Jya stumbled over a rock on the road; her day hasn’t been so great lately. She was trying to find a way to Bern, but unfortunately her sense of direction made her end up closer to Lycia. If it wasn’t for the last village she made to, she still would have kept on in, until she was right at Lycia’s border. Yet truthfully even now, she was still unsure of her current route. Was this the right way? Other than the terrible situation, the day was fine; it wasn’t completely cloudy or rather not too hot. Plus she was able to stock up on supplies and ‘earn some money’ for the supplies. Her stock of food would now last her at least two or three days of travel and some bitter herbs she can chew on when hungry. Than a sudden realization occurred to her…she was traveling alone and lost.

It was a quiet day on the plains. A calming wind, clear skies and not too warm. The only problem was where he was, in the plains of Sacae.
The boy named Valorian looked over the landscape briefly, his staff clutched in his right hand. He'd been traveling for days to reach this point, and he could swear he'd seen this stretch of grass before, but he knew his directional sense was true. He didn't want to be here, but this was where the Eturian army was marching, so this was where he needed to be.
Still...Sacae was a big place. An army shouldn't be too hard to find, except nobody trusted a child with such information.
He noticed a figure on the horizon and lowered himself to observe them. Young...female as well. And alone?
She was either a trap, or very foolish to be wandering the endless fields alone, but he could not take the chance that she was just a stupid girl in over her head.
And so, he began walking towards the girl.

This time Jya did trip on a rock and fell once again, head first onto the ground. Why, this had been happening quite a bit lately, her constant distractions had resulted in unnecessary accidents. It was either that or she was just becoming more unlucky by the day. Pushing herself up with both hands, she steadied herself back to on both her feet. Wiping down her already dirty and somewhat stained clothing (some stains were even her own blood and others are…questionable). Sighing, she finally spoke to herself.
“You know what? I’m tired of being in an endless sea of grass, I’m sick of tripping over pebbles and rocks, and I AM GOING to stay here, until this stupid day is over!” Jya said, rather loudly and plopped herself on the ground. Tapping her forehead, she knew quite well how unreasonable her own request was. Sacae was dangerous for a lone traveler, especially a girl her age…her age…how old was she? The alarming fact was, for last few years, she had forgotten her own details. How long ago was she with Gabriel (a mystery), how long has it been since she saw Alcibie (forgotten). Either way, she never kept track and it shouldn’t bother her now. She needed to focus on survival.

Valorian watched the small temper tantrum and cracked a half smile, clearly thinking on something only he knew. He had gotten within a few feet of the girl before she even looked up.
"You know." He spoke quietly. "Half the plains would have heard that little outburst. This isn't the safest place to be, let me help you up." He placed his staff in the ground and extended his right hand to her. His cloak covered all the rest of his body, making it difficult to see if he held anything in his left hand.
"If you need a guide, I would be more then happy to have a traveling companion."

Jya’s jaw dropped, where exactly did this guy come out from!? Oh right, she wasn’t paying attention. When he mentioned about a traveling partner, she realized how much the goddess was actually looking after her! Her day seemed to have taken onto a nicer note, even someone like him seemed more useful than being by herself.
“Well, it is true, and thanks, best to be with somebody that knew to go somewhere or anywhere, than to stay lost by myself! My name is Jya and it is a pleasure to meet you!” she replied happily and grateful.
“So, like what now?” [/blockquote]

Valorian helped the girl up, taking note that her hand felt slightly cool, even on this comfortable day. "You can call me Valorian." He said simply. "It's nice to meet you Jya."
When she asked what to do next he blinked in confusion. "Didn't you have a destination in mind Jya? The plains of Sacae might be a good place for a Sacaen to wander, but not for most others. I'm..."
He trailed off for a moment before recovering. "Looking for a village. I don't know where it is exactly, but I'll know it when I see it."

“Well I was trying to head to Bern, but apparently I’m closer to Lycia…Truthfully I never seem to have a particular location that I must be in,” Jya replied, truthfully. When Valorian mentioned his destination, she felt that it might be best to follow along. Smiling half-heartedly, she shrugged off her discomforts.
“Lead the way, better to move as much while there is light,” Jya said before reaching into her bag and pulling out one of her bitter, hunger reducing herb. Chewing the thing seemed to calm her down quite a bit.

Valorian smiled at the girl and was about to resume his walking when he noticed the weed she began to munch on. "Is that really all you have to eat? We'll have to catch something tonight, that can't possibly be enough. I've got some for a few days, but we should catch it while we can...I think." He seemed to trace a map in his head. "If my memory serves there should be a small river that way." He said pointing in a direction. He could have said south, but he doubted it would have been any more effective then saying they were going 'that way'.
"We could catch some fish, or some wildlife that frequent there. It's important to keep up your energy out here."
He plucked his staff from the ground and knocked the dirt off of it before taking a step or two in the indicated direction. "So Jya, what brought you to Sacae? I mean, you are a wanderer yes, but what brought you over here?"

Jya never really thought about what brought her anywhere, she simply went along to places. Before long something did emerge from her chest, the feeling was somewhat suffocating, as if someone put a bag over her head. She realized that perhaps she missed Alcibie, her friends; they were almost like family to her. For the past year or so, she had been trying to find them perhaps? Then again, she never really tried has she? Taking a deep breath and exhaling it, she came up with the best explanation she could give, for someone lost in life.
“Its alright, I have food that’ll last for two days, but I try to avoid eating it, as it is precious. As for the reason I came here…I don’t quite know, but I guess it has something to do with trying to get away or finding my past?” she muttered her answer, before trying to completely avoid eye contact.

Valorian just stared ahead on the empty plains. "Finding your past eh? I wouldn't know much about that, I've been running from mine. Sometimes it's best to forget where we have been and to focus on where we are going. Keep looking back and you'll never get anywhere."
A heavy silence fell over the pair, broken only by the sounds of feet hitting the grass in small, steady intervals.
"Stop." He said suddenly, his brow furrowing slightly. He motioned for her to get down into the tall grass as he did the same, gripping his staff tightly.
Ahead, barely in sight, were a pair of riding horses. Even from this distance he could make out the white manes associated with two different groups.
Nobility and Erturian's.
He very much doubted that nobility would be here, but the Erturian army should be.
There were no villages near here that he knew of, and the sky was clear, so were they just resting?

Jya quickly and quietly ducked down and maneuvered her way through the grass beside Valorian. Peering out in the distance she saw the strangers as well, though her friend next to him was much more cautious when it comes to meeting others on the road. Truthfully she didn’t mind, from her experience in traveling and such, she found that if another bothers her, the best resolve is to run off. When that didn’t work, you just fight and try your best not to get killed.
One of the men seemed to be having fun talking about a topic, while the other didn’t seem quite interested. She stifled a cough and tried her best to keep in, if Valorian didn’t want to be discovered, it was best if both of stuck with the plan. She laid there, waiting for whatever was in store for them next.

Valorian observed the men quietly, but must have made some sound of which he was not aware when one of them turned towards them and held out a sword.
"Who is there?" He declared, looking about the blades of grass. He didn't see them yet, but they likely would search more thoroughly now that they were alert. He whispered over to Jya.
"Follow my lead, I'd like to avoid a fight...for now." And he stood up, with his staff held out to the side.
"Peace, I did not mean to raise suspicions. I did not know your affiliation so I hid myself and my companion."
The one with the sword arched his eyebrow at Valorian's outfit. "A bishop? How did one young as you become the recipient of such an honor in the Prophet's name?" And he began to approach.
Valorian said nothing, and let the man approach quietly. The other man had a small lance, obviously a squire. The two closed the gap quickly, as Valorian spoke.
"I was simply escorting this young lady across the plains, they are quite dangerous with the Sacaen fiends roaming about. It would be too dangerous to cross alone. Isn't that correct my lady?" He asked, turning towards her.

Jya followed along with the ‘act’, gingerly getting up out of the grass and brushing herself off.
“Yes, I’ve been lost here for a week now,” she said, it wasn’t false at all, she had been stuck in Sacae for at least a week, perhaps more. The man however simply looked at her for a deep long moment, as if examining a specimen or freak show of some sort. Many have stared at her like that whenever she ate her lunch or dinner sometimes.
“Have we met little lass?” he asked suspiciously, than it hit her, he seemed to be someone who she ‘borrowed’ money from. Actually that was highly unlikely, but she did travel all over the place and took money from plenty of people. It wasn’t like she was infamous, as far as she knew; she was just a pickpocket out on the streets at the worst. Sure she had killed some people, but that was a long time ago and most was bandits.
“I don’t think so, but umm…” she nudged Valorian’s side and whispered, “how are going to get out of this mess?”

Valorian tried hard to ignore her whisper and focus on the act, but he knew how foolish this looked.
It was a tense moment before the soldier spoke again. "You are clearly a pious man of the church, and I ask a small favor. I have a small injury sustained from bringing the word of the Prophet here, would you be able to heal it so I might continue my work?"
Valorian could swear he saw a smirk, and he knew why. The soldier was testing him, to see if he really could heal. Though he knew how to use those staves, the one he had with him was not going to do the job.
"I am afraid I cannot with my current possessions, I beg your forgiveness."
The soldier turned to his squire and nodded, who then began to approach Jya. "I am sorry your 'holiness', but I have reason to suspect you are not whom you appear to be. You shall have to accompany us to our camp to be questioned."
Questioned, oh he knew how that one was going to go. "Well if it cannot be avoided, I suppose we have no choice..." He said, before striking out with the staff in his hand. He managed to wrap the crook of the staff around the man's hand, and with a deft twist had disarmed him. The squire before Jya was momentarily stunned with the surprisingly quick action, and took his eyes from her.

Jya wasn’t really surprised by how easily Valorian seems to disarm one of the men; she used to be smaller and feisty. Her main focus was upon the squire boy, when she saw him turn away, she took it the opportunity. Kicking off from the ground, she slammed her fist onto the man’s back; this managed to knock some breath out of him, before she took out her dagger and somewhat gently pressed it against the guy’s neck. The reason she doesn’t bother with hand restraints was the fact that if he didn’t want to die, don’t struggle. If he were to fight back, she might accidently end up slitting his throat.
She underestimated him however, as he quickly drew out his hands and grabbed for her hand, this resulted in a small wound on the neck. Before long, she punched her in the face, but not one to give up; she rushed and crashed into her stomach. It literally left him breathless.
“Sorry, about that, didn’t expect that much of a fight,” she said rubbing her cheek and using her other hand to slam the man’s head against the tree.
