That Morning...
Mike awoke that morning, refreshed, and no thoughts on moving out of Ostia. At that, he went to do his morning rituals, and went straight downstairs. He didn't see anyone at all for the breakfast, so he could he alone. He never liked eating with others. Mike couldn't trust anyone. As Mike was waiting for his waiter, and his aquaintesse, he saw a flier on the board. As Mike examined it, it didn't describe him at all. This was good, he didn't need anymore attention than he already got sometimes. As Mike was inspecting the flier, he realized it was a criminal on the loose, with a bounty on his head. Mike had an idea. If I catch this guy, he thought, Perhaps it would be "appealing to the laws better side." As he thought about it, the more he like the plan. He then continued on reading the flier, and he found just what he wanted. "Will accept Dead or Alive." This was Mike's specialty.

As Mike was now enjoying his breakfast, he saw Emma come down. She seemed really tired, and this came to know surprise to Mike. He was the same way, a long long time ago... Emma interrupted his thoughts when she said good morning, then asking how he slept. Mike and Emma talked for a while. And Mike learned some new things from Emma. since Mike was not at all the social type, he mostly listened to Emma. She did talk for a long time. Yet, interruptions always came sooner or later, and this time, it was in the form of George. "Mike, I gots a new job for ya." Mike was silent, and was intently listening. "I think it's time for you to go on a specific job. You see that flier over there? Well, it's a wanted fliar, and I want you to get the guy. I know you saw it, 'cause I was watchin' yew! HA! Gotcha naew... hehehe..." and at that, George disappeared behind the bar. It was strange how Mike found so many weird people. Criminals or not criminals, he still found them.
After Emma got done eating, they left out the back, and walked into the streets. Mike walked very fast, and at one point, had to stop for Emma. After that, they looked around some more. Mostly, Emma looked in the crowd, and Mike looked down the alleys. They continued that for a while, then they took a break. Both Emma and he was tired, so they stopped at some place that wasn't very populated. Mike was relatively happy for it.

It was later that day, when they had a stroke of luck in their findings. Mike saw a group of bandits away from them. They didn't look like they were going to attack, so Mike beckoned to Emma to follow, silently. As Mike was close to the group, the bandits were into their conversation so much, they didn't even notice Mike. "Aww man, boss, looks likes yew got one of dem 'Wanted' tings! Whada we doos?" "All I have do do is hang luw, cause dem Ostian gaurds neva care about de Eastern parts of tawn, hehehe." "Oka den, buoss!" At that, the group of bandits left, and Mike followed, with Emma tagging along. The group led the couple of newfound assassins to a little door down an alley way Mike never used. Maybe now I have a bit more business... he thought to himself. His thoughts were interrupted with a muffled scream. As Mike looked into a window, he saw a woman bound to a chair, gagged, and with a blindfold on. The fire was dancing in his eyes now, and Mike began to feel angry. The adrenaline was flickering through him, just about to start. He heard Emma say something, but he didn't care. He merely replied, "you stay behind me, and I'll go up close." Thats when he busted through the door. As he did, all the bandits were caught off guard. There were four brigands, including the boss. And each were not that skilled. Now it made since of why the bandit was wanted; he must have kidnapped someone of high importance. While the bandits were still stone cold, Mike charged.

The fight started with Mike's first move. He made a mad dash to the closest one, and swiped at him with the dagger. It only cut his arm, but it made the brigand yelp in surprise, and pain. The bandit got angry, and tried to throw his axe at Mike. Hand Axe? In a room? This is sure easy... The birgand, who threw his axe, realized that it would get stuck in the wall. It did, and by that time, the others realized that their lives were at stake. So, two of them ran upstairs, and left one to help the disarmed bandit. Mike saw this, and made a fake slash at the disarmed bandit, and got the other brigand right in the stomach. The bandit, with the dagger in his stomach looked down in horror, as Mike twisted it to get the dagger out. The birgand slumped over, dead. As the other one was about to get his axe, Emma had shot a ball of fire at the bandit, and barely missed. It burned a little of the arm that Mike slashed at, causing the birgand to fall over, in sheer pain. Mike took the opportunity, and slashed at the bandits exposed back, killing him instantaneously. Mike, after killing the bandits, took a bit of the dead bandits shirt, and whipped his dagger. It wasn't the cleanest, but he decided he would clean it thoroughly, later. For now, he put the bodies in the farthest corner, so if someone looked through the window, they would not see them. Now, he had to think, and he had to do it quickly. The bandits were upstairs, and, unfortunately, with a hostage. Mike sat to formulate a plan. A plan to save another person, and himself.

As Mike was thinking, he suddenly realized he had the advantage of using a longer ranged attack. Not him, but Emma. He then told Emma to attack to wards the stairs. She looked confused, but obeyed. As she did, the fire spread everywhere. It didn't catch the whole stairway on fire, and that was exactly what he wanted. He bolted up the stairs, knowing that if he slowed down just a bit, he would be burned. As he did, he knocked over the one birgand. He must have been on guard, and now, he failed. Mike then went straight to wards the room that had it's door open. As he looked in, he saw the wanted bandit, who was in total shock. It was obvious that the criminal was not prepared to fight. Mike took that advantage over his opponent, and dash at him with a lunge. The birgand dodged, however, even though he got his right arm cut. The bandit got his axe, and took a hard swing at Mike. Luckily, it was a bit higher than it was supposed to be, or the live hostage wouldn't be so live. As the bandit recovered from swinging a bit to hard, he noticed that the thief was gone, and the smoke was entering the room. He turned his head to the left, and then to the right. He didn't see the thief. That was, until, he felt the dagger slash into his back. Then another slash near his shoulder blades, and then the one through his neck. Mike kicked under his legs, so the dead bandit would drop back wards, as he did. Mike wasted no time. He untied the woman, leaving the blindfold on. He then navigated her, in a very fact and harsh manor, to wards, and then down the stairs. When they got down, Mike brushed himself, and the woman, so there were no embers. As the woman took off her blindfold, she saw no one. Then she saw the corpses in the corner. Then she screamed. Yet, even though she had no reason to scream, she did. She let all her emotions out at that time, and she let everyone know them.
Mike, who was running down the alley with Emma, heard those screams too. He merely chuckled, however, knowing how mean that would seem. But he felt that he had done a good deed. And perhaps he was home free, and may have earned respect from the law.

As Mike was running down the alley, he looke back, to make sure Emma was with him. Strangely, she wasn't, and that got Mike woorried. Perhaps I might have left her behind... he thought to himself. He then stopped and waited for her. It was five minutes until he heard her. Yet, she wasn't alone, and she was coming fast. There was no where to hide, so he waited, which was never his favorite decition. Also, it wasn't the smartest. Emma was coming at him, with a group of partol officers. Just soldiers witha different name, but still with the spears. As Mike saw the group, it suddenly hit him. Emma had gotten smart, and looked at the rewards on the wanted fliers; including the one he had. She was going to take all the credit, and he was going to be put to death. But not if he had anything to say about it. He saw Emma, five soldiers, and one way out. So he ran. He ran like he never ran before. He didn't trip or stumble, he just ran. He ran down the alley, and occasionally, tried to avoid the fire balls come after him as well. And all that time, the only thing going through his mind was, I can't believe I didn't see it coming. Yet there was hope for him yet. The group who were in persuit were slowing down. Yet Mike kept going on. As he did, he saw an escape route. He saw the end of the alley, opening into an empty street. Smiling his devilish grin, the fire sparkling in his eyes, he went out into the street, and decided which way he needed to go. A left would be straight to wards the palace, and into Etruria, a right, out of Ostia, into Laus.
He took a right.

As Mike was running down the street, he remembered tht he couldn't just leave the city. He had to get some supplies to live by. And, as fate would have it, Mike was also going to be passing George's inn. He would stop there for a bit. When Mike reached the inn, he busted through the door, at the same time, startling George. "what da-?!" "Can't talk," Mike said, hurriedly. He rushed up the stairs, knowing exactly what he needed. It took him three seconds, tops. At that, Mike rushed down the stairs, out the door, and down the street once more. As he was running, he saw that it was evening, and it was going to be a clear night. He smiled, fate was sure on his side. He probably would run into any trouble. Nothing was going to-. He was cut short when an arrow zipped by him. Now, that luck and fate were turning against him, he began to feel weary, tired, and a cramp was beginning to start. Mike, was giving it his all, and it was going to have to be good enough. He now left the streets, and onto the grass. At least 10 yards away, the forest line. He was almost there now. And so was something else. A cavalier, a soldier of Ostia, was coming at him. Mike looked back, to see the cavalier had some ways to go. Either way, Mike had to get to the trees. He made it, just in time to dodge the javelin the cavalier threw, by slumping to the ground. He quickly got up, and stumbled his way through the trees. He heard the cavalier yelling in anger, but he couldn't care less. Mike was given a chance at a new life, new home, and a new job.

Mike was deep into the forest, unseen by the guards, with a cozy fire in front of him. He was still trying to understand why they wanted to kill him. Did he do something wrong? Did he slip p too many times? Had they always known where he was, and waited to strike? The thoughts ran through his head like wildfire. As he was thinking, he realized that going to Laus wasn't such a great thing. Laus was in a better state than Ostia. He had heard of a war with Bern, tehn some other thing that had happened, but that was all he had on that information. Rumours. So, Mike made a decision, once again. He had to go back through Ostia, and get to Etruria. But not without paying a little visit.

Mike was sneaking in the shadows, passing guards who were patrolling. There would be no bandits about, as this was now a more enforced area. Thinking on it now, Mike still thought it was a miracle how he distracted the guards; throwing a rock into some bushes away from him. Now, he saw his destination. George's in was perfect for entering, but not through the front. He had to slip in the backway, as always. He then turned to his right, down the familiar alley, seeing the door, then rush to it, silently. He tried to open it, but it wasn't working. Then he realized, he had to be the worse thief in the world. He had no lock-pick. Mike cursed to himself, but only to soon. He heard someone coming to wards the door. He ducked behind it, so he was unseen to the one opening it. The person coming out, was George. He was fiddling through the junk out in the alley, looking for something. At this time, Mike quietly snuck in. In a few seconds, George followed after. When George closed, and locked, the door, Mike's dagger went to George's neck, only centimeters away. "Don't talk, "began Mike, "Or your throat won't be where it belongs." George was silent, and then said, "Yew figered it out, didn't yew..." Mike was silent, waiting for an explanation. George began. "I took yew in as my future money-maker. 'Thought yew'd be famous to the street folk. Yew were, jus' not to da law, dat's all. So I'ben keepin track of dem fliars. They gives out lotsa money for yew, so I gots ta tinkin'. Well, I waited, then told Emma what to do when I was sur yew wasn't listenin'. It worked, obviously, how a comon foke gotsa trick yew, ha!" Mike cut him off, by the throat.

As Mike left the body in a dark corner, knowing it would be discovered sooner than later, he slipped down the hallway that lead into the bar. As he was at the entrance, he heard voices. Mike crept down low, and looked, making sure he was not seen, or heard. He saw a soldier, talking to someone who was robed. The robes were bluish, and the voice was female. Then, Mike realized that the person was Emma, the turn-coat. He then listened to the rest of the conversation. "Are you sure he is not in Ostia?" "Yes ma'am. He is diffidently in the forest. We have scout's in there right now. If I may inquire in the previous topic, are you sure that this man, the 'Noble Thief', he is not so noble, and will hold hostages?" "Yes, he is a wretched man, wanting ever thing for himself. Make sure, however, that you are not tricked by his silver tongue, as he will say anything to get out of his situation, or any situation at that matter." "Thank you ma'am, I shall be on my way." At that, the soldier left, leaving Emma, alone. Mike wanted revenge, but he did not want to take his time. He would do the process very fast. As Emma's back was to him, he snuck up behind her, without a sound, then grabbed her, covering her mouth, and her arms at her sides. "Don't make a sound," he demanded coldly, as he lead her upstairs. He knew where the ropes were, and he had a gag with him. Once she was tied up, he lent to wards her, as she tried to scream. Mike then demanded, "Why did you betray me like this? How could you have lied to the soldiers, making me look like a monster? Why!?" She tried to scream again, but the gag was tight, and she was still quiet. As she tried to scream, he had an idea of how to truly torture her. Yet, he threw the thought away, knowing only a beast of a bandit would do such a thing. "I am not the villain," Mike started angered, "you are!" At the end of his sentence, he slash at her stomach. The wound was deep, and Emma was still in shock. Then, he slashed again, just a bit higher. That finished the turn-coat of a mage.
