It's been a few days since Gabriel had to run away from Delfia. He had never been outside the city, but had somehow managed to stay alive for a week. He had walked to a nearby forest, looking for refuge on a raining day, and stayed there for the time being. He knew of no other city relatively close to Delphia, and he had not the guts to go look around randomly.
Finding food wasn't easy either. The bunnies would run away upon sight, as would most other animals. On the other hand, taking a deer down with his level of skill would be like trying to tackle an iron door. To be honest, his magic was more on the pathetic side. He knew it all about the arts. He had even taken the time to learn the chantings and inner workings of all high level arcana and light spells while in magic school.
But as a result of the lack of practice, his castings of "Fire" normally turned out to be more like the lighting of a match than a real fireball. After several fruitless chases, he finally decided to set up traps around several parts of the forest, and check up on them several times a day.

Jya trekked through the woods, she tried to be as silent a she could, but the fact that all her muscles shrieked pain made it difficult to say the least. She wasn't sure why she entered Etruria in the first place. Was it to meet up with her parents? Then, she saw it... A little rabbit out in the distance. She had been eating nothing, but bugs lately, so the animal was huge and pleasant surprise. Her luck was even greater, for the animal was turned away, its back facing her. Slowly, taking out her dagger like weapon, she simply stalked, quietly. Hopefully her stomach doesn't sound off.
Perhaps three or so feet behind the creature, she lunged, but something caught her foot. A snare! How inconvenient... It made her trip and yelp a little, but she managed to grab hold of the rabbit's leg. Practically holding onto it for dear life.

"Hm?" Gabriel muttered. That shriek for help. He was able to recognized it by now. A rabbit had been caught in a trap and was trying to set itself free. Happy because he had yet to eat all that day, Gabriel trotted towards where the sound came from. He was not expecting this, though.
"Wh-" he tried to speak, but could not finish even a single word. He noticed the rabbit hanging from her hand and figured out what happened. "Who are you, and why are you here?" he said, not getting any closer. If she had ill intentions, he could easily just walk away. It would take some time for the girl to free herself. Otherwise, he could just free her up easily.

"Names Jya and I happened to get caught up in this snare. Not exactly sure why I'm here, I just ended up wondering in this area." Jya replied. That was the best she could do, but hopefully the guy will be able to believe her. Than again, she was pretty suspicious, wondering around the woods alone...
"Can you help me out? I don't mind sharing the rabbit." she said cheerfully. He seemed somewhat tired of something, a warm meal helps most of the time. Yes, it was pretty much a ransom.
(OOC: Jya is taller than you at five feet six? X3)

"I guess I could let you down" he said, untying the rope from her foot. "Gabriel, nice to meet you" he said, extending his hand.
"It still seems strange for someone to be wandering around here" Gabriel added. "Though I'm one to talk. You are probably wondering yourself what I am doing here".
"Here, let's roast that thing" he said, picking up a few branches lying around, cut some others from a few trees, set them up on the floor and chanted. "Oh, spirits commanding the fires of hell, bring forth thy flame" he muttered, as a spark jumped out of his right hand and into the pile of wood, making a small but warm campfire.
(OoC: Well, you ARE two years older than he is. He is roughly 5 feet one. You're about 10 cms taller than Gabriel is. By the end of this arc, if roughly a year passes, he'll have grown about 8 cms more)

"Man am I glad to have meat! I've been eating nothing but bugs for days now." Jya said, springing back to life. It was so very pleasant to finally have a conversation with someone. However, right after taking the life of the rabbit and started to skin, did she realize all the difference between clothing as well as his size. How tall did she grow!?! More importantly who was this kid?
"Got any spices, because I sure don't." Jya continued, after eying the small fire. Magic, not exactly her best defense to say the least. Taking out a small vial, she gulped down some of her daily medicine, but nothing seemed to relieve her physical agony.

"Bugs. Ugh." he muttered. Who IS this girl?
"No spices, sorry. I was kind of...kicked out of town without much warning. All I had with me at the time was the clothes and my Fire tome" he said. He had some gold on him, but it was better not to discuss that with someone he didn't know.
"What is that which you are taking, if you don't mind me asking?" Gabriel said, looking at the small bottle.

"Some medicine from a healer I got a few towns back." "Even she can't figure out how to slow down this disease that had ravaged my body since birth." "That healer didn't believe that I lived so long with it, well I'm more amazed on how fast I grew." she explained, finishing up the skinning and handing over the rabbit over to Gabriel. He seemed like a nice guy, though she would never pry any personal information from a stranger unless it was for a job of course.
"Its been so long I had a decent conversation. Nothing but job offers from lowly bandits nowadays, don't ask." she shuddered while explaining.

"I see" he said, not being able to comment much more on the illness. He knew nothing about the healing arts, and if even a healer could not cure it he dared not think how bad it was.
"A sort of mercenary, then?" Gabriel finally asked as he sat down and put the bunny on a sturdy stick right by the fire. "It should be done in a while" he added, looking at the bunny. He shrugged off the 'bandits' part. She clearly stated she was not one of them, and barely working with them for the money.
Gabriel started playing around with his magic, trying to see if he could make the fire dance at his whim. He almost managed to burn up part of his own cloak, though. "Remind me never to try that again" he said, sighing. He had to work on his magic more if he ever wanted to be a decent mage.

"Yet it is still amazing...Magic, I wished I could have learn such a thing, but my family could never afford such a teaching. Its amazing though, everytime I see a mage fire some sort of...fire, fills me with quite a bit of awe." Jya was admiring the the fire now. She didn't have a body fit for combat, magic was the best thing she could have learned, if only it could be afforded. Her family had low connections, so no one within the circle knew any other who could have taught. Than again, her family never did want her to get into any sort of violence. She stared at the animal, roasting, slowly, but surely.
"It must have some conventional uses. Yet nothing beats the beauty of stars against the night."
[OOC: I don't really make up bandit attacks, fights, etc. So whenever you feel appropriate, go and do it]

"Oh yes. It helps not having to carry a matchbox around with me" he said in a mocking tone. "But I guess that comes with me being a mediocre mage. Have to agree with starry nights being the best, though". Gabriel had always wondered what lied beyond the sky. What was there? Would he ever be able to grasp the light of a star?
"I could try and teach you some basic magic. But it'd be best if I were not to. If I were to be your teacher and I can barely start a fire, what would that make you?" he said. He didn't want things going wrong...again. I...no, I must leave that behind me. There was nothing for any of us to do back then.
"Where are you from, by the way?" The question came out of nowhere, that's for sure. But Gabriel had to divert his mind from such thoughts.
(OoC: Gabriel has already decided to drop that topic, regardless. He won't ask now. >_>)

"A small town in Etruria, so small that barely any travelers every passed by." "I remember whenever someone does pass by, there was so much uproar." "Just about everyone came out of town just to shake the stranger's hands." she answered dreamily and somewhat sadly. Because not that many travelers came by, there wasn't any prosperity in the village. Food was scarce if harvest was bad and there was nothing to be done. Perhaps the richest person in the town was the priest.
"What about you? I'm also wondering why someone like you is out here alone..." "You don't have to answer if you don't want to." finishing, before she began to tinker with her lockpick.

"Well, I am from Delphia. Was born there and lived there my entire life until about last week. Haven't kept track of days since then, to be honest." He was unsure whether to actually continue on with the story. If Jya was a believer, she could tell the guards of Delphia of his location and have him be locked in jail...or even murdered.
"I had a dispute with my father, and he didn't take kindly to my words. He..." he stopped for a moment to breathe and gulp. "He got me kicked out of the city because of that. I took refuge here and have been eating animals and some herbs around here since. The river nearby has helped quite a bit"
And I'd get some fish from it, if only I had something to catch them to begin with

"Are you interested in continuing on? There is much more to the world, than to sulk in the past." "Perhaps once you make a name for yourself, you father will welcome you back in open arms or at least let you look around the city a bit." Jya declared, even though the past of abandoning her friends was a little hard to swallow to say the least. She smiled timidly, everyone has their own problems to go through, even nobles...
"I suggest we both set out together, it would be much safer this way! At least I can get into the next town safely." How much longer was the rabbit going to cook? Her stomach has already started to rumble, distracted by her hunger and force of habit, she started to dig into the ground, looking for any edible grub.

"I...don't think it'll be that easy. It's a matter of clashing principles, really. But you're right, I should not let my mind be swallowed by the past. It's time to move forward, even if I don't know where it will lead me." he said smiling back.
"Where were you headed to, by the way?" he asked, taking another look at the bunny. It seemed like it would only take a minute or two more. Would it be enough for the both of them, though? He couldn't help but notice Jya's eagerness to eat something. He wasn't in a much different state either, though.
