Name: Rommel Henderson Ludvigg
Class: Cavalier
Dragon Element: N/A
Age: 20
Born in: City of Bern, Bern
Appearance: <Refer to Profile Picture>
Rommel stands at 5'10" tall while having a lean build. He has short blonde hair as well as eyes of brown color. Despite being a noble, Rommel opts for a more down-to-earth and rugged outfit as he dresses in a red knee-length jacket, brown pants and brown boots. He also has a grey shoulderpad with gold accents attached to his right shoulder and secured by a brown leather belt.
His steed, Kaiser, has a brown coat and white mane as well as having brown hooves.
Personality: Rommel is quite the stoic and serious person, often a man so cold he could figuratively freeze an entire room. He has little to no sense of humor and doesn't tolerate such things as well. He is rather blunt, as he doesn't like sugarcoating things and prefers if others do the same. It doesn't help that he doesn't like socializing with others and will only speak if talking of important matters and/or talking with/to his superiors.
Rommel, for the most part, dislikes being in the heat of battle and much prefers being in the sidelines either directing the course of the battle or flanking the enemy
with a small team. If asked why so, he'll give two reasons. First, as a horseman his job is to deal significant damage to the enemy and retreat as soon as his job is done; the classic hit and run strategy. Second, as an officer he can provide better tactical support from the sidelines where he can see the bigger picture than on the frontlines.
Rommel has an ambiguous moral compass. On one hand, he isn't a fan of needless death as they are..well, needless. On the other, he isn't afraid of sacrificing something or someone in order to win a victory. He is a man of logic and believes that emotions cloud one's judgement. That, in his opinion, is not a trait an aspiring officer like him should have.
Of course, he wasn't always like this. His current personality is mainly affected by his past, but there is still some form of his childhood left in that cold exterior of his. Perhaps once he learns to move on from his past will he, once again, begin to learn the essence of life.
History: Rommel comes from the Ludvigg family, a rather well-off but not so well-known noble family in Bern. As being an only child, Rommel was sent to the academy to learn skills such as tactics, swordplay, horsemanship, and the like. Although initially bored at first, his interest was sparked when he met a girl named Helen in the academy that rivaled his intellect. They would often compete in various fields, with no clear winner as both would have similar win-to-lose ratios. They both enjoyed each other's company, and Rommel started to enjoy his teenage life. He began to see it was something more than studying, and started to open up more.
However, Life was not so kind to Rommel. The tragedy that led to his cold self started when he, Helen and his instructor went on a trip to a nearby fort. The trip's purpose was simple; to learn more about the innings of the Bern Army. The three rode off towards the fort on their steeds, and rested when night had come. As they set up camp, they were ambushed by bandits hoping to steal their coin. Their instructor, being the coward he was, immediately tried to flee but was promptly shot down by the bandits' archers. Rommel and Helen didn't plan on going down fighting, and so they distracted the bandits long enough to get on their horses and started to fight back. Despite being well-versed in combat, those alone wouldn't be enough to fight off a horde of bandits. When Rommel showed signs of giving up, Helen suddenly roused her horse and charged towards the bandits' leader, knocking the brigand down. This infuriated the horde and, when Helen rode off, they immediately gave chase. Rommel, in his confusion, tried to pursue but was stopped by Helen's smiling face and wave. He bit his lip, but he turned his horse around and galloped away from the vicinity.
After a few moments pass Rommel returned to the battleground, and although at first not seeing anything of importance, noticed a trail of blood towards his north. He followed this trail, and at its end was a dying Helen. He dismounted and cradled Helen in his arms, calling out to her. He was desperate, his tears trickled down his face as he gazed upon Helen's. Helen opened her eyes, and upon seeing Rommel, she could only smile. She extended her hand to Rommel's cheek, and Rommel grasped it in return. She nodded at him, and her eyes closed in an eternal sleep. As raindrops fall to the earth, Rommel could only sit there and cry. And cry he did for some time, before being discovered by a patrol and promptly taken to his original destination.
Although the backlash wasn't directed towards Rommel as he expected, instead being directed towards his instructor for cowardice, he still felt guilt over the whole event. He felt only grief, and this started to affect his performance. After being scolded numerous times for not being what he was, he decided to create a coping mechanism for his sorrow. That coping mechanism, was his cold persona. He developed this persona over the remaining years of his academy life, and he graduated the academy with flying colors. He now is an officer of Bern, hoping to prove his mettle and rise through the ranks whilst swearing that he'll never experience the sorrow that he felt on that fateful day.
NPC fight: As the sun's rays rained down on them with blazing heat, two combatants readied themselves for sparring. On one side stood a soldier readying himself in a defensive position. On the other stood Rommel on his steed, gripping his lance steadily. He wasn't the type to use lances, but if he were to use swords it would put him at a disadvantage in this fight. He decided to wait a few moments to see if the soldier would change his stance. That never came to be, and so Rommel decided to make the first move as he charged the lancer. He aimed his spear at the soldier's chest, hoping to knock the man down. The soldier held his ground, his spear pointing upwards to brace the impact. Rommel knew he couldn't afford having Kaiser take the attack, so moments before the spear meeting the horse's coat he turned his steed towards the side and thrusted his spear at the soldier's chest. In exchange of sparing the horse the lance instead grazed Rommel's side, tearing the fabric off his jacket and making the skin bleed. He bit his lip to avoid any form of screaming, and reared his lance back to attempt a second thrust. As the soldier was too slow to pull his own lance back, Rommel thrusted his lance once again and knocked the soldier to the ground.
PC fight: Rommel charged the axe-wielding brigand, bringing his sword up in his attempt to attack the brigand's axe arm.
