Her match in the Arena ended with a win for her opponent. Thus eliminating her from the round. She was happy to have participated regardless of the win or loss. And she did like the consolation prize they pooled together. The wyvern and rider finished watching the rest of the day’s a match before leaving the arena and making their way back home. Back to the family ranch to rest and recuperate. Upon her arrival, the young blue haired rider was assailed by her nieces and nephews. The gaggle of children tackled her and the young rider did everything in her power to try and keep herself upright as the children each hung off her limbs. The group of them were all of varying ages with the eldest being a young boy of fifteen and the youngest being a six-year-old. There were eight altogether. Three of which all had the familiar sky blue hair of the family. One was blonde. One had brown hair. There was one boy with black hair, two twin boys who also had black hair.
After they had finished their assault on Aria they then went ahead and glomped Chewy in much the same fashion. Except for Chewy, was able to take on a gaggle of happy children without falling down. As a matter of fact, the brick colored wyvern lowered her head so that the children could climb up on her head and body. The eldest nephew helped Aria off the ground as his little sister went out to call the others out of the house. Aria’s immediate family stepped out to greet them. Her mother Grace, father Willis, eldest brother Emmitt, second eldest Fredd, and third eldest Quinn. She noticed that one brother was missing and that was just fine. She knew that brother had other obligations to the church and being a brother of the cloth than one of the family. She smiled and waved before embracing each of them in a hug. Emmitt and Fred were quick to get their children off of Chewy. Even though they knew that the red wyvern wouldn’t do anything to hurt them, they still needed to be cautious.
“Full house today huh?”
“Sorry hun. No room this time. We’ll have the kids prep the barn.” A woman spoke. A young woman whom was round with her next child, Aria knew her as Fred’s wife. Emmitt’s wife passed many years ago due to illness. And Quinn’s wife was back home with two other children in the ranch down the road.
“Ooh Suzie how much longer you have?” Aria quietly rushed over towards the expectant mother and rubbed her belly.
“Bout another month. And it’s good to see you too Aria.”
“Sorry, I forget you don’t like me barging in like that.” Aria spoke as she got up and scratched the back of her head. Suzie was about two years younger then Aria and she was already a veteran mother. She was the mother of the two twin boys and was hoping for a little girl with this third one. Suzie wore plain clothes and had her black hair tied up in a high ponytail.
“Now, Aria. We heard you had an arena match? How was it?” Willis inquired, as he oh so carefully examined his daughter for any sort of injuries.
“I lost. To a girl with a sword who could apparently fly.” She shrugged. The children immediately looked up at Aria.
“She could fly!?” The youngest of the kids exclaimed all at once.
“More like she could jump good. It caught me and Chew by surprise. Got a consolation prize though. But, I’m going to stick around here for a few weeks. Figure I should pull my weight around here. Uh.. Am I too late for dinner?”
“Oh? Oh no of course not love. Here we’ll add a little more water to the soup. And put in another potato. Emmitt go and get Chewy settled.” Grace spoke as she slowly shoved Aria into the living room and helped her out of her armor.
“Ma, I can do it myself!” Aria argued.

That night Aria shared a meal with her family for the first time in months. She was last here during for the wyvern day festival and left shortly afterward. The rider shared with them the stories of her adventures so far. How she met Liam, they rider was careful with her words so as not to reveal the man’s true nature. Though the family knew who he was in the sense that he was the man with the baby wyvern. And not much else. Aria then explained how she helped stopped a bunch of bandits, saw the rise of the new Bernese government, and the details of the arena fights. She was especially popular with the children as they loved to hear her stories. Her brothers then told her of their adventures.
Emmit was a lieutenant in the reformed army. He approached Aria with an offer to enlist. Which was probably like the hundredth time he had asked her that question. And Aria refused for the moment. She just wasn’t comfortable throwing Chewy out into the fray on a captain’s orders. Regardless of what sort of job security the army brought with it. Emmitt’s two boys, the fifteen and thirteen-year-old sat on opposite sides of him. They were both aspiring to be wyvern knights like their father. And their little sister, the six-year-old, sat on the lap of the older brother. The little girl was gleefully playing around with the wooden utensils that had been left in her reach.
Quinn then spoke of his home life down the road. Quinn was the brother who left wyvern ranching to become a general farmer. He was much better at taming horses and regular farm animals then he was at wyverns. And his life was a quiet one for it. The two children he brought with him, shared amusing stories about him getting chased by the chickens and roosters.
Out of the five children, Grace and Willis had Fredd was the only one to remain at home. He and his children were the ones who stayed on the ranch. Helping their parents run the ranch with a few other workers who had retired to their homes for the night. Fredd had three children altogether. With one more on the way. The twins that he had with his current wife, and one that was born from another woman. Fredd doesn’t talk much about her only that she had passed away during childbirth. And many of the family question if that child was even Fredd’s child at all. Regardless of that, Fredd still saw her third son as his own child. And that was all that the family needed to welcome him into their home.
With dinner over with. It was time to prepare for bed. The evening chores still needed to be done. The wyverns needed to be accounted for. And Aria needed to prep her sleeping area for the night. The rider went out onto the ranch with a lantern, Chewy followed right behind her. They approached their familiar barn. It was mostly used to store hay and a few supplies. Aria climbed up the ladder to the second floor of the barn where there was a tiny living area nestled behind a few hay walls. A bed with a small table alongside it. There was also a coat rack as well as a bucket located at the far corner. A pitcher of water was on the table. Aria sighed softly. The bed was one she was familiar with. And she was glad to see that there were clean blankets laid out before her. The rider quietly unpacked her things. Changed into her night clothes and tried to make herself comfortable. She could hear Chewy downstairs making a small nest for herself out of the dried hay. Before she circled around the nest three times before plopping her huge self on it.
“Night Chewy!” Aria spoke. The wyvern gave a grunt in response. The rider quietly blew out the light of the lantern and went to sleep. Come morning she’d have to be up before dawn to help with the chores of the ranch.
