The trip to where ever they were going was uneventful. The trio flew during the day and stopped before nightfall to set up camp and hunt what was needed. Aria tried her best to keep the ride entertaining by singing a few songs. Which was something she often did whenever she flew anywhere with Chewy. Chewy knew all her songs and sometimes would growl or chime in to the beat. And for a while the music she sung was ok, until she got bored of it herself and simply flew in silence. She wasn't quite sure what sort of things to actually say to Liam. What could she say? Was he excited about meeting some long lost relatives of his adoptive son? She thought not. Liam was the king of deadpan reactions and didn't like humans very much. And there was nothing to really go on to prove if the mystery lad they saw in the festival was even related to Liam's ancient son. Heirlooms are passed from generation to generation, but at the end of the day they are just things. Items. Items, that can be stolen, sold, or counterfeited, to benefit some other stranger. And she didn't know what to say to these people once they got there or if even these people were still alive. Bern wasn't exactly the easiest place to live. The country was recovering from the war. Bandits still roamed the lands. And there were a whole host of other things that loved to end human lives. Things like, monsters, plagues, famine, nature's crazy weather patterns, fire and so on. Aria wondered why she was thinking so hard on subject of death. The trio landed close to the village and decided to approach on foot.
It was Chewy who snapped her out of her thoughts. The wyvern let out a bit of a curious growl as she eyed the other wyvern in the distance. Chewy jerked her head up and flapped her wings. Aria glanced at the wyvern in the sky and quietly pulled Chewy's reigns downwards towards her. Liam made a comment about the red wyvern in the air and Aria paused for a moment.
"No, it's not angry. It's got no reason to attack the village. Other wise it would be screeching up a storm. It's rider must live in the village. Probably got all worked up seeing us flying around." She then turned her attention back to her own brick colored mount.
"Hey.. I want you to behave please." She scratched the bottom of Chew's chin.
"I know it's been a bit since you've seen another wyvern that wasn't from home. But, this visit's important to Liam. We need to make a good impression. So try and contain your excitement okay? No flying off. No picking fights. I promise if your good, i'll get you a treat." Aria pressed her forehead to Chew's muzzle. The wyvern understood what Aria was saying and licked her rider's face.
"Ack!" Aria had to pull away from Chewy's face and wipe away the long trail of wyvern saliva that now graced her chin and cheek.
"I'll take that as a yes." --
As they crossed through the gates and entered the village proper, Aria found it weird that every villager seemed to be looking at them. Or at least it felt like they were looking at them. And the village.. seemed to be.. not busy? Perhaps she was just used to the hustle and bustle of Lucerne. It was the second largest city in Bern. And it was always full of people and wyverns moving about. But, here, it seemed, empty. People felt like they had to be hold up in their own homes. And those that were out, seemed to give the trio the evil eye. Aria knew things had been bad during the war if the letters from her brother were to be believed. But, to outright not trust outsiders. Outsiders who have a wyvern of their own? Chewy pressed her nose against Aria's shoulder and let out a small whimper.
"I know. I know." She whispered back. When Liam stopped to inquire about the Kailas family, Aria stopped too. She petted Chewy on the snout. And overheard the older man's rude comment. Liam turned to look at her with an annoyed look. Aria sighed. Time to do the human thing. Fortunately, she actually planned for something like this. She walked around to Chew's side and pulled out a scroll with a seal meant for couriers and delivery wyvern. Hopefully, this would be enough to justify the trio being here. She approached Liam and put her hand on his shoulder.
"Allow me." She handed Liam, Chewy's reigns. Aria was confident Chewy wouldn't fly away. The wyvern trusted Liam enough at this point not to.
"Sir, we mean no disrespect or harm. But, we've come from Lucerne on a delivery. If you can just let us know where the Kalias family lives. We will deliver our package and be on our way." She was being as respectful as possible with both her voice and her posture. She held up the scroll with the seal. She didn't outright give it to the old man. But, just held it up enough for it to be legible by the man.
"Please."

"What kind of delivery?" the old man almost barked out. Since the moment Liam had asked about his distant family he could tell the tension in the air was tense enough he could cut it with a knife. "What my..." He paused for a moment, he wasn't sure how he should address Aria for a passable story, whatever he was going with couldn't be wife given his pause in speech. Deep down Liam had a natural talent for lying to humans, there had been quite a few times he ran into an adult he met while they were a child and could swear they met him before. He had to convince them that it was probably a dream that revealed their fate or something like that. As somebody who appeared to never age, a nature like that become to be apart of him. "Fiance?" Liam had tried his best to make the statement of who she was to him as a question hoping she'd catch the hint as he stepped forward and placed his free arm around her. "is trying to say is the delivery is a letter, of the verbal sort."
"The family and myself had been pen-pals for what feels like ages, while we feel like we know each other personally but we've never met fact to face before. I've told them of Aria here quite a bit, I would like to put faces to names for them and myself as I give them extremely good news." Liam said while looking downwards towards Aria. Lying to humans in the past was easy when it was just himself, but adding Aria made it a little bit more difficult for the old wyrm. The old man stared the couple up and down for a moment.

Aria was so ready to respond to the old man's comment about what type of delivery. Aria had a fake box in Chewy's bag for this sort of occasion. She was going to tell him that the young man of Kalias won a reward from the wyvern festival a few months back. And she was delivering said reward. That was the plausible lie she was gonna go with. But, Liam, opened his mouth and completely derailed her plan. Wait? What? WHAT? In the span of an instant Aria went from delivery girl to suddenly Liam's pretend future spouse. Did he not understand the lie she was going to go with? She had a fake delivery contract! With a plausible seal! Most common folk couldn't read. She took a deep breath in as Liam explained his portion of the lie. She did her best to keep a straight face, but then turned around so the old folks couldn't see her reaction, beet red from embarrassment. She glared at Liam, then mouthed 'WHAT THE HELL!'. She shook the paper she had in her hand. "PAPER. LETTER. DELIVERY. COME ON." Although, in hindsight perhaps they should have talked about the plan before arriving. She should have anticipated the people's skepticism about outsiders. But, there was no turning back now. The old couple couldn't un-hear what Liam said. And now she just had to roll with it.
Aria simply returned the paper towards Chewy's bag, and waited for this wagon wreck to be over. As the old couple debated what would be their fate Aria simply distracted herself with Chewy. She pulled the wyvern close and petted her neck and chin until an audible but happy purring noise could be heard. Not that wyverns could purr like cats could but it was the only word she had to describe that specific low repeated growl. She took another deep breath. This time to calm herself. She could still feel the warmth in her face from Liam's comment. She shook her head again. She looked around hoping to see the other wyvern, and yep. There it was. Still on it's patrol. Still looking at them.

Liam could feel Aria staring daggers into him after his lie, he shot her a glance and saw her mouthing something and shrugged his shoulders. "Well, you ain't no army lookin folk that I can tell. If you start something Sol will be ready to attack" The old man said the last part while pointing at the wyvern in the sky.
"Harming them isn't remotely close to being on my list of things to do in this life time." Liam replied with. "Well you don't seem like bad folk, they live yander there." the old man said now pointing in the direction of the Kailas home. "It's the blue house." "Thank you." Liam said with a wave before the trio left the old couple. As soon as they were far enough from the old couple that they couldn't hear them talk Liam spoke up. "If you're going to get upset so easily I don't think this marriage will last long." he said jokingly, he knew he was in for an ear full.
The two eventually found the house they were looking for, Liam knocked once and hesitated for a moment before knocking three more times. He would be lying if he said he wasn't nervous, in fact it was the first time he was nervous in an extremely long time. After the mountain pass where he stole young Julius' egg, fighting that black skinned monster in Lycia, as well as back at Aria's farm fighting the spider you would have though he had nerves of steel.

"I blame it on a failure to communicate." She replied to Liam dryly. Her face still had a shade of pinkish red on it. Still embarrassed.
"At least they let us know which house to go to." One hurdle conquered. Several hundred more to go. She didn't speak much as they made their way towards this mystery house. Aria was mildly distracted by how.. sad the town sort of looked. Like she knew that Bern's recovery of the war was difficult. Most folk were held indoors for some reason or another and those that did grace the streets looked wary. Perhaps it was her imagination. Or perhaps she had gotten to used to the lively city of Lucerne or the constant Military bustle of Larguz.
"What.. are we going to say to this family anyway? 'Hello, we saw this boy with a shield at the festival and have come to investigate?' Or 'Hey, this guy is your long lost ancestor. Can we come in and ask a series of personal questions?'" Aria spoke as she walked. She was trying to lighten the mood a fair bit. They came up at the house sooner rather than later. Staring down the door to this distant family member's door. Aria herself was standing a few steps behind Liam. Chewy was right behind her. Chewy's big fat head resting on top of Aria's. Neither human or wyvern were sure what to do or say. These guys were strangers to her. Hell, they were strangers to Liam. But, the wyvern rider picked up on Liam's hesitation after the first knock.
"You've got this and I'm right here behind you." I'm not going anywhere. She didn't know if her small words of motivation were enough. But, the one eyed man went ahead and knocked the door three more times. She did her best to keep a straight face. She needed to be strong here. If things went well, then she could relax. If things went bad, if they asked too many questions, well, she would think of something.

After his final knock he reached around Aria and put his hand on her shoulder and pulled her closer. He finds it kinda funny, find it kinda sad. He felt he was superior to humans in every way yet here he was depending on a race he saw as a lessor one, the last time he talked to a human with his family name remembered Julius as an old man. The door had opened, before the couple was a woman that showed her years as a mother. Liam didn't know what to say at first, he knew she wasn't family by blood but he couldn't help to feel her pain raising the children that shared the same blood line as his adopted son.
Liam didn't notice his grip on Aria's shoulder tighten slightly upon seeing that woman. "Your son... the one with blue hair..." was the only thing he could say at first. There was a moment of silence, he could see the tears swell in her eyes. "I'm sorry, there's nothing wrong with him from my knowledge but I want to talk to you about him." The woman had seemed to appeared to be slightly relieved in Liam's final statement. She had asked them inside and offered to make them some tea.
Liam wasn't going to be rude and decline her offer. While she was preparing the tea she was ushering her children to another room to play, while she was busy Liam had looked at Aria for a moment before talking to her. "I know this is an extremely difficult moment for me, but if you would rather spend time with the children I would understand." He slowly brought his hands together, his thumbs fidgeting with each other. He had known she had a different plan to explain who they were, but thinking about meeting the Kailas family he couldn't bring himself to lie to them.

Liam got closer to her and the wyvern rider felt herself tense up. She straightened her back a bit and did her best to appear strong, calm, and collected. But, her palms were sweaty and her mouth was dry. Even though the gears in her head were turning and thinking of what to do should the theoretical wyvern- excrement rain down upon them, in the form of an angry family. She kind of wanted to give Liam a hug but knew that was something he would hate. She knew he viewed humans as a sort of lesser life-form. His reasons for that were justified. A war that nearly ended in the extinction of his race would do that. But, here he was, pulling her closer towards him. She was being his literal shoulder to lean on. Be the pillar. She wanted to say something a bit more inspiring. But, the words wouldn't come out. The door infront of them opened to reveal an older woman. A woman who reminded Aria of her own mother.
She was about to greet the woman in front of her but Liam beat her to the punch. With a rather tactless comment. The reaction the Mother gave upon learning that something might have happened to her son, caused a stir within Aria. A sudden, urge, to sit down and write a letter back home to her own mother. Fortunately, for both of them Liam sort of saved the conversation, by stating nothing was wrong with the boy. The woman responded by offering the dynamic duo an opportunity to come inside and have some tea. Something, that Aria was happy to oblige with.
"Tea would be wonderful, thank you. My name is Aria and this is Liam. And the wyvern with me is Chewy." With the introductions out of the way. Both, her and Liam made their way inside. And it was at this moment Aria rememebred about Chewy. The big brick of a wyvern that had served as their ride and third ranger. The wyvern was just.. casually following the duo into the house. Or at the very least she tried to. The big red wyvern got as far as sticking her head in through the door way before Aria had to turn around and stop her. She knew Chewy would find a way to fit herself into things that were too small for her.
"Chew.. what are you doing?" She asked the wyvern. The wyvern tried to push her head in further into the door. But, instead found herself pusing her big head into Aria's small chest.
"I know you want to be supportive.. or just.. curious... but you don't fit here girl. Why don't you find a nice sunny patch of grass nearby and curl up for a nap." Aria spoke to her wyvern gently. While patting her head and rubbing her chin.
"Please." Aria pleaded gently. Chew let out a snort from her nose and gave the rider a lick on the face. The wyvern backed up from the doorway and turned around. The wyvern took a moment to gauge her surroundings and found a suitable patch of land right by the door. The wyvern stomped around lightly, spun around in a small circle. Her tail swept away any bits and bobs that might make the dirt floor uncomfortable. She then plopped right down in her designated space. Stretched slightly. And let out a comfortable sigh.
Aria then returned back to Liam. Who proceeded to ask her a difficult question. She relaxed her shoulders slightly and looked at him. She shook her head.
"Nope. Can't be your support system if i'm watching a bunch of kids. I said i'm sticking by you and I mean it. Unless something happens to Chew." You are not getting rid of me that easily.

Sol had been born a wild wyvern, he had given up his 'freedom' for a scent that he recognized from when he had came out of his egg. In a hostile situation he would fight anything but this wyvern outside of his best friend's house wasn't something to fight. It was something to play with though, he had approached Chew as somebody he can play with. Liam's hand was wrapped around Aria's, he was doing his best to hold back his strength. He didn't want to crush her hand, she was his support. When it came to humans, Aria was the only one he had trusted, he had hoped she would give him the same amount of trust he gave her about what he was about to say.
"The Kailas family can be traced to a man named Julius Kailas. He had used a sword and a shield, the family treasures had eventually split between two factions. Julius had been adopted by two dragons, when his adopted mother had died in a fight his father lost an eye, the two fought furiously for her. The two had grown apart, but they both blamed his father for her death. They had even fought to the death once, the father had hoped Julius would had killed him but was spared.
"Julius' family line was something to be proud of, even after the split." Liam had paused, he was fighting back tears at this point. Based on what he had told Aria he knew she would be able to connect the dots. "What does this have to do with Hal?" the woman had asked.
Liam leaned forward, with both hands together now. "I saw him recently, I saw him with that shield. I know where to find the other half of it, and the original design." The woman leaned in forward to meet Liam's gaze. "And how do I know you're not lying?"

Chewy enjoyed the moment of peace. She was about to close her eyes and take a nap. But, her little nap was interrupted by the approach of the other wyvern. The same one that had been watching them upon the trio's arrival. Chewy was a little nervous. She didn't want to pick a fight with this wyvern. The brick colored wyvern knew better than to stir up trouble. Or else Aria would be cross with her, and that usually meant no treats for a week. Chewy really liked her treats. The red wyvern let out a bit snort as she eventually peeled herself off the dirt floor. She stretched a bit, then sat down. She had her tail curled around her feet. She was wanted to play but knew she had to be cautious.
Inside the house though things were getting tense. She never saw Liam become so.. emotional before. She did know a little bit about his history and with that of the Julius. She really couldn't remember if Liam ever told her all of the details. She had her suspicions. But, now she had the proof. This Julius was once someone very close to Liam. And if she had to wager a guess, Liam was probably Julius' dad. Oh.. you poor thing. She couldn't imagine what sort of situation would have brought that on. She sometimes fought with her own old man.. but never anything that intense for a duel to the death. The woman of the house was naturally suspicious of his story. And she didn't blame her. While she believed Liam's story because she knew Liam. The hostess didn't have any reason to believe them. To her, these two, were total strangers, in her home. Telling her strange stories about her son's ancient heirlooms. Liam let go of her hand and changed his position.
"We both saw your son at the wyvern festival." She spoke to the older woman.
And how do I know you're not lying?
"You don't." Aria spoke up. She wasn't sure where she was going with this. But, she knew she couldn't let Liam, do anything dragon-y. That would make things worse. Then shrugged.
"But, we wouldn't have come all this way, if it wasn't true."

Liam's mind flashed back to the time Julius was sent to slay him. The dragon was powerless while the human sat up top of him throwing punch after punch upon his face. Each blow he could feel not only the rage but the sorrow that fueled his son's attacks. Liam's family name living on through a 'lesser being', a decision that he had originally wanted to argue against. It was at that point he had come to terms he was wrong, even though deep down he knew that years prior.
Liam was deeply moved by Aria's attempts to come to his defense "As a parent I understand the fear of outliving your child. It's a pain than not many people will experience, while my child came to me through adoption I cannot compare my experience to the same feeling of outliving the child that came to them through natural reasons. I know of the Kalias origins, as well as Julius, because I was there for it. I've been cursed by my race, dying by old age is a rare among us in the outside world."
Liam had heard the woman begin to talk but he used his free hand to flip up his eye patch and kept his eyelid open to reveal his dragon stone. It was amber in color, there was red line spinning inside of it. "I had watched the split in the Kailas family from a distance. I've seen the fall of half of his linage as well as the prosperity of the other before I lost myself in time. I could prove my claims, but based on what I've encountered in this town I rather not draw attention to you people." The woman was mid-word when Liam had cut her off, her jaw had dropped lower when he had shown his stone. She had slowly shut her mouth, there was a look in her eye that Liam knew all too well, one of fear, as she looked towards Aria.
Sol had his wings spread out facing this new wyvern. He was honking at it but there wasn't any response. He was hopping around in place, he had folded his wings when it had wrapped it's tail around it's feet. Sol had snorted as he spun in place before sitting, facing this new wyvern. He had let out a groan as he whipped his tail to kick up some dust. He had slowly stuck his head out towards the other wyvern sniffing, he smelled human and though it would want to play, but it didn't want to.

Aria stood by Liam all through out his explanation. And while she knew the truth of his dragon origins, she felt that his explanation was more than suitable to convince this older woman. She was glad that Liam was careful with his wording and later she could kick herself for mentally doubting him. She watched him as he raised his eyepatch and showed off the dragon stone. The source of his power. And she was a little surprised to see it, but then quickly removed look of surprise with a bit more of a serious one. All this time I thought his socket was empty. She glossed at the older woman across from them and realized that she had to say something afterwards. This woman was afraid of Liam. And she had a right to be. It's not everyday a timeless being sits down in front of you with a story to tell about the legacy of your family origin.
"I understand that this.. is a lot to take in. And.. yes.. it's kind of scary. I was a little nervous too." Still kind of am.
"And you.. are entitled to take some time to try and process all of what was just said. Sit down, breathe, sip some tea." She suggested. But, she did not move from Liam's side.
"But, rest assured ma'am even through all of this, we mean no harm. We just want to restore the ancient Kailas relics. And perhaps, even learn a little about you, your son, and your family. The journey would probably give this old man some closure for his centuries long lament." She sighed softly. --
Chewy uncurled her tail from her around her feet. She reciprocated Sol's chirps with little playful chirps of her own. She let him sniff her and then stuck her neck and body out to smell Sol in return. He was definitely someone's wyvern. Though the scent of the rider wasn't any one's she was familiar with. And she was familiar with the scent of a whole lot of humans. Most of them being Aria, Liam, and all of Aria's family members back home. With the initial sniff greeting over, Chewy stretched out a wing. Then tucked it back in. She sort of shimmied her body into a bit more of a downwards dog position. Her tail swept the ground behind her for a bit. And she was ready to lunge in for a playful wrestling match.

"I..." the woman paused. "You need to leave, now." she had said in a shaken tone. "I'm sorry" the dragon replied with as he turned towards the exit. "I had never intended to burden you nor that boy with the knowledge of the Kailas lineage, I had saw a relic that reminded me of my chi-"
"I SAID LEAVE" Liam was cut off by Hal's mother, Liam was reaching for the door knob when she had shouted that he leave and he stopped for a second before giving her another apology before leaving the home. Once outside he had waited a moment for Aria to catch up and shut the door, in the two's time together he had a look of defeat, even if she was seeing him from behind. His head appeared to be looking at the ground as his shoulders slumped. As much as he wanted to talk to Aria at this point, he was too upset and let his feet shuffle forward. While he walked towards the building marked as the inn he listened to what Aria had to say before mumbling to the inn keeper for a room for two, with separate beds.
Once in the room, Aria could look him in the eye. He had been crying since being kicked out the Kalias' home, it would had been impossible to hide the fact at this point. His movements prior was a clue, but he couldn't hide that fact from his close friend now. Sitting on the edge of his bed while staring at the ground Liam began to open up to Aria. "Julius had risked his life to safe his mother... My wife... That boy saw us as his parents despite us being dragons yet he was a human. Hell, my wife felt the same but it took me until her death and our first encounter after that to understand how they both felt." Liam let out a deep sigh, "I cannot blame how that boy's mother reacted, I think if I was a human in her situation I'd react in the same way."
Sol wasn't use to other wyverns that wanted to play, seeing Chewie's response to him he kept his head stuck out towards her as he rose to his feet. He wasn't use to a trained wyvern so when Chewie raise one wing he shown her both of his. Sol kept his eyes on her tail as she was waving it in a playful movement. He'd jump towards it as it waved to him and backed away when she pulled her tail away.

"You need to leave now." Well Sh*t
Aria winced a bit at those words. She knew at this point there would be no reasoning with this woman. And could she blame her, the news the parent just received was rather shocking. She held Liam's arm as he tried desperately to speak more. Aria tugged at the old dragon's arm, she shook her head. No. Just. Stop talking. You are going to make the situation worse.
"I SAID LEAVE!"
Aria mentally sighed. She knew this reaction well. It was the same reaction she was used to seeing as she grew up. The same reaction she had from her own parents, when she refused to be married off, and tried to explain that she just wanted to have a life of a solider like her brother. Let me choose my life! Another time, it was when she refused to have Chewy sold off to the military. Chewy is mine! She closed her eyes briefly, then collected herself. Be strong Aria. Liam managed to wriggle out of his grip and made his way towards the door. Aria frowned slightly, she took a deep breath in, and let it out. She glanced at the woman.
"Please.. just relay the truth to your son. And let him make the decision for himself if he wants to seek us out. We will be in the area for a day or two. And... I'm sorry." She bowed her head slightly, before making her way out. She looked up at Liam, who looked miserable. She wanted to say something to him, to help. But she was at a loss for words. Instead she simply looked around for Chewy.
The wyvern was having a grand old time playing with the other wyvern in the property. She was bouncing around the place trying to get the other wyvern to play wrestle. Aria shook her head lightly and whistled. Chewy perked up and ran towards the pair of them. She was so caught up in her excitement she nearly crashed into Liam, but Aria jumped in, and the wyvern stopped in her tracks.
"No. No. Chew. Shh.." Aria wrapped her arms around the wyvern's head.
"Easy there. Come on. We gotta go." She spoke to the wyvern softly. Chewy glanced back to Liam. She made some sort of whine, then she looked back up at Aria. The wyvern blew a breath through her nose in a scoff then calmed down. The wyvern followed the pair of humans off the grounds but not before running off to give a playful headbutt to her hew wyvern friend. Aria made a suggestion to stay at the Inn for the time being.
"You know it's not up to her to decide. It's up to her son." She told Liam, then walked with him in awkward silence. --
As Liam made arrangements for the room. Aria was left to make arrangements for everything else. She left Liam in his room momentarily. She had to make sure Chewy was fed and comfortable. The red wyvern was visibly concerned over Liam. As the wyvern did it's best to try and maneuver it's way towards the room he was in. Much to Aria and the Inn owner's charging.
"Once, again Chewy. You can't come inside. No. You can't stick around the outside part of the room either. You have to stay here in the wyvern area." Aria explained. As she did her best push Chewy into the designated wyvern stall. The large red wyvern wouldn't budge. The rider sighed and eventually bribed the wyvern into the pen with a pieces of jerky.
"I'll come back and tell you how he's doing in the morning Chew. Please.. behave." Aria spoke to Chewy as she gently de-saddled her. She made sure there was a trough of freshwater, and some meat for her to eat. And with the big red wyvern taken care of. Aria knew she needed to deal with the other non human in her life. She was still at a real loss for words. What could she tell him? Aria sighed softly and returned to the room. But, not before buying two bowls of stew and a few pieces of bread. She figured, Liam might not be in the mood to eat. But, she was starving, and sometimes she just thought better after eating.
The rider put the bowls down on a nearby table in the room. She kicked off her shoes and removed her armor. She stretched a bit and did what she could to make herself comfortable. Then she got down to business. Liam had been crying. Which was something she thought he couldn't do. Aria had it in her head that he was just kind of resistant to these sort of emotions. He was a man.. and a dragon. And she didn't know anything about how they processed grief. And she wasn't used to seeing men cry. Her brothers and fathers were always so absorbed into their work, that she never really saw them cry. She remembered asking her mother why the boys never cried, 'Men are supposed to be rocks. They are the foundation of the family. If they waver then the whole family will crumble.'
As Liam spoke, Aria took a spoonful of stew and popped it in her mouth. She swallowed what she had and then ate another spoonful. After the third bite she paused to say something.
"I'll be honest. I have no idea what to tell you. Except that I agree. What you told her was very hard. Harder than a sack full of rocks and probably twice as heavy. And her reaction.. was appropriate. Mean. But appropriate." She stopped to eat more stew.
"There isn't much else we can do other than hope. Hope that the woman decides to tell her son what happened. And let him come to us. And really hope that this doesn't come back to bite us in the ass." She briefly imagined an angry mob armed with torches ready to burn the inn down. We are already kind of not welcome here. She ripped off a piece of bread and ate it.
"I won't ask you to start from the beginning. As I feel that.. is not the best thing to talk about right now. But, I think.. you should talk about what you are feeling...and what you feel you have to do."

As Liam sat on the edge of the bed, head hanging low and let out another sigh. The old dragon had been far too use to living the hermit life, going on with his life without any sort of relationship with anyone, he would have thought rejection wouldn't effect him but boy was he wrong.
"You think by now I'd be detached from emotions." Liam pushed out a fake chuckle to try to hide how he felt to little effect. "When you've been alive as long as I have, survived a genocidal war, then spent your life in hiding everything you know and love becomes past tense. You try to separate yourself from your emotions because they'll stick with you longer than the world around you yet it doesn't make losing something you wish to have to rekindle the past."
Liam thought about the last thing Aria had said before asking what he was feeling, he stood up and walked over to where the woman was sitting and placed a hand on her shoulder. "We should be fine for the time being, a mother isn't going to prod a sleeping bear if her children's safety will be put at risk. Even if things went south, I'm fairly confident I have the strength to get us out of here just fine. As far as what I feel like I have to do, I need to reunite those relics even if it takes centuries."
Liam pulled his hand back as he slowly said centuries, deep down he always knew he'd outlive Aria when their friendship had began but it was something he refused to actively think let alone say out loud, especially in front of her.
Meanwhile at the Kalias home, Hal's mother was more visibly shaken after the encounter and unknowingly one of the older children was eavesdropping on the conversation. The daughter came around the corner and looked at her mother, "Mom, I'm sorry..." The girl had hugged her mother "I'm sorry but I have to try to find that man before he leaves, if what he says is true that would make Hal happy, we both know he needs it." From there the girl ran off into the town in search of Aria and Liam.
Liam had taken a seat next to Aria, some time had passed before the sounds of someone knocking on the door lightly could be heard.

"You aren't a monster Liam. Only monsters have no emotions." She sighed softly.
"You remind me of a few of the old veterans back in the army. Old souls who have seen far too much." She closed her eyes for a moment. She wished her older brother would retire the lance before he became that kind of old soul. That her brother would spend the rest of his days with the love of his wife and kids. War has a way of changing people Aria. The woman opened her eyes and just stared at her remaining food for a moment. Liam approached her and put his hand on her shoulder.
"Thank you. For the reassurance." She smiled softly. She went to make a motion to hug only to stop a quarter of the way. Then sighed again and tried to resume eating her food.
"Either way, I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight." She was concerned for Liam, but, there were also so many things that needed to get done. Maintenance of her armor and weapon were two things. She knew Chewy was going to sleep through the night, maybe even wake the whole outside of the barn with her snoring. She knew the wyvern was tired from all the flying. And despite her protest Aria was also tired herself. But, her brain was on fire thinking about what the next move would be.
"Well you wanna get those relic's together. Then Me and Chewy are going to help you in any way we can. I suppose.. the next thing we can do in the mean time.. is track the other relic. A sword yeah? You got any idea where to start?" Aria wasn't familiar with all of the Bernese territories. But, she knew that Chewy could get them anywhere that they needed to go. And having a wyvern along with worn but serviceable knight's armor was kinda sorta like a passport through most towns and cities. She hoped. The rider finished her meal and set the empty bowl aside.
"Also.. if you don't eat that. I will." Aria pointed to Liam's bowl of soup. --
Some time had passed. Aria had spent the better part of that time trying to occupy herself. She at some point changed into her sleep ware. She was tending to her standard clothes. She had a sewing needle and thread in her hand and was busy stitching a tear that had been in her shirt. Aria wasn't raised in a barn. Her mother drilled into her all of the responsibilities and tasks of house work and husbandry. She tied up the last stitch, shook the shirt, then examined her handy work. Then she there was the knock at the door. She looked at Liam for a moment, then got up and grabbed her lance.
"Just incase." She mouthed silently. The blue haired woman approached the door.
"Who?"
