"Alright mercenaries listen up", spoke the voice of a maiden as a warrior walked out onto a wooden stage. Her hair was as blue as the ocean and seemed to be just as deep. Her skin was as pale as the moon and her eyes shinned like the stars. Her armor was scratched and dented from previous battles, but even still it radiated in the new morning light. The full plate was obviously custom made, as it seemed to hug her frame close enough to turn a blade, but lose enough to allow for perfect movement. On her right side was a blade that was clearly designed by a skilled blacksmith. The weapon in itself was of the rapier style and held a very elegant, but practical guard. The blade on this fine weapon was none other than regal, the finest of metal that Wei had never seen. Topping off her outfit the maiden wore a crimson cape marked with the signs of a ancient noble house native to the region of Thria. This was none other than Lady Velvetine von voltair also known in Thria as the Patron Saint of mercenaries due to her abundant use of men of coin.
"You all know the threats and dangers we will face and you all will be properly compensated. The mercenary who takes down the most of the file beast will have there pay tripled and the one who slays the leader shall receive a extra three hundread gold. Remember however that the dead can not spend there earnings! Watch your backs out there, stay in formation, and look out for the man next to you. He or she may be the difference between you coming back alive or joining the dead patrolling the manor!" With that the maiden walked off the stage and allowed the group of mercenaries the cheer and gossip between themselves.
"So easy to control", she murmured to herself.
In the mist of this frenzy was Wei. The young lad was starting to make a name for himself as a axe for hire. However his reputation had not been set in stone. His previous failures on the battlefield had been overlooked due to his age and the chaotic nature of his last two jobs. However Wei vowed to himself he would do better this time. This mission was important, not only to him, but many of the mercenaries around. The monster threat had intensified in recent months. In this new wave of beast a group of cloaked bonewalkers had assaulted a manor a noble man. That nobleman fled his home and left his servants behind to be slaughtered. He later sold the property to Velvetine Von Voltair in hopes of gaining a profit and purchasing land in a more stable region of Lycia. Lady Voltair, seeing opportunity bought the land and used her mercenary contacts to move to clear it out. Her goal was not only to clear out the land of the monster abomination, but also to turn a profit by recultivating the land and using it for creating wine. Of course she would build a stronger gate and wall, but that was after the job was done.
"Alright time to make a name for myself", spoke Wei as he touched his twin axes. If the mission went well Wei would have enough money to afford a new weapon. He had a idea of switching up his style. His forced training with his auntie Lila had given him some skill in two handed axe fighting. However he did not have the weapon to use in battle so at the moment he was forced to fall back on what he knew.
