Clair had watched from the battlements as the swarm of Sacaens had attacked. She hadn't been ready for the numbers that had surrounded Salvation Point. At first, she hadn't known what to do to fight such a large attack, but eventually, she caught sight of her commander. No one seemed to be able to touch him. He made use of both blade and the prepared siege tools.
Clair approached the nearest ladder, and thrusted with her weapon down as far as she could reach. This delayed some of the Sacaens from reaching the walls. One of the soldiers nearby dropped a small boulder and Clair heard the sound of more than a few heavy impacts as enemies were knocked off the ladder. Clair saw an opportunity to go for a ladder and got the soldier who had dropped the stone to help.
Clair used her lance like a lever, gaining the advantage needed to help lift the ladder off the wall. It toppled backwards into the army, but they would soon have it up again. They had to find a way to destroy the ladders.
Clair heard the sound of the monks singing a song. She didn't have time to listen to it now, but that they would sing in this tumult bolstered her confidence. She made her way down to where Corona was kept. She could probably be of more use from his back.

Richter found himself caught in furious combat with one of the more bloodthirsty Sacaen warriors. Both fought their hardest as blade met blade, the sound of striking steel becoming just another sound in the cacophony of war. "Take your Prophet, your book, and die, Etrurian!" shouted the Sacaen warrior as he brought his sword down upon Richter's head. Richter thrust his sword upwards in an attempt to parry, but the impact of the weapons caused the Sacaen's blade to slide off of Richter's and strike the Ilian's shoulder.
Richter stumbled, grimacing with pain, as the Sacaen tried to follow up with a horizontal slash. In a burst of strength, Richter surged forward, blocking the strike with his blade. The charge caused him and the Sacaen to collide, knocking them both to the ground. Giving the plainsman no time to react, Richter thrust his sword into the man's chest. The sword crushed bone as it penetrated the man's heart.
Covered in a mixture of gore both his own and the blood of others, Richter stood up from his fallen foe. The shout of another charging Sacaen warrior came from behind him. His own sword lodged in the corpse's chest, Richter grabbed the fallen warrior's blade. Twirling around, he slashed at the oncoming assailant. The Sacaen blade met with Sacaen flesh, sundering the attacker's torso. The man collapsed to the ground with his ally's edge lodged in his spine.
Richter stood up, panting hard. The walls were being overrun by Sacaen warriors. Both Sacaens and Etrurians met in a bloody dance of life and death. Not willing to give up the battlements just yet, Richter gave another command to his men. "Kill them all! Don't let yourselves be defeated by Sacaen trash!" he shouted. Richter looked over the edge of the wall. The Sacaens had abandoned their endeavors here. Beckoning nearby Etrurian soldiers, Richter dashed towards more ladders still bearing Sacaens upon the walls.

Clair mounted up on Corona, and looked to the walls. There was a cluster of sacaens gathered around where a ladder must be. The soldiers on the walls were doing their best to repel the sacaen attackers, but there were a pair of ladders near the mob gathering.
Clair thought it was time to break that cluster up. Nudging Corona, she felt him take to the sky and begin his ascent toward the wall. The Etrurian defenders were keeping the edge of the sacaens pretty occupied. She decided to go for a full disruption.
Once they were high enough, Corona dropped straight down on the inside of the cluster in a flurry of flying hooves and wings. Many sacaens found themselves displaced by the sudden entrance of a mass the size of pegasus. A few fell against the outer wall, while others tumbled off the inside of the walls.
Corona and Clair came under immediate attack from all sides, though the crowded conditions limited their effectiveness. Corona sustained a few small cuts on his shoulders, and Clair received a slice across her back. She gritted her teethe in pain as she took the cut. The offending swordsman recieved a hard jolt to the head as Clair swung the haft of her lance up.
Corona's flailing wings enabled the two to make their way towards the edge of the cluster. As she approached the edge of the cluster, the soldiers there gave a shout and surged forward toward the ladders.
Clair took a moment to look around and saw her commander rallying the soldiers to attack the ladders. She took a moment to appraise her injury, and decided she would go get it tended to. She didn't yet know her limits in battle. First though...
Clair surveyed the walls and found a disabled soldier. He was injured but was able to pull himself aboard Corona quickly enough. They set off down to the chapel, where the priests were, looking for healing.
Clair wondered if Commander Richter would have a use for her. After she was healed she would locate him for orders.

The monks were busy tending to the wounded. One of the monks furiously tried to push some vital organs back into a shivering body, but decided it was a lost cause. His eye caught Clair and rapidly he got his staff ready. Without words he pulled Clairs clothes up, revealing her back. He swiftly healed the wound and looked to the disabled soldier. With a wave of his hand he told Clair that she could go. Some of the monks were still singing while they were healing the wounded men.
Before Clair left the building a monk tended Corona and with a weak smile he apologised. They were having a hard time. They had expected to bring peace, not to fight.
"May Elimine and the Prophet be with you! Stay alive!" He then hurried off, wounded were waiting.

As Richter and his men met the Sacaen force on the other side of the wall, he realized it was too late. The Sacaen presence in the fort was growing while the Etrurian presence was dwindling. Unless they wanted to be surrounded and destroyed, his forces would need to be the first off of the wall. Richter wouldn't lose here in this backwater installation. He'd probably just be killed and left to rot in the sun, like a nobody. No, his pride wouldn't allow that. He was greater than this.
"Etrurians! Fall back to the courtyard! We'll continue the fight there!" he shouted over the din of battle. Sliding down a ladder off of the battlements, Richter was followed by soldiers slowly pulling themselves out of battle to retreat. As the Etrurian force moved itself towards the central courtyard, Sacaen's spilled over the edges of the fort. They were still 250 men strong out of the original 500, if not more. Regrouping near the door of the church, Richter could feel the adrenaline shoot through his veins. He was aware of every breath he took; every movement he made. His grip tightened around the handle of his blade, the bright sun reflecting off of the red steel. A horde of raging tribal forces bore down upon their position. This was it.

A strange sensation, like warmth, and coolness washed over Clair as her injuries were healed. She heard the churchman's blessing, and returned it before turning back to the gruesome work ahead of her.
Clair heard the call to fall back, into the courtyard, and saw soldiers begin to drop down ladders and and the few narrow staircases around the walls. The soldiers were rallying in front of the chapel, looking grim.
Clair moved forward on the ground coming up on the right of her Commander, still mounted on Corona. This would shield his right side from attack, while leaving her the ability to strike with her lance, unimpeded. Also, there was no one else here she would rather have protecting her, more vulnerable, left side.
"We'll take'em Sir! Watch and see!" Clair had shut out the immense numbers, and was falling back on what her mother said she did. Be Cocky. Of course, her mother had been a good bit more skilled to.

The Saceans were truely vicious. In their rage they destroyed the barracks and slaughtered the soldiers who had hidden themselves there. Fires were erupting everywhere and when the gate fell, the Etrurians felt desperate. But they had killed a lot of them today and if they had to die, they would die proud. For a moment the Saceans and the Etrurians just faced each other. But then, the monks started singing once more and the Etrurian soldiers erupted into warcries.
"FOR THE PROPHET!"

"We'll take them all!" shouted Richter in response to Clair along the soldier's cries for the Prophet.
The courtyard erupted into the shouts of battle as the two armies crashed together. The waves of Sacaen warriors collided with the rock steady Etrurian soldiers in a bloody onslaught of man versus man. With Clair by his side, Richter launched himself forward at an opponent. The Sacaen manage to parry Richter's first blow, but was quickly decapitated by the second. Another Sacaen charged from the left, his sword burying itself in the side of Richter's arm. As blood splattered from his injured limb, Richter kicked the warrior in the side of the knee and stabbed the him in the chest. As he fell, the Sacaen gave Richter one last wound on his thigh. Richter dropped to one knee in pain. "Clair!" he shouted. "Get me to the monks, I need healing!"

Clair joined her own cry to the army's. "For The Prophet!"
Commander Richter charged forward, his momentum carrying Clair and the other soldiers along with him. She struck a few blows against Sacaens on the right side of her mount, but the she had to spend considerable time warding off the hostile swords arrayed against her. Only the determination of the fighters on either side of her kept her from receiving numerous cuts. As it was, she took only small nicks and bruises.
As she withdrew her lance from the tangle of blades, she saw Richter fall to his knee, struck by a sacaen blade in the leg.
"Clair!" he shouted. "Get me to the monks, I need healing!"
"Rally for the Commander! Rally for the Prophet!" She shouted out. Only a few heard her call, but they spread the word. Though the men respected him more than they had earlier, they still came mostly to shore up the weakening line, not to save him specifically.
Clair wheeled her pegasus around, prompting him to batter those nearby with his wings to clear a path. She vacated her foot from the stirrup on the side and clung as tightly as she could to Corona's back, reaching down towards his good arm.
"Take my arm, and use the stirrup!" She called down to him. She didn't want to be pulled clear of the saddle.
They managed to get the Region Officer up on the pegasus pretty quickly, but the maneuver led to a few more injuries to Clair and Corona.
As they made it back to the chapel steps, Clair could see the healers growing more frantic. Now that the battle was more or less on their doorstep, wounded were coming right and left.

"Commander!" The District-Head hurried to Richter, dragging a monk along with him. The DH had sent his bodyguards into the battle and even the few civilians had taken up daggers and spears, sticks and knives to fight off the Horde. A few monks had been killed by stray arrows or had sacrificed themselves in battle. The monk quickly began healing Richter, while the DH held Richter by his arms, to stop him from falling. He was losing a lot of blood. If Clair hadn't brought him this fast, the arm might have been lost. After the healing was done, Richter saw that his soldiers were holding their line, but they were slowly losing ground. He also noticed that the organised Saceans, with the mocking banner, had still not joined battle. They were the secret weapon, it seems.
It was almost evening. The sun started setting and the fires that had erupted began being the primary source of light. If the Etrurians could hold out till the next morning, perhaps the Reinforcements might be there.

SOMEWHERE ON THE PLAINS:
600 Etrurians marched the Sacean plains. The long caravan created a lot of dust, but these warriors weren't concerned about the Saceans. They had the numbers, they had the technology, they had faith on their side. Noone could stop them. The commander was sweating. It was becoming dark, but they were so near the fort. Suddenly a scout came in shouting.
"The fort is burning! I couldn't get any closer, there were Saceans shooting at me!"
The Commander gritted his teeth. Those Sacean dogs. They shall pay for this. If only they could get there in time. In the morning they could be there, if nothing stopped them. He had no idea how big the Sacean force was, but if they tried to stop him, he would slaughter them.
"DOUBLE THE PACE, MEN! GO, GO, GO!"
The men sighed and roared. Now one could here rhythm of footsteps echoing over the fields. If the Saceans wanted peace, they could find it in death. (OoC: Morgoth, let's assume you are a volunteer for this army, or something, allright?)

OoC: Why would I randomly join an army? IC: Morgoth was practicing creating a dark orb and shooting it at small animals and rocks when he heard the thunder of hooves. He quickly put his tome in his secret pocket. His notes fell to the ground and he stuffed them in his regular pocket and started walking away from the noise. A large army came over the hill and Morgoth was immediately surrounded by several men while the rest of the army continued on. "What are you doing out here?""Looking to join an army," he lied. The soldier thought for a second and said, "Welcome aboard then." What? Just like that? They must be desperate. The man grabbed his arm and slung him onto his horse. They moved on. Good thing they didn't ask me to take my hood off, they would of killed me for being Sarcaen. While they rode the man he was with asked, "So, what weapons do you use?""I use Elder magic," he replied. The man said nothing more. * * * The army had halted for a few minutes when he heard, "DOUBLE THE PACE, MEN! GO, GO, GO!"Morgoth got his tome out of his secret pocket as they sped up.

As Richter rushed back to the battle, he frowned. The soldier like Sacaens had yet to make a move. If they really were as superior as they seemed, this would definitely be a losing battle. His men were being pushed back by just the basic soldiers. There was strength in numbers.
The battle waged long into the night. Richter was growing exhausted as the battle raged on, and he could see the fatigue in his soldiers. Fortunately, the Sacaens looked like they were beginning to tire as well. Cutting down a Sacaen soldier and kicking him down the church stairs, Richter looked to the sky. Was it too much to hope for that those reinforcements the Herald had promised would be coming soon?

Clair was completely worn down. Slowly, the massive size of the battle around her had sunk in, but instead of stunning her into stillness, it had dragged her on, inexorably, to keep on fighting for this prophet she hardly knew. She had made fewer and fewer forrays into the sky as it grew darker, and eventually had ceased altogether.
She had had to go to the monks several more times as the confrontation had gone on and take a breather or two inside the chapel. Now she was fighting on the right side of the stairs with a few untrained civilians, and a part of what was left of their garrison. She did her best to keep going, but the battle just kept on, endlessly.
Strike to the left with the lance, hooves crushing bones, wings knocking enemies aside, blocking swords with her gauntlet and feeling the blade smash the arm, if not cut into it. This was the the misery she had fought through. The only consolation was that the enemy had paid much greater prices.

Horns sounded, warcries were heard. Swords were drawn and feet trampled the earth.
The Sacean Elite had started their attack. Fresh, experienced, strong and eager they moved forward. The first ranks of Etrurians fell under their blades. Only the last veterans, civilians, monks and soldiers were left to defend the church. The DH ordered all monks to stop healing and to start fighting. The monks got their staves ready, some even donned daggers. This was their last chance. If they had to die, they would die with honor. The DH yelled at Richter to close the church's door. They had no option left then rertreat inside. Those who couldn't make it inside before the gates shut would die for sure.
"Commander! Say it!"
Away from Richter a cluster of 5 Etrurians, two twins among them, desperately tried to fight their way back to the gate, but they were surrounded. One of them fell, blood gashing from his throat. The twins fought valiantely, but soon they as well would be overwhelmed. In despair they looked to their commander.
