Dragons are creatures of legend, thought to be extinct after a great war in the distant past - the Scouring. Using tools known as Dragonstones to ascend to their monstrous true form, they are capable of fighting in the guise of humans as well, though far weaker than when transformed. The species is actually split into two groups, known as Castes: the mighty Dragons and mystical Manaketes. For future reference, a lowercase "dragon" includes both castes. More information on the lore of these fabled beings can be found here.
Most dragons are naturally attuned to one of the following elements.
There are also three exotic elements; Astral, Umbral, or Arcane, which are either unlocked at 500 posts or by using a BT to start as one.
Combat
In human form, Dragons and Manaketes alike call upon a reduced flow of power from their Dragonstone to gain superhuman strength and durability. Commonly known as "partial-" or more commonly "half-"shifting, this power comes with a price: the more power one draws from their stone, the more obvious their draconic heritage becomes. These effects can range from reptilian eyes or subtle patterns on the skin, to entire limbs being encased in golden scales, tails growing from nowhere, and wings sprouting when utilizing the higher tiers of partial shifting, though the specifics are generally left to the role player. More powerful combatants can use their element in human form to varying degrees depending on caste as well, launching fiery blows or utilizing powerful but short-range magic.
A transformed (or "full-shifted") Dragon is capable of infinitely greater feats, launching devastatingly powerful breath attacks or crushing foes with their tremendous strength while weathering most attacks with their nigh-invincible scales, while transformed Manaketes can launch more powerful breath attacks and even manipulate their element within the vicinity, becoming a perfect storm of magical destruction. However, this power comes at a far greater price; Elibe still remembers the Scouring, and few humans will react well to a creature of nightmare returning to reality. Abusing this power can and will lead to villages, cities, even entire countries seeking your demise. Transformation time is also limited due to the magic-poor air of Elibe, a reality which only the mightiest of their race can ignore.
Dragons and Manaketes can both buy Silver weapons after purchasing a Weapon Seal from the Item section of the shop and use Exotic Seals to alter them, but cannot buy other weapons, tomes or staves of any type, or skills.
At 500 posts, both castes can add an additional element of choice, any basic or exotic element regardless of their base element. PM mods.
Dragons
The more physical of the castes, Dragons channel the might of their birthright inwards, strengthening sinew and bone to both launch and absorb incredible impacts. While they do have some ranged options, by and large they are heavily focused on punching the bad guys until they stop moving, trading utility and subtlety for raw power.
Dragons are vulnerable to Dragonslayer weapons, and their hardened scales are less effective against magic.

Manaketes
Seeking absolute mastery of their element, Manaketes manipulate their essence to launch powerful elemental assaults. While capable of some of the same physical feats as Dragons, Manaketes trade a great deal of strength and durability for their magical prowess and versatility. Unlike dragons, they can fight effectively anywhere from melee to medium range once they master their power, and can even masquerade as human mages to some degree. As a result, they are a varied bunch, with some focusing on elemental melee, others focusing heavily on ranged combat, and some mixing the two approaches together.
Manaketes are extremely weak to Dragonslayer weapons, lacking the heavy protective scales of their more physical kin. They have no special weakness to other weapons, but are far more vulnerable than Dragons in general.

Human
- 10% halfshift (hardened skin that can resist basic weapons/spells, peak human strength and slightly beyond, but no superpowers)
Dragon
- Can transform into full dragon form for 1 post and launch a weak, short-range breath attack, but doing so ends the transformation immediately
100 posts
Human
- 30% halfshift - clear draconic/unnatural attributes like scales, reptilian eyes, sharp fangs, pointed ears, and similarly obvious effects, but in return you wield strength far beyond mortal ken - this level of shift is capable of shattering wooden walls, leaving small craters in the ground, punching people in half, etc.
Dragon
- Can transform for up to 3 posts into a durable dragon form with a powerful but linear breath attack that can be used once per transform
250 posts
Human
- 50% halfshift; can transform limbs entirely for unbelievable strength and durability, but this induces massive changes like completely scale-covered arms, glowing tattoos in the pattern of scales covering entire limbs or full body, and other blatantly draconic shifts. In return, this level of strength can batter stone walls, bend and break steel gates, and quite effectively turn the average human body into a fine mist.
- Gain the ability to physically conduct/extrude their element in human form, but not expel it (flame kick, thunder punch)
- Can launch a breath attack in human form once per page
Dragon
- Dragon form can now emit its element within a very short range (melee-range bursts or just being on fire, not giant nova)
- Transformation lasts up to 5 posts
500 posts
Human
- Can expel element short distances in human form in linear bursts and novas (shoryuken/flame kick/ice nova/hadouken, but not kamehameha/spirit bomb, and no utility/control a la tomes)
- Can use a powerful breath attack up to twice per page
Dragon
- Gains diamond-hard plating that can ablate most attacks, and strength that can casually rend castle walls
- The might of a Divine Dragon is so vast it warps the world around them, transforming nearby weather to match their element.
- The dragon has minimal control over the effect and CANNOT turn it off.
- Transformation is now unlimited
Human
- Can use magic roughly on par with beginner-level tomes (Trinity, Flux, Light), but cannot manipulate their element with great control
Manakete
- Can transform into a weak draconic form for 1 post, gaining the ability to launch a weak, short-to-mid range breath attack that immediately breaks the transformation

Human
- 10% halfshift (hardened skin and peak human strength). Using this ability reduces the range of your magic due to the shared power source.
- Can now create and manipulate the equivalent of Basic level magic within their immediate vicinity
Manakete
- Can transform into an offensive draconic form for 3 posts, gaining a powerful breath attack that can be used once. Only minor durability is granted by the transformation.
- Gain the ability to manipulate their element within a short range
250 posts
Human
- Can now manipulate their element freely within a short range
- Launch powerful breath attacks on a 4-post cooldown
Manakete
- Manipulate their element with power akin to Advanced magic within a medium range around them
- Can launch powerful breath attacks on 2-post cooldown
500 posts
Human
- Can now generate and manipulate extremely powerful magic at medium range, exceeding all human magics in power albeit lacking its range and utility
- Breath attack is now on a 2-turn cooldown
Manakete
- Divine Manaketes generate unfathomable quantities of raw elemental essence that warps the weather in their vicinity, causing freak firestorms, tornadoes, blizzards, etc.
- Can control these environmental effects at will and use them offensively
- Refined self-control also allows Manaketes to quell these storms as desired, but using larger quantities of magic will make them start up again
- Transformation is now unlimited
