In years past it had never been considered a great danger to walk the streets of Etruria, grand city of St. Elimine, by oneself wasn’t considered a dangerous thing. Now even the bravest souls had to think twice about stepping out the door way without maybe a partner watching over for the others back, but now and days it seemed even your closest allies maybe the one to end your own life. It had shifted into such a dark world in so little time all while she was stashed with in library studying various tomes.
Clutching the tome of Luna to her chest the red haired shaman exited the inn she had been staying in, entering the streets once more. No longer a small pupil, she was meant to find her experience somehow in this crazy world. No doubted there was some around every corner but was it a means she wanted to be exposed to? Again she felt her hand tighten around the tome as she continued passing through the streets, bowing her head increasing her pace as she walked.
Unfortunately she wasn’t watching very attentively where exactly she was going, and a collision with someone was inevitable.

Speaking of people not looking where they were going, along comes Janus. He walks down the center of the streets of the city, his mind lost in thought.
"I'll find out who is responsible for all of this, and I'll make them pay, I promise you that!"
Easy to say, but so far trying to gather information discreetly had been harder then he would have imagined. Eturia was on a major religious craze, even for them, and to ask too many questions, or give to many answers, was dangerous.
So now here he was, at another dead end. There had been so many new nobles in positions of power, and old ones dying of 'mysterious circumstances' that it was near impossible to tell who was behind it all. Who had the most to gain from the current panic in Eturia?
In the midst of all these questions he collided with a figure. He stumbled and half tripped a few steps before righting himself and turning around to see the fate of the person he bumped.
"Sorry..." he muttered still distracted.

As her shoulder colided with his the mass of Janus's body being greater then her own, sent Nissa into a small stumble forward. Reaching out the shaman managed to grasp hold once more of the Luna tome which had almost made contact with the ground. Clutching it to her chest she sighed in relief.
Turning herself she noted the young gentleman she happened to collide with instantly an apologetic expression crossing her face obviously seeing that she was in the wrong.
"I'm sorry sir," Nissa insisted approaching him, "I wasn't looking where I was going."

Janus looked up when he heard a female voice addressing him, and a cute one by the sounds of it. He turned back to get a better look at who he bumped.
He saw a girl, obviously, red hair and clad in a dark robe. Now he wasn't to well versed in the magical arts, but he knew a Shaman when he saw one. But a shaman, and a FEMALE shaman wandering the streets of the most religious nation in the world? That was risky enough as it was.
But there would be time enough for that later.
"Oh! I'm sorry." Janus said approaching her. "How rude of me, I should have been paying more attention. Are you all right?"

Relief washed over her as the man turned seeming generally unphased by their little collision. By clothing he didn't fit the mold of any magic practioner, not as if the quiver of arrows on his back wasn't a dead give away to what he was. Warriors in Etruria wasn't uncommon but even some of the most veteran of soldiers were typically magically inclined or they were knights. An archer wasn't out of the question but Etruria liked to rely on magic for such ranged combat.
The rather sincere disposition was something of a saving grace, the one person she happened to run into seemed generally nice. Who knew the consequences had she ran into one of the local tavern's frequent patrons or a high ranking cleric.
"No need to apologize," Nissa smiled faintly, "I wasn't paying much heed to anyone so its just as much my fault." Her hands grasp on her tome visibly loosened as the shaman realized the man wasn't of malicious nature or intent towards her. A single hand even lifted to push back a few stray stands that had fallen forward during their collision. "I am alright, thank you for your concern."
Quickly she gave him another look over, "Are you part of Etruria's forces?"

"Part of the military...well, sort of. It's a bit of a long story." He said with a bit of a grin. "And what about yourself, are you on a pilgrimage from another land, my lady? It's quite uncommon to see a practitioner of your kind of magic around here."
The pair of them on the street were starting to draw some undue attention, and that was one thing that was never good in ANY country.

Briefly her eyes shifted to their current surroundings once more. A dark clad girl talking to an archer in the middle of the street of the single most religious nation in the world, it must of looked bad for him, everyone already knew what she was by clothing alone. Admittedly she dressed a lot simpler then any other Shaman she knew, Nissa had never been much for the the hood and cloak method of the job.
"Well not entirely..." Nissa trailed a little bit, "I'm actually from here in Etruria though I'm supposed to start some sort of pilgrimage, if thats what it is." Gently the mage shook her head the weak smile spreading, "I'm just supposed to experience life from now on and keep my head out of the book in the library... Whatever Reiz meant by that."

"A pilgrimage, alone? They didn't send you with anyone, just a lone girl off into the wilderness alone? Tch, that won't do at all."
Sure he had to gather information about Erturia, that much was true, but to let a young lady walk off alone? That would not do at all!
"So where were you planning on going on this little adventure of yours? Any plans or were you just going to wander until something interesting happened?"

"Typically that is how it happens." Nissa replied after pondering the question for a moment, it did seem rather unorthodox to send a petite girl out on her own into a world like theirs. "It is expected we learn how to survive then again you can imagine there are not normally a great abundence of female shaman pupils they've had to worry about." Majority of female magic users continued on the path of becoming grand mages or they followed the path of St.Elimine to become clerics. "I haven't the slightest clue." Admitting gently with a soft sigh, "Travelling would give me some experience but I have heard stories of the world recently and none of it particularly good either." Again her eyes swept their surrounds, "...People are starting to watch. I apologize, I'm not good company to be seen with."

"A dangerous world out there, yes indeed...say." He snapped his fingers.
"Well then there is only one thing to be done with it! I've got some journeying of my own to do, and I could really use the help of someone knowledgeable in the ways of magic. At first I was going to seek a cleric or a mage, but then I realized. In Erturia, these kinds of magic are well known, so I don't really need anyone with that specialty to help me here. However, Elder Magic.." He made sure to not use the term 'Dark Magic'. "Is something that very few people here know anything about, so you would probably be more knowledgeable about magical phenomenon then most of them!"
"And besides." He added with a grin. "I wouldn't dream of letting a lady walk off into the wilderness without a proper escort."

A pleasantly surprised expression spread across her face as the archer began to suggest some sort of said partnership between the two of. Honestly it made a lot of sense not to mention the idea seemed significantly safer then her running around the area by herself for an extended period of time. Thankfully he danced easily around the true nature of her magic making their masked words a tad less suspicious to anyone trying to hear their conversation.
“I’d be more then willing to assist you if you’d like it. I’ll attempt not to bring a stigma to you…” Still she was rather concerned for his own benefit but if he was willing, “Someone with some combat abilities would be very useful, magic can only get one so far…” Who knew the fate if she had encountered any bandits alone.
“Nissa Avurae…” Letting one hand leave her tome she extended it out towards him, “I apologize for forgetting my manners and not introducing myself.”

"Stigam, hah! Darling the only way they could dislike me for knowing you is out of jealousy."
She held out her hand and he mentally slapped himself. "Ah, of course! Where are my manners? I am Janus Zwei. An honor to meet you Ms. Avurae." He said, taking her hand. She was polite, timid, and cute. What more could he possibly ask for?
"Hmm, still though I'd suggest we get off the street to discuss things, perhaps a plan of action instead of wandering the wilderness without a destination, eh?" He gestured to a nearby tavern.
"Come on, I'll buy."

Post by Cefia on Sept 1, 2008 18:03:46 GMT -6
Cefia spitted angry words towards her parents that she so kindly visited. It should have been a natural thing for anybody to visit their parents. She didn't expect to end up in Etruria, but doing so resulted in this fight. She threw a chair as they tried even more to make her stay with them. They should be happy she left, they had one less mouth to feed plus there business had become much better. Stomping her way out, she practically could have chopped their heads off.
Out in the streets, her parents once again tried to stop her from leaving. "I dasn't want t' stay, ye canna keep me on land!" She spat out at them spitefully with a few curses more near the end. Cefia stormed off and ended bumping into some red headed girl.

“A pleasure Janus,” Nissa smiled in return not off set by his friendly nature in fact it was rather a pleasant change of pace for someone in her position.
Glancing around quickly she began to realize there had been a few people watching their actions in a most curious fashion, making the shy shaman tense up a little bit, “I agree. The streets around here are not the safest place for one to talk of such.” Not that she was too keen on sitting in the tavern setting, at least she would not be in attendance alone.
As she began movement to the tavern another unpleasant run in occured, this time the small framed girl having been caught off guard fell backwards onto the ground. "Ooof"

Janus was quick to act and offered his hand to Nissa when she had barely touched the ground, keeping his eye on the rather brutish looking lady who had crashed into her.
"Are you alright Nissa?" He asked, paying no attention to the other girls welfare...yet. This might be a set up for an attack, or an attempt to pick a pocket. But this one looked too clumsy to pick pockets, maybe she was just the distraction?
Keeping his guard up, Janus waited for Nissa to stand again.
