"Nah, I lived in Pherae, and enlisted there. We went ta Nabata... and there's kinda someone there I'm missin' some. 'sides, it'll be nice to disappear for a while," Matthias smiled. Dying once made him feel ol now.

"It must have been important for you to travel from Ostia to Nabata. I mean, what of importance is out in that dessert?"
Aerious had been to Nabata once a very long time ago, but he didn't stay long, the sand was irritating.

Matthias looked over at Matis, wondering just how much he should tell Aerious. They were fighting on the same side... but... "We had to meet someone out there. Someone really important..." he stated, speaking truth, sort of.

He's not going to tell me easily...so I was right, there is more they know...
"Well, if you don't want to tell me it's ok, I'm sure you have your reasons as well. Anyway, we'd better get some sleep so we make good time tomorrow."
And with that he rolled over and went to sleep, wondering just what it was Matthias had almost said...

Matis nodded to Matthias once Aerious had turned around. They had better not tell him anything for the moment. He could know about the dead heroes, but telling him or anyone of the existence of dragons, Arcadia and the long-living Athos would have been far too much.
"You better get some sleep too", he said, and reminded Matthias that he would take the second watch.
Matis just stargazed for a couple of hours. Everything was calm. It would have been weird to encounter anyone in the middle of the snowy plains, anyway.

Leave it to the Sacean to give him the worse watch of all. Oh well, not like he couldn't handle it. Matthias went to sleep almost immediately after Matis's nod. He was more tired than he'd thought he was... He started snoring.

Time went by, Matis stargazing, and Aerious not even bothered by Matthias' loud snoring. They had shifted turns twice during the night, not even waking Aerious up. Matthias didn't seem to know him well, and Matis simply wouldn't trust a newcomer with their lives so easily.
"Hey you two, time to get going" he said, poking them with the Mani Katti's scabbard, pointing to the fire so they'd get something to eat, as he had gone hunting early in the morning. He knew it wasn't a good idea to leave them alone, but things had gone so smoothly that night that he left them for a good half an hour, catching a deer on his trip through the forest.

Aerious stretched, his yawn sounding more like a low growl. Looking over to the fire he felt hunger in his gut. He just realized that he had not eaten well since he had fought in Ostia. Being in human form used less energy, but his little stint against Roland had given him a monsterous appetite that just caught up to him at the sight of the roasted meat.
"Ah! Thank you!" He said ripping off a rather large chunk of the meat and tearing into it.

Matthias woke more slowly than the other two. He blinked sleep out of his eyes, and saw the roasted deer. "Nothin' like wakin' up to a good meal. You'll make someone a good wife someday, Matis," he joked, slicing a junk off with one of his swords. He ate it quickly.

Matis chuckled at the comment. "Same old Matthias, it seems. Nothing has changed." He himself also grabbed some meat, eating it quickly.
"As soon as you're ready, we'll get on the move". Only half a day more and they would be at Arphen. "We have to make a plan. We can't simply go in and take the high counselor's head without being beheaded by the pegasus knights ourselves."

Munching on the meat Aerious spoke up. "I suppose not, but maybe we can trick them into making the first attack. What if you were to enter asking why Pegasus Knights in your own 'loyal' group tried to kill you. Stir up enough trouble and the High Counselor may decide to attack outright, at which point we can gain sympathizers who believe us. If we make him the aggresor, our chances defiantly go up."
He punctuated this with another tear at the meat.

"So far the heroes have been out ta get us, you know? St. Elimine literally hunted that group down, Roland pretty much issued a challenge..." Matthias finished off his deer, and pulled some dried bread out of cloak. It tasted like foot. "So I don't think it'll be too hard ta flush 'em out."

"Fair enough. Roland wasn't really keen on being subtle, so why should this one?" Aerious snapped a bone in his teeth and tossed it aside. The deer had been mostly picked clean, so he stood up and began packing up camp. "Well, should we head out then?"

"Sure. Just be on your guard. We don't know where he could be."
Barigan, the legendary Paladin...are we up to the task? Sure, Matthias seems to have got away with killing St. Elimine and Roland, but...against someone so versatile?
Finally, Arphen was in sight. Only an hour or two more, and the trio would be within the castle walls. Maybe Aerious' idea wasn't that bad...

"I've never been this far into Ilia..." Matthias mused as Arphen came into view. He half expected Barigan to come riding out of the castle and challenge them to a duel or something.
