am sorry, but I have a hard time picturing you as a politician. Are you talking about your clan or the people of Vinaland as a whole", asked Orcleous. Before he forgot his train of thought Orcleous chimed back in. "Also, you should fear the dagger in the dark", spoke Orcleous as a serious expression dawned his face. "It does not matter how strong you are or how fast you think you are. A well placed dagger in the back can take out anyone. I understand that you are confident in your strength, but you should still be careful. If opponent catches you into a well planned trap, like earlier today, then you aare as good as dead. Never underestimate the power of deception."

As the champion altered his order Aurora was unsure whether it was safe to assume he got the extra for her to eat or if he was just a voracious eater. Admittedly with her tribe and family none could fault her for wondering, so she simply decided to wait and see rather than jumping to conclusions on the matter.
As the champion spoke his questions the taguel tapped her fingers onto the wooden seat rapidly. Was it impatience or just extra energy that consumed her? He cut right to the meat of everything and while her initial response was to say, 'Why yes, I am indeed a diplomat of my people. I wish to express the concerns we have with what is being perceived as an invasion by the colonists of the mainland. Once we can all come to a harmonious understanding with one another I hope to foster future friendship and a deeper understanding between our peoples,' she was nowhere near that eloquent and was raised not to tell lies to people, even if it would benefit yourself and your tribe, for a man who lies is no better than a mouse. "Ah, uh, er, um, well not exactly per se. I mean, I like to think of myself as such ya know? Unofficially?" She sighed. "I just want to ease the tensions between my people and yours. My people won't listen to a word I say since I am still a kit in their eyes. So I was hoping to find a better ear here. I may not be able to give official answers for my people but maybe I can help influence yours into more understanding of us." She looked almost defeated by giving her explanation.
She may be one to ignore others for her own amusements on a daily basis but Orcleous would get through to the kit with his cautionary tale of deception. "I will be more careful. It is not common for taguel to act as such. Honor is everything to my clan, even if we are not as strong as many of the others."
