As the recruits began to break up due to Arthis' command, Marle breathed a small sigh, brought a hand to her head and rubbed at her eyes. Damn kids..this won't be the last time I'll be questioned.. Looking to Arthis as he directed his attention towards her once more, she frowned and shook her head at his question, but at the same time, she shrugged, giving a mixed answer.
"Not sure, My strength is coming back to me quickly enough, but I don't think I'm up for any training right now."
Marle then squatted on the ground, lance still over her right shoulder, clutching to it tightly so it wouldn't topple over from the heaviness of the pointed end. She just stared at the dirt covered snow for a moment, and then peered up at the tower of a man.
"Arthis, what is the world like? I've only left Ilia once, and that was very briefly, only for a few days...I want to travel the world a bit, I'm tired of being ignorant of the way things are, and learning of happenings weeks or even months past until I hear it."

"Duh na... duh na..." Elias slinked and slunk around like a thief, a sneaky ninja of unparalleled sneakiness. He was invisible to the naked and fully clothed eye, and it was also really hard to see him. In fact, he was impossible to find... if not for the fact he was really bad at sneaking and was completely easy to see. His bright red outfit, his self sung sneaking music, he basically screamed 'NOTICE ME' without saying a single word.
"Duh na duh na duh na duh na..." His tempo picked up a bit as he located his target, he quickened and moved really fast, and really sneaky.
"I see you, you know."
"..." Elias froze right there, one leg midstep and hands raised in the 'Crimson Pose of Sneaking!' that will be famous one day. He remained there for a few moments in silence. "...Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Obviously you must have legendary sight of the eagle, else you'd never find me so easily." He dropped the ridiculous pose, and assumed a different, slightly less ridiculous one.
The man stared at the red teenager, wondering if he was dreaming, but just sighed it off. "Why not. What did you need boy?" The middle aged man said with a slightly exasperated tone in his voice. He wasn't a part of the military, but rather a merchant who came to help the outfit outfit themselves. His escort stood there silently like the Crimson Messenger, and ignored this little bit of oddness.
"I was wondering what you know about super powerful magic spells that will make me twice as powerful! Or twice as fast. Oooh, how about both!" Elias had a wide smile on his face, this man must have some legendary relic to give the hero.
"Hrm, I have an Elfire tome that's more powerful then a fire tome by many times. You want it kid?" He was a bit apprehensive about selling magic to such a... person. But gold was gold, no matter how weird the person holding it was.
"Perfect! Bigger fires mean much much damage of doom!" Elias hopped on the spot, a wide smile... he looked utterly ridiculous.
"Well then, that'll be 1200 gold, I'll go get it now."
"What." He looked at the man completely bewildered. He shook his head and laughed nervously. "No, I don't have that kind of gold. You're supposed to give it to me for free." He smiled.
"You... you don't honestly expect me to give you such a thing for free, do you?" He was at a loss for words.
"Yes."
"Why on earth would I do that?"
Elias posed dramatically. "Because I'm a hero!"
There was a tense, awkward silence, which was filled with little else then the seething glare of the merchant and the Crimson mage's quickly deflating ego. "Fine! I don't want your stupid magic anyway. I'll go make my own magic book. It'll be ten times better, and there'll be kittens and puppies everywhere." Elias stomped off in a huff.
Well that was a waste of time. Guess I'll have to get stronger the old fashioned way...

Arthis looked over her at her question.
"Those sound like the thoughts of a deserter to me. What, has life as a commander been too much for you already?" He said, his eyes ripping through her. "Didn't you have to do a stint as a grunt before you were promoted to a Knight? Most people haven't left their home country except for wars, and trust me there will be a war soon enough."
He towered over her, as if judging her. "Do you intend to run from your country and duty? That is what could be expected of a child, I suppose."

Marle turned her gaze upwards to Arthis, and slowly stood up, propping herself up with the butt of her weapon once more, and raised an eyebrow to the wyvern rider, and gave a disbelieving laugh. Nodding her head a bit, not about the desertion, but something else he said.
"Yes, that would be the act of a child, but to look into something that's not there is the edge of arrogance for a fool."
Her eyes were casual towards him, but she knew what she called him, and would not be deterred by a brute. Crossing her arms, only after fixing her coat, she kept that level gaze upon him, as if challenging him to look away.
"I wouldn't think about leaving my command, nor is it your place to be pining over if I am. I will die for it, if I must, but better to live in it's service, than die. You should really watch your tongue."
Again, she lifted an eyebrow, is f musing, but she kept an unspoken threat about, spinning her weapon in place like a top.
"Again, I'll ask, what do you know of the world? I know only what was taught to me, and what is in the history books."
Flicking her gaze across the field, she stared down at one of the soliders who was looking her way, and then turned her gaze away once the other's had.
"Our unit won't have long to train up, we'll be leaving the country on reconnaissance to see what the Eturian army has been up to. Last reports is that a branch of it has been put in Sacae. That was in the report the night I met you."

Arthis stared her down as she barked back at him, and the oddest thing happened. He smiled, a full on grin across his stone face. Having never shown a real smile, the sight might be a little unnerving.
"Good." He responded simply. "I'd say your learning what it means to be a leader now. You, of course, understand people expect you to defend your choices and tactical decisions now. Don't be intimidated."
He pulled a simple world map from his pocket, laying it flat on a table and holding the sides in place with small daggers. "Last I had heard, the Ertuian Inquisitional Army had moved into Sacae, to a temporary outpost called Salvation Point around here." He said gesturing to the map. "Intelligence gathered says that the commander of this outfit is a man by the name of Richter Abend, a newly appointed officer in the Erturian army. We don't have much information on the man, but we do know this. He was present and one of the commanders when Ostia fell. If we are heading to investigate them, we'd best be careful." He stopped for a moment.
"Something else of note though, apparently there have been a lot of odd sightings in Sacae. Intelligence suggested that people looked as if they were ripped apart by 'monsters'. I'm not sure how much I believe of that, but after all the ghost stories springing up about what happened at Ostia, there might be something to it. Maybe an Ertuian rumor to sow distress in the people? I'd say that fort deserves to be checked up on, at the very least to verify it's presence."
He stopped looking at the map and looked up at Marle, wondering what her view would be.

Marle didn't know what to think of that smile of his, but as odd as it was, the knight didn't show it. Nodding her head slowly due to his instruction, she set her lance against the ground, so she could put her attention to the map. Looking over the region of Sacae that shown on the map, and noted how detailed it was, seeing just where Arthis mentioned Salvation point possibly was, due to the intelligence.
When he mentioned Richter, she was taken back a little. At first, she didn't do much but give a pause after he was done speaking, she would address her concerns about these "monsters" later, Richter was on her mind now. Finally looking up from the unrolled map, she lifted an eyebrow towards the man, and was about to speak, but thought best to leave it for later.
"Monsters..I've heard the stories myself, about rotted bodies coming out of nowhere, and tearing people alive with sharp, fetid claws, and strange animal tracks, but nothing more...All started with the fall of the Lycian city of Ostia. Salvation point will be our first destination then. I'm not sure jumping at shadows and rumors are for the best intentions. For now, we'll march to Salvation Point and acknowledge the Eturian threat. The unknown creatures, if real, will be of secondary consideration if we find clues of them."
Taking a deep breath, she calmed herself, but she was actually worried, not about the course of action she asked, but more for stability.
"The intelligence reports that Richter Abend is commanding the Inquisitional Army? That's not possible. He is of a well known and prestigious family of mercenary around here. I can understand him having a contract to the Eturian army, but not actually leading it...I hope not...he's smarter than that..."

At her disbelief Arthis shrugged. "It wouldn't be the first time intelligence has been wrong, and he may have some ties to his homeland. But, correct me if I am wrong, Ilian Mercenaries are fiercely loyal to their employers, yes? If so I'd advise you to be prepared to face him as an enemy, just in case."
He looked at the map, somewhat annoyed by it. "So our destination is Sacae then...hmph. Give me a week with the runts. I won't be able to make soldiers out of then, but I'll make them able to not trip over their own two feet in combat."

Marle answered Arthis' question with a half-hearted nod of her head, and lightly tapped at the map with her finger, feeling a touch depressed that she would actually have to be going through with this. Sighing, she straightened up, and levelly looked over the soldiers in the yard, and then back to Arthis. With a dumb grin, she picked up her weapon and just began to turn away.
"Good advice...I hope I won't need to follow through with it. He's a good man, atleast if I remember him correctly...I haven't seen him in many years. Do what you can with the troops, Arthis, that's all I ask. I'm going to make ready provisions for the trip, horses, weapons and proper armor as well as food and the rest."
Turning to look over her shoulder, with a small nod taking that location to heart with a frown, she again looked up at Arthis.
"..In a week, we'll take leave for Sacae."
Slowly, Marle turned away to walk into the castle once more. She would have it out with the quartermaster, she knew she would.
OoC: Mind if we stop the thread here? I don't really care for roleplaying a whole weeks worth of training and everything else XD

Arthis nodded. "Aye Captain." He responded as she left, he then turned to his new recruits and began barking orders so loudly one might have thought he was trying to best his Wyvern in a shouting match.
"In ranks! Now! You're all going to know how to use those noodles you call arms to at least swing a weapon by the end of today. Because today doesn't end until you can! Now, standard four strike sets..BEGIN!"
And thus the training regimen began...
OOC: Got no problem jumping ahead.
