"Well if it's undead and monsters we are dealing with. My light magic can give us a slight edge. But, if things get too bad. We will retreat." Lady Lucy spoke. The former Ilian was a seasoned welder of both staff and light magic. She could practically blast the sun out of her fingertips. At least that's how Midori always envisioned it. Her light magic was something to behold.
The pink haired priestess blushed at Reed's praise. All she did was patch up a gash on the boy's shoulder. It wasn't anything serious. Just routine.
"Please, it was nothing." Midori wasn't great at taking compliments from people who weren't Lucy or Skai. She realized that when she obtained Kiseki. The priestess went from being a regular priestess to someone somewhat important among her community. And that made her uncomfortable. But, the prospect of observing another priest perked her up a bit.
"It is always nice to meet another staff user." Midori commented.
"Yes. Between the three of us, we should be able to heal whatever wounds come our way." Lady Lucy spoke again. She watched as both Mana and Aura foolishly headed out into the unknown. The older woman let out a sigh. She signaled to Midori to stay close and followed the trail down.
"You, Reed, cover our rear. Should something come from behind. Tell us." Lady Lucy spoke in a stern voice. She took the lead. Midori followed right behind her staff in hand. Ready to help and heal.

"Nice I guess I don't need to worry about a few injuries..." Mana said jokingly when the healers reassured the party with their healing capabilities. It was nice to have this kind of magic around. However, Mana reminded herself that there would be a limit about how much these guys could heal. The art of healing magic was like a miracle but it wouldn't be able to stop death or regrow torn limbs. She still needed to avoid grave injuries even with these great healers around.
After giving a last glance to the party, Mana took the lead toward the temple where the malicious energy coming from. The Sacaen believed she needed to be the one to enter the temple because the others were mages and an inexperienced boy. There might be monsters inside and she would take the role of vanguard for the party gladly.
As expected, the inside of temple was dark and the light could penetrate only until near the entrance. There seemed to be a few windows and ventilation holes but the vegetation had pretty grown around them and allowed only dim light to enter the building. Mana took out her torch, poured a little oil to the edge, and ignited fire using flint. She then her extra torches and the other tools to the party so they could use it if they wanted to. "Can't take too many risk, you know... I can barely see anything even with this fire," she said, smiling.
Mana then drew Falcatta, holding the sword in her right hand and the torch in the other hand. She took her few steps very carefully and gradually walked faster into the temple. "I don't see anything in th-....Kyaah!!!" she let out a surprised shriek as she fell, her sword and torch escaping her grip. The poor Sacaen swordswoman felt her face against the floor in a very unpleasant and painful manner. She had taken too much attention to the sides and missed a body lying on the floor which beautifully orchestrated this graceful fall for the sword maiden. Lets hope the others would forget about it quickly. it was very embarrassing moment...
"Damn it! What the..." She screamed and looked frustrated, searching for the culprit who had tripped her. The pain on her face, especially on her bleeding nose, infuriated Mana greatly. But all of that anger disappeared in an instant when she was met with hollow stare from a...skull? Oh Mother Earth... She couldn't even scream like a scared little girl as the shock stopped her voice leaving her throat.
But a lying corpse wasn't the worst part... The party was going to learn about "worst" soon enough as the boney prankster that had tripped Mana started moving. And he wasn't the only one...
About five corpses inside the temple started to rise and crawl toward the party. A corpse that were near the entrance also followed suit and started crawling toward the party from behind.
"Bonewalkers!!! Everyone get ready!" Mana shouted as she tried to grapple against the bonewalker who had tripped her.

Aura decided to walk closely to Mana but with enough room to give her several paces of space. They were mostly a bunch of healers and if anyone was going to be able to keep them protected it was going to be Mana. Aura had heard about the monsters enough times while traveling the lands of Elibe but he never actually encountered such things before. If they were a real potential threat then he would have to be ready for what may come. And for him that meant clinging to the warrior among them. He found himself wishing that Althea or Drei could be here more and more. He did not doubt Mana's capabilities per se, but the others were already proven.
Aura took one of the torches and lit it holding it aloft in his left hand. Thunk! Suddenly Mana fell to the ground with a startle. Pfft! Aura had to suppress a chuckle. It startled him as his mind had gone off to other places but it did not make it all any less funny to him. Then again... there was an important inquiry worth making. "Are you alright Mana?" His voice rose above barely a whisper not knowing if she would react with hostility or not. Not that, that would actually matter.
Bonewalkers? He had heard of those things once before, but they were here? He looked back at the entrance and then at the walker engaged with Mana and had to think quickly. Uh, uh, uh, he'd never actually fought anyone yet! Well... protect the one with the sharp weapon! Taking the torch he tried to jam it into the face holes of the bonewalker that had tripped his ally.

"Huh? I-I mean, yes'm! Right away!" the squire stammered as he gripped his pitchfork tightly in anticipation. In the given circumstances, his immediate reaction came from the tone of voice of Lady Lucy than his actual attentiveness to the task. After all: she was the experienced fighter, though in magic rather than with a lance, and he was the weaker trainee. A mutual chain-of-command had practically been pre-established from raw intuition and training alone, with the farmboy resting well below the rest. Then again, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing to be assigned monitoring the back. The eerie atmosphere of the ruins was bound to hide some sort of clever trap in store for those who entered, and an assault on two fronts without proper warning would be much harder than just one.
After the torch had been lit and the group was on its way, Reed could take the time to observe the weathered walls of the dark and ominous temple. The rider did not dare light his torch yet for fear of not being able to hold his pitchfork solidly, so instead he stowed it under his viridian cloak and continued onwards. Vegetation had found its way creeping through cracks in the walls despite there being little sunlight, and the air grew thick. Whether through hallucinations from paranoia or a warning of events to come, the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end as a small breeze brushed past his shoulders and made him shiver. Come on... Think-a the fellers lost in 'ere. Think-a how they feel right now 'n pull yerself together...
Suddenly, Mana's "graceful" faceplant had caused the Arkyan farmboy to ready his weapon with frantic glances ahead of the group. He could see nothing yet. Only relaxing slightly, his eyes drifted slowly down to where Mana had fallen only to see the remains of what one could call human... If human remains moved on their own. The creature was a monster, and at least five others had risen to join in! With a chattering of his teeth, Reed leaned back slightly and caused his horse to slowly back away despite her constant twitching, waiting for the moment to dive straight ahead and take one out.
However, the thump-thump of a hobbling entity diverted his attention away from the five corpses advancing. The curly-haired boy turned his steed around and had set his sights on a single Bonewalker that had managed to pick up a wooden limb sturdy and long enough to work as a makeshift sword slash beatstick. "W-We got a lil' bit of a problem back here! One-a them varmints gone 'n came up from behind!" Reed called out to the four, clinging desperately to his horse. Gracie, clearly not amused by her master's reaction, dipped down and immediately dashed forward without any direction from Reed whatsoever. With a startled and shout, the tool-wielding Sacaean cocked his weapon back with his right and held on for dear life with his left as he aimed a stab forward towards the chest of the skeleton. The technique was sloppy and the strength by itself was nothing to write home about, but perhaps maybe the momentum would prove to be useful.

As the duo made their way into the ruins, Midori did her best to try and keep herself calm. She needed to stay calm in order to keep Ashes calm. The horse was not accustomed to going into dark tombs. Most of her travels consisted of walking above ground under the sunshine and clouds. And tunnels where she can light at the end. Midori crouched down and whispered something soothing into the mare's ears. This seemed to encourage the horse to press forward into the unknown.
Lady Lucy's horse seemed to be completely fine with the idea of waltzing into the dark. She and Lucy seemed to have an aura of confidence around them. The battle hardened Valkyrie held an orb of light in her hand. That light illuminated the way, and she saw Mana's face plant. Serves her right for wandering round the dark like that. It didn't look like Mana needed any medical attention. The swordswoman quickly got up and announced what sort of monster they were dealing with.
"The living dead." This was Lady Lucy's first time facing one. Up until now, the two woman had dismissed the phenomenon of undead as somewhat of a hoax. They were fortunate enough not to run into the monsters in any of their travels. Plus, the village had not been attacked by them either. Most of their trouble seemed to come from the living people, in the form of bandits and raiders.
"The rumors were true." Midori whispered under her breath. The priestess only knew of the monsters that attacked the CoH. Those monsters were led by Hargus who was slain. And thus at least she thought that put an end to the monsters. And Midori had to come up with a way to purify these things so that their souls can rest. So that they wouldn't come back as an demon. It might be too late for that now. Reed spoke up and that snapped her out of her semi-stunned state. It seemed he was doing exactly what Lucy had told him. To holler if he sees one of the undead creep up behind them. Lady Lucy quickly turned her horse around. She quickly targeted the undead thing and spoke.
"Reed, move out of the way!" She shouted. The orb of light she lobbed the orb of light she had in her hand. The orb of magic struck at the monster's head. It scorched the skull until it cracked and buckled into several pieces. The bone walker fell. And Lady Lucy quickly produced a new orb of light.

Mana winced in pain when the Bonewalker's teeth sunk into her arm. Getting bitten by an walking corpse surely wasn't a pleasant experience. For a moment, the thought of biting it back crossed her mind but then Mana realized that it wouldn't work at all. Thankfully, Aura took the initiative and hit it with his torch, sending it flying away from the panicked swordmaster.
"Nicely done..." Mana thanked the pale priest as she leapt toward her dropped sword and torch. The bite wound in her arm was bleeding but still bearable and wouldn't restrict her ability to slashing monster into bits much. So this was the time for payback. Gripping her sword tightly and assuming her fighting stance, Mana's eyes quickly scanned the dark room to find out how many corpses she would need to slice. "Four...Five...Six including the one Aura has beaten..." she muttered to herself. Mana knew that she should take a more active role in the battle. The other were healers and mages, and a boy with potential but still inexperienced, so she would have to fight to keep the monsters away from her comrades. "Aura... Keep your distance from these creatures... Let me do the hard work!" she shouted. It wasn't an order, not exactly, but Mana wouldn't let him argue as she rushed toward the Bonewalker who had tripped her.
The Bonewalker, still crawling on the floor, didn't have much time to retaliate as when Mana's feet stomped on its neck bone and crushed it. Severing the head from the body was one of the known method to deal with undead and it would usually work except for some special cases. Mana immediately turned for another two of Bonewalkers heading toward Midori. Her gaze darted for Reed and Lady Lucy for a second as she made sure the other two doing fine with their battle. Well, Lady Lucy seemed to have everything under control and Reed fought clumsy but he had made solid hit.
"Midori, watch out!" Mana yelled to her pink-haired friend as she kicked the nearest walking corpse away from Midori. It flew and crashed against the other one. They somehow managed to keep standing though. Mana put herself between Midori and the two corpses, taking a deep breath for her next attack. A second later, she already charged boldly toward them. Her fighting style always involved many change of pace and fluid fast movement that sometimes made her opponent feel they were facing against a wild storm. If these undead could think, the probably would feel the same.
One of the Bonewalkers was armed with rusty sword and it clumsily swung its weapon toward the girl, which unfortunately only hit her mirage as Mana made a fluid sidestep to dodge the attack. What came next was three successive slashes on the Bonewalker's torso, neck, and left leg. With a quick backstep, Mana put some distance between herself and the crumbling Bonewalker before the other one could even retaliate.
"One down..." she counted. Lady Lucy and Reed had killed one while she and Aura had killed two so it seemed there were three Bonewalker left. One was crawling slowly toward Mana and Midori. The other two Bonewalkers were probably heading toward Reed, Lady Lucy, and Aura.

{I think Mana's gone you guys. Up to you if you want to continue the fight or pull your character's out and retreat.}
"MIDORI WATCH OUT?" Watch what? Where? Midori barely had any time to react to the danger around her. Mana had already dove into the space between her and the bonewalkers. Mana's movements were swift. The bonewalkers were dispatched with ease. Midori found it a bit difficult to pinpoint all of Mana's movements. She moved far to quickly for her to realize where she was going. So Midori, instead focused on Mana after she "landed". A quick scan of the swordswoman's body assured her that she had not taken any damage from that particular hit. But, she did notice the blood trail on her arm. The healer quietly cast her healing magic's towards Mana's body. The light of the staff illuminated the darkness momentarily. The bite wound was mended almost instantly. The pink haired priestess let out a small sigh.
"Midori!"
"I'm alright! Just focus on the rear."
Lady Lucy picked up the rear. Her orb of light magic provided illumination, but the old woman relied more on her hearing then she did her eyes. She also relied on the subtle ques of her large horse. The animal can sense the movements of the bone walkers better then the human's could. She had absolute trust in her rider to keep her safe from any monsters. When the bone walker's silhouette appeared on the fringes of the light, Lady Lucy let loose her orb of light magic. The impure creature crumbled into a pile of bone pieces.

(OOC: I will probably pull Reed after this fight: seems like he would want out of there if he's outclassed by even one Bonewalker lol)
As a pure circumstance or a miracle, the Arkyan farmer barely avoided becoming a dead man compared to a... Well, a not-so-dead man. Thanks to his lack of coordination with a lance and limited movement in the enclosed space, Reed had fallen off of Gracie to the right, pulling the skewered Bonewalker with him. As the corpse was pushed up from the counterweight of a 15 year old squire, a brilliant orb of light proceeded to smash into its skull and render it once again deceased. The remains of the once animated pile of bones returned to its prior state: just a regular old pile of bones. Gasping for breath and staring up wide-eyed at the corpse crumpling as its chest cavity was shattered by a pitchfork, the boy simply laid there for a moment in shock. Not amused by the trance her master was stuck in, Gracie had stooped down and nudged his side, causing him to stir.
"Ngh... S-Sorry, Gracie. But this darn place's just crawlin' with them fellers! I dunno 'bout you, girl, b-but I dunno if I'm ready for this kinda action yet!" he stammered, catching his breath as he rested on his pitchfork. From an outsider's perspective, Reed was talking to his horse. Not just talking in terms of commands or praise, but a full-on statement meant to reach the animal. On the surface, he was crazy as a loon until the steed seemed to understand and turned to let her rider on begrudgingly.
Settled in the saddle again, Reed could turn to see Lady Lucy, Midori, Mana, and Aura in the fray. Even the healers seemed to be doing more than him! What chance did he have surviving the place where several explorers had been assumed dead? Then again, what would that make him if he were to leave when they were still being assaulted? "Look, y'all... I-I'm so, so sorry 'bout this, but I got a lil' sister 'n all, and I don't want Ma 'n Pa worried 'bout me. I'll help ya fight 'em off here, but after this, I'm headin' on out!" the squire shouted, readying his lance on another advancing Bonewalker. With a shout, he heaved his pitchfork around his head to meet the swung blade of the skeleton warrior, resulting in a stubborn power struggle.

"I do not like these conditions. Too many of them, too little of us, and too little room to make much use of it!" Lady Lucy shouted to the group. Her orbs of light magic continued to illuminate the darkenend halls of the tomb.
"I agree with the lad. Let us pull back. Mana we are retreating, the odds be not in our favor." And it's too damned crowded for those of us on horseback! Lady Lucy shouted and gradually started to pull her and her horse backwards towards the exit. Midori was trailing a few paces behind her. Not quite focused on her surroundings, but she was focused on something else. She saw Reed as he took the tumble off his horse. She glossed over at Mana who appeared to be holding her own, but also seemed to be taking a few steps backwards towards the exit. Midori couldn't quite tell as she could only see clearly when Lady Lucy's light magic flashed in the swordwoman's general direction. The young priestess sighed softly. She focused her magic out towards Reed. She didn't know what sort of injury he had (if any) but she figured she should heal him anyway. He appeared to be the least experienced out of the group and the priestess knew how much it hurt falling off of one's horse.
She had a good line of sight of him. And she quietly commanded Ashes to take a step or two close to him. She steeled her focus and her magic responded in turn. The glass orb atop her staff glowed once again with a divine light. It enveloped Reed's body and healed him of whatever hurt he head. Midori let out a tired sigh after that. She felt that his injuries were minor, but the act of healing still took a bit out of her.
"Come on, were retreating." She spoke in a slightly rushed voice. Little.. out of breath. Lady Lucy secured a path for the group, and after a bit, they (Midori and Lucy) were outside once more. They would linger just long enough to ensure that everyone was out of the ruins. Afterwards, they would leave the ruins. Carrying whomever decided to retreat with them.
