Chelsea slipped down from Spirit as Kelvin hugged his father. At being addressed, she gave a small bow to both of his parents. "I am Chelsea of the Rikuri." She used her tribe name because now that he father was gone, she was the only one left. And she wanted to keep the name as long as she could. To her, it was now a badge of honor. "I'm a member of the same group as both Kelvin and Merio, and for a time Sir Rayl too. They're all very honorable men."

Merio had followed the two from behind, just in case. After all... they were headed toward their parents...
Mother, and father... even though it's only been mere weeks since their leaving... And, yet... it's good to be home. After Chelsea introduces them, he goes up, his horse's reins in his hands.
"Kelvin, we did not return to Caelin to introduce your fience to Mother and Father. Chelsea, I've fallen a bit behind, what were our mission? On a completely seperate note, Mother... and Father... it is good to see you both in good health."
The mother runs up to Merio, and they embrace. She examines his body, and checks the armor for nicks and those sort of things. "Merio! What happened! Scratches, all over that brilliant red! Oh, you've been fighting with your brother again, haven't you? By the Saints, you know that Kelvin won't be able to compete against you!"
Merio checks his mother's hair... white streaks. It's been only a couple of weeks, and yet she still worries herself sick. "Mother, we are fine. No, I have not been fighting. We met with bandits, and almost lost. If it weren't for Sir Rayl, we would have been killed, I'm sure of it. No, Mother, don't!" He comforts his mother as she turns pale at the thought of Merio being mauled by the bandits. "Mother, we are fine, now. And... I'd hate to admit it... but Kelvin is the more skilled one. I am sure that he will be the one to bring fame to the Calderon family." The cavalier chuckles... "Besides, I'm most likely to be the one that cleans up after the mess he'll make. Feh, the one who plans and prepares is never acknowledged."
Merio walks up to Kelvin and Chelsea and sighs... "Alright. We'll stay and enjoy a meal. I have that feeling that we'll be left behind in the dust if we don't leave soon. A short meal, an even shorter talk, and then we leave."

Before Chelsea could answer Merio his mother embraced him and she didn't want to be rude. Seeing Kelvin and his father, Merio and his mother made her pine for her own family, only to remember they were all gone. Her eyes started to swim with tears again as her thoughts dwelled on them. She quickly pulled her headband down over her eyes so the pair's parents wouldn't see her breaking down so soon. She turned towards Spirit, rubbing her as she cried softly. She wished she could have her parents hold her like that, fuss over her... But she couldn't... not ever again...

Kelvin blushed as Merio called Chelsea his fiance. So far this had been a very embarrassing day for Kelvin. He then noticed that she was crying, probably about her father. It was a bad idea to take her here, where family love was strong. "You'll have to excuse Chelsea, she's had some rough times lately. I'll take her inside where it's quiet." Kelvin moved over to Chelsea and tapped her on the shoulder, "You alright?"

Gabriel didn't even have the chance to answer to Kelvin's remark. As long as they came back by noon, it'd be alright. It was almost two hours until then.
Wyatt approached then, carrying a hammer that was even longer than the mage himself. Gabriel took a step back, already off his horse, surprised. "How can you even CARRY that?" the mage exclaimed, before realizing he hadn't even answered Wyatt's question to begin with. "It went rather well. I think. They only provided us with 20 soldiers, though Rayl had said that Caelin wouldn't be able to give us much support. The nation is rather small, after all."
"Gabriel" the voice came from behind him. Lucy was calling for him, as she approached the boys. "What you did there was admirable, even if Lady Saffra wasn't in any real danger. You showed promise back when I met you, and Rayl even decided to name you second in command, in spite of your age and having met you recently. I believe you deserve proper recognition."
One of the cavaliers came closer, bringing a set of clothes and a book. It was a sort of jacket that doubled as a cloak, and a tome. An Elfire tome. He remembered having seen his father use one, long ago. Closer inspection showed that the jacket had a zipper that closed it at the front, and that it was blue and gold, the colors of Pherae.
"You are formally citizen of Pherae now, as well as a member of it's army. Congratulations."
"T-thank you" he said, bowing, as he took the tome and clothes. His cape was ragged, due to the week he spent crossing the mountains between Ilia and Sacae, so it was a very welcome change. "Thank you very much, Lady Lucy". He took his cape off as he put on the jacket. It was kind of big, but it would do.

Wyatt looked back at the massive war maul. "It's not that heavy...I mean I've been working with raw metal all my life, it's just second nature by now. Plus this sort of thing is great against armor. Armor may block swords and arrows, but blunt force is where it is weak. That's why we can use hammers to forge and repair it." He explained, but then became quiet as Gabriel was addressed.
After the little 'ceremony' he clapped the mage on the back with one hand, as his other hand held the hammer, rested on his shoulder. "Nice job Gabriel! Guess you're a real man now eh?"

Chelsea gave a small nod and sniffed quietly. She wiped her eyes on her headband and pushed it up. When she spoke, her voice sounded distant. "Ya... Ya I'm fine..." She forced herself to stop thinking about her family and pulled herself back into the present. She then forced herself to smile at him. "Really, I'm ok."

Merio sighed, and came to Kelvin and Chelsea. "You two... Alright. Let's go inside and eat something." He smiles, and goes inside. "Mother, I hope you can still bake your cakes." The two walk inside, as Merio sighs and lies down in his room.

Kelvin gave Chelsea a small grin. "Alright if you're sure you're alright." Kelvin began lead Chelsea toward the house. "I hope you like fish. That's all that mother ever cooks," Kelvin said opening the door for Chelsea. "Too bad we only have until noon. I'd have really liked to let you meet some of the horses."

The archer gave him a soft smile. "Fish is fine. And we can still meet the horses quickly." She stepped slowly into the house, looking around as she did. It was nice, she thought. She looked for a few seconds before sitting down lightly at the nearby table. As she waited quietly, she tried to keep her thoughts away from her own family and her own house. She gave another small smile to Kelvin and closed her eyes while she waited.

He held a hammer in his hand and had a nail clenched in his teeth. It was a bit dangerous, but the horses trusted him well enough. He grabbed the last nail from his and steadily hammered it in to place.
Tink. Tink. Tink.
The hammer repeated at a steady beat until the deed was done. That was it, the last horseshoe and it was nearly time to eat. Valcrist stood up and patted the horse he just fitted. "That's a good boy..." He said making soft cooing noises and petting the horse.
Setting his tools down, and brushing the dirt off of his blue shirt, he left the stables and walked towards the home of his employers. He could even smell the fish from here, Mrs. Calderon loved to make fish. He saw some figures near the home, walking towards it. Figuring it was the couple that hired him, he rushed towards them with a smile. "Hey Mr. and Mrs. Calderon, I'm done with Lightning's horseshoes. I'll work on Honey's late... Wait, who are you two?" These two were not the couple he thought, for one they were far too young. For another... erm... they were far too young.

Kelvin wheeled around to a strange sight. A tan-skinned boy stood before him. Kelvin had never seen this boy before and his tan skin meant he wasn't from these parts. "I'm Kelvin Calderon. My parents own this ranch. This is my friend Chelsea. But, who are you?"

"Oh, Kelvin. Your mother talks about you all the time... I mean all the time." He smiled with a short laugh. "You and your brother. She's really worried about you two." He added, a small twinge of guilt in his heart as he thought back to his own mother and how he suddenly left. He sent letters to her, and even got some back from time to time, but... "I'm Valcrist. I'm working on your parents ranch for the time being fitting horseshoes."

Harlow had just been passing through the countryside of Caelin, admiring the beautiful landscape. It reminded him a bit of how Ostia had been before...
He winced. The anguish hit him hard in the stomach, almost causing him to double over. He shouldn't be so torn up about Ostia. After all, there were a lot of bad memories of life in Ostia, and he hadn't lived there in five years anyways. But his mother...
Best push those thoughts aside for now. There were much more pressing matters at hand - like the smell of fish frying on the oven in the ranch house he had spotted nearby. He hadn't eaten a proper meal in a few days - he was only just barely conscious of the fact that he had been stumbling almost aimlessly eastward through Lycia, walking in a daze since he'd witnessed Ostia's destruction. He had stopped briefly in Laus, stayed in an inn and spent a little money on the upkeep of his equipment - his bowstring had been wearing thin and needed replacing - and now was near out of gold and had given up on buying meals a few days ago. Since then, he'd been foraging for food, and hunting what wild game he could - and, he hated to admit it, but he'd helped himself to some of the fruits of the labors of local farmers a few times. But it was hardly the lion's feast. And besides, all this trudging about had really muddied up his trousers, and his hair was probably a tangled mess by now.
Which had brought him to where he was now, standing outside the door of the ranch house with the delicious aroma wafting through the windows. He stood there for a long while, trying to decide whether or not to knock on the door. He could hear bits of conversation seeping through the walls, but couldn't make out more than a few words.
"Well, there's nothing for it," he thought. "The worst they can do is turn me away. Which I wouldn't be surprised if they did, the state I'm in..." And with that, he rapped three times at the door and waited to see who would answer.

Chelsea stayed quiet as Kelvin and this new boy talked. She had to admit she was relieved that Kelvin called her his friend and not fiance like his brother had. That scared her. At first, things were going too fast... She liked it now. It was nice to get to know him for a bit. That's why she had been scared, but it was clear now Kelvin didn't think that and for that she was happy.
In her mind, it was clear that one of the two people occupying her mind was pulling away. Not to say she didn't still have feelings for both, but one was certainly "in the lead" as it were. If things kept going this way, she knew who she'd end up with and which she'd keep as her best friend. Just after thinking this, she was torn from her thoughts by three loud knocks on the door. She looked towards Kelvin to see what he'd do.
