It had been a week since Aura had left from the company of Althea. She was an interesting one and yet another person he owed his life to, or at least some big favors. He also felt incredibly more comfortable not being in his old robes, that was a huge change. As he walked into a Cornwellian city he stretched his arms and let out a sigh of relief.
He made it! He made it a whole week, and a whole territory over without more excitement, and all on his own too! Maybe things would be looking up for him soon! "Help! Please! Somebody! Anybody!" Or not, he was just on a good run here too!
Aura looked to the voice of the one in distress. It appeared to be a woman on a street corner. Most others could not be bothered to get themselves involved but this was Cornwell, and that meant when someone was in distress you could count on a mercenary or two looking to profit.
"What's the matter?" A swordsman asked the woman?
"Oh, it's my son. He has run off with an odd group of people! I haven't seen him in days and I am growing terribly afraid for him!" Her eyes were pleading and desperate. Bloodshot and puffy, it was clear she had been crying for long nights at a time.
"What will you give me to find him?"
"I can only offer you what I have. About five silver."
"Five Silver!?" The mercenary sounded indignant. "I can hardly pay for one night in a tavern for that! Not if I want to best company of a pretty flower anyway!" He laughed wickedly to that joke and left.
Aura watched the scene unfold and felt a burning in his chest. A feeling of righteous anger perhaps? Or... more akin to wanting to rip him limb from limb and beat him with the soggy ends. Oh goodness, get that imagery out of his mind now!
But he was inclined to take action. "Excuse me mam. I am terribly sorry for his actions. Please, tell me more. I want to help, no payment needed."
"R-really?" She looked shocked. But he offered an encouraging nod.

Krystal walked slowly past the bustling movement of people walking along the city with Garrett riding on her. Garrett was slightly nervous as they wondered the city. They were back in Lycia where he almost got killed back when he along with a knight and hero almost died fighting bonewalkers and especially a powerful wight... He couldn't help but shudder slightly remembering that event. Krystal gave a concerned snort as she lifted her head slightly. Garrett patted her head to reassure her that he was fine. "It's alright girl, I'm fine" he said. Garrett pulled out the card that he got from the swordsman in Sacae. With the symbols オークはそれがオークであることを知っている plastered on the card, he couldn't help but wonder what he meant when he said translated "The oak knows it is an oak". "I know he said what it meant, but I can't help but feel that it has another meaning...but what" Garrett mumbled to himself. He put the card back in his satchel. Whatever it was, he was certain he could find the answers soon enough.
Then Krystal suddenly stopped. Garrett looked up to see what looked to be a familiar face. Is that... the priest we helped escape back in Etruria? Garrett wondered. He seemed to be talking to another woman about finding someone from what Garrett could slightly overhear. "Perhaps you could use my help as well? I don't need any payment either" Garrett said as Krystal walked closer to the group. She gave a friendly snort to the priest since she recognized him as an acquaintance.

The woman was overwhelmed as yet another man, the cavalier, came up from nowhere and began to offer his services for free. A single unarmed man was greatly appreciated, but the sight of a soldier, or mercenary proper was a blessing from a higher power. It brought her to tears once more, but this time it was not tears of grief but joy. The good kind.
Aura recognized the voice of Garrett enough to know he knew the owner of it, but not enough to peg him down, so when he turned his attention to the cavalier the sight of him was quite the surprise. Well now, what a small world they lived in. It always did a heart good to see a friendly face that you could share a good time with, especially in days as dark as these.
Reaching out as the horse snorted Aura pet the beautiful beast softly. The man's name eluded him in this moment and he did his best to avoid speaking his name right away. Shoot, he saved his life, he really should have committed it to better memory than this! "Ah, it is a pleasure to see you again friend." Acquaintance really, but friend sounded so much better, and why not be friends after all that previous craziness?
The woman soon began to compose herself again, enough to tell the two the direction that these strange men made off with her boy. It would seem they left town like any normal people would but they soon diverged off onto an old unused road. It was a path that lead closer to Ostia and was said to have monsters along the way. Not a happy prospect but neither was it confirmed.
Aura could not tell the woman he would not force her son to come back but sketchy behavior or not as long as there were no crimes involved there was little cause to force it. If there was crime on the other hand they were likely in for a very bad day. It was only two of them after all.

Garrett smiled as the priest seemed to recognize them. After all, it has been some time since he and Krystal helped the priest escape from Etruria. Though Garrett couldn't help but feel slightly guilty about what happened to his friend. He shook the feeling away from him however when the woman told them where to go. "Don't worry ma'am, we'll find him and bring him back safely" he said as he petted Krystal on her mane.
Krystal gave off a happy snort as Aura petted her as well. "Seems like you got Krystals favor still my friend" Garrett said with a smile as he started to move in the direction the women told them to go. He turned toward Aura while riding on Krystal. "So, how has things been since we left Etruria?" he said, hoping to make some small talk along the way. Besides, he wants to personally get to know the priest some more since it looks like he's a good guy.
Garrett at the same time however couldn't help but be slightly nervous when he remembered what they said about there possibly being monsters along the path. Granted, he doubts that there'd be any monsters along that specific path, but he still needed to keep his guard up. Not to mention, help protect the priest. He also wondered who the people were that made off with the woman's son. Likely not good people that's for certain. Garrett reached to his sheath and felt his sword in place, then reached to his back for his lance. Satisfied that they were still there, he turned back to the priest. "Well...I suppose we should head out I guess" he said.

As Garrett relayed Aura with questions and friendly comments he returned them with a smile and soft chuckle of his own. Ever since parting ways with Althea his life had been a lot easier, sure it was not that long ago but two weeks and not a single inquisition or mercenary or cultist after him is a very good thing.
"Well, I am glad Krystal thinks well of me still. She is a smart girl to remember me still, and a beautiful steed." He looked at the rider, he seemed to be doing well himself. "As for how things have been they have been better, but they have also been much, much, worse, so I will take it and be grateful for my current lot... and company!" He could regale him with tales of Hildebrand and being tackled by mercenaries that led to a fateful meeting with Althea which, led to Hildebrand... he needed his thoughts in order, but he thought they might scare the rider off.
At the suggestion of getting going Aura replied with a single "Agreed." The way of the road was an easy travel. Just at the beginning of it the road was laid with brick before transitioning into well worn and traveled dirt, easy traveling. "So, it has been quite a while, I suppose we could trade a tale or two eh? You know the greater reason I am here obviously but I am curious as to what leads you to travel so. Are you a mercenary?" He saved his life but he still knew so little of the rider.

Garrett smiled when the priest complimented on Krystal. He then nodded when the priest answered his question. "Ahh, thats good. I'm glad that things are going well for you from what it sounds like" he said. Krystal gave off a friendly snort as well, almost agreeing with Garretts statement.
"As to why I'm here? Well...its sort of a long story. But to make a long story short, I'm trying to find answers" He said as he sighed. Krystal whined when Garrett sighed. The memory of the bandit attack on his village was still burned in his mind. The burning of the houses, the slaughter of his friends, and the death of his parents still haunted him. He shook his head slightly as he looked ahead again. "To be honest with you, I thought I'd never be back in this part of Elibe. Last time I was here, I'm...just lucky to have survived an attack from some monsters" he said. He felt his lance that was strapped to his back. He still remembered vividly how he along with the Hero and Knight that were there managed to defeat the Wight and Bonewalkers that were attacking the town. He underestimated the power of the Wight and lost his original lance. This one was bought shortly after he arrived in Etruria, and before he even met the priest that he is now traveling with.
"By the way, I don't remember if I introduced myself back in Etruria. I'll admit, I maybe should have done so, but it's better late then never right? You can call me Garrett, and this horse is Krystal" he said with a smile on his face.

"No, I fear that neither of us were ever properly acquainted back then. Though I can scarcely blame us, there was a great deal of unknown factors and uncertainty going around." He chuckled to that. It was not a hollow or forced laugh as one might expect of such a dark and grim tiding but it was a bit ironic. "Well, everything has worked out so far. My name is Aura, and it is my pleasure to properly make your acquaintance." He chuckled.
"Here to look for answers?" Aura was not really looking to pry into his personal business but man, give a guy a bone here, looking for answers was a really, REALLY vague statement. Was he trying to find out what happened to someone? To find out where his destiny lay? Answers to life, the universe, and everything in it? Or maybe just where to get a darn good meal. He could get behind that question himself. "There is a lot I know, and far more I don't but if I can help you with any of these answers I would be more than happy to."
Garrett's comments on a monster attack were interesting. Lucky to have survived a run in with them huh? That sounds like a real troublesome deal. But hey he survived so it should be seen as a good experience. Aura considered his getting tackled and nearly seared by a crazy old woman a good experience for it led to his meeting with Althea and their night full of magic theory, learning, and debates.

Garrett nodded with a smile. "The pleasures all mine Aura" he said. He didn't think Aura would know as to who the bandits were that attacked his village and killed everyone in it, but he at least knew he had an ally that he could trust. "Thanks Aura...I'm glad that I can count you as an ally" he said. From the way it looked, Aura looked to be quite trusty as well as knowledgeable. Perhaps if he gets any other questions, he could come to Aura for some advice at least.
Garrett made Krystal keep walking as he kept pondering who it was that attacked his village. Why was it mine that was targeted? It really had nothing of importance save for a few wealthy items. Though those might attract thieves and bandits alike, those were set out for blood as well as destruction. No matter, I won't let it happen again. I will find them, get my revenge, and prevent the same thing from happening to others! Garrett thought. Krystal snorted as she kept walking. "I know girl, we'll find who we're looking for and bring him back safely" he said as he stroked her mane.
The path still brought memories of what happened that day with the monster attack as well. Garrett felt his lance that was strapped to his back. Though it had a nice new feeling of it being bought, and not used for combat yet, Garrett wondered how he let his guard down that caused him to lose his old lance. If it wasn't for the Hero, he might just be walking around as a manifested bonewalker himself and for Krystal...well he couldn't bare to think of the alternative.

Aura held his smile and cheerful demeanor as Garrett thanked him for everything, and calling him an ally huh? Why just an ally? No, that was not beyond reason, they did not know each other well in the least, still, friend did have a much better sound to it, and to be friends propelled a relationship forward much faster. Hm? Find who.
Aura was about to inquire further when there was a sound in the woods. A rustling that could only be born of something big moving within. "Something is here." He cautioned. Just thinking of the prospect of monsters assailing them made his skin crawl and he was ready to jump at every shadow to slink across the forest floor. Aura subtly hid behind Krystal and Garrett as he eyed the trees.
A low guttural moaning emanated from the depths, slowly growing in volume as the rustling did. Soon the snapping of branches and more rustling could be heard. All of it accompanied by the same moaning. "We-we-were surrounded!" The two had only realized the terrible truth far too late.
Out from the forest shambling revenants shambled their way forward. Their putrid flesh was rotting hanging on by the thinnest of tissues and threatening to simply fall to the dirt with no assistance. One, two, seven, revenants by Aura's count and there seemed to still be more coming, but they were bigger and... changed. They were what people called entombed, and they counted three. How were the two of them ever meant to contend with such a force!?

Garrett drew his sword as he observed the situation. Damn...how did we not notice something like this happening? he thought. Krystal shifted nervously as the Revenants drew closer. "Well Aura, looks like we're in another predicament just like back in Etruria huh?" he said.
As the revenants drew closer, Garrett could only observe to find a way out of this mess. "There's too many of them for me to fend off, we need to cut ourselves a way out! Climb on Aura, Krystal can take us out of here!" Garrett said. He swung his sword at a revenent that was to his left. The cut on the revenant was deep, but it didn't stop the monster from attempting to reach at Garrett with its claws. The claws slightly missed to his left, but Garrett could only push it back with his blade as the revenents continued to surround the duo.
Garrett pulled his lance from his back with his left hand as he attempted to stab at a revenant to his right only to miss. Damn...too many of them! Bonewalkers I can deal with, but revenants have skin thats almost in kin to heavy armor, I can barely hurt them nonetheless defeat them by myself! he thought. He turned toward the priest that was to his side, hoping that he'd climb on Krystal to attempt to escape. I won't die here, not now! he thought. First bonewalkers, and now this? He may as well become a monster hunter at this rate...assuming he can escape this predicament! "Don't worry Aura, I will not let either of us fall here!" he said, gripping his sword in his right and his lance in his left.

Aura may have begun training to fight with his fists, and studying the magic of strength. In fact he thought of it as a fantastic line of study and was enjoying it and the potential it could bare. Currently, it would seem however, that due to his inability to actually utilize the spell he and Garrett were in what one could conservatively call, a hopeless situation, and liberally, a desperate one. Hop on a horse, or not hop on a horse, it honestly all seemed desperate and hopeless either way.
"Bonewalkers? Revenants? Is that what these THINGS are called?" Aura asked, not actually expecting a proper answer as he proceeded to climb atop of Krystal's back. "Look, I don't think we can break through this line of monsters. Not on our own anyway!" The monsters were beginning to close in. The three entombed standing at the outside of the encroaching circle of dead flesh.
As a revenant got close Aura attempted to kick it away, it was about the best that he could do. His foot connected with the creature's face but slid off scrapping skin away, the creature entirely unfazed. "Ah!" The rotting facial muscles revealed and the putrid smell and bubbling puss made Aura want to puke. Worse still the creature grabbed on to his leg!
"No! NO!" Aura panicked grabbing on to Garrett as the revenant tried to pull him from the beast's back and onto the forest floor. Another revenant proceeded to try and do the same to Garrett as well.
