Chelsea moved quietly over to Kelvin. She hovered for a minute or so before leaning in and whispering, "Can we talk for a few minutes?" She nodded to the door of the inn, showing that she wanted to talk outside, away from everyone else. He had to know, she thought. If she was going to leave the group, he needed to know and he needed to know why. She felt herself starting to shake lightly. Nerves. She knew this wasn't going to be easy. But she needed to do it.

Kelvin had been listening quietly to the conversation, when Chelsea had approached him. "Yeah, sure we can talk," he said, standing. Turning to those seated at the table, he added, "Gentlemen, if you'll excuse me," and he headed for the door. Opening it, he and Chelsea stepped outside. He turned to her and asked, "What did you want to talk about?"

Chelsea looked up at Kelvin, then down at the ground. As she toed at the dirt nervously, she thought over what she was going to say. After staying quiet for several minutes, she finally looked back up at her boyfriend again. "I..." She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, before looking up again. "I'm not going to Pherae with you." The archer knew her eyes were beginning to water, but she ignored it. "I... I'm going home. To Sacae. I need... I n-need to bury my dad." As it was getting hard to see, she wiped the tears from her eyes. "I-I need to do this, Kelvin... And..." She made she her eyes locked with his. "And I need to do it alone..."

Kelvin listened intently, never taking his eyes off Chelsea. At first he didn't know what to say. On the one hand, he wanted to know she was safe and to be with her. However, he also wanted her to do what she needed to do, and he had to trust her. "Alright," he finally said, "But promise me one thing. You'll return to me in one piece. I couldn't stand it if you were to get hurt. And remember," he said, taking her hands, "I love you." He kissed her on the cheek and smiled at her.

Chelsea gave Kelvin a watery smile back. "T-Thank you..." She sniffed and wiped her eyes just before Kelvin took her hands. She nodded as he spoke. "I won't get hurt, I promise." She smiled again as he kissed her cheek and she leaned on him softly. She knew her face had gone red when he said he loved her. She had never said it back to him before. "I..." She paused and looked up into his face. "I love you too..." She knew her face was even redder now but her eyes were determined. She needed him to know everything and that was part of it.

Gabriel nodded to Kelvin as he said he was going to leave for a few minutes, and saw Chelsea go out with him as well, all while listening to Morgoth's plan.
"A rebellion, huh? So they are attempting to free themselves from Ilia's control? Truth be told, I never understood why command of Bern was given to Ilia, given how far they are from each other and all. Wonder what the Lycian union was thinking then..." he said, somehow getting off track in there.
"I think the best idea is to get to Pherae, tell the marquess everything we know and go from there. If need be, we can get some soldiers from Pherae to go and help free Bern, or at least some scouts to assess the situation and get more info. Just where or who did you hear about this rebellion from?"
Gabriel couldn't help but feel that there was at least one more magic user in the inn than there was last night. He took a glance around, but the place was somewhat full, what with the inn doubling as a tavern. No face or clothing gave anyone away as sorcerers. Gabriel sighed, looking back at Morgoth, waiting for what the Shaman had to say about it.

Kelvin held Chelsea in his arms for a moment, savoring it while it lasted. He drew back after a moment, and smiled at her. "Well we should probably tell Gabe," he concluded, "Should I tell him, or would you rather?" he added, moving to he door.

"I'll do it, it should come from me, you know?" She followed him into the inn and made her way over to Gabe. He seemed to be in a conversation at the moment, so she just waited quietly for him to finish. In the meantime, she kept one of her hands in Kelvin's. As she always had everything packed, she would be leaving right after she informed Gabriel. So she wanted to hold on as long as she could.

Aaron had to admit, this Morgoth guy he'd been traveling with knew how to talk. He would probably agree right then to go and help, if he wasn't so driven to help his own country first.
That, and he wasn't really sure where he stood on the whole Bern occupation issue. He'd not given it much thought really. Illia had always seemed the more stable ruler, in his uninformed opinion. Illia seemed to function primarily off of business, and they could almost always be said to value whatever was best for their homeland. At least the honorable Illians.
"What if Illian rule is better; safer than the Bernese rebellion you speak of. Plenty of revolutions have gone sour, and ended in only more blood and anguish. It's written in our history books." The way he said this was not openly hostile. Instead, it was an honest question. While Illia controlling two nations resources could be seen as a threat, he couldn't help but question the motives of the rebels as well. There woud certainly be patriots, Bern hadn't fallen that long ago, but what if those who seized power were less desirable than their current circumstances?

Morgoth addressed both issues with efficiency. "A man by the name of Mertanel, a knight of Bern," he replied to Gabriel and then turned to Aaron. "But why would they rebel if Ilia was ruling correctly? Wouldn't they be happy? Besides, with Bern's battle prowess and Lycia's help it will be over quickly. Few will be hurt due to fear. Fear is always an ally when a quick and bloodless victory is needed. Besides, you idiot, he thought, thats the point.
"I don't mean to be rude, but I have one more thing to take care of before I go with you," Morgoth said. With a quick glance to the group he went back over to Kristoph. "Are those the men?" he asked, referring to the two men that had just walked in. "If so, could you introduce us? It's time to get to the square."

Mernatel walked into the inn just in time to hear a Mage give reason against rebellion. He walked up behind as Morgoth defended it. He slammed his fist on the table.
" Some people," he said, " Wnt a free Bern. Because we are people of a once great nation. Bern should be left to govern itself. Bern was happy the way it was. Bern will get Illia out rest assured. With your help or not. Morgoth I will be waiting in the town square." He walked away not angry but defensive.

Gabriel let out a sigh after that random knight had left the place. "As far as I'm aware, Ilia's rule is only in theory. I had heard that Ilia was quite permissive in general, even if they were changing some of the laws. The point of giving Ilia control over Bern was to avoid having another bandit uprising like what happened almost six years ago now*."
"I overheard a conversation my father had some years ago about this. Ilia had agreed to leave Bern after a set amount of time or once some conditions had been met, whichever happened first. I was caught and scolded before I could hear details on either of those, though."
"We should head towards Pherae and ask the marquess about what to do. It'd be wise to send a scout party to Bern and send some soldiers this way, to help protect the Lycian border from Etruria. After all, this is the closer place to Ostia, which is where they attacked last."
OoC: *About a "game year" should have passed since the beginning of this arc until this point. More or less, of course.

It was around this time that Chelsea chose to speak up. "Gabriel, I'm leaving the group for a little bit." She paused for a breath and kept going. "I need to bury my father. I don't know how long it'll take, but I'll come back after its all done. If there's anything in Sacae you think could be done, I can try to do that too. But, I'm letting you know, I'm not going back to Pherae with you all. I hope you understand." She then went quiet and waited to see how he responded.

"Oh...?" Gabriel said, as soon as Chelsea spoke. "I see. It's alright, Chelsea. Do what you must. If you run into your tribe, warn them of Etruria's recent movement. We want to avoid as much needless bloodshed as possible. Just promise you'll come back unharmed."
"What about you, Kelvin? Will yo go with her or...?" he said, not finishing his question.
OoC: Short post. Either way, we now have a spoiler function! I don't think it'll be of much use, but hey. It's not like it does any harm to have.

"No, I'll be staying with you, sir. We have our reasons," he said. Taking a seat at the table, he resumed nursing the ale in front of him. "As far as Bern is concerned, I can lead the scouting party. Kashmir is a very fast horse and I can get to Bern within two days," he said, leaning in towards the table.
