"Free drink?" Mikar quickly tried to remember a song. He remembered a good one and rehearsed it in his mind. He saw Lawrence walk out the door and called him over before he got too far. "Come on Lawrence were gonna do an old song fer these people. What did ya have in mind? Mikar whispered in his ear for a moment, then started to sing.
Oh, better far to live and die Under the brave black flag I fly, Than play a sanctimonious part, With a pirate head and a pirate heart. Away to the cheating world go you, Where pirates all are well-to-do; But I’ll be true to the song I sing, And live and die a Pirate King.
For I am a Pirate King! And it is, it is a glorious thing To be a Pirate King! For I am a Pirate King!
You are! Hurrah for our Pirate King! King.
And it is, it is a glorious thing To be a Pirate King.
It is! Hurrah for our Pirate King! Hurrah for the Pirate King!
When I sally forth to seek my prey I help myself in a royal way. I sink a few more ships, it’s true, Than a well-bred monarch ought to do; But many a king on a first-class throne, If he wants to call his crown his own, Must manage somehow to get through More dirty work than ever I do,
For I am a Pirate King! And it is, it is a glorious thing To be a Pirate King! For I am a Pirate King!
You are! Hurrah for the Pirate King! King.
And it is, it is a glorious thing To be a Pirate King.
About now the crowd joined in.
It is! Hurrah for our Pirate King! Hurrah for the Pirate King! Hurrah for the Pirate King!!!
Mikar ended with a bang of his mug on the table and clang of Lawrence's mug and then he chugged it all. Mikar thought today is a glorious day, for I am the Pirate King!

He sat there quitely, eating his food that was gotten for him. It tasted good, but he couldn't really concentrate and savor the flavor. He tried to smile, and nod when the other people talked, but it was mostly a vain attempt. Anyone with any trace of empathy could tell he wasn't in a good mood. Harlow talked to the pirate about something, but he didn't really pay attention. His thoughts were turned inward, as he focused on everything that had happened lately.
What started out as something wonder and grand, him finally getting a chance to travel across Lycia, was slowly rotting and showing a darker and more disturbing side. This land was in war, something he never would of guessed. How else could such a large city as Ostia be completely destroyed? Razed, burnt to the ground. And he, he was a part of a group of people seeking military aid to combat that threat. That thought of it all was enough to make him feel sick.
He stopped biting into his meat, only halfway eaten, and pushed it aside. Captain Mikar took front stage and began to sing the most odd song. When he looked up to see exactly what was going on... He saw them. How could he have been so blind, they were just across the room. A happy couple eating, dating. It was perfectly natural of course... but why did it make him feel so bad? He couldn't stick around, not right now. In the chaos created by Mikar's song he left without a word... and nobody noticed.
I should of never of even left Koroda.

Chelsea looked down, blushing. She couldn't recall the last time she was this embarrassed. She started to eat her soup quickly. She looked around and finally spotted the other from there group. She looked just in time to see a blur of blue hurry through the door. Had Valcrist been here too? She already felt bad about blowing him off earlier. "I didn't notice them earlier. How long have they been here?"

Harlow applauded heartily for Mikar and his friend when they had finished, along with some of the other customers in the cafe. Teto had come out to see what the commotion was and quickly come up with two loaves of warm bread which he gave to the two performers, smiling his big, gaping smile and shaking their hands vigorously. Harlow laughed and approached them, saying "Well, now! If that wasn't worth buying a drink for, I don't know what is! Hey, Teto, get these guys a beer each, on me!"
The song had put Harlow in pretty good spirits. But when he looked back to see how Valcrist had reacted, he found that he was no where in sight!
He got up and approached Kelvin and Chelsea for the first time since they'd come in. "Hey you two! What's going on over here?" he winked at the pair. "Hey, who knew Mikar was such a performer, eh? But hey, uh, did you guys see Valcrist? He was just here a minute ago, and now he's up and disappeared." He frowned, wondering what was up, but he shook his head and said "Eh, no matter. He can take care of himself all right, I suppose. Not too much trouble he can get into in this neighborhood. How are you guys enjoying your meal? I hope I'm not interrupting." He chuckled, seeing the way the two were politely listening to him, but were obviously waiting for him to return to his own seat so they could get back to talking to each other. He took the hint, and headed back for his seat. I was like that once, he thought. Ah, Cassidora. What ever happened to you, anyways? Suddenly, he was lost in thought, thinking back on past romances and the days of his youth.

Kelvin thought a moment, then answered Chelsea's question, "I think they've been here the whole time." Kelvin ate some of his soup, until he heard Mikar start to sing. His song was upbeat, if not a little off beat. When the others in the room joined in, Kelvin played along "It is! Hurrah for our pirate king! Hurrah for the pirate king! Hurrah for the pirate king!" Kelvin sang along, a bit better than others around him. Kelvin turned back to Chelsea, "You've got to give him credit. For a crusty old man, he sings pretty well."

Chelsea felt a pang of guilt that she hadn't noticed her newest friend. It evaporated as soon as Kelvin started singing, though. She couldn't help but laugh. And she had to admit he could sing well. "He does sing pretty well. But not as well as my favorite cavalier." She gave him a big smile as Harlow came over. She listened to him while he spoke. "I thought I saw Valcrist leave a few moments ago, but I'm not sure." As the archer walked away the pang returned. Was he ok?

It will do me good for some alone time. He sighed and looked around at the the town. It seemed to have lost it's luster after he heard about the unfortunate truth of Ostia, and he imagined that this place could easily be next. He sat on a bench besides some store he's never heard of, he didn't plan on entering he just needed a place to sit. There were too many thoughts in his head right now, bubbling and breaking like a pot of boiling water. When he wasn't thinking of Ostia, he was thinking of Harlow. When he wasn't thinking of Harlow, he was thinking of his mother. And when he wasn't thinking about his mother, he was thinking about...
Of course, it makes sense. I'm just some stupid kid she just met. Of course she'd say no to going and seeing the town with me so she could be with her boyfriend. Afterall, I'm not as strong as him. I'm not as handsome as him, and I'm not as mature as him. Wait, why am I thinking this? He rebelled against his thoughts for a moment before sighing again.
"Oh well... I guess if no one wants to see it with me, I can go by myself. I'm used to that." He said to no one and made his way to the same magic school he mentioned earlier. Maybe some sights will help put his mind at ease.

Apparently all of them had agreed on visiting this...Sir Chester. After asking a few of the citizens around, they finally found their way towards the magic academy. Only to find one of the new recruits at the entrace.
"Valcrist, was it?" Lucy said upon seeing the young man. After some hasty introductions, they decided to go into the building. "Want to come with us, Valcrist?" Gabriel said, as he opened the doors to the academy.
The place seemed almost deserted. "Sir Chester? We are looking for Sir Chester" he shouted as they entered. Maybe someone would hear them?

"Lady Lucy? What are you doing here?" He asked, confused as to why she would randomly be seeing the sights when she was supposed to be talking to the marquis. With her was Wyatt, Gabriel, and some woman he had not been introduced to yet.
"I'm here to find a Mr. Chester. He has been feeding false information to the city, and I want to see why on Elibe he would do such a thing, and to get him to retract these false accusations of Pherae." She sounded serious, almost... mad. It was a bit odd to hear someone who seems to always have it together get angry like this.
"Want to come with us, Valcrist?" Her second in command, Gabriel Waltz spoke to him. He didn't particularly know the youth, but he sounded friendly enough. Wyatt was coming along too, besides he was planning on going along in the first place.
"Yeah." He said, with a nod of the head. His little bout of depression seemed to have dissipated for now. Instead he was really curious about this place, and being with people made him feel like he wasn't quite so lonely.
No one was in there, it was the oddest thing. There was several classrooms, but as they walked around they found nothing but emptyness. No one was studying in the library, no one was teaching in the rooms. It was just... empty. It was a bit disturbing, and more then a little scary. The windows were all closed and had curtains pulled up, the only light in the rooms being the muffled light that peered through.
"Sir Chester! Sir Chester!" Lady Lucy yelled, her voice's volume amplifying with the echoes throughout the deserted school building. She sighed in aggrivation. "Someone open those Curtains!" She snapped, seeming a bit short on temper right now. The soldier from Caelin took this cue and hastily opened pulled the curtains open, letting more light in the room.
"Ah! Lady Lucy! How nice of you to join me." A voice said from the opposite side of the room. Suddenly, it was quite apparent that this classroom wasn't quite as abandoned as the rest of the school. It was a large, spacious room, made of stone with singe marks decorating the walls. In the center was a large circle, painted on the stone floor. Alongside those walls... were many many mages. Mages, Monks, and Shamans. Valcrist even spotted a cleric here and there.
"I knew it. When did you become a Sir Chester, Sparks?" She narrowed her eyes as she gazed at the sage across the room. The sage was a young man, probably about the same age as Lucy herself, with long black hair tied into a ponytail and a cruel look in his dark blue eyes.
He grinned like a madman, with his sharp angular face and hooked pointed nose. "Oh, that's simple Lulu. It was after I became master of this school." He shrugged like it was common sense.
"After you... What happened to Master Vera!?" Lucy shouted at the man.
"She was old. Old women die. You know how it is." He laughed darkly. "But I don't think that's why you're here Lulu. No, you want to know about the rumors against Pherae and if I'm really responsible. And yes, yes I am." He added before she could speak, her face stuck in a state of shock.
"But.. but... Why? What on earth could you possibly gain from doing this?! Lycia is in danger, we don't need people like you making it worse!" The battle hardened sage had been lost somewhere, and the teenage girl who once went here to study magic had come back.
"Why?... It got you here, didn't it?" He smirked, a single sharp tooth overlapping his lip. "You were chosen over me. You were chosen, even though I was by far the better mage! And now, now I'm going to kill you Lulu. Kill you and take the position the rightfully belongs to me!" He held a dark red book in his hand and stood ready to fire. "And when you're dead, Laus will take over as the head of the United Lycia! Not Pherea! Not you, but me!"
"Dammit Sparks..." Her voice solemn, she herself drawing a tome. He was crazy, none of this was though through. People can and probably will see this attack on her, there was windows right there afterall. People can hear it, people can see it, and he would be charged with murder, but he was too focused on revenge to even think this through. And his group? His group were blindly following their Master. She drew her own magic tome.
Valcrist was lost. What just happened? He held the hilt of his sword, ready to draw.
"Oh no, Lucy just attacked me! I have no choice but to defend myself. Come on men!" And with that the first firespell was flung.

The archer gave a sigh and turned back to her date with a smile. "We can worry about that later. Right now, I'm just gonna worry about you." She gave him a wink and giggled. She stared at him quietly for a few minutes, her face slowly growing redder. Finally, she knew what she was gonna say. "Kelvin..." She took a deep breath. "There's something I wanna tell you. I..." Before she could finish her thought, there was a large boom, followed by another than another. Chelsea jumped to her feet. "W-What's that?"

Kelvin listened closer as Chelsea talked to him. Was she about to say what he thought she was about to say? All of a sudden, a loud noise rang out. Kelvin leaped from his chair. "I'm not sure, but whatever it was, it doesn't sound good."

Things had gotten bad very quickly. Fireballs were flying through the room at insane speeds. Apparently the academy was mainly focused on Anima magic. All the better, what with Lady Lucy and Gabriel being mages themselves.
It was the first time Gabriel had to fight another mage, and also the first time he got to see Lucy in action. After a quick motion, half of the fireballs were simply sent off their paths, hitting the walls of the building. Gabriel tried to attempt the same with one going his way, but had to duck instead. He'd have to practice control over enemy spells lat-
A blinding light ball appeared in front of him, exploding into rays of light. Gabriel was sent back by it's force, hitting a nearby blackboard.
"Damn it" he muttered, getting up and pulling out his Fire tome. There were some light mages in here."Come from the depths of hell and bring forth a fiery rain!" he shouted, as two fireballs appeared above his right hand. He sent them full force towards the center of the room, aiming to hit the middle of the group. Success! A direct hit on the face of a man. It was impossible to tell just what the man was from his robes, though.
"Gabriel, your new tome!" Lucy shouted, as she made a fireball hit one of Chester's attacks.
"Get out of my way, Lulu!" Six dark orbs surrounded the Mage Knight, spinning around her, only to be stopped by two columns of fire sprouting from the ground. Gabriel stood next to Lady Lucy, with a huge ball of fire floating above his hand. As if throwing a rock, Gabriel pulled his arm back and flung it forward, letting the fireball loose. Upon contact with the ground, an even bigger column of flames sprouted below the mages, as most of them jumped away to avoid being roasted.
"Kraft won't name me king of Lycia if this keeps up..."

As the fight broke out Wyatt found himself diving around like a mad man to get away from the wayward magical energies. How was he supposed to get close to these people when they were all flinging flaming death all over the place. He was amazed the entire place wasn't aflame yet when he noticed that the fire did not catch, it merely scorched. So that was how magic worked...maybe? But Aaron had lit the woods on fire before...oh well, more impotant things to be concerned about.
Currently he was leaning against a book shelf, trying to find an opportunity to move out and advance on the mages, though he was finding it difficult with magic flying up and down the aisles. He then noticed, he was leaning on a bookshelf...in a row of bookshelves...that the mages were using for cover...
He planted his feet and pushing on the bookcase with all of his might, the wooden shelves creaking and groaning as he did so. Finally with a satisfying crunch, he felt the small legs give, and the case toppled over, starting a massive, person crushing, game of dominoes!

Chelsea looked up at Kelvin. "Come on, let's go." She hurried out of the diner, getting an arrow ready as she ran. She knew this couldn't be good. "Kelvin, hurry up!" She yelled back at the cavalier. She spotted a building up ahead, flashes going back and forth. "There!" She sprinted towards it, spotting Valcrist, Gabriel and the others as she got closer. Something was up, Gabriel wasn't a hot head and for him to use a fireball like that... It was bad. "What's going on!?"

Dodge the fire dodge the fire dodge the fire! He barely moved out of the way atleast three times. Fireballs exploded on the ground next to him, and almost took him out along with them. He's never fought anyone before... Not seriously anyways. His uncle sometimes sparred with him, but usually he just told him to leave because he was busy. Despite that, he had no real experience against someone who was out to kill him, let alone experience against a mage. He drew his blade from his sheath, something in the back of his head was disapointed that this was the situation he'd have to use it in. He half hoped it to be a super dramatic moment full of intense fighting, but instead it was a fight caused by some crazy mages.
The blade was of blackened steel, looking different from any normal slim sword one would see. If you took the time to really look it, you would see the engravings and patterns and feel the sheer amount of care put into crafting it... but this wasn't the time to go into detail. Today it was a tool of death, not a piece of art.
He dashed toward a mage, and sidestepped the incoming firespell that crashed on the floor beneath him. He held the sword with both hands, the weight a bit unfamiliar to his hand, he brought it up with a heavy stroke, but missed his target. The hopped backwards, out of the blade's range. "Dang it." He said out loud, but the mage doubled back and brought a fireball to his hands. Really? So fast? One... one swing? He shut his eyes tightly, waiting for the attack.
It never came. He opened one eye slightly to see a dead mage in front of him. "Wh... what?" He saw a soldier, full clad in armor, and blood on his pike.
"Watch what you're doing!" The soldier snapped before raising his shield in defense of a fire spell.
"R-right..." Valcrist muttered took his blade up, ready to strike someone else.
