Just as Kyra was beginning to lose hope in regards to getting home safe or ever finding Lunie, her red haired friend came crashing through the bushes. It wasn't how she'd expected them to reunite, but it was what it was. Unfortunately, something seemed to have Lunie incredibly upset, as she completely ignored both her and Alphonz. Approaching the sobbing girl, she reached out, putting an arm around her in a gentle and not too excessive embrace. Not saying a word, partially not knowing what to say, and partially because of pure exhaustion, Kyra hoped that the solemn air between the two would help in some way, with Lunie having clearly just experienced something terrible, no different than herself in a way.
I wonder what's got Lunie so upset... She seemed determined enough to go off on her own earlier, and now she's back here, crying more than I've seen her do in the last day since I met her. Poor Lunie... I've barely known her, and she already has endured so much, mentally and physically, in the last day alone. What's happened to me should be minor in comparison. I... I have to keep going, just a bit more... I have to seem strong, if not for myself, then for Lunie... for my friends...
It became clear on the outside that Kyra was on the verge of crying along with Lunie, but she was doing her best to hold it back. Soon, around the time Ito came running up to the group, she seemed to just be lightly comforting Lunie, her expression largely emotionless as she stared off at nothing. Things aren't going to get better, are they, father? This is why mother was always so wary of letting me learn how to fight... She knew a day like this would happen... How did you do it, father? How did you... how did you stay so strong?

Selunae continued to despair in her own personal hell she mentally isolated herself in. How could this travesty have happened? Her father had told her that the bandits had killed Master Flint. Stanvir and the others were bandits now, though. Had he known? What about the hunters that returned? Did they know? Could this mistake have been prevented just by talking to them before rushing off like fools? The huntress was spiraling hard, she knew the answers to her questions already (whether those answers were right or wrong didn’t even matter anymore). They had rode off into danger half cocked, and she could have prevented all this tragedy just by getting the story from the hunters that returned. There was no way they’d not know what happened. Truth be told, the huntress probably still wouldn’t have believed it though, it was the look in Stanvir’s eyes that convinced her more than the words.
The others seemed to gather around the lamenting huntress, though she was too steeped in her misery to even notice their approach. Only when she felt contact did she respond in any way. Selunae draped the cape around her and snuggled into Kyra’s embrace, continuing to silently cry but no longer completely distraught. As she gradually calmed, she remained huddled up with the novice, shivering under Ito’s cape. Alphonz had arrived as well, and aside from his strained effort, no one but her seemed to be making any noise. It was actually spooky. Oh, right, Ito had asked her what had happened. She’d barely noticed at the time, but everyone seemed to be waiting for her to talk, or for her to get up to move on. At least one of these was true if not both.
Just because she knew what her companions were waiting in anticipation of didn’t mean she would give it to them. She didn’t really want to go anywhere anymore, and she wasn’t entirely sure how to put into words what she had just learned. To tell them what Stanvir said would be to admit to Kyra that she’d fought and killed her friend for nothing. Selunae would rather have died rescuing Kyra from the wolf than admit the grim reality that they’d blundered into. No matter the angle, there wasn’t any way she could do that. Feeling a sudden need for distance from the novice, the young archer stood and took a few strides away with a downcast gaze.“We.. uh.. I.. was too late. They’re.. the hunters are dead..” The huntress’s tears returned, more from regretful guilt of lying to her friends than from anything else. It wasn’t really a lie though, was it? They were dead to her, even if they still did live and breathe. If she encountered them again, she’d have to fight them. Stanvir had not left any room for doubt there.
“I.. I don’t wanna stay here. I don’t.. know what to do anymore, where I want to go.. but I don’t wanna be anywhere near this place..”

Everybody had surrounded Lunie to try and comfort her. Something truly terrible must've happened if she was acting like this. Normally, she would've at least talked to one of the two, Alphonz knew that almost for sure even if it had only been a day since he knew them. It took a few moments for her to actually reply to Ito's question. Quickly getting up, she seemed to move away from Kyra before explaining what had happened. All of the hunters had died. Strangely, Alphonz didn't feel as if she was telling the entire truth. Come on man, she's probably been through enough. Now's not the time to try and pick away at every word she says. Just bring her back and it'll be all over.
As she sarted to ramble on about not knowing what to do, Alphonz decided to speak up. "Well, we found you and you're safe. So the only thing that's left is for all of us to leave, now... he started taking deep breaths since even talking long sentences was making him dizzy. "The horses can't be too far away..." Feeling the adrenaline wear off now that he had found Lunie, his body felt even more sluggish, like he was about to fall down at any moment. Turning around, he slowly started walking back where they had came from, not even waiting for them. They'll take care of helping her walk back... I have to go back to my horse before I lose all of my strengths...
Slowly trudging along the path, his vision quickly started getting worse. His arms were going numb as his spear fell in front of him. Staying conscious only with determination, he didn't really have any more common sense as he tried to pick up his weapon. Sadly, simply putting his body weight forward made him fall head first in the dirt, his eyes only halfway open as he was desperatly trying to stay conscious.

Hm. I feel like there's more to that, but... no, I won't pressure her now. She probably just needs some space, right? At least she's using the cape. Ito looked back and forth between Lunie, Kyra, and Alphonz, gauging each of their expressions as he listened to what they had to say, should they have spoken. Alphonz wasn't doing well, not well at all. As he finished speaking, Ito responded to Selunae. "I'm sorry, Lunie, about the hunters. I know it isn't easy to lose what seems like family to you. Let's get you home, or at least out of here." Ito turned his head slightly and saw Alphonz fall to the ground, and finished speaking as he moved to help Alphonz stand. "If you don't want to stay in Bern, you could accompany me back to Lycia. I've some... unfinished business back home in Caelin, if you want to tag along."
-----------------------------------
Stanvir was nervous. What was he to do about Lunie showing up? He was glad he had convinced her to leave, she was too sweet a girl to fall into the company of the bandits at Bonerock. How had she found them, anyways? A myriad of questions similar to this permeated his mind, as he paced back and forth while continuing his patrol and search for food. He'd heard other voices, though they were hard to make out through the brazen sound of her wailing. He feared that his conversation, though brief, would provoke the curiosity of his nearby banditos.
"Oi! Stanvir!" It would seem his suspicions were well-founded, as a fellow brigand approached him from behind, sword and buckler at the ready. "Hoo ewe tolkien to? I 'erd yer voice'uhs raised; ewe wusnd tolkien tew yerself, wus yeh?" Stanvir sighed, turning to face his two-teethed compatriot. "No, I wasn't talking to myself. It was nothing, though. Go back to your post Bucky."
"Eet sher din'd souwn like nuthun tuh me. Eh! Cabby! Archie! Geed ober 'ere! Ol' Stanvir 'as sum 'untin fur us!" As Bucky finished his call, a cavalier and archer shortly came to stand by the other two. Stanvir shook his head as Bucky then pointed to the thicket between there and the road. "Flush 'em out. Stanvir 'ere sez thers some 'Nuthun' oud dere dat ee wus chattin' wif. Skee-atter, an' find et. I wannit alibe, tho. It'll be moar fun tuh play wif." Cabby and Archie, obedient to their friend, began to trudge forward through the brush rather loudly, to flush out whatever was there.
-----------------------------------
Ito, after helping Alphonz get to his feet and propped up on his lance, quickly turned around and faced the direction he and Lunie had come. "Oh no. Lunie...? How... how did you find out the hunters were dead...?"

This night just kept getting worse and worse. And to think, just earlier in the same day, Kyra and Lunie had been giggling with each other, eating candy and petting small animals. Now, their day had warped into a horrid nightmare that Kyra never wanted to return to. She was practically shaken at Lunie's news that the hunters were all dead. They had come all this way for nothing... Now they had even more reason to hurry back home. "I-I'm so sorry, Lunie..." Kyra honestly had very few words now to console her friend, with her outlook growing more grim by the minute, she her face becoming shockingly devoid of any emotion as she struggled to come to terms with what was going on here. Turning to Ito, she said, "Ito, I know you're curious about what happened, but Lunie is right. We really need to get moving before we're spotted by anyone. I say we travel in pairs, unless anyone is opposed to that, just so that it's a bit less likely we'll be spotted."
Using her good arm, she took Lunie's wrist, starting to half run back in the direction of Lucerne, nearly oblivious to any protest Alphonz or Ito may have had. She cared about nothing more than simply getting home now. "Come on Lunie... We'll be back in Lucerne soon... We can go back to my house, and sleep in comfy beds, and not have to worry about this anymore... Doesn't that sound nice?" Kyra was saying these things aloud, less to comfort her friend, but more just to comfort herself, though she would be satisfied if it helped Lunie as well.
I don't wanna die... I don't wanna die... I'm too young... I haven't even lived up to father's expectations yet. He'd be so disappointed in me... I need to get home so that I can heal... My arm isn't gonna get any better otherwise...

As the huntress had thought things over more, she slowly began to draw a connection to the ambush and Devon anxiously spurring the group to make the move quickly without waiting for help. She hadn’t really thought of it that way earlier. It really wasn’t her fault at all. It was Devon’s. He’d convinced them that they couldn’t afford to wait. That ratty little bastard had tried to stack the odds in his favor by trying to lead the two girls off alone. They wouldn’t have stood a chance. Here she was, beating herself up over his death when it was all his plan to begin with. She’d wanted to bring a lot more than this small group but it was all his fault that things had turned out this way. Selunae rubbed the tears from her eyes, wincing as dirt on her hands scrubbed into her cheeks. Alphonz was right, the time to leave was ripe. There was no point in lingering. If there were anymore tears for her to cry, she could shed them elsewhere, somewhere that wouldn’t endanger her friends. She tried to fake a smile for Alphonz, but the result wasn’t anything recognizable of the sort. “I’m sorry you went and got hurt ‘cuz of me. Now yer armor’s all busted up too and I don’t even have the money to help ya get it fixed. Just.. hold on, though. I’ll.. m-make sure ya get through this Alphonz.” The huntress gave Alphonz a half-hug, staying well clear of his wound, and topped it off with a small kiss on his cheek for his foolish bravery of following her all the way out here. Alphonz focused all his energy into pushing himself onward, which, as pale as his face had seemed in the dim light, was a relief to the huntress until she saw him stumble and drop his glaive. “Alphonz..?” Selunae inhaled a sharp gasp as the young knight crumpled forward into the dirt when he tried to retrieve the fallen polearm. “Ito! We gotta get him onto a horse! Can you carry him?” Her face was the very picture of worry, she wasn’t sure of the extent of his injuries. Maybe the vulnerary wouldn’t be enough to save him. There was no time to ponder on Ito’s offer now. To leave Bern altogether would be rash, even for her. There would be time to think about that later. “Go with you.. to Lycia? This is prolly not the time to worry ‘bout stuff like that. I gotta make sure my friends make it home.” Selunae suppressed her returning tears with a sniffle and rubbed her eyes again. Her entire existence had been thrust into chaos. It would be easy to just ride out of Bern on a white horse and pretend none of this ever happened. Start a new life in another land. Be someone else’s hero. No, this land was her home, and would always be her home. Even if everyone she ever loved turned their backs on her, Bern would always be her home. She couldn’t allow herself to even doubt that. |Music|As the sounds of bandits turned into a ruckus in the direction Selunae had approached from, the girl’s heart had dropped like a stone in her chest. Had Stanvir changed his mind about letting her go? It was then that Ito asked the one question she hadn’t counted on: ‘How did she know?’ Her immediate reaction was clearly of nervousness from having no answer to that question. Luckily she was bailed out by Kyra before her speechlessness could tip Ito off that she had fabricated their deaths. Selunae was deeply ingratiated for the interruption. “Y-yeah.. we gotta get moving!” Unfortunately though, Kyra making a break for it was exactly what the bandits were counting on as they closed in. The sound of hoof falls reached the foursome, sending a sense of urgency – one of them was on a horse. Selunae didn’t like the idea of splitting up, not when only two of them was in any condition to fight and of the two, only one really stood a chance in combat. She’d have preferred for Alphonz and Kyra to have escaped together and for her and Ito to hold the bandits off. That didn’t happen at all though. With Alphonz in such poor condition, she didn’t think Kyra would even be able to get him out of here now. This was probably the safer bet. The thundering hooves grew louder as the bandit cavalier drew ever closer to the fleeing girls. “That sounds great.. we just have to get away from here alive, somehow..” Selunae glanced over her shoulder, feeling a sharp tug as the effort caused her speed to drop noticeably below that of the novice holding her wrist. The horseman had truly singled them out though, no doubt about it. The two girls were in his path, and it seemed his aim was to trample them with that horse of his. “Kyra! Watch out!” The huntress pulled her hand free and used it to grab the swordswoman under her injured arm and took a dive. Selunae landed poorly and rolled a couple of times before stopping prone near her friend. The cavalier swung a wide blow with his lance in an attempt to catch one of them with the shaft but they’d both narrowly avoided it. He slowed to bring his horse about to make a second pass as the young archer struggled to get herself and the novice back to their feet. She’d completely lost sight of Ito and Alphonz. Were they safe? There was no way she could go back to check now. After a quick breather, she took Kyra’s left hand in her right hand and tried to take advantage of the cavalier’s failure, sprinting toward where she remembered leaving Starchaser.

Feeling that he was being helped up, Alphonz a bit more energy coursing through his body as he grabbed his spear to prop himself. Looking at the man with sleepy eyes, he tried to muster his lips to at least thank him: "Thanks... I'll try to keep up with you..." Apparently, they were going to separate into groups of two. Ito would be the one with Alphonz while the girls would be on their own. As long as we can get away quickly... He remembered hearing Ito ask Lunie how she knew that the hunters were which would have also made Alphonz be curious, however his overall physical state made iy almost impossible to think about anything else than walking.
"I'm sorry but I don't think I'll be of much use in a fight... I'll at least try to not get in your way." Starting to walk towards where he had left the horse, he could feel a bit more conscient than earlier, probably the sound of hooves which were giving him another adrenaline shot all things considered. If I survive I am going to need a LOT of rest after this is all done... I mean, why did Father even accept sending me here? Was it supposed to teach me a lesson to not go ahead of my fellow brothers-in-arms? Because if so, I think I damn well learned my lesson Father... The Silver Vanguard would've done quick work of these people too. I bet only three of them could've taken them down with efficient tactics... Man, guess I really still green in all of this. All of the military knowledge in the world doesn't beat military experience it seems...
"Ugh, alright, we can't let them go too far ahead." he said, picking up speed as he started walking towards Lucerne.

As the noises of the bandits grew increasingly louder, Ito quickly stepped back to the group as they decided they needed to hurry up and leave. Before he could mention anything about waiting under cover for the bandits to pass, to avoid being flushed into the open, half of the group was flushed out. "No, don't split up! We'll do better together-!" The bandits' cavalier was upon the two girls, and Ito began to worry as the rider circled for a second attack. Alphonz was absentmindedly walking away, and Ito assumed the boy was completely oblivious to the situation. He had been forced by fate, it seemed, into being limited to saving only Alphonz. He hoped the girls would be able to take care of themselves.
Running at the boy, Ito ducked mid stride and scooped up Alphonz over his left shoulder, and began carrying the knight in training back towards the horses. There was still quite a bit of ground to cover, however, which didn't make things any better for him.
-----------------------------------
Archie had gone from the noisiest pace he could imagine to the quiet, stalking pace of any good hunter at the moment Cabby had flushed out some of Stanvir's 'Nuthun'. Such was the average of an archer in the wilderness, both to hunt and avoid being hunted. He could hear more of them as they yelled to each other, however, and while Cabby chased after a pair of little kids, Archie made a quiet break for the deeper-voiced prey. Nocking an arrow to his bow and readying for a draw, Archie crept through the brush as he followed the sounds of his target - a lot of heavy breathing and the sliding of armour against armour.
-----------------------------------
Ito ran as quickly as he could while making an effort to stay somewhat quiet, while toting a half-armoured kid that was the same size as he, along with both of their weapons. Alphonz, due to his injuries, seemed to be rather loopy, but Ito did his best to carry on regardless.
"It's going to be alright, Alph. We'll get out of here alive, and I'll get you and the girls home to Lucerne in one piece. I promise."

Kyra wasn't exactly sure how she and Lunie had managed to dodge out of the way of the charging cavalier, but they had, and that's what mattered. Seeing that he was coming in for another pass, she tugged Lunie in another direction, away from their original path, but hopefully better in the long run. She was bringing them further into the trees nearby, where the gnarled branches were more intertwined, and the trunks of the old trees grew thicker. If the cavalier hoped to chase them down, he'd have to do it on foot. It'd take them longer to get through this area, but hopefully they wouldn't find anymore trouble through here, beyond some scrapes and bruises from hitting branches in the dark, but that wouldn't be as bad as their earlier wounds.
Just as Kyra was about to start making a run for the lighter part of the woods, she ducked down behind a few bushes, taking Lunie with her. Whispering, she said, "Try not to move. I think I hear footsteps coming closer..." Sure enough, it seemed one of the bandits had in fact pursued them to at least their general area, though they were still searching for the pair. Though she'd never gotten a super good look at him, Kyra guessed this was in fact the cavalier, dismounted for his horse to account for the thick foliage. Maybe if we wait for him to get closer, we could sneak up and have the upper hand... Or.. sigh... probably best to just let him pass by unless he gets too close on his own. Gods, I hope Alphonz and Ito are doing better...

It seemed like a bad idea, all this running. The fear intensified as the cavalier made a second charge. There was no way the huntress could keep up this dodging routine with her weakened friend. It took more stamina to accommodate the novice and even if Kyra wasn’t in the equation, it would still be her stamina versus the horse. As Selunae tried to read the movements of ‘Cabby’ she found herself dragged in a new direction, the wrong direction even. Seemed that Kyra was still in action so to speak, but at first the young archer was confused by the path she chose. Watching the cavalier instead of looking where she was being guided, she was surprised to see the horseman break away, and slow his mount to a trot.
It was clear though when the huntress turned her gaze ahead, what Kyra had in mind. A tangled growth of twisting trees with low branches would deter but the most bullheaded of steeds, and would severely wound the ones foolish enough to try. She hadn’t even noticed it in the panic or she’d have made an attempt to reach it herself earlier. Navigating it wouldn’t be pleasant. Nothing about this evening was, though. The huntress felt as if she needed to curl up and cry for a week in her bed, but as things stood it was going to take a lot of luck just to not die here. Accentuating the fact that this was certainly difficult to traverse, a sudden whimper was heard as the girl smacked her forehead on a tree. Thankfully it was not hard enough to disorient her, or worse – knock her unconscious. It did however leave a small scrape with a tiny amount of blood. Just as quickly as she’d been yanked along into the trees, they had stopped again to conceal themselves. Seemed like a bad idea with the approaching footprints, since they hadn’t really gotten far enough away to actually hide. For some reason though, the approaching man halted his advance well before he came close to where the girls had hid. Panic quickly set in when it was discovered why.
“Oi, Buckah! Luks lahk we gahts a cuppa del’ket flahrs aht hehr in tha thick’it, ey?” Why’s dunt we mehks witta tarch an’ giv’m a li’l farr ta smuk ‘em ahtta thehr?” Selunae’s heart began trying to leap out of her chest. She was pretty sure the word fire was just mentioned. If they waited this one out there was no way it would end well. With the cavalier indeed dismounted, they might have a chance to to reach the horses. They’d certainly have a head start if he went back for his.
“Oh gods.. we gotta get outta here Kyra. He’s gonna set it all on fire. We gotta run for it. I’ll try to slow him down while ya go after the horses. I’m countin’ on ya, now run!” Selunae didn’t give Kyra a chance to object – she set herself to her own task of being the diversion, knowing if she could buy enough time for the novice to retrieve even one of the horses then they’d stand a much better chance of getting away. The longer this went on, the worse the odds became though. There wasn’t any more room for hesitation.
“C’mon, stupid, come ‘n get me! I’ve already taken out a few of yer buddies so ya better back off before ya get what’s comin’ to ya!” To the huntress’s credit, she didn’t sputter or stutter in her delivery and was almost intimidating, had she not been so young.
“Oi! Why’s duncha jes’ gitcha’sef aht hehr an’ mehkit eezeh ahn yessef. We’ll be gentull Ah prawmiss.” Cabby topped his response off with a sinister, guttural laugh that bespoke of his misgivings and of his intent to be anything but gentle. Well, so be it. The bandits certainly had the advantage here. While the bandits were likely outnumbered, the ones involved here at least, they were not outclassed and in a straight fight would readily win. Even so, the bandits had already resorted to underhanded tactics and Selunae hoped she could indeed back her words up with arrows. Her life depended on it.

Alphonz was relieved that Ito went to help him walk. He personally didn't want to show it, but there was almost no chance he could go back to Lucerne on his own in his condition. Trying to keep up with him since he didn't want to be the reason that the bandits would catch up, he used almost all of his concentration on keeping his legs moving and breathng regularly.
"Thank you Ito... *Cough* Guess I'm still too weak to protect them by myself... Let's get out of here..." after saying those words, he fell into a half inconscious state where he still moved but his brain was almost asleep.
Ugh, is this the kind of danger I'm going to run into if I continue training to become the next leader of the Silver Vanguard? I know I trained for it my whole life, but keeping up the "duty to protect and serve" definitely becomes harder when you're down a pint of blood. Though I probably shouldn't let one bad experience stop me. I made a big mistake by thinking I could do this, but at least now I know not to ever try something like this ever again. You knew this was gonna happen, right Father? Sometimes I wish you'd be more of a dad, less focusing on trying to make me into your perfect soldier, even though I understand why you do it...
Feeling his whole body weighing as much as lead, he painfully kept up the pace, knowing that stopping now would mean definite death if the hunters got to them. No way he was going to be able to fight and Ito was only one person...
I wish I could just sleep right now... Is this what the other guys go through when in their missions?

Seeing the cavalier dismounted and heading towards the herself and Lunie was not something that Kyra had expected. Then again, her plan to run into the denser part of the woods was thought up in a split second decision that may have made the difference between having a chance to escape, and dying right then and there. Kyra's attention was brought to Lunie when she told her, very commanding and serious, to run. Lunie wanted her to go and get to the horses while she stayed back to distract the dismounted cavalier. L-Lunie, I can't... I don't wanna leave you here... Kyra wrestled with her own thoughts for a moment, the words she was thinking never meeting the air between the two girls. Kyra knew this was likely the only option left. She just hoped Lunie knew what she was doing.
Luckily for Kyra, it wasn't too hard to get back to where they and the horses had been, as she had pretty much guided Lunie in a straight line the whole way. Exhausted from panicked running, Kyra took a breath for a moment before exiting the thicket, making sure to look around for the other bandit that had been nearby when the cavalier showed up. She didn't see him in the immediate area, nor Ito and Alphonz. I hope the two of them are faring better than Lunie and I. Maybe they're even already on their way back to Lucerne. Well, I'm glad the horses are still here. The issue that Kyra now realized was that she had no clue on how to guide Lunie's horse back to her while also riding on her own horse.
Hmm, we might be able to both fit on a song let horse. Lemme see if her horse cooperates with me. I know she'd hate to have to leave her behind, what with how close she is to her. Moving over to Starchaser, she slowly brought her hand up to her mane, brushing her gently to keep him calm as she went around to get onto the saddle. "Alright, Starchaser, time to go see if we can find your rider..."

As the huntress silently became more nervous, she finally heard the novice make her move. That was one less worry. She’d really hoped to avoid combat and with the way things had gone here, it really seemed pointless to get caught up in any real fighting. Knowing this, she nocked an arrow to her bow her tiresomely tugged back on the string. Her muscles didn’t much appreciate the effort after her exertions throughout the day, but she knew what the stakes were.
“Ey, whar’s yeh li’l frand skit’rin off ta? Yeh rilleh thunks tha lahks o’ yeh skerrs meh? Ah’ll gitcha gud ‘n git ahfta yeh frand naxt!” As before, Cabby’s punctuation came in the form of a disgusting laugh that tested Selunae’s resolve. Gods help her if he actually got his hands on her.
It was a difficult task, fighting in the dark like this. It was especially true when it came to archery, but the huntress had chosen this path and it was too late to not walk it. For all she knew, her actions could save or kill the entire group, herself included. It was a heavy load to bear and one that had to be borne by someone. If not her, then who? The weight of each of her friends’ lives on her shoulders, the huntress inhaled deep and slowly exhaled, releasing the painful grip on the bowstring. The deadly arrow whizzed through the air at the approaching cavalier, the tension making everything seem to move slower for that brief moment. Missed. The arrow sailed over Cabby’s head, not missing by that much. It was enough to make him flinch, but a missed shot was still a missed shot.
“That is the only warning shot ya get! There’ll be an arrow in your neck if ya don’t back off! ‘Ah prawmiss’.” With the tension escalating as it was, Selunae’s bluff seemed to at least give the bandit uncertainty, especially when she added the insult to his dialect onto the end. His inability to decide whether or not she missed intentionally did give her enough time to ready another arrow, which sealed the deal. He wasn’t taking the risk of her being as good a shot as she claimed, not with the option of his horse still floating around. It would be nothing to run her down then. As Cabby turned to retreat, the inexperienced huntress made the mistake of relaxing her grip on the bow. She’d not considered that he might go back for his horse now that both she and Kyra were out in the open. That soul-rending dread filled her the moment she heard the whinnying of his horse.
Before she could even retreat back into the wooded copse, the light of a torch suddenly flared into view, illuminating a hideous man in a patchwork of metal and leather armed with a ragged sword and a gouged wooden shield. It hadn’t been a bluff, they really were planning to burn it down to keep her out in the open. How many of these guys were out here anyway? She couldn’t take on the blasted cavalier alone, mounted, and now this other man was joining him. Gods.. please hurry, Kyra. This was going to be over very quickly.

Hearing voices around them, Alphonz wondered if Lunie and Kyra were safe... Maybe WE are the lucky ones here... But sadly, his body was in too bad a condition to even attempt to help them. Honestly, even if it hurt hi mto admit it, he had to escape. That way, there'd be one less one incapacited person to take care of on the battlefield. During a fight, you either abandon or rescue the wounded, but you sure as hell don't make them fight when they're already on the verge of being dead themselves.
Finally, the horses came into view. Alphonz removed himself from Ito's shoulder as he slowly walked towards his horse. Looking back at the myrmidon, he said: "I'll be fine from here on out, you do what you need to do. And again, thank you for saving me. I won't forget the favor I owe you." As he mounted on his horse with great struggle, he finally felt as though he was going to make it. However, he noticed something strange... "Lunie's horse... Where is it?" Looking around he shaked his head, realising he was much too weak right now to try and find them. Turning around towards Lucerne, he gritted his teeth in anger. Dammit! This is the last time I'll let myself be defeated so easily. The Montlaur name will no longer be tarnished.
Kicking his horse, he started quickly galloping out of the battlefield. I'm sorry everyone... I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to help you guys more... Please, just make it out of here alive. I don't think I'd be able to live with myself otherwise...

Something's not right. As he sent Alphonz off, Ito noticed Lunie's horse was gone. That thing was like, her treasure, and if it had wandered off... Ito was not sure at all if she would recover emotionally, should that horse not be found if they made it out of this alive. This was part of the reason why he never rode a horse near a battlefield. In fact, he never rode horses around. Ever, now that he thought about it. Huh.
As he looked back to where he came from, an orange glow appeared, and voices were raised in that direction. Well, that doesn't seem good. At all. Ito began to make his way to the scene, hurrying as well as he could. He had plenty of energy for now, having not entered combat a single time today. Yesterday he'd... oh no. He'd forgotten about his Arena matches later in the week! He should be drilling and resting, not risking his life! Ito charged through the thicket, and as he came closer to the glow he saw two things. One, a very menacing looking cavalier, mostly because he was trained in horseback combat and was mounted while Ito wasn't, and two, a brigand approaching a drier patch of trees with a large torch, which trees Ito guessed the bandit wished to set ablaze. Sprinting towards the scene, Ito was suddenly cut off in his dash to attempting heroism, an arrow flying by and just missing him. Sliding to a stop, Ito drew his sword and looked around, trying to determine the location the archer that fired at him.
-----------------------------------
Archie gritted his teeth. Her cerd Ehr herve merssed?? Her wers raht thar! The bandit archer had been following the swordsman since he and Cabby had split up, and now he was to keep the myrmidon distracted until Bucky and Cabby could come and overwhelm the swordsman. As he sat still in the brush while Ito glanced around, Archie remembered hearing rumours of a blonde swordsman that had killed some of Vargas Thragg's men. Of those men that were killed, Archie had two brothers. While the swordsman readied himself for any other attacks, Archie realized something - this must be that swordsman! Enraged, he nocked another arrow to his bowstring and drew it back, aiming carefully at the blonde Lycian.
