OoC: This takes place during Gabriel's and Errol's hunt for food while in one of Etruria's forests.
"Tell me, Errol" Gabriel started, as he kept looking all around him for any sign of movement. "When did you start studying magic?" he asked. They both looked like they were around the same age, but Errol seemed far more experienced than him. At least, than his current him. But that is better left for another moment.
"I can barely use the simplest of magics now, but you show great control over fire" he added, as a compliment, as much as it hurt him to do so.

"...It was seven years ago, I believe," Errol considered, bringing back the memories of that time was something of a strain, "It seems so long ago now... but at the time, apprenticing myself to magic seemed the only option."
Suddenly, a thought occurred to him. "And what about you? Why did you choose Anima over the other branches of magic?"

"It's...kind of a long story" Gabriel said, not having considered being asked back about it. He considered it for a moment, but decided that it wasn't the best time for this talk.
"To make it short, after going through a few lessons of each type of magic, it was apparent that Anima was that which I was most comfortable with." He stopped to breathe and went on. "I made quite a few friends back then, at age 6, and everything went well, until about when I was 10. I...it was the first time we were to channel the power of the Anima, so the point was to materialize whatever we could." Gabriel took a breath yet again, as he looked everywhere around him for signs of life.
"Things didn't go that well. Or...should I say that they went better than expected? Somehow, I ended up materializing a full force thunderbolt, and...it killed one of my friends. I fell unconscious and wanted to drop out of magic school after I woke up, but my parents forced me to go on."

Errol was taken aback by this. "I... I see. I thought I had sensed great potential in you." 'But even so... calling down Thunder on a first attempt... yet having difficulty controlling more than embers in a life or death situation? Perhaps he's suppressed his power, but even so...'
"If that's the case, then any difference in our abilities must have come from intensity of study. As I said, magic was all I had." 'I suppose I should just tell him. I really have nothing to gain by hiding this.' "My family had dissolved: My mother died of illness, and that led to a falling out with my father... As I was then, my mental state precluded placing my faith in a higher power; and I had heard rumors of how many of the best Druids ended up... lost in dark sleep. Anima seemed the most trustworthy choice in any case."

"Given that background, one would think that you'd have followed the path of the Light magic, or had taken to the clergy and resorted to staves" Gabriel said, trying to clear his mind off his past, and not trying to press on by asking about Errol's own past.
"I...think I still fear magic" he said, hurt by this claim, but knowing that it was probably the truth. "Which is why I try to use it as often as I can, to see if I can get over it". "And I guess we too share some...problems with our respective fathers" he said, forcing a smile on his face. "My father is the reason to why I'm here. But I guess I better leave that one for some other time."
"Look, over there" he whispered, as a snow-white blur passed in front of them.
OoC: Unless you feel you have something else to add, I don't think this chat could go further than this.

"I see it," Errol whispered, readying his fire spell and trying to calculate where their target was headed.
(ooc: Yeah, at this point the conversation is pretty much over.)
