Chelsea woke with a great yawn. Rubbing her eyes, she slid out of bed. She left the room in just her nightgown, not bothering to change yet. She'd change after she got some of the food she was smelling. As she followed her nose, she thought about how long it had been since she had had a true breakfast. Lost in her thoughts, she wandered into the kitchen. Just as she passed behind Saffra, her wings shot out in a great surprise to Chelsea. She yelped out and fell back, in a state of shock.
It took her a few seconds to recover, and when she did she got to her still shaking legs. Trying to shake it off the best she could, she helped herself to some oatmeal and fell into the seat next to Saffra. "Next time..." she said sheepishly and with a slight blush, "I think a 'good morning' will do just fine..."

"Woah!" Gabriel fell to the floor(chair included) from the shock. "Please, PLEASE don't do that all of a sudden. Especially when I've just woken up" he said, getting up. He noticed that Chelsea had also entered the room as Saffra did that. The poor girl was as startled as he was. "Good morning, Chelsea".
"I just had a bad dream, that's all" answering Saffra's question. A disturbingly vivid bad dream.
"So, Saffra, what are you doing here?" Gabriel was not surprised with her being a dragon. It was just...weird. Anyone who had heard of five years ago would know that dragons had been sighted in Ilia and Bern, all three of those incidents almost destroying entire cities.
"That dragons still exist is now common knowledge among nobles and the higher ranks of any country's military, but I never expected to meet one in my life". As with most children, he had been told the story of the Scouring, and how humans had driven dragons away from the land. However, he had always figured that the entire deal probably hadn't been as simple as 'the dragons went crazy and are killing us'. That was probably just humanity's excuse to get rid of dragons.

OoC: Sorry I didn't respond Chelsea. I couldn't find the time to get on this weekend.
IC: Karina tossed and turned all night, unable to find peace in her mind. She dreamed she was back in her destroyed village. It was approaching winter of her last year in the wild, and the crops that had had grown in their farmers' absence were all but gone. She had stored all she could in a wreaked basement, and now spent her time hunting for any animals that had not yet gone into hibernation. She returned to her lean-to with nothing but a squirrel as her prize, which she threw to one of her dog guardians. She grabbed a small apple from her stores and ate it slowly.
The two dogs were all that were left of the pack that had survived the blizzard with her. The rest had either died or left in their search for food. Karina sighed as she watched a storm cloud make its way towards them. The two dogs curled up beside her, and she fastened the cloth door of the lean-to to the ground with sticks. Darkness set in, and brought with it a storm that reminded her all to well of the blizzard that had destroyed her life. She buried her face in the dog's coat and whispered in the language she hardly knew anymore, "when will I die?"
Karina woke up to find her roommate had already gotten up and left the room. She slipped out of bed and got dressed. She chose to leave her armor off, and chose a white dress from her pack. She didn't know why she packed the dress, maybe she thought she would meet a noble and need to look nice, or maybe she just packed it accidentally. It was a simple linen gown with no lace or trimming, but when on her slim frame, Karina looked almost like a princess.
She walked out to the dining room or Rayl's manner and greeted everyone. "Excuse me Sir Rayl, for sleeping so long. I did not sleep much on my journey, and needed the rest. Thank you again for allowing me to stay." she smiled at the knight.

The sudden interruption from Gabriel was also welcome to Rayl as it allowed the knight a brief moment to recollect himself...however, he still moved back just a slight bit when Saffra spread her wings out, and watched with a hidden smirk as Gabriel and Chelsea hit the floor in shock. It was at this moment he had realized he had spilled his own oatmeal, which Dakota was now lapping up, and as he got up to clean the tabletop, the young pegasi knight Karina came in a white dress...white...it always reminded him of her hair...
he mentally shook his head to shake off thoughts of Persephone, before continuing," That is alright madame Karina, feel free to stay around as long as you need...So tell me friends, what do you need of me before I set off for work? And what are your plans?" He knew full well what Saffra and Chelsea needed to do, and as such these remarks were addressed mainly to young flyer and Gabriel...mostly Gabriel concerning his potential recruitment.

Karina curtsied to Rayl and said, "I appreciate your hospitality very much, Sir Rayl, and wish to pay you back for it. being a noble, you must want protection. I am not the most experienced rider, but I offer you my lance and my loyalty as a pegasus knight." She looked around the table, wondering if Chelsae or Gabriel were part of his guard. She didn't suspect Saffra to be employed by him, she had only known him since yesterday as well. She looked back to Rayl, right in his eyes, and gave him a small smile, as if to show her good intentions.

Rayl returned Karina's smile, before opening one of the kitchen's windows," I have a better idea. As I have business with my Marquess and his Court, would you wish for me to petition to have you enlisted under our forces? I am sure that my lord would find your skills useful, and you would have a steady income...what say you?" around this moment Elibe stuck his head on through having smelled the oats. he couldn't help but laugh as he re-filled his own bowl and held it out to his lifetime friend, who began to happily munch on the meal:
"Tell me Karina, how are your skilled with your lance? I have some target dummies set out on the far side of the field if you would like some help later."

Karina smiled, but her eyes showed doubt. Serving under a younger noble with seemingly no army of his own would be a good experience, but she did not know how well she would be able to deal with the vast crowd of people serving under a marquess. She had felt comfortable around these people, but now that she thought about the number of people who served under the marquess, her fear of people shook her voice. "I...I appreciate the offer to use your own status to find me a job, b-but I think I would be better off finding a small band of mercenaries..."

Chelsea ate her oatmeal silently, listening in as the other talked. She knew Rayl wasn't really expecting an answer from her, as she had already told him she both wanted to look for her father and work on her archery. She was half-hoping that he'd offer to show her to some kind of area where she could practice, but if not she could find some place on her own. She was good at that.
At Rayl's offer to Karina about enlisting in the Pherae forces, she wondered if she'd be asked to join too. And if she was, what would her answer be? She had no ill will against Pherae, yet she also had no loyalty towards it either. She'd also be up against all kinds of adversities from the other archers, thinking her worse than them simply because she was from Sacae.
When Karina spoke about possibly leaving to find a band of mercenaries to join, she finally spoke up. "If you leave, how can I keep my promise? I can't keep enemy archers away from you if you're not here. I'm not saying I think you should join the army, but you don't have to leave..."

"if that is your choice I have no reason to sway your decisions," He set down the empty bowl and Elibe disappeared from the window, heading back to the other animals outside,"although if you were to enlist in Pherae's military, chances are you would be placed under my authority as I came up with the suggestion. I don't really lead any knights as I've mostly taken to only helping to train recruits. I'd say being one in a group is pretty small." he laughed but didn't enforce the thought, merely heading for the door where he was met by Fang, Elibe, and one of the horses, before they just seemed to escort him on outside: he had work to do anyways. Grabbing a pitchfork leaning against the estate, he made his way around (which took some time) to the kitchen window,
"Before I forget: try looking in the town this monster of a house overlooks, Saffra and Chelsea. People are often coming in and out. Should someone disrupt you in your business, tell them you are under instruction from myself...just in case." with a smile he headed off and back to the barn to go about his work. He'd ride back to Castle Pherae soon enough.

Saffra was quite pleased with herself on how she acted. Sure, it was a bit mean, making Chelsea and Gabriel tumble over themselves, but she needed a bit of a laugh. She sat quietly for the time when Karina came out of her sleep, the poor thing, running on very little rest as she explained it for her. Still, the white dress complemented her got an approved nod of her head from it.
For the while, she sat, and listened, with an empty bowl infront of her. Standing, once Rayl left, she gave a small nod of her head once more, and went and cleaned off her dishes, before going back to her room, and changing back into her traveling clothes. Once she was out, to those that were still there, she gave them all a small grin and a shrug.
"I think I'm going to go into town..I have business to conduct."
In her hand was the staff she had brought with her, using it as a walking stick with how large it was. It didn't take long until she was outside once more, the wind felt nice, sweeping back her hair, feeling it dance as the wind blew through each strand, and felt almost the same with her wings. With them fully outstretched, she felt like it was going to blow her away, but she stood her ground well, standing there just for a moment longer, planning on exactly where to be going.

Chelsea finished her food quietly. When she finished, she washed her bowl and made her way back to her room. As she slowly dressed, she wondered if she'd find anything in town related to her father. She hoped so, she really did. But she wasn't gonna get it up too high, she had a feeling in the pit of her stomach that she wouldn't find anything here. Once she was dressed, she went back to the kitchen to find Gabriel and Karina.
"I'm heading into town too. There's something I have to look for there... If you need me, for whatever, just come looking." She turned to Karina. "You're not allowed to leave before I can come back and say goodbye. Roommate privilege." She gave a small smile before she headed out the door.

Karina clasped her hands to her chest and yelled to Chelsea, "wait for me!" She was about to run after the archer when, without thinking, she dashed back to their room and grabbed her lance. It must have looked comical for any passersby to see a small girl in a dress holding a lance and running after an archer, but Karina didn't quite care about what travelers though of her; she had the opportunity to make a friend, and she was not going to let it slip through her hands.
She had made it to her archer's side, smiled, and said, "I spoke too soon back in the manor. I thought you were part of Sir Rayl's guard, or a mercenary hired to protect him." Karina held her lance out to her side awkwardly, trying to make a defensive gesture, "plus, a lone archer shouldn't be going into a town alone. Not without someone who can attack up front." she laughed. She wasn't sure if it was an appropriate thing to laugh about, but she was trying to make small talk.

Gabriel had been left alone in the kitchen. He had been expecting that, seeing how he had made no comment after getting up, not even answering Rayl's question. He got up from the table and washed his bowl as well. The first time he was washing dishes, actually. He was friends with the maids and butlers back at home, though, so he knew how to do most house chores efficiently.
"I guess it's time to make my decision" he said out loud to no one in particular, and headed out of the house. He headed towards town, seeing how different from Delfia it was. Small caravans and horseriders were in leaps and bounds, covering the city from top to bottom. Commerce was probably one of the city's strongest points. And there it was, standing tall: Pherae's castle. There were a couple of guards at the entrance, which he got close to.
"I seek an audience with the marquess. I am a noble, escaping from Etruria. Here, you may even keep my magic tome until I leave the castle, if you wish. My name is Gabriel Waltz." He just wished for them to understand that he meant no harm whatsoever. His linen clothes were quite dirty and ragged by now, after having gone through the mountains and plains, so little remained to show his lineage. But he hoped that the guards would believe him.

Having finished his chores, Rayl armored up as he did so to Elibe, and once the mighty horse's saddle was on the knight mounted up and rode off, leaving the animals in safety under the watchful eyes of Dakota and Fang. It didn't take Elibe long to reach the town, and as he rode through he was waved to by the friendly locals, glad to see their friend and protector home safely. Arriving at the gates of Castle Pherae, the guards at the gate saluted him,,"This man claims he is an Etrurian Noble. Shall we allow him to pass Sir Rayl?" returning the salute to his men, he gave a smile to the young mage," At ease gentlemen. This young man speakth the truth, and is in my company, I will escort him to our marquess. Carry on as you were."
Did he just say speakth? He must have picked up some speech habits from Barigan as the gates opened up,' Come along young master Gabriel, our lord awaits." the knight only could have guessed Gabriel's intentions on arriving to the castle so soon.

Chelsea gave a little giggle at that. "No, I guess not. Safety in numbers, as they say." She then fell quiet again. She wasn't really sure how to approach this. She had a feeling that she and Karina could become friends, but she wasn't very good around other people. The only friend she'd ever really had was Nathan and he was pre-made. She didn't want to mess this up, so she tried to focus. What did friends talk about?
"So, um..." she looked up. The sky was always her version of a security blanket. It always made her feel safe. "How about the weather? It's a beautiful day, don't you think?" Did she do that right? Man, this is hard.
