Name:Vesper Linneth
Class:Shaman
Age:19
Born in:Bern
Appearance:Vesper has long, flowing black hair and bright green eyes. Around 5’4’’, she’s gotten slightly tanned and less willowy from her time on the road. She deliberately cultivates a pretty, innocent image to gain an advantage over gullible individuals or prospective foes.
Vesper prefers to wear purple robes to mock her brief career as an acolyte. She’s typically seen wearing a violet robe with golden tassels, frayed at the edges from her adventures. She carries herself with a poise and posture that make her blue-blooded background unmistakable.
Personality:To strangers, Vesper Linneth is a meek and unassuming girl. It’s a façade that falls apart fairly fast, however, and her true personality soon asserts itself; she’s a prissy, snobbish and temperamental young woman.
Vesper’s philosophy is simple – other people are fine, but ultimately people should only look out for number one. And number one in Vesper Linneth’s book is Vesper Linneth.
Money and power is the name of her game.
Vesper doesn’t consider many things above or beyond her. Blackmail, thievery, seduction, black magic…these things are just tools in her arsenal. She delights in shocking others with how low she’ll go; to her, people who don’t use them are too weak or cowardly and get what they deserve.
Vesper is horribly afraid of her own death. Her actions have self-preservation as their basis. She wants more money and power because those are the only things that keep her safe in a harsh, uncaring world.
Despite her entitled philosophy, Vesper isn’t deliberately evil – she won’t kill or harm another for fun, or when she can afford not to. She’s very averse to doing so and prefers to resolve situations peacefully, only killing when her life is in danger.
Vesper understands black magic through the lens of her training as a light mage. The Dark is just another energy source to be harnessed by her will, and using it leaves her physically and emotionally exhausted.
History:Vesper Linneth was born the daughter of Baron Linneth, the sole heir to a long and proud line of Bernese warriors.
From a young age, Vesper showed an interest in magic. Her mother, a devout follower of St. Elmine, wanted to nurture this and sent her to a convent, to learn the ways of the Light. Vesper was known as a troublemaker even then, pulling pranks and being terrible at her lessons.
Vesper was never fond of Light magic, viewing it as lacking in power and versatility. One day, she stumbled upon a book of dark, forbidden lore and learned its secrets.
Meanwhile, her father the Baron was chafing under Ilian rule. When the rebellion broke, he immediately joined – first in secret, using his family’s considerable wealth to fund revolt efforts. Simultaneous with this, the priestesses at the convent discovered Vesper’s dabbling in the dark arts, and her horrified parents locked her in the castle.
Vesper was undeterred, and continued to practice her magic in secret.
After the Tournament of Arms, the Baron decided to ramp into outright rebellion. Sadly, his castle was captured in a long battle, and he was killed buying Vesper time to escape. She fled her father’s lands and has been wandering ever since, trying to regain her lost money and power.
NPC fight:Vesper spoke a harsh, painful word and thrust her hands forth in a panic. A bolt of violet energy shot from her palms, blasting the pikeman against the wall. He didn't have time to respond as Vesper stomped her foot against the ground and unleashed a pillar of raw blackness, shooting through his chest and leaving him motionless on the ground.
