Name:Victor
Class:Paladin
Age:55
Born in:Eturia
Appearance: Victor is tall, rugged, and muscular looking, being at a height of 6 ft, 1 in. He looks like this: static.zerochan.net/Liver.%28Akame.ga.Kill%21%29.full.1772708.jpg most of the time, wearing a white shirt underneath a black military-esque outfit, and white gloves as well. His hair is done in a ponytail as a tribute to his old sword instructor, who did his hair in a similar manner.
Personality: Victor was, in his youth before the accident, a very arrogant and irritating person. The sort of person that freely throws around their power, and quick to come to blows. Overconfident, reckless, and boastful.
Almost the exact opposite of what he became after the injury.
The most key change being that he had thrown away his arrogant pride, instead replacing it with a huge desire to learn all he could.
Over the years, he tempered himself further with the wisdom gleamed from his travels, adopting an almost-spartan like daily routine for both his mind and body that he has modified overtime that he uses each day.
He made use of this wisdom to analyze his opponents, and his training as a soldier to then adapt his tactics to them.
Seeking to teach the next generation not to repeat his failures, only his successes, he slowly gained a reputation for being a tough, but fair teacher that his students all respected greatly. For his part, he reciprocates that respect, and became known for giving sound advice as well. One of his core teachings is to maintain a state of constant vigilance so as to prevent one from being caught off-guard and suffering dearly for it.
However, deep down, he is still not entirely satisfied with himself, a factor that might have played a role in his recent decision to journey. He still has, occasionally, horrific nightmares about the day he suffered his leg injury, and some of the days that followed it. He also has an estranged relationship with his family, save for his little sister, who did her best to keep in touch with her brother, and wishes to maybe one day repair it. Also, the death of many of his comrades and friends over the years has also affected him.
In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, reading, and maintaining weaponry.
History: Victor was born to a family known for producing powerful swordsmasters, and Victor was no exception. From the time he was five years old, he took to the sword like a fish to water, and by the time he was 18, had acquired quite a bit of prestige in the military. He was known for his great skill, power, and speed, the epitome of a myrmmidion... and the hallmarks of a great swordsmaster. He earned the monkier of "Bladed Lightning" for becoming a one-man Blitzkrieg during a battle against a rather large gang of bandits, a title that he wore with absolute pride.
However, he let his power and talent for the sword get to his head, a state that led to his inevitable downfall one day on the battlefield. The day he turned 20, he was out fighting by himself against a fighter wielding a hammer. Victor was winning up until he stopped to catch his breath, figuring his opponent was too slow to hit him in that time.
He was wrong.
His opponent managed to swing the hammer hard enough into Victor to knock him to the ground in that time, and with it, his sword out of his hand, and a second strike would have hit him in the head, killing him.
Instead, he barely countered it with a kick that ended up taking the brunt of the hammer blow, and giving him enough time for help to arrive.
But the damage was already done by then.
The hammer blow had been powerful enough to completely break the bone in his leg, and even though it was healed with a mend staff, the extent of the damage was so severe, he could no longer run nearly as fast as before, disqualifying him from the path of a swordsmaster, an event that utterly crushed him, and was soon after discharged from duty because of said injury.
From there, it only got worse, with almost all of his family treating him as an outcast from there on, the shame of having a son acting so careless on the battlefield, leaving him completely locked out of following his ancestor's path of becoming a swordsmaster. During this time, Victor nearly committed suicide, with only his little sister, the only member of the family who didn't treat Victor as an outcast, barely managing to convince him not to go through with it.
It was then that, one night, Victor had an epiphany: He could not run.
But a horse could.
Retraining himself as a cavalier, and now with a renewed vigor for life, he was determined not to ever be so careless as before ever again.
So he decided to go on a long journey, one that would mean he would not see his homeland for many years, but one he would use to educate himself on many things, and maybe even find a way to restore his leg in the process. He resolved not to return until he became a Paladin, as proof that he had truly changed.
For many years, he traveled the world, learning about the ways of the many different types of people, no longer bound by his arrogant pride, instead replaced with a limitless desire to improve and learn. It is through the training and widsom that desire had caused him to acquire through his travels, that, over the course of 30 years, led him to becoming a Paladin known for his expertise in magical weaponry, and sword-play.
He trained with a band of Saecan mercenaries, including swordsmasters and Nomad Troopers, during this time, and it was with them that he proved himself to be worthy of the title of Paladin through two heroic feats.
The first was when several gangs of bandits during the bandit war were about to lay total utter waste to a village of Saecans, Victor bought enough time for the villagers to get to safety, leading a charge on all the bandits, buying enough time in the process for them to evacuate. During this time, he rose to the fame that gave him a new title: "The Thunderbolt" when he was able to take on the leader, a quite powerful paladin, and after a long and hard battle, managed to finish him with a lightning-fast mounted sword technique that he used. The technique he used was born out of finally mastering the art of, as the Saecan's put it "Becoming one with both the horse and the sword" a process that took years to master.
That proved that he was ready for his final test, as it proved he could use his horse like it was part of his body in combat.
The second was also during the bandit war, and while not a formal battle between it, was the final test the Saecan's that had taken him in all those years ago had for him:
He was to beat his two masters: The swordsmaster that kept him trained and educated on the sword, and the nomad trooper that had educated him on the lance and the horse.
While it wasn't, needless to say, easy to beat the two of them, he won, and was officially recognized as a Paladin with the blessing of the Saecan leader of the village he had saved as a result.
Meaning that, thirty years later, he could return, his journey complete.
He then decided to go into a teaching career to teach the youth of his generation not to repeat his failures, only his successes. He took up a post, specifically, at one of Eturia's magic academies as a instructor on both combat training, and magical weaponry studies.
That was about four years ago.
More recently, now with tenure, he began to feel restless, and one could refer to that phenomenon as the result of spending time with youth that could be as eager as he was when he set out on his journey. However, such phenomenon tends to pass soon, and when his didn't he decided to go back to journeying around so as to once again further refine himself under the guise of an extended sabbatical.
