Name: Emily Saff (Alt. of Cardin Redd)
Class: Manakete
Dragon Element: Water
Age: 558
Born in: Plains of Sacae
Appearance: Emily appears as a 15 year old girl when in human form. She has pointed ears, the trademark of Manaketes, as well as a childish face and emerald green eyes. Her hair is dark brown, which she lets hang down, and covers one side of her face. She stands at about 5'3", and normally dresses in a lose-fitting cyan robe.
When transformed, she appears as an Awakening-style Manakete with cyan scales, the same shade as her robe.
Personality: Emily is a very shy and timid girl, and prefers to be alone at most times. Despite her parents being performers and her talent in singing, she has intense stage fright. When spoken to, she has a bit of a shy stutter, and tries to end the conversation as quickly as possible, so that she can be alone once more. She is extremely wary of new concepts, and when someone tries to show her something she's never seen before, be it an object or an action, she will almost literally shake with fear. In a way, she is a coward, but in others she is just a girl who wishes to survive. She adores reading, and is a bit of a scholar. She loves learning about history, especially legends of the time before the Scouring. She prefers to watch things occur rather than get involved. She is extremely terrified of combat, and has been known to break down in tears after a fight. She will not reveal her true heritage to anyone she does not trust with her life. However, she truly hopes that someday Human and Dragon can coexist once more.
History:
Emily was born to a couple of traveling performers, Dawn and James Saff, during their travels in Sacae. James was a talented violinist, and Dawn was a renowned songstress. They traveled the world performing, but made sure not to perform in the same town more than once a century, in order to ensure that their heritage remained hidden. Emily had inherited her mother's voice, but had intense stage fright, so she preferred to practice in private, another result of her shy nature was her obsession with books and reading. Over time, she gathered a small collection of history books and legends of times before the Scouring.
When she was not traveling with her parents, she was being cared for by a dear family friend. A fellow dragonkin, Zack helped raise Emily, and she became very close to him. However, it seemed that her family did not know Zack's true nature. He was easily seduced by the clink of coin, and a mysterious stranger manipulated him into revealing the Saff family's heritage, as well as that of other dragonkin he knew. Rather than paying him, however, Zack's mysterious employer killed him, using the might of a Dragonslayer. This man then tracked down the Saffs over the course of the next year. He decided, however, that it would be better to reveal their existence to the townsfolk, then act as a hero when he slayed them. A devious plot formed in his mind, and he executed it during the time the Saffs were staying for their performances. He murdered a few of the townsfolk, making it appear as though some large beast had killed them rather than a human. Then, during one of their performances, he used an ancient magic to force the two parents into their draconic forms. This, of course, caused a panic, and the man took his blade and slayed them both.
As this occurred, Emily had looked on in absolute horror. Her parents were dead... she was terrified. Who was this man? Why had he done such a horrible thing? She ran away from the carnage and sat in an alleyway, crying all the while. A young woman approached her after a while, and asked her what had happened. Unsure of what to do, Emily revealed that she was a Manakete as she told her tale. The woman, whose name was Grace, pitied her, and took her in. Over the next two years, she helped Emily learn how to blend in better with humans. Eventually, Emily left Grace, deciding it would be best for the both of them if they parted ways. She now wanders the world, using trapping skills Grace had taught her to survive, while she searches for others of her kind.
NPC fight: As the bandit approached, I covered my head in fear. "G-get away from me!" I shouted. The bandit swung his axe, chuckling madly, and I barely moved out of the way in time. It appeared I had no choice; I would have to transform if I wanted to survive. I grasped my necklace and closed my eyes, concentrating all of my power in order to transform. The Dragonstone reacted to my wishes, and began to change me. Blue scales covered my body, as my arms and legs shortened. Two powerful wings grew out of my back, now carrying the majority of my body weight, and a long cyan tail pushed from my spine. My face pushed into a reptilian muzzle, and I grew to my full size. The bandit staggered backward in fear, trying to run. But I blew a burst of energy at him, the force of the water instantly knocking him out as it hit. In exhaustion, my transformation reversed itself, and I fell to my knees, sobbing. I'd hurt a man! How could I ever hope for peace and coexistence when my first reaction is to harm someone when they threaten me?
PC fight: As the archer approached, I regarded him cautiously. He didn't truly mean to attack me... did he? It appeared that he did, however, as he drew his bow. It appeared that the only way I could survive was by transforming. I changed into my draconic form and blew a burst of water at him.
