Name: Delthia Hargreaves
Class: Seraph Knight
Dragon Element:
Age: 29
Born in: Ilia
Appearance:
Standing in at 6 feet tall, Delthia is definitely an extremely tall woman. This, of course, fits with her strong yet slim build, perfect for a pegasus rider
. She has very well defined muscles, showing her years of training. While her face looks quite clean and normal, the rest of her body bears quite a couple of scars scattered everywhere either originating from battles or accidents from pegasus riding. Naturally blond, she prefers to dye her hair, as it creates a more imposing presence in a crowd and in conversations. Same reasoning for her colorful lipstick.
Being a pegasus rider, her armor leans more on the mobile side than on the actually defensive side. While yes, her suit has a steel breastplate and a singular shoulder guard, the rest of her armor is mostly comprised of studded leather and other light fabrics. She also has metal guards on her thighs, protecting major arteries and preventing possibly crippling injuries. The purple and golden coloring of her armor matches the one of her pegasus, once again, playing into the imposing presence she tries to set herself to have.
Personality: If life’s thought her one thing, it’s that looking out for number one is the way to go. Delthia could be classified as a textbook version of an egoist. While not an egocentric, something quite different, she very well still values her needs and desires over others. Never will she do something which will bring her loss. Being extremely calculating, everything situation in her life is handled with the same question: “How can I gain something out of this?”. To give an example, she would save orphans from a burning building, but only if such an action would bring her rewards, fame and also have relatively low risks or at least equivalent to the rewards she will gain. She has now qualms about breaking, nor following the law, for it is merely a tool which can possibly bring her profit. Any moment where she can be seen caring for another is usually only done for the simple fact that that person will bring her gain in the future. However, she still is loyal to certain people, as she is not a complete sociopath. Having “real” human connections is important, no?
Not only does she look out only for herself, she acts this way for one simple goal, to become more powerful. Any kind of strength: physical, monetary or even political is something she yearns for. This desire for self improvement and power is ingrained deeply in both her subconscious and conscious mind. For her, weakness of any kind should be destroyed as only the strong deserve to live. The power she seeks is not meant to be used for any specific goal, or at least not yet. Her goal is so self-centered, it’s only purpose is for her own sake, she does not directly wishes to rule over others, but would if ruling over them would make her more powerful. Unlike many others who would want power to be able to rule, she would rather rule in the goal of power.
In social situations, Delthia shows great charisma and eloquence, expert at controlling and showing emotions to her need. Having a knack for leadership, she is able to pull people in her group, usually able to make them want the same goal as her… may that goal be real or a simple lie. She is also an expert at deception, being able to twist people around her fingers, that is if they are weak enough to be controlled in such a way. No technique is considered too low for her. Lying, seduction, blackmail, death threats… She is willing to use any tool at her disposal to get her way, even if the result demands for her to sacrifice an ally (an ally who is both dispensable and not cared for enough for his loss to still be profitable at the end of the day). Those social skills mixed with her ruthlessness make for an incredibly dangerous woman.
History: Being the youngest daughter in her family, Delthia looked up to her two older sisters, Audrey and Sam quite a bit during her childhood. She would worry so much whenever either one of them would have to leave for another mission. The two sisters were pegasus knights in the military and the stars of their village, loved by everyone. Being a couple of years younger, Delthia was much too young to join them on their missions. Not only that, but the poor girl had a very sickly body with poor constitution and a lack of stamina. Her parents were quite worried about her health throughout all of her childhood.
The first time she tried to tame a pegasus, the beast simply threw her to the side, resulting in a couple of bruises on her little body. At this rate, she thought she would never be as strong as her sisters. From the ages of 11 to 13, she fell into depression over her own weakness when compared to her sisters. She knew every techniques there was in her sisters’ warfare books, but it was almost impossible for her to put any of it into practice.
Sadly, one day tragedy struck as only Sam, the eldest daughter, came back. The other one had sadly been shot down by archers during a night raid, her body was never found afterwards. For days, the entire village grieved Audrey’s death. People kept giving their condolences to Delthia. After a certain point, the girl couldn’t take it anymore. The looks… Pity… She hated it! Not only that, but Sam was no longer performing like she used to. Having lost her partner in battle made her much less efficient, finally draining her will to fight as a pegasus knight. Seeing the despair her sister was in, Delthia tried to bring back her passion somewhat by trying one last time was she had always wished she could have done, becoming a pegasus. Begging her sister to train her, she finally gave in after a few days. The training was extremely difficult at first, but something quite surprising actually happened. Almost as if she was driven by determination, her body entered a massive growth spurt, giving her the amazonian body she now has. Slowly, she started progressing at an alarming rate, even being able to tame one of the wildest pegasus of their region. A dark grey male pegasus that Delthia named “Aquilon”, a wild beast that she had finally tamed after weeks of tracking. While people told it wasn’t worth it, she had kept at it for a simple reason: he was the strongest she knew of. It was strange, slowly Delthia started to become more and more attracted to the concept of power. Maybe it was the fact she quickly became a lot stronger at the end of her puberty and started to like her new body, but one thing was for sure, she wanted more. To keep growing stronger, to always reach new heights. This is what started to shape her beliefs in most situations.
When her training was completed, Delthia left her home, ready to join the army, hoping to become a high ranking officer and continue to fulfill her dream for power. The first few years were going pretty well., most of her missions were to protect villages from random bandit attacks and other petty conflicts. The job wasn’t glamorous, but it did pay and the bills. Although, despite the fact she was training and becoming more and more proficient in combat, she felt trapped by the fact she continued to stay a basic soldier, only gaining fame in her inner circle of battle sisters. Speaking of her partners, she befriended two of them. Josephine and Eleanor, both excellent riders with similarly more selfish goals and ideals, but still with distinct differences making them a great trio. Though it was obvious that none of them had the sense of duty the other knights had for their country, they had simply ended up in the military life instead of mercenary work. Their lances quickly became not only weapons, but shields for each other as they all gained a sense of loyalty in between them.
Becoming the sergeant of a small force of fliers as she hit 25 years old, her life finally started to take an up turn as she started to see the possibility of raising even higher in the army. Luckily enough, neither of her sisters-in-arms had perished during those years and their fighting style had been perfected to work in tandem. They also had all chosen a different weapon of predilection. While lances were still used by all of them, especially Eleanor which had almost solely used them, Josephine became proficient in swords quite quickly while Delthia became a fan of the power of the axe. She thanked her powerful body to be able to properly use such cumbersome weapons in the first place compared to other more frail riders. There was also probably some kind of aesthetic that drove the women to use different weapons, but they were happy that each of them could provide different skills for any situation. They had even earned the titles of “The Sky Maidens” in their division of the army, unparalleled pegasus riders when teamed up, soaring the skies with grace and defeating their opponents with no mercy. The biggest reason for their title was thanks to one of their greatest achievement where thanks to tactical prowess, they were able to divide and conquer a Bernese force with much lower numbers on their side. Their teamwork during the fight against Bern was what earned them recognition in the army.
However later on in their careers, something came and threw a wrench in the trio’s plans, especially Delthia’s. The Bernese people had decided to rebel against Ilia! Fighting in only a few fights, the girls could see that the war would end badly for them. In a desperate attempt, the trio deserted the army for a few months. They didn’t what to do at first, causing quite a couple of fights in between them on whether or not they had chosen wisely. It was only after Ilia’s defeat that the three of them finally decided to do something grand, something risky but that could bring them what they all wanted, power. They had all decided to create their own bandit band. None of them really cared for Ilia’s well being, so really this was simply another way to reach their goals where their combat skills could be still be used.
Throughout the following years, they lived quite well. Their superior fighting techniques made it easy to target caravans and other wealthy groups and they had quite an easy time to find other people to join them in Ilia. While none of them really stayed for quite a long time, usually leaving when they had made enough money, the three pegasus riders still stayed deeply connected, knowing that sticking together would bring them more fortune than being alone. They had almost became new sisters for Delthia. The three of them now ride throughout Elibe as the Sky Cabal in a quest for power and glory.
