They arrived at the infirmary quickly. Lyndsey watched as several Bernese healers bustled around Alan, applying heal and mend staffs judiciously. Her mind wandered, drifting to the possible future. They were with Bern now, that was for certain. What else did the future hold though? She shifted uncomfortably again, hoping that Alan would awaken soon.

Alan had drifted between the life and death as he was taken back to the castle but as the priests tended to him he started to regain conciousness. 'Urgh, Lyn... Sey...' Alan muttered in his sleep with an effort.

Lyndsey blinked and walked over to Alan's side. "Lady..." a priest began. She shot him a glare, and he stopped. "Heal him. Or Bern will find some new healers," she stated.

Alan woke up the next morning finding Lyndsey sleeping resting her head on the side of the bed. Making an effort not to disturb her Alan sat strighter up and looked at the window. The mountain view told him they were back in the castle. Alan felt strangely at peace about ending Lumino's life. All in all, he had the kid a favor. Had I aided him in killing Kenshin Katara would have hated them for it. Lumino could never have borne that. But now, he had to think about themselves. 'So how about you get me some breakfast already.' Alan said loudly as too wake Lyndsey up.

Lyndsey stirred at Alan's boisterous tone. her eyes slit open and she smiled evilly at Alan. "Bite me," she stated, rising from her seat seat. She stretched. "You better yet? Or do I have to strip you and start rubbing healing herbs on your body?"

'All I needed was the sound of your sweet voice.' Alan said sarcastically. 'But we can alway try.' Alan added hopefully falling back into the bed.

Tempting... but... "Keep dreaming," she snorted. Really tempting. "A servant would probably come in and embarrass you. Or I'd die of laughter." She smirked.

'Then I guess that it's time to get back to business.' Alan said seriously. 'Let's see Mister Ashton again.'

Lyndsey nodded. "This should be an interesting conversation. Your armor is over there," she pointed to where the servants had carefully laid out Alan's gear. Then, she moved to the door and waited.

Alan got out of bed and dressed himself. He walked over to the door and said. 'Alright, I'm ready. Let's hope that we can find a way out of this business relatively unscathed.'

Lyndsey shrugged. "He betrayed Bern, not us," she pointed out. She tactfully left off the part about Alan being a deserter from Bern's forces. She exited the room, following a servant to the meeting room she'd first met Lord Ashton in. She looked over at Alan, then walked in.

That's not the business I was talking about. Alan thought remorsefully. He hadn't expected her too understand what it meant to work for Bern. And if he played this right, she would never have too. Alan followed her into the room.

Lord Ashton waited inside, surrounded by several of Bern's leading military minds. Lyndsey was instantly reminded of the Ilian ruling council. Each member had earned there space on that body through leadership and combat. yet some of these Bernese leaders looked soft and squishy. "Greetings Sir Alan, Lady Lyndsey," Lord Ashton flashed his false smile. He motioned for the two warriors to sit down. Lyndsey didn't move. "A pity Lord Lumino will not be joining us," Ashton continued. Lyndsey remained stoic. Lord Ashton turned to Alan. "Are you eager to reinstate yourself as a true son of Hartmut? You have grown much in your absence, and we are eagerly looking forward to having you lead our forces into battle."
OoC: I figure Lord Ashton's probably going to try and trick Alan into working for Bern... seeing as Alan is an incredible badass...

This is has to be the best acting performance I have yet to give. Or it's all over. 'I assure you, Lord Ashton. I never stopped being a true son of Hartmut, and if I have I didn't stray from my true path intentionally. I left under the belief that the bandits were the true threat that our country faced. I fought ferociously to stay them from gaining to much power in Lycia. When I learned of their allegiance to his Royal Majesty I started living a lie, but my honor as a knight prevented me from leaving the friends I had made. But, my Lords I see clearer now. I know that my heart should always have been with Bern. I only beg of you a chance to prove myself to my Kingdom once again.'

Lord Ashton seemed impressed by Alan's speech. Lyndsey thought it the biggest load of bullshit she'd ever heard. "Well, you have already proven yourself once of late, in dealing with the regrettable situation involving Lord Lumino," Lord Ashton looked appropriately mournful. Lyndsey almost laughed. "I am certain there will be ample opportunity for both you and Lady Lyndsey to prove yourselves as true warriors of Bern." The smile returned. "Perhaps you can begin by training our forces. The debacle at Santaruz has shown us to be woefully unprepared for any action. And, perhaps, we may have a mission for stalwart warriors such as yourselves." He templed his fingers.
OoC: Gee, thanks for making me do all the work as Ashton....
