OOC: Fits the description well? Rayl TALKS about Aeros in his book. ;D
IC: Francis was still standing there awestruck with Keith, who was making a mental note to tell his buddies about this later: not his buddies that went about killing people but his buddies hanging out in bars and whatnot. the two former bandits sat down once the commotion, fear, and novelty brought about by the dragon faded away...minus the middle of the two of course, though he was relaxed to know it wasn't going to SLAUGHTER HIM INTO NOTHINGNESS,
"Err, I'm new to this whole village saving thing but: when and where do I get paid?"
OOC: short post is short but whatevs.

Theian sighs and listens to all of this. A village, a dragon, a thief, and now Francis is talking about getting paid.... OSHI-
"Francis, it will be a while before the cash comes rolling, but consider this one to have a different kind of payment... I think... Oh wow, a dragon... You have any idea what this could mean?"
Either I lose a chance for a small merc group, or something much worse, which is it?

Garnet managed to stop gaping and looked around at the others. Nearby, Francis and that blue haired swordsman... Theian? Yeah, that was the name.
"Francis, I'm pretty sure that most people's attention will be on the over grown lizard over there. The towns people will probably get around to thanking us eventually." That brought the fact that the he was still employed to mind, and he muttered under his breath, "That reminds me about my own job." Abel was talking with the dragon though...
"Hmm...I guess I can wait." That dragon was enormous, and quite intimidating. Garnet bent over and retrieved his buckler, returning his gear to their places as he stood back up.

Eric had thrown himself to the ground at the sight of the dragon, and had remained there throughout its--apparently his--loud introduction, trying to avoid flying boots and armor as the bandits stampeded by. He only allowed himself to rise when the troubador had introduced herself to the dragon, the green-haired myrmidon in tow. For a moment, he watched the exchange between the dragon...actually, "dragonkin" or "manakete" seemed more appropriate, if the small thief knew anything. Eric considered joining the conversation when he saw one of the passengers.
Having never seen him in person, Eric had taken a moment to register the identity of the oldest of the passengers. But his mother had described him enough times, and the axe. There was no mistake.
"Father?" he asked quietly; nothing told him for sure, but it felt right...
Manuel turned in surprise, having previously been watching the exchange between the manakete and the mercenaries. Moments passed before recognition sparked in his expression. "Eric?" He stepped forward in wonder, but was interupted as the mounted healer bustled about healing wounds from the battle. Once she had passed Eric, the two resumed their conversation. "It's me, dad," Eric confirmed, still slightly shocked, but recovering quickly.
There was more silence; what should one do in a reunion after eight years? Hugging wouldn't be appropriate after a battle like this, especially after the added factor that everyone was faintly reeling from the dragon's arrival.
Speaking of which: "Do you know him, dad?" Eric asked Manuel. "Fairly well. He did bring me here." Eric was ready to ask more questions when Manuel held up a hand. "I only want to tell the story once, so we wait until I can tell your mother as well." He was blunt, but Eric loved him already; blunt was fine by him.
There seemed to be one thing to do. Eric turned toward the village's defenders and said loudly, "Thank you for your help. We would have been overrun without you."

OoC: Now time to get on with my awkward reunion.
IC: Abel finished gawking at the manakete and walked over to the young mage. "Your welcome." He scanned the village. "Would happen to know a girl by the name of Kasey, with blue hair and about thirteen years of age?"
OoC: I'll get to the payment in a sec Garnet. Jeez, your the only one left! Now I gotta track down the others due to my since of Honor.

As Garnet approached Abel he scanned the area, and saw that some of their number was missing. He shook his head at the fact that they'd just disappeared after all that work. Maybe the dragon was the cause... Yet these others helped us out...
He heard Abel mention something about his sister. It was actually the first time he'd heard the description. Blue hair, and around thirteen? Didn't just see someone like that?
"Abel, there was a girl here that healed me during the fighting. She matched that description."
OoC: Instead of hunting down the people that left, you could pay the people that helped out with the money that is left over. In Cefia's defense though, the thread did stall out for awhile.

Things have worked out well, Aeros thought as he surveyed the scene: several people he hadn't thought anything of seemed to have left, but many more remained, and they seemed fine with his existance. It could be nothing but a stroke good luck that Aeros had now gone an entire day without anyone trying to kill him. Eric and Manuel apparently recognized each other--Aeros himself could only guess that they, too, noticed the slight similarities the boy and his father shared--the troubador had done her work on all of the wounded, and he had arrived soon enough to limit casualties to several broken bones, even more bandits, a wooden tower (which Aeros noticed was still burning), and a couple of the villagers.
Wait...why weren't the living villagers gathering up the dead? They seemed to be staring, but not at him, at...
"Manuel," Aeros hinted at his friend. It made sense now why the villagers hadn't attacked the moment they had recovered from their fear; as no obvious leader had come forward, there seemed to be little chance that they truly had a leader...until Manuel showed up. How did they survive this long, achieving all of this? Maybe they didn't need someone to lead them, but there had to have been something for them to rally around... Eric?
Perhaps, perhaps not. I imagine the son of their great leader would have quite a bit of hope riding on him. In the meantime, Manuel seemed to be getting ready to speak. "Everyone," he said, his voice commanding but calm, "I'll tell you all about why I was gone, but we need to rest. My friends and I here have had a long flight. I say we rest tonight, then I'll tell you guys about everything in the morning, when everyone can know without having to worry about if we're safe. Don't you want to be ready if those bandits come back?"
Aeros nearly snorted with laughter, as did Eric and what seemed to be some of the elder villagers, but the hint was taken, and everyone began to shuffle to their respective homes or families, while a few remained behind to stamp out the fires of the watchtower and move the rubble. Before the din escalated, Manuel turned to the newer defenders. "I'm not sure how much we can offer you, but I can definitely say you can stay the night. Just ask people, and they'll tell you who can help. If we're done, I have to go home." Manuel turned and put his arm around Eric, looking happier than the manakete imagined he had every looked before. "Aeros, you, Tut, and Komodo can stay at my place. We've got plenty of beds from relatives staying over."
Seizing the Dragonstone Tut had in his hand, Aeros proceeded to drag the thief along with him toward Manuel.

Abel was about to question Garnet about the girl when Manuel gave his spheal. He watched as Aeros dragged Tuatara, both hanging onto some stone. He watched them for another moment before turning back to Garnet. "You've seen her?" He pulled something out of his bag. "Oh, here's your payment, but you've seen her?" His voice sounded of joy, relief, and fear. Joy that he had finally found her, relief that she was alive, and the fear that she wouldn't forgive him for breaking his promise to keep her safe.

Ah, payment. the merc thought to himself, What every sellsword is driven by. Garnet wasn't really paying attention as he took it from Abel. As he'd said before, he needed to work on his being a greedy sellsword.
"Well, she matched your description, and we followed the lead here. I'd say it's reasonable to figure it's her. Back over there." Garnet pointed towards the place he'd found himself when he awoke earlier. His chest twinged where he'd been whacked. He'd been healed by the girl he was referring to.
Giving a sigh Garnet continued on. "Abel, I need to keep going. I've got to sort out my thoughts on...," The swordsman waved his finger in a circle,"all these events going on in the world. Take care. I hope you and your family can get reunited soon."

Evayl dismounted her horse, an annoyed look on her face. "You mean someone else has been running around and stealing my heals? Uncool. Uncool on many levels." she scoffed. Evayl gave Mely a happy pat on the head before turning to the group. "Well, I figure there's no reason for me to stay much longer. I SHOULD be getting paid for my services, though." she said dramatically. Evayl tapped her staff with her finger and looked around expectantly. "Well? Who's paying?"

"Yeah I want to know that too." Francis was standing next to Evayl as he wiped the sweat and dirt from his brow resting on hand on his side while he let his axe dig into the corpse of one of the bandits, not entirely noticing nor caring: when money was involved everything else is irrelevant...maybe he could get himself some actual shoes! Maybe a nice warm meal too!
...he then had to wipe some drool from his mouth as Keith ran off to help some of the villagers do stuff. Oh well.

Theian sparks up, and then frets. "Paid... oh s***. Since I'm the hirer, and Francis is my co-worker, and Evayl is the client... alright." He walks around, fretting about what to do, until he finally goes into his wallet, and counts out 20 gold coins.
"There. 20 coins. 10 for Francis, 10 for her mistress. Ah, also." He turns toward Evayl. "Have you decided if you will be working with us?"

Garnet glanced around the crowd. They all seemed to have things to keep busy. He headed over and retrieved the chest piece of his armor from the ground. He'd kept his armor for quite a while, a way to record how many blows he needed to return to the Prophet and his lackeys. He figured that it would just be easier to get new armor now though, instead of trying to strengthen this yet again. I suppose I should head back to Laus to pick up Fable again.
He picked it up, and slung it over his shoulder by part of the harness. He decided he'd hang onto it for awhile as he approached a blond haired healer.
"Excuse me, Mistress Troubador, would you mind finishing the healing that I received earlier" Garnet flashed a small handful of gold to show that he'd taken notice of what she'd said about payment.
He'd taken an axe blow through his armor, and he figured that if he could get the remaining injury taken care of here, he'd be better off.

Evayl calmly examined the area that the red-haired mercenary was favoring. "All right. Pretty simple, doesn't seem to be much blood. This won't cost you very much." she said with her signature bright smile. Evayl focused her staff on the area, and within moments, the wound was relieved. "I'd say...five gold pieces should be enough." she said pleasantly. Five plus ten...fifteen? Not great, but there was potential for more.
Finished with her healing, Evayl turned to the blue-haired lad, Theian, and cocked her hip. "You know, a fantastic healer such as myself would be a tremendous asset to any group. As long as you can afford me, I'll go anywhere." she said. Then Evayl thought about something. "Except for one small thing. I've made it my goal in life to track down the Knight of Redemption. If we ever come across him, I'm sorry to say that I'll have to jump ship. Got it?"

Theian nods. The Knight of Redemption, whoever he is, wouldn't appear in a while. During that time, Theian could raise his group to be strong enough with a money leeching troubadour. "Understood. However, if you find anything of value, you are to report it to me, so I can see if it will give us profit. A guild does not run on nothingness, you know. Now, Eragon, Francis! Come here!"
Theian beckons them over. With the new members, it would be impossible to fly over the mountains, unless Francis knew of a valley. So, they'll have to go to Bulgar, into Sacae, and then into Ilia through Etrucia. oing through mountains, and then endless forests would be a form of suicide. If they were lucky, the guild in Laus would gladly accept them as a minor task force. All in good time...
