Suddenly, as Joseph listened to the night, the knight outside shouted in pain and surprise. The other men looked up, with concerned looks crossing their faces. The simple soldier looked over at the bound pirate expectantly. He must have wanted a response from his captive. But Joseph did not know, or care. He knew that he would die sooner or later.
The knight clanked in with his armor. It was apparent that he was bleeding, but from where was the question. It seemed that he was hit under his plating somehow. The wounded lance man began. "Oi swear, theres more pirates! I had me armor off, just taken' a leak, and some axe comes roight out of that there dark, and took a bit outa me! I swear, that there pirate will pay for my-... ugh..." The knight kneeled on the ground, gripping his spear for support. Now the blood was dripping from the chest plate.
The paladin rose with a commanding air to him. "D*mn, this couldn't happen tomorrow? Blast," he began, with a slightly annoyed voice that masked his true feelings, "Alright men, let's find these pillagers! It's obvious that this one’s important! Spread out, and check the docks!" The three men left, leaving the wounded knight to guard Joseph. Now, the pirate was wondering what was going on. After a few minutes of the soldiers shouting outside, it dawned upon Joseph what was going on.
Right after his epiphany, the knight slumped over with a grunt. Standing over him was the shipmate that he fought with. "Right mate, time to get yor lazy butt off of that seat." Quietly, the pirate came over and cut the binding ropes. Joseph quickly stood up, and said in a concerned voice, "What're yew doin' here? You shoulda been outa here long ago." The pirate acquaintance just grunted, shrugging his shoulders. Joseph sighed, still thankful for getting a chance at life. Now, the two had to figure out what to do, fast.
