OoC; Just gonna try to give this a bit of a poke to keep us going.
IC:
Marle looked to the flask that was in her hand, not actually realizing she had taken it. She looked to it, then back to Faust, and gave an apologetic smile, and returned it to him, still unsure on how she became in possession of it. Her eyes went back to Darion and Saturos, mostly on Saturos, as he told his experience. A hand went to the back of her neck, rubbing it softly as she tried to comprehend a hurricane of that magnitude...since she was from the northern areas of Ilia, there were no such things as Hurricanes there, just powerful snow storms.
"Amazing.." she remarked simply, and looked to the fire, prodding it a little with her lance. "..but really, I think it's just a storm, I'm not all that superstitious to believe that horrible events may be having an effect on the weather, if there are such goings on at the moment. Then again, that may be the fool notion of a country girl raised in back water Ilia. I know very little of the outside world other than what I've read. I have yet to see actual grass."
A smile worked over her lips as her eyes got larger, looking between the three men. "Hey hey! Maybe I should venture to Lycia or Sacae! I bet those places are pretty hot, I'd probably just die from the heat.." her mind wandered off topic for a moment as she hugged her weapon, dreaming of the warm sun on her face, in place of the cold breath of ever lasting winter.

Wordlessly, Faust accepted his flask back from the apparently somewhat confused girl and passed it to Darion. After she hd spoken her piece, Faust lightly cleared his throat and said "One can never be too certain. It is long-standing lore that Mother Nature knows when foul events occur in Her realm." Leaning forward, he stage-whispered "It is even rumored that She keeps Ancient Beings under Her charge, Watchful Guardians, nestled amongst the trees or even disguised as a hill or dune. Why, this very cave could be the maw of some great beast, ready to devour young Maidens such as yourself!" He winked conspiratorially to denote the little joke he was having at the expense of his listener, then leaned bac and laughed lightly.
"As for your other notion: Sacae does indeed get hot...Perhaps that's why I love it so much. And the grass on the Plains grows long and luxurious in some places. When the gentle winds roll over the flat green land, it looks almost like the waves of a sea. As for Lycia...I've not been there for many a year, so My memory of it is somewhat hazy, I'm afraid."

Darion grinned as Faust passed him the flask. He took a swig of it as Faust talked, feeling the liquid burn its way down his throat and into his belly, radiating a comforting warmth.
"Ah, that's the stuff. Not Fire Water, but good," he said as he passed the flask back. "This cave, some creature? Bah, what beast would come up here to sit in the snow waiting for unwary travelers?" The mercenary chuckled as he turned to Marle. "As for Lycia and Sacae, well, the best way to find out is to go there."
"Anyways," Darion started, turning back to Faust, "we've heard Saturos' story, but you still haven't answered. What brought you up to our neck of Ilia, Faust?"

OoC: Like I said I was going to do, going to give this topic a bump since Faust hasn't posted yet.
IC: A look of scrutiny crossed her face as her eyes looked directly at Faust. Even she was not that gullible. Shaking her head, she began to stand up wordlessly, and stretch out her arms. Though, being mentioned as 'beautiful' was kind of a highlight to his whole story, which made her smile, but she ducked out of the way and went a little deeper into the cave, only to sit up against a wall, and recline, breathing deeply, before settling again, and producing a book from her bag, as well as ink and a quill.
With the dull light of the flickering fire bouncing off the cave walls, but it was sufficient enough. Licking her lips, she began to think to herself, wondering just what to write.
Today could have gone better. The man at the inn I was staying at at the last village said the weather would have stayed proper, but instead, I was ambushed by a storm. it had been awhile since I was last caught in one, and I wasn't really prepared to be stuck outside in one. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to find a cave, with what seem to be friendly men, named Saturos, Faust and Darion. To be honest, there's not much to write about, but I think I will go down to Lycia, and see if I can be hired on to be a mercenary. Might as well put that training to use.
Marle closed her book, after having let the ink dry a bit. She closed her eyes and rested her head back. Her armor was warm, and comfortable, lined with animal pelts to help with the cold weather. To some, she probably seemed like a barbarian wearing such garments, but Ilia wasn't hospitable, and worrying about appearances was childish here, or at least, where she was from.

The four talked for awhile longer, Faust merely repeating his earlier words to Saturos to answer Darion's question. While the cave dwellers conversed, the blizzard began to die down. Snow still sprinkled from the heavens, but now one could actually see into the distance; not that there was much to see in the first place. It was just snow and ice after all.
Saturos, Marle, and Darion left the cave, leaving Faust behind as he said he wished to stay behind. Saturos had simply shrugged. Not everyone was heading in the same direction in life, so he simply bid Faust adieu and walked back out into the snow.
After walking for awhile, Saturos turned to his new found traveling companions. "So, travel buddies, where to?"

Marle gave a large yawn as she followed closely behind Saturos and Darion, her eyelids felt heavy, tired, but not fatigued physically. She looked up at him and shrugged her shoulders first, as if half listening to what he asked, but then took another breath of cold air, the steam becoming a slow mist infront of her face as it transfered through the scarf she wore infront of her mouth.
"Good question, I've lived in Ilia forever, but I don't know really where anything is. I know of a temple, but I think it's a good hike from here."
Marle gave Saturos a pretty empty expression, with an added shrug. She really had no idea what to do in this case. Usually, she just wandered around until she stumbled upon things. It wasn't very helpful at all.

"Hmm, temple, temple..." Darion mused aloud. Then, his eyes lit up as it clicked. "Ah, yea! That temple." The mercenary nodded to himself. "The temple of... um... Well, anyways, my dad told me about it. It's about a good two day hike or so from here right?" he questioned Marle.
"Anyways, that'll make a good first stop. From there, we can figure out which way to the closest border." Darion looked around before saying, "Um, it's that way isn't it?" pointing in a random direction.

"Well, then, I guess we're going that way," said Saturos jovially, "On the road again! Trudging through the snow, two men and a..." He stopped talking, squinting and looking into the distance. A band of figures were approaching them. More travelers? How oddly surprising. As the figures approached, Saturos could see that they were dressed in furs and armed with a variety of blunt objects and stabbing weapons. "Well, well, we seem to have ourselves a band of veritable cavemen," he said with a wink to his partners.
Approaching the barbarous man at the front of the group, Saturos nodded his head and outstretched his hand. "My name is Saturos, and you would be...?" he asked with grin. The man grinned back, but his smile didn't seem so friendly. Swinging his axe at his side, the bearded fellow grunted. "Looks like we've got ourselves a couple of lonely travelers ripe for the picking," he rasped to his hairy comrades. Saturos grimaced and withdrew his hand. "Ah, my mistake, it looks like we've stumbled onto a couple of bandits," he said, turning his head back to Marle and Darion. "I apologize, but I think they're going to try and kill us."

Marle's emerald coloured eyes shifted slowly to Darion as he asked his questions. She herself was absorbed with the wonderful snow covered land most called a wasteland. Humming quietly while he spoke, she began to laugh as she watched his demeanor, wondering what exactly he was trying to get at, but still, she laughed. She shook her head and stuck her tongue out musingly, and pointed in the correct direction for them to follow.
"You have no idea what you're talking about, do ya? It's that way!"
Smirking, she took up to following Saturos, lance in hand, the tip dragging through the snow as the res of the length jutted upwards along her forearm, and along her back, as if holding it like a staff at her back. Marle didn't see the men coming towards her at first, her eyes were on the ground looking for footprints, but she was startled by Saturos' comment on travelers, but kept quiet, until the men were much closer in her view, causing her to mutter silently.
"Oh no.."
She put a hand to her face and shook her head regretfully. This was a pretty common sight among Ilia's wilderness., which was quite sad, really. Her eyes became locked on them, and her lips tightened, as she brought her lance around front, as if to defend herself.
She shifted a glance to Saturos, a bit bewildered by his calm, almost playful manner. She was scared, but showed herself to be stronger willed, not having really been in a true fight before.
"Oh goodie..."

Darion's hand raised to rub the back of his neck when Marle pointed out the right direction. "Hehe. Of course it is, I was just testing you," he said with a grin. She had a good laugh.
He turned his gaze to Saturos as they walked, trying to discern anything about him from his body movement. Because of this, he noticed Saturos tense up slightly right before he spoke.
"Well, well, we seem to have ourselves a band of veritable cavemen."
Darion listened to his little exchange with the man in front before chuckling, deciding to go along with Saturos' calm.
"They're going to kill us?" he said flippantly. "I was more worried when you said they were cavemen." The mercenary took up a relaxed stance with his arms hanging loose, ready to grab his sword at a moment's notice.
"So, how should we respond?" he quietly asked with a small smile, completely at odds with his hard eyes and voice like velvet covered steel.

Saturos's right arm, hidden under his cloak, gripped the handle of his sword. He continued, however, to put on a pleasant face, his exposed arm held up to halt his comrades. "Well let's not be hasty," he said with a grin, "perhaps they are simply addled by the cold and mistaking us for fruit, you know, with all this talk of ripeness and picking." Saturos looked the bandit leader in the eye, his deep red eyes meeting the man's muddy brown gaze. "I will have you know that we are not fruit, nor do we taste very good." The bearded barbarian merely stared back at Saturos, a sneer on his face. "You're quite the talker, aren't ya? Trying to make me look like a fool? You may not be a fruit, but I'm sure that fancy armor you're wearing will sell for a pretty penny," spat the man, raising his axe above his head. "Kill 'em." The man grunted as he brought his axe down upon Saturos. Drawing his sword as quickly as he could, Saturos managed to redirect the heavy weapon as he sidestepped the blow. "Well now, the gloves are off I see, however, three on seven is hardly fair. Be warned, however: If I was a fruit, I would be a barbed like a pine-whoops!" exclaimed Saturos as he dropped his sword. He crouched quickly and picked his blade out of the ice, wiping off the snow. He laughed awkwardly. "Sorry...I would be barbed like a pineapple." Saturos raised an eyebrow and smiled. You couldn't be sure if it was all an act if he he really was just clumsy at times. "Are you still in a bloodthirsty mood?"
His only reply was a simple grunt from the leader as the band of men moved closer, brandishing their weapons.

Marle saw Saturos' hand go up, warding her back, so she took a more relaxed stance as she watched him curiously, catching a man out the corner of her eye, giving her a good once-over, licking at his fat lips. She closed her eyes and shuddered from his continued starng, and instead took to looking at Saturos, glancing every now and then to Darion, almost questioningly.
She chortled a little from his mannerisms, knowing that he was trying to get some sort of provocation from him, and it seemed to have worked. She jumped a bit in place at the sound of metal ringing on metal, it was loud and with such force. her eyes went a little wider, feeling her heart throbbing in her chest, especially so when he dropped his sword, cussing under her breath.
"Great way to dissolve the tension, Saturos.."
She gave him a sly look, she was obviously being sarcastic, but yet, she was trying to play tough. As the men advanced, the one who had been ogling her for the entire time began to advance upon her, thumbing his dull sword in his hands. This only served to make her back away, drawing her lance forwards, into a prime attacking position.
"'ey boss, lookit this one, thinks she's sum sorta fightah! Ah-ha! Could probably sell 'er as well as this 'ere armor, ya think?"
"Oh, not in your life!"
With a swift motion, she lunged forwards with her lance, aiming high, and to strike the man in the shoulder, but with a quick motion of his own, the brigand slapped her lance away, and simply waggled a finger at her, causing her to growl under her breath.
"Nuh-uh, girls should be'ave right proper like girls shoulda."

Seeing as the Saturos' attempts to dissolve the hostile situation failed, Darion drew his sword from his back. He saw one of the brigands going for Marle, but quickly looked back to the others advancing on him and Saturos.
Seeing one of the enemy try to take the myrmidon from the flank while he was preoccupied with the leader, Darion quickly stepped up saying, "Now what do you think you're doing?" while slamming his small buckler into the back of the brigand's head, sending the man into dreamland. Darion's face took on a disbelieving look as he said, "Not the brightest bunch, are you? Did you forget about me?"
"Now now," the mercenary chided, "that wasn't very nice. If you want to play with us, ask nicely." He chuckled as he slid into a stance next to Saturos. Out of the side of his mouth, he whispered to his ally, "I'll distract them, take them then."
With that, the big mercenary bum rushed the brigands with a battlecry, laying about with his sword.

Saturos nodded in response to Darion, but remained silent. His eyes jumped over towards Marle getting her spear slapped down by a pot-bellied brute. She seemed a little outmatched. If things got bad, he'd jump in, but for now, Saturos had his own opponent to worry about.
Saturos tried to sidestep the brutish leader in front of him, but the man stepped in front of his path. "Will you not move and let me by? I have to go assist my comrade against your flunkies," he said, nodding his head in Darion's direction. The bearded degenerate merely shook his head. "Sorry, mate. Your fight is with me," he replied, not letting his gaze move from Saturos. "Are you sure? I really must insist; he's fighting four men over there," persisted Saturos. The man just shook his head again. "Tell you what: If you manage to kill me, you can go right past." The man laughed gruffly. "Fat chance of that!" The hairy ogre swung his axe at Saturos, who blocked the blow again and sidestepped. Angered by his second miss, he quickly rebounded and attempted a rising cut, which Saturos blocked again, forcing the swordsman to step back. "Are you just going to keep running? What a coward!" The man swung again, though a wasted effort as Saturos was already too far away to hit.
"I'm sorry, but in all seriousness, that axe of yours is frightening. If I get to close, I might get myself killed," said Saturos in his usual manner. The axeman just bared his teeth. "That's the point, idiot," he said swinging again. Saturos brought his sword up to block, but the force of the blow knocked the blade right out of his hands. "Ah! See what I mean? That kind of strength could kill!" he exclaimed, hopping over to his sword to pick it up. The bandit, obviously frustrated at Saturos' attitude, growled and rushed at Saturos as he was picking up his sword.
In one motion, the myrmidon picked up his sword and thrust it into the man's gut, stopping the savage in his tracks. The man snarled at Saturos as he staggered back, blood dripping from the sword in his gut. "Gruh...?" he grunted in anger. Saturos shrugged. "I may be rusty and out of practice, but frankly, you suck," he said. "Brute strength alone just leaves you full of holes, and I mean that quite literally." The man dropped his axe, kneeling on the ground and clutching his stomach. Saturos stepped closer. "You're going to die anyways, so no point in letting you suffer." With a quick, clean cut, Saturos cut the man's throat. The man gargled and fell to the ground. His dirty, red blood stained the pure white snow. Turning towards Darion, Saturos sighed. "Well that was quite the thrill."

She could hear the gurgling of blood as well as the slashing of flesh, looking for a moment to see Saturos easily dismissing the lead of the group. However, her assailant didn't notice as much as she did, and was drawn back to him with the sound of him clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth, and her eyes came back to him, in time to see his sword rushing down. Quickly, she rose her lance up above her head, and held it with both hands, hearing the crash of his blade on the long shaft of her lance.
She gritted her teeth up at the larger man, her plated boots digging into the snow, as well as the ground beneath. The brigand was attempting to squash her under the weight of his strength with the sword, but she held her ground, and began pushing back up, having the better leverage. In a quick motion, she burst full with energy, and sent his sword arm back a bit, and brought the rounded end of her lance up across the side of the man's face before leaping back a few paces, while he reeled from the sudden blow which caught him by surprise.
"Oww..."
The fat man rubbed the side of his head, his hand covered with a small amount of blood as she barely broke the skin with the blunt backside of her lance. not wasting any time, he charged forwards, striking in a wide ark with his sword, meaning to lop off her head, but she quickly ducked down under it and countered with a swift kick to his stomach, sending him hurtling backwards again.
