Orion smiled and nodded as the two other men introduced themselves. Abel and Eric, he remembered. "It's a pleasure to meet both of you," he said politely. As he learned from his mother, The best way to keep out of a bad situation is to mind your manners. He practically lived by that.
Watching Eric manipulate the magic like he did, Orion figured that he was a mage, or at least a pupil. Interesting. And judging by the sword that Abel carried, he must've been a thief or myrmidon or something. They would be good allies in a fight. Maybe they'd end up traveling together.
"Depending on the place you have in mind, I think Blanc- my horse- can handle a good amount of snow, when traveling. It's like he has a resistance to it. But if the path to the location is particularly deep, then I'd have to figure something out."

Just then, a pegasa knight landed outside the cave. "Hello? Anyone there?"
"There's three of us," Abel said.
"Friend or foe?"
"Friend," Abel replied, confused.
The pegasas knight walked in. "Illians? Oh good, Bern's rebeling and we're in need of more troops. Can y'all help?" Bern rebeling? Well, I wanted to join the army, Abel thought. "I'm willing, but I'm unsure of my friend's decitions," he said.
"Here's some directions," she said as she scrawled some stuff onto a paper and handed it to Abel. "I must be off soon, but thank you and ST. Emillie bless."
Abel turned to his friends as she left in the direction of Arphen."Well, you guy's want to go? How many can Blanc hold Orion? I know we've only just met, but you would be a great help." Abel, sure that Eric was coming, took a extra jacket out of his pack and handed it to Eric. He then took out his armor and put it on. The time has come, Abel thought. People are in trouble, I must help. Not for any reason but that.

A minute passed as the conversation took place, but then... "That was..." Eric honestly didn't know how to describe anything like that, and the convenience of it all would be too great to pass up. "Well, like I said, I'm ready when you are. So we're headed to Bern? Sounds like fun." Inside, the pupil allowed the real reason for his excitement to be voiced: it would only take one more trip down the mountain now, and, if the map Eric had seen on the trip was at all accurate, Bern stood only a short trip on the plains away.

Orion thought for a moment. Blanc had only carried anyone other than Orion a handful of times, and raerely more than one person. Considering Blanc for a moment, Orion spoke. "To be honest, I'm not sure. He's only carried two before, but he might be capable of three. You know, if you guys are balanced," he said. Orion re-mounted his horse, having gotten off when he had been introducing himself. Adjusting the saddle underneath him, a thought occured to him.
"Maybe if I remove the saddle, there'll be enough room..." he said, directing the thought at Abel and Eric. He hoped his decision to join them was obviously yes,

"If he can't hold us all, can he at least take you and Eric?" Abel asked as he adjusted his sword's back strap. From what she said, it seems we're in a hurry, he thought.
Abel took his map out, checked it, then double checked their course before putting it away. "We need to leave ASAP, so lets get this show on the road," he said as he put the sled back in its place. He then stood at the mouth of the cave looking back at his friends.

ASAP? He's said that before...what did it mean? Something like "as soon...aw, whatever. Now wasn't the time for that; all the pupil knew is that it meant "go now". With Orion it seemed probably they could leave quickly, and at least there was only one more trip down the mountain to worry about. Hold on..."I wonder why she didn't come with us. Y'know, the pega-whatever knight? If they need reinforcements so bad, she should be with us-oogh." From there, getting on Orion's horse--there was some special term for it he couldn't remember--took up most of his attentions. How did one climb onto such a big animal? Orion did it all the time, so there had to be a way. Frustrated, Eric gathered himself for a jump; leap later and he found himself slung over the horse with his head on one side and his legs On the other. Nope, he thought, cringing at the discomfort of the position. Two more throws ended with the same result, and, assuming the cavalier would be getting impatient, he quickly and clumsily shimmied himself to a point where he could haul himself straight. Success! "Okay," Eric said, trying with all his might not to fall off the horse or anything equally as stupid. "Time to go, then? We have a long way to go, so let's start off!" Adventure held a universal appeal: something new, different, a discovery in the making. Perfect fodder for the imagination of a twelve-year-old mage-in-training raised on stories of travelers and traders. Had his turn come? Eric, pupil from Rone, had found himself in a legend in the making, and no chance stood that he would be left out!

Abel watched as Eric tried to get on Orion's horse. I remember the first time I rode a horse, he thought. He was then reminded of Garnet. Wonder what he's doing.
"Yep, lets get this show on the road," Abel said with enthusiasm. He checked the map again. "Come my friends. People are in need of help.It is our job to bring hope back into they're hearts. To see a smile on there face is all the payment we need." Abel walked out into the snow, his green hair quickly becoming specked with white. And so we go.
