It was a early morning this day, the blue skies clear of any white clouds, and the bright sun still carefully making its way towards its highest point. A gentle breeze was blowing, only barely rustling the tips of the tall grass, making the plants sway softly. It was on a well worn path that the young man had found himself today, flat grasslands surrounded him on all sides, large rock jutting above the grass casting long shadows due to the rising sun. Besides grass, colorful plants of all kinds could be found scattered amongst the view. Some simply beautiful flowers that was only for viewing, and others rich herbs that could be harvested and used for many purposes. Normally the man would be off path, exploring the vibrant treats that could be found in such lands, but he found himself already quite loaded from a previous just a few hours before he started traveling. Always a early bird, this one, having awoken before the sun to get his habitual stretches and katas out of the way. Then he left stones and tinder behind at the campsite for any traveler to use after him, the only thing he didn't leave was the basket of drying teas, balms he had picked from the shady areas provided by the rocks. Besides the tea, he also had gathered a few berries harvest only an hour before, having spotted the bush far off from the road and was simply too curious to ignore it. That's how he found himself snacking on the small, flavorful berries, full lips pulled into a small smile. The soft man was donned in his normal gear today, his pure white turtleneck sweater acting as under armour for his off white kimono top, on top of that was his black and grey breastplate, matching pauldrons on his shoulders. He wore simple baggy pants that was tucked into his boots, the same off white as his kimono top, he wore a leather belt in place of the typical sash, the material made to strap various equipment to. Such as the dark sheath for his Katana, Fennel, who was only just buzzing around in the back of Saffron’s mind, eagerly waiting for something exciting to happen. The man shook his head lightly at the feeling, his long, flowing hair echoing the movements fluidly. That was thing that stood out about the man, his cyan colored hair was very long, almost enough to be a hindrance if it wasn’t tied up by white straps. Even then it still reached to his calves, not something you’d see on a typical man in this land. Not that he was a masculine man anyways, no, Saffron was very soft and feminine in appearance. His skin smooth and his cheeks rounded slightly, his light grey eyes surrounded by long, dark eyelashes. Even under his clothes, he found himself with a slim, fit body that had a little more curve than angle. Really the most masculine thing about him was his soft, deep baritone voice, one that felt like silk rubbing gently against your ears. Aside from all of that, he wasn’t the least bit intimidating, his relaxed demeanor and gentle features are mostly to blame. His Katana was pretty much the only thing sharp about the young man, and he didn't mind, not one bit. Saffron hummed to himself, mind adrift in thoughts of all of the wonderful tea and treats he could make once he found a traveler friendly settlement, so he could stock up and hopefully find some work. Maybe he could lend a hand to a inn? He tapped his chin with a gloved knuckle, staring blankly ahead as pondered over if a inn would let him help. He always lent a hand at his tribe’s inn, but would a different tribe let him? He didn't really know how other tribes work. He let out a small confused noise as he came back to reality briefly to observe his surroundings, just to make sure he was aware of any other travelers, predators, or possible foes may be around. When she wasn't stabbing villains and saving the day, Mana assumed the role of mother for the baby she had saved from Nega Burt. There had been some hesitation when the decision to adopt the little guy had been made but in the end Mana simply couldn't leave the orphaned baby alone. They had become quite inseparable ever since. Being the only one left of her tribe, maybe she seek a new warmth to replace what had been lost.
The one year old boy was named Tora, after Mana's deceased father.
Mana would bring the little guy with her always. Well, she would leave the baby in Terra and Arulad tribe care when she embarked toward dangerous mission though. Her friends had agreed that Mana seemed a lot happier since she had begun her role as a mother. It was funny everytime the Sacaen maiden looked awkward with changing diaper or singing lullaby for her son but the smile on her face showed that the girl was feeling happiness in every second she spent with her new family.
And today, Mana had brought Tora on a shopping trip to another encampment.
On her way back to Arulad tribe encampment, the gentle breeze and the warmness of the sun tempted Mana to take a short break. It wouldn't hurt to lie on those grasses a bit, no? Riding her horse out of the worn path, Mana used the soft grasses as comfortable bed for her and Tora. They looked really comfortable and the baby crawled happily between the grasses that even taller than him

His humming continued, the soft sound playing a pattern of slow, low notes. The man rocked his head to the internal music, causing his long bangs to dance with him. So far his travels have proven to be a easy going, uneventful affair, he hadn’t met any other travelers besides himself, which was a shame truly, he wanted to know how people outside of his tribe acted. He didn’t really know much about other humans, their confusing emotions and seemingly out of left field actions always baffled the young man. He remembered how lost he was listening to all of the arguments and fights he’s saw as his time as a hand. Why shouldn't she spend time with that nice young farmer who fed him for labor? Isn't having friends a good thing? He likes having friends, their warm and nice to him, they make him feel happy. Why wasn’t she allowed to be happy with others? How does him training so much make you sad? He wants to be able to protect you and the tribe, thats a good thing isn’t it. He certainly likes training, it's challenging and relaxing at the same time, it makes him feel strong enough to help others. Should he not try to protect you? Just small things that he’s heard over the years since he was taken in, at least nobody hurt him. His tribe took great care of him, feeding him, teaching him, clothing him, it's why he does his best to make them happy by being a useful, obedient hand to carry any task they need. The man frowned and silenced his humming. He hoped that nobody is upset that he left without notice, he HAD made sure to finish every single duty he had before leaving, but since he’s gone now, he won't be there to provide any aid for the future. He wished that they would get along fine without the extra help….they should, he is only one hand after all, compared to the body of restless youth ready to build their reputation as reliable. He mentally sent a good luck to them, it would make him very happy to know that others have succeeded. Mood improved once more, Saffron resumed his humming, popping one of his small berries in his mouth every once in awhile. He focused on the path ahead, having came to a intersection that joined two paths. Noticing something out of place to the 18 year old, he could see the shapes of others in the distance, but couldn't make out many details from his distance. He made a curious noise, now intrigued by the forms ahead, this may be the first encounter he has had since he left. As he walked closer, he could make out who he was seeing better, it was a woman he believed, with a child and a horse? Yes, that was what he was seeing, how interesting. He wondered if she was nice, it would be great if she was. He likes meeting other people after all, they was always so interesting to be around. Even with his curiosity peaked, he didn't hasten his steps, still traveling at his comfortable, easy pace. He could hear Fennel mutter something in the back of his mind, but he wasn't really paying attention enough to understand. As he drew closer to the group, who had gone off the path and seemed to stop, he found his attention split by the sight of tall purple plants peeking through the high grass, not to far from where the group had rested. It was only a few meters past them, a little further off path, but he recognized the distinctive herb and would loved to add it to the basket he was carrying. He hoped that they wouldn't mind him passing close to harvest plant that caught his attention. Once Saffron was close enough to the group, still on the path. He kept a wide berth, glancing over at them with a soft, curious look in his grey eyes. He paused and let his basket slide onto his arm, giving a polite bow in greeting. He rose and hoped to catch the woman’s eyes, he was sure she probably noticed his approach a while ago, ”Good day, please do not mind me.” he spoke, his voice in an slightly odd accent that came from only speaking severely broken common for years before he was taken in. His voice was still soft, but he rose it slightly so that it could carry over to the woman easier. From this distance he could see her clothes much more clearly, they was designed rather familiarly, some women of his tribe wear clothes similar to those. She was also armed, as she should be. He hoped that she would let him pass towards the flowers, he wouldn't be passing through their radius after all, instead planning to walk a little further down before going off path. It was still close though… He made a quiet, pondering noise as he thought about if he should just go straight to it. Mana

Mana tiny lips curled into a warm smile as her eyes traced her small boy between the grasses. She didn't want to stop him from familiarizing with the land but as a good mother she shouldn't take her eyes off him as well. This could be easier if the wind wasn't gently graze her face and causing her eyes to become heavier gradually. It would be a nice place to doze off if she wouldn't mind anyone passing the path catch her sleeping and drooling. But even if she was ready to lose some self-esteem, the girl wouldn't want to take a risk getting the baby hurt by...anything.
Mana heard the faint sound of the footsteps when Saffron was already close enough. There wasn't any reason to get threatened by a lone traveler in this plains. Well, unless they were overzealous Etrurian. Pushing herself back on her feet again, the black-haired maiden watched the cyan-haired person getting closer as she greet the woman(?) with a warm smile. This traveler looked quite beautiful with that long flawless cyan hair and light complexion. The weapon on waist hinted that he/she was trained in swordplay.
"Oh, okay?" Mana answered weakly. There was something off. Despite her(?) look, this person had a good baritone voice. This made Mana staring to the cyan-haired youth confusedly. It might be a little impolite but Mana was too interested to remember that some people wouldn't respond nicely to a long curious stare. One step...two steps... As Saffron getting closer, Mana was able to see his face more clearly. He still looked beautiful yes...but that face gave a look of handsome guy instead of beautiful girl. When her eyes darting down to his attire, it was clear that he was from Sacaen origin or at least had adopted Sacaen heritage somewhat. Sacaen was known to have a lot of tribes so there were a lot of different cultures but all of them felt oddly similar enough if one would carefully observe.
After some blinking and double-checking of the face she was seeing, Mana let out a small chuckle as she picked up Tora and cuddled him inside her arms. "Almost mistook as a girl..." she said out loud. It might be wrong to comment about this manliness but Mana wasn't the type to think thoroughly before speaking. "Good day, my fellow Sacaen..." she added, smiling. This guy didn't look evil or something so she happily lowered her guard and treated him just like her tribesman.
"Are you going to do some foraging?" Mana asked curiously when she noticed the basket the beautiful boy was carrying. The sword maiden hadn't noticed the herbs but she could easily guess what Saffron would be doing. "Or you just finished shopping?" she asked again.

Saffron watched the woman as she examined him, not bothered by the scrutiny in the least. The dark eyed woman was quite beautiful, long black hair pulled into a ponytail, with tousled bangs held back somewhat by her green headband. She didn't look very old, now that he was closer to her, she had a very youthful face and a strong feel to her. Maybe close to his age? It wouldn't be a stretch if she was. Even as he drew closer, he noticed a air about her, one that had Fennel buzzing around excitedly in the back of his mind. He tilted his head to the side, as the woman said something that he wasn’t entirely sure he was meant to notice. Not that her words bothered him, he is fully aware of his feminine qualities, and has been mistaken for a young maiden many times in his life. Instead he took a curious look at the young child in her arms, he couldn't be more than 1, maybe 2. He was a adorable little thing, he reminded Saffron of the young children he would have to take care off while their parents were busy, all cute laughs and curious gazes. He missed them, they were so fun to be around, and he loves caring for others. He looked back to the woman and gave her a simple, full smile, pleased that his greeting was returned and that she seem to not mind his presence. He made a sound at her inquiry, a tad surprised that she cared enough to ask about what he was doing. That made him very pleased, so the man easily told the woman what she desired, ”I am foraging, yes. I love to collect herbs and lovely treats from the lands, their purposes and uses are so numerous that I could use them for almost everything. I saw a patch of Hyssops not far from where you are staying, I wanted to pick them right away, but I didn’t want to disturb you.”After he said this, he casually strolled to the patch of herbs he pointed out, kneeling down to start a quick harvest. He didn't take that much from the patch, instead waving away a lingering bee and carefully collecting the plants by snapping them at the base of their stems. Once he had the herbs carefully set in the basket, he returned to the small group and held one of the Hyssops in his free hand. ”This ought to make a delightful tea once I mix this with my other herbs.” he said easily, looking at the fresh plant for a second, before locking gazes with the woman, ”Are you partial to tea? I’d be happy to share if you were.” Mana

As a Sacaen, Mana was knowledgeable about flora to some extent although her expertise of this subject was nowhere near Saffron's. So when Hyssop was mentioned, she could only nod in approval not really understanding about the herb usefulness. Tora, the baby in her arms, seemed to show more interest than his mother though. His arms reached out toward Saffron but obviously couldn't reach him and just ended making some cute waving motion.
"Nah, don't mind us. We are just lazing around because today weather feels great," she cheerfully exclaimed, followed by the baby's joyful laughter.
Mana didn't really have particular preference for tea but she wouldn't turn down such kind offer. She couldn't imagine what he was going to make using the herb he had just picked earlier, but knowing that it would be made by someone who knew about plants like him erased any hesitation she might have. "Well, I never turn down something delicious. I will have one cup I guess," she replied. It might have sound like the black-haired girl flattering Saffron. She hadn't even tasted it so she wouldn't know it delicious or not? However, Mana's words were simply innocent and sincere. The reason behind her confidence in his tea came from her naivety.
"But are you going to make the tea here or what? I mean... You probably need to prepare some hot water first, right? Should we prepare a small fire then?" Her questions bombarded Saffron without mercy. Alright, jokes aside, Mana was really curious about his next action.

Saffron let out a soft chuckle, a happy sound caused by how easily the woman accepted his offer for tea. He loves sharing his tea with others, since not to many people bother mixing tea like he does. He wonders why sometimes, it's such a simple and easy way to get good tea with great flavors and a magnitude of health benefits. Its may take a little time to hunt them down if you don’t grow them yourself, and it takes awhile to figure out all of the benefits and negatives certain herbs had on the body. It was well worth it in Saffron’s opinion, and he hoped to spread at least a little of his knowledge he learned from being the grandson of a wicked shaman. Not that he really shares that part, after all, Master told him not to speak of his Nana or his connection too her. The young man being the splitting image of the woman in her youth when she still actively killed travelers and bandits was bad enough, but letting others know of his relation would surely get him killed, he had been told. The only plus was that not many remembered his Nana after her 30+ year inactivity, even then she only stayed in one small part of Sacea.
He never really understood it fully, but Master was wise, so he listened.
Now, when he saw the baby make grabby hands at the Hyssop in his hands, he made a pleased humming noise and moved closer to the duo, kneeling as close as the woman would let him let give the child a closer look. He knew he probably shouldn't give the actual herb to the child, Hyssop was a very strong herb and he wouldn't want the child trying to eat it as it is. Saffron started to hum softly, looking back at the woman through his thick lashes,
”Agreed, it truly is a great day.”
As she asked her questions about what he was to do, he stood back a little to looked in the small area for a nice spot to create a fire. Once he did, he took a quick look around to see if there was any materials to make a pit.
”Yes, I’ll make the tea here. I already have all of the tools I may need in my packs. I just need to make a fire, as you suggested. It would have been nice if this was one of the pre-made rest spots I had been helping to create in my travels.”
By that, he meant the reusable flattened clearings that had a firepit made and ready to be relite, piles of rocks and tinder ready to use, and sometimes, he’d plant self-reliant berry bushes that could be harvested within a few months after planting. He hasn't seen these kinds of spots often in his few days of travel, so he helps make them if he finds old rest stops or clearings. They may not be the best he could do, but they can do the job as long as they aren't destroyed by people or the environment. It's just something he thinks would be appreciated by travelers, he has no real reason to do it other than that. He stood carefully, knuckle resting against his chin as he thought about the quickest way to gather.

Wow! Mana was considering maybe she should keep Saffron around. It would be nice to have a portable tea maker with her everytime. She then let out a small chuckle. Her silly imagination often ran wild and made the girl want to repeatedly call herself stupid. Now then... she would like to help starting fire but this tiny monster in her arms were making serious attempt to charge at Saffron and chomp his herbs. Not sure what those herbs would do to the poor baby ingestion system but Mana wouldn't risk it happening. It probably wouldn't end with just stomachache and a changing his diaper.
"I actually just bought some tinder. They are in there," she said, making a gesture with her head toward the sacks in the each side of her horse. "Dunno if you already have some but you can use mine. I hope we won't start a wildfire," she ended with a little joke. Sure burning all these grasses sounded fun and maybe would make a nice spectacle but no...it was definitely wrong. No one sane would think about it, right?
"You sure are prepared for it. Do you always have the tools with you?" Mana was honestly impressed but also a little confused.
"By the way...where are my manners...I haven't introduced myself... I am Mana of Hawkeye tribe. Well, I am kinda with Arulad tribe now but I am still not used introducing myself as an Arulad so... Geez what I am rambling about. You can just call me Mana," she said cheerfully despite giving unnecessarily long explanation about her tribe. Yes, it didn't feel right for her. Mana of Arulad...maybe didn't sound too bad but it left a bad taste in the black-haired maiden's mouth especially because it would remind her about her original tribe...unfortunate fate.
"I am a bit curious. Do the people in your tribe have the same cyan hair? It seriously looks great especially with that long hairs of yours," Mana complimented Saffron, laughing happily. As if he shared Mana's opinion, Tora started reaching out for the guy's long hair, probably thinking those long cyan strands as his toy.

Saffron made a pleased sound when the beautiful woman mentioned that she had tinder already ready to use. That was smart, having it in a bag during traveling, Saffron didn't have the pleasure of having a pouch big enough to store significant tinder for long travels, so he resorted to searching for some every afternoon. It was a little tedious, but he was quite used to doing mind numbing tasks for days at a time, that's what pretty much being a servant gets you. At least his Master and the other tribesmen treats him well, it still boggles him how differently they treat him compared to his Nana, he really likes it. Though he still loved being with Nana anyways, she taught him all he knew about herbs after all, and did put some thought into raising him, no matter how little.
”If I make a wall for the fire, that shouldn’t be an issue.”
He said obliviously, joke flying over his head like most things he seems to encounter nowadays. He approached the woman’s steed, giving the horse a soft smile as he carefully drew near. He liked horses, they were powerful, beautiful, and diligent creatures who helped the lives of the people in so many ways. The joined men on wars, did labor where just the strength of humans wasn't enough, was great transport, and had lovely personalities most of the time. As long as the horse didn’t reject him, he’d search the sacks that the maiden specifically pointed out and retrieve the necessary tinder.
He glanced over his shoulder briefly when he heard the next question,
“Yes, I always have my tea and salve making tools with me at all times. I never know when I might want to sit down and create something new, so it's best to keep them with me.”
He walked back to his previous spot after a second, kneeling down and setting his basket to his side. He reached in and pulled out the rocks he had been using to weigh the bottom herbs down, then stacked them in a medium sized circle. He tugged a little at the grass in the middle, then set the tinder in the middle carefully.
”Oh,” He looked over to the woman, Mana, and smiled, “Its a pleasure to meet you, Mana. My name is Saffron, I was taken in by the Lythron Tribe when I was younger.”
He glanced down at the child in Mana’s arms, ”Who is the little one? he asked when she didn’t mention his name.
He waited a second before checking the distance to see if there was any Sagebrush in the grassy area. If there was Hyssop, then something like Sagebrush would be plenty, he had Sagebrush leaves in his bag from earlier, so he didn't bother looking for that particular plant when he was walking. Still, Sagebrush was great for fire, and came in packs too.
He lifted his finger up to his chin in thought, then gave Mana his attention once again,
”My hair? No, I’m the only one with this haircolor in my tribe, my Nana had the same color as me before she went grey. I suspect my mother might have as well, though I’m not sure.”
He took hold of one of his tied bands, to let the length of it dangle within the child’s reach. He loved his hair really, besides is bright, cool color, it also reflected sunlight brilliantly. Causing it to turn shades of darker blue, even lighter blue, and rarely, white when the light hits it just right. Besides the color, the texture was that of a very fine, heavy silk. Heavy, because of both the thickness and the length. He wasn’t sure what it would be like to not have the weight on his head.

"He really loves tea..." Mana already described Saffron as a tea lover in her mind. Nothing wrong about that of course. She might not a fan of tea but there was a certain charm in the simple but satisfying drink. Tea had many healthy purpose and for some tribes it even had cultural value that was passed through generation.
Mana tightened her hug around Tora but making sure she wasn't suffocating the baby. Saffron's inquiry seemed to have intrigue Tora somehow, causing the small Sacaen moving energetically. If people didn't know better, they might think that Tora was Mana's biological son. Both were unreasonably energetic and reacting to almost anything they saw. "Say hello to uncle Saffron..." The black-haired maiden pulled Tora's tiny hand and made waving motion, a cute laugh followed soon after. "His name is Tora. My son..." she said cheerfully. It wasn't hard to tell that Mana was still in her late teen from her complexion and demeanor so most people who learned that Tora was her son usually got a bit surprised. They usually assumed the pair was brother and sister. Not sure what Saffron would think about the female warrior though...
As Tora started playing and pulling the kind guy's hair, Mana was debating with herself whether to stop this cute spectacle or not. Hurting people usually wasn't cute at all but if this little monster was the one doing it then...No no no! He would probably grow into a bad boy if she let this happen. "But it looks so cute..." Okay, a innocent playful baby and a inexperienced mother now were having one of the most important moment about childcare...and that was pulling hair.
Mana finally stepped in when Tora was going to put the hair into his mouth. Her hand quickly snatched the end of it in time before the baby could learn that hairs tasted really really disgusting. In worst case he might find it tasty and then started devouring Mana's hair as well. Okay now her imagination had ran wild again...
"Be careful...He puts almost anything in his mouth. Last time he even treated my sword hilt like a lollipop..." Mana sounded both happy and angry when she spoke. Well, reacting to this little monster had given the girl a lot of new experiences. Good experiences overall. She made a genuine cute smile as she patted Tora affectionately, letting her palm brush against his thin red hairs.
"By the way...Lythorn tribe you said? Not sure if I have met or heard about them. Is your tribe from the northern plains?"

Saffron laughed quietly, grey eyes glittering briefly as the child tugged on his bang. He listen to Mana, though his eyes stayed focused on the cute little one, nodding when she told him his name. ”It's a pleasure to meet you Tora,”He said softly, only watching curiously by his brilliant locks approaching the child’s mouth. While he isn't any stranger to having his hair nibbled on, he also knew that most parents prefer to keep hair out of the mouths, and he supposed he understands this. People love to put all sorts of oils and stuff in there hair, some of those things are not recommended for consumption. In Saffron’s case, his hair was only subjected to the occasional oil, one he makes himself. It's entirely safe, but still not something you should eat just to eat. In the end he didn't have to decide to stop Tora himself, his mother quickly stopped the child and separated him from his long hair. Saffron leaned back, sitting straight now that he was freed, and chuckled at Mana’s words. ”Well he’s an adventurous baby, thats a good thing. That he wants to know what everything is, and see new wonders. It will help him learn and develop, strive for something interesting and new.” He said lightly, getting to his feet slowly. He made a small quizzical noise when the woman asked about the Tribe he was taken in by, moving his arms so that one was propped up by the elbow on the other, his hand resting in his normal thinking pose. ”It’s not surprising that you wouldn't know about the tribe, we very rarely interact with other tribes and keep to ourselves mostly. The Lythron stay in a area in the northeastern part of Sacae, very close to the mountains. Though we don't leave our lands to interact with others, we generally allow anyone who isn't hostile to us to pass through our land or take refuge. The Lythron tribe is very accepting to many things, they often take in tribeless Saceans, wild children, homeless travelers who wish for a place to live.
That is how our tribe grew to the numbers we have, how we learned so many crafts and techniques. I’m very grateful that they found me and taught me so many things I didn't know. Though,”He shook his head gently, ”I find that I’m still very...unknowledgeable about pretty much everything.”With that said, the man started to get to work on preparing the fire. The pot he had for his tea was meant to be set on hot charcoal after the fire finished burning the wood, so he would have to let the fire burn for a little before setting it down. Since the wood he had wasn't very thick, since the plains don't really have thick wood sources like trees everywhere, he just had to use a little more of the resources to produce the same effect. In the meantime, he prepared his pot for brewing. Adding water from his full flask, and stripping the hyssop he picked of all its petals. He worked with a little hum, going through with the trained motions as if he’s done this his entire life….and he has! Mana (Lol, sorry for the wait and possibly cruddy post. I’ve been finding it hard to write or do much of anything this month :3)
