"So this is Pherae...." Aaron said as they rode along the dirt track. They'd made their way from Laus to Pherae. Before that, they'd come from Ostia, an before that, they'd been on their own separate paths.
Fable, the grey horse, that the mage ad purchased, had turned out to be perfect. He had a calm temperament which suited Aaron well, and he'd even gotten fairly used to the occasional practiced fireball, which was called up. Turning his mind back to matters at hand, he thought of what he knew.
Morgoth, a man named Kristoph, and several others were traveling on their way to Bern. Gabriel, and Kelvin were traveling to report back to the Pheraen Marquess, before probably going to help Morgoth in Bern. Aaron himself, wasn't sure what he was doing. Just traveling with the group to Pherae, he supposed.
"Pherae is the home of several of Lycia's most prominent heroes, as I've heard it. Sir Rayl, and I remember something about a knight by the name of Alexia being from here as well...."
OoC: Not entirely sure how well Alexia should be remembered, but as Aaron is a mythology buff, and that he views the Bandit War as a myth in the making, he'd have heard something.

"Wonder if Rayl is back...hah. Like anything would be able to keep him here for more than a day" Gabriel said laughing. And where the hell is Saffra? One would think that with a dragon roaming the world so freely, news of that would be everywhere...
"Either way, I'm heading to the castle. Kelvin, maybe you could show Aaron around. Take him to Rayl's ranch or something. Unless of course you two want to come along with me. I really don't mind either way" he said, commanding Starlight to lower to pace.
I should wait to hear the marquess' opinion and info on this before I make a move. It'd all go to waste otherwise...
OoC: Alexia was Marcus(FE7's Marcus) closest apprentice. And Marcus ruled Pherae at some point during the wars before. So yeah.

A young girl rushed by the group; having a large piece of meet clutched close to her battle worn clothes. Grasping her new food tight in her hand, she ducked behind a building close to them. Her blue eyes were large; she had just resorted to stealing her meal once more...
Pressing against the building; the freakishly thin girl began to bite into it furiously. Soon the man in pursuit of her gave up, and left, Sheala had won this round, and got to keep her meal. Meanwhile, the grumbling man cursed about not being able to catch someone as weak as that scrawny little sword girl.
Taking a deep breath; the myrmidon continued to try to make herself invisible; pressing against the wall until her back began to hurt. Taking a big bite from the large piece of ham she stole, she ate it ravenously, the dish disappearing in a matter of minutes.
Unhooking her canteen from her sword sheathe; she gulped water down ferociously; unaware of those that she had passed a short time ago were so close; she hadn't ran as far away from them as she had first thought.

"Hmm... Actually, I'd like to go and buy a few things. I'm going to be more prepared for the next trip I make. For one thing, a decent metal pan would help improve how the food tastes on the road... and I can think of a few other uses for it." His mind was wandering down the paths of what he'd been reading in his Elfire tome, and some of the chapters recounted experiments which called for some equipment, rather than merely the mage, his book, and his mind. "I'll meet up later, eh? It can't be too hard to find the local celebrity's horse ranch."
Smiling, Aaron and Fable drifted off a bit from the others. Let's see... A pan, some tongs, ingredients for making pitch, and some rags... never know when a torch may come in handy. That Kristoph guy got me in the mood for some tea. I should get myself some of that...
It was then that he noticed someone he'd seen go by a few minutes ago: A girl with long blonde hair. Some one had been looking for her, but apparently had not found her. Ehh... I'm taking things easy now. Why not stop for a little chat.
"Hey, someone was looking for you a moment ago." He spoke from Fable's back, looking on as she was leaning against the wall. She seemed a bit out of breath. A thought that maybe she was hiding from that person crossed his mind. "Did you know who they were?"

"Neverseenhimbeforeinmylife," the young girl says in one jumbled mess; her blue eyes pulsated, and her breath quickened; signs she was lying.
Finishing off the last of the large drumstick of ham; she rocked her arms back and forth; hitting the wall with the bone; she eventually dropped it, the thin girl looked the man who had confronted in the eye.
"Fine... I was lying. I stole that piece of food from him, because no one hands out food to refugees anymore. That was the first time I've eaten in a few days..." she murmurs.
Placing her hand on her hip; the teenager developed an attitude. "So what are you gonna do? Throw me in prison?" she asks, rather challengingly. Soon, her voice dropping to a sarcastic whisper. "At least they have food there..."

Morgoth and his men (Kristoph, Mertanel, Brent, and Graigor) had been but several minutes behind the others. But due to the fact that they had no horses, they had just gotten there.
"Where are you girl?" a man grumble. He stopped by an alleyway. "There you are! Your not getting away this time." He made a move past the man on the horse.
Hmm... Morgoth thought with a smile as he watched from afar. Wait...isn't that Aaron? He made his way over to the alley. There was a dirt-strewn girl with a wide look in her eyes.
"There's no need to be hasty," Morgoth said with a slight eloquence. "I'm sure this will be enough to pay for what she's stolen." He shoved some coins into the man's. There goes most of my pay from Richter.
The man looked greedily between the girl and the coins. "Y-yes. Ahem, yes, this aught to do. But don't let me catch her stealin' from me again!" He bumbled off.
"Hello Aaron. Have a nice trip?" Morgoth asked before looking toward the girl long enough to say," I'm Morgoth Animus, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Turned to look at the man who just confronted her about her trip. "Do I look like I've had a nice trip?" she asks; adopting her annoyed expression again. "Etruria attacks my home; and kills my father just as my mother sends me on my way with her staff?"
She shook her head vigorously. "Nay, nay, I have not had a good trip. Two years of wandering gets me this far on in my life. Begging, and then resorting to thieving. What good is a Myrmidon if they can't support themselves?"
Swiveling her head to look at the other man; she fixated him with her glare. "On second thought, I don't think I'll be going to prison today..."
Daring either man to make a move; she waited, hand on her hilt.

Aaron watched as Morgoth dealt with the man, who apparently had been the victim of a thieving. A thieving committed by the girl in present. The green-haired traveler hadn't pegged Morgoth as one to be charitable, but now it looked like he hadn't known the man that well. Looks like I should reconsider my first impressions.
"Better than the trip from Ostia." Aaron started to answer, when he was cut off by the girl. Most of what she said didn't, and wouldn't make sense without more background information, but Aaron still tried to pick apart what he could from it.
"Another victim of the Prophet. We have to bring that man down." Aaron said this quietly, almost as if he was speaking to himself, before continuing on, to the girl. "Pah! I'm not here to send you to prison, but thieving won't be good for your long-term health."
She looked tense, like she was ready to spring, and it was then that he noticed the blade she carried. It was then that he realized something else, as well. All the heroes and villains that were in the stories; all the adventures he loved to read of... They all could have began in a similar way. The Heroes and the Villains. Ultimately, they are both just people fighting. Different reasons, and different perceptions that people have determine which role they fill. He couldn't help but think that if this girl raised he blade to fight when it was uncalled for, she would begin the path of a villain, from one of those stories.
Even with this in mind, his guard picked up some, at her attitude. "I'm sorry for the loss you've taken at the hands of that man. Many in Lycia have received just as grevious a blow in the past few months, what with Ostia shattered."
He was sympathetic, but there were many people in difficult straights now, and many others intent on preventing the same from happening to them. There were many other feelings swirling in Aaron about all the trouble in the world: Confusion over Illia and Bern, Sadness at what he saw people being forced to do, whether soldier or thief, and even his own drive to grow in his skills and learn more about history, legends, and the world. "Where are you from?"

Aaron left, and shortly thereafter Kelvin decided to make his way to Rayl's ranch. He said that he needed to think for a little while, and that resting for a while would get him in top condition if they were to depart for Bern, as was Morgoth's original plan.
Gabriel made his way towards the castle, being given looks by the soldiers and generals around. No one even talked to him. Was it that he was back alone, without Rayl? Without Lucy?
I guess it should be expected. Rayl took me into his division and made me second in command the day we got here. I didn't even get to stay here for a whole day last time I was here...
Gabriel payed them no mind and made his way towards the throne room. The marquess was having a conversation with a few diplomats, which meant waiting for a while until they were finished. Once over, Gabriel was called over to the throne, as the marquess let himself fall on it. The man seemed sort of tired.
"Your name was...Gabriel, was it not? You were accompanying Rayl on his mission to bring Lycia together, right? Most of the squad arrived a few days ago, along with troops from Santaruz and Caelin and gave me a heads up of the situation."
"Your majesty" he said, kneeling. "Things are not as good as expected. We ran into insider people from Etruria while in Laus, which led to their magic academy to crumble. The blame was placed on us. Furthermore, the marquess of Laus was being fed lies by those. He was told that Ostia was unharmed, and there hadn't been Etrurian movements since early this year. Ostia is even worse than we had thought. The whole city was razed, and some sort of fort was built over it's remains. Whatever few is left is completely unusable."
"On top of that, some...wolf-like creatures have been roaming the hills nearby. Their are vicious and will attack upon sight. My arm was almost completely disabled by a single bite from one of them. They almost look like they are falling apart. They have little to no fur, their eyes are as red as blood and their claws are sharp like steel." Gabriel stopped to breathe and went on.
"Santaruz and Caelin were glad to help our cause, though. Rayl and Lucy decided to break apart from the division for the time being, believing they could gather more help by working alone. I haven't seen Rayl since we got to Caelin, and Lucy left while we were at Laus."
The marquess listened intently as the mage spoke. "I see. I will send an envoy to Laus and try to arrange a meeting to discuss matters. We can't stand alone in this fight."
"Given that they brought Ostia down, I believe their next target would be Laus since it is the closest establishment to Etruria after Ostia. It would be a good idea to try and send some reinforcements in case they get attacked if we are able to convince them to form a front. Oh, your majesty, I almost forgot. We were told that some groups in Bern were revolting, trying to drive Ilia out of their government."
"Yes, I was told not long ago by our border guards that similar news had made it there. We can't afford to send our troops to help, though. Most of our army will be spread throughout the Lycian cities to avoid a catastrophe if Etruria decides to make their move."
"If you'll allow me, I'll lead a few men to Bern myself and see if we can help in any way possible"
"Hm...Very well. You are to investigate the situation in Bern, and do as much as possible to avoid needless casualties. Understood?"
"Yes sir, I will. By your leave" Gabriel said, before leaving the castle and making his way towards Rayl's ranch. A few hours had passed by now since the Kelvin, Aaron and him had taken separate ways at the entrance of the city.

"Well, it's been a while since I've been back here," Kyo mused to himself. Heck, the last time he had been in Lycia, a very large man forced him to get teleported to the desert. Not the best of times, but that was neither here nor there.
The Lycian nations were Kyo's favorite place to be. So many easy marks, even during these tumultuous times. The smell of the city, the sight of a small girl cruising past on quick feet (and didn't that bring back some fond memories of his own childhood, even though he was at least half her age when he had those sorts of adventures?) with the curses of the man she stole from trailing behind her.
In fact, it was the memory of days gone by that piqued his interest in the whole scene. Kyo knew how to stay invisible, he kept a discreet distance from the girl and he saw that she had stood victorious over the man. Eating her recently acquired meal with the ferocity only the starved could recreate, Kyo's lips quirked upwards.
And then, as life often does, everything went to crap.
A man approached the girl, probably inquiring about her recent venture. Kyo resisted slapping his hand to his forehead, but only barely. It took the efforts of a second man showing up to finally appease the person the little girl stole from. In the form of coin.
Kyo winced. The bribe was far too much. Plus, the girl should have gotten away in the first place.
There'd be honor among thieves this day, even though the young girl was obviously not a thief.
Kyo started walking forward amiably, intercepting the main just as he turned the corner. A slightly nudging him to put him off his balance, Kyo's fingers darted into his pocket and withdrew all the coin that was just passed to him. This coin was tucked into his own pocket, quick as lightning.
"Sorry, sir," Kyo mumbled, with just the right tone of subservience and respect. After all, he'd had years to perfect it. The man ignored him and walked on.
Continuing on, he caught bits and pieces of the conversation. Something about a prophet. Kyo had little interest in the grand machinations of the world, he was just living life. Another bump, into the man who introduced himself as Morgoth this time, as he slipped the coins straight into Morgoth's hand. He was originally planning to keep walking, but he couldn't help himself and swung back around, stopping where he was.
"You know, you should really learn how to bribe. You far overpaid that man."

Sheala seemed to just stare at the green haired man who was speaking, until he asked a direct question. "I'm from Etruria," she says, in a melancholic murmur.
Turning to stare at the thief who just walked up, she shook her head. "That was a rather large amount of gold," Her pupils returned to their larger size, showing that she wasn't rather nurse anymore.
"So, at least I know there are a few decent people around here," she says to no one in particular, but mostly herself. Turning to peak out between the heads, she eyed the town square ominously.
Sheala stood there, watching. It was a debate; she was either going to run far away from this city, or she was going to stay here, and wait on a job to catch up to her.

Post by Kelvin H. Calderon on Sept 25, 2010 20:07:18 GMT -6
Kelvin had made his way to Rayl's ranch to rest up a bit and to do some thinking. His head was swimming with thoughts and he was finding it hard to concentrate. It had already taken him a minute to figure out that Kashmir had stopped and they were nowhere near Rayl's ranch.
"Kashmir, this isn't the ranch. What are you doing boy?" He asked his horse. Kashmir snorted in response and flicked is head in the direction of a rather comfortable looking meadow. "Oh, alright boy. We can go rest over there if you really want to." Kashmir snorted again and trotted over to the meadow and Kelvin dismounted and lay down in the grass. His horse dropped to the ground next to him and plopped his head in Kelvin's lap. The cavalier stared up into the sky and simply let his mind wander.
It went first to his siblings. He hadn't seen Merio since he had chased after Rayl, and Marissa... he hadn't seen or heard from her since the night of that vicious fight with father. While he was sure he would see her again some day, he was becoming increasingly worried about Merio. He was sure that his brother could take care of himself, yet he couldn't fight the nagging thought that something terrible had happened.
His mind went next to Chelsea and he could feel the weight of the small box in his pocket. It worried him to death that he didn't know what was happening to her, but he would have to choke it down. If he chased after, she wouldn't be able to trust him. He would just need to be patient and pray that she made it back.
Then a thought hit him. What was he fighting for? Sure, he had followed his heroic cousin into the military, but what was he really fighting for. Glory? He had seen the glory and fame that his cousin had received after becoming a hero. But as many people praised him, there were plenty of people would want to harm him. Kelvin really didn't want to bring harm to himself and especially to those he loved, Chelsea and his family. So what was he fighting for? The people. He was fighting to protect the people from oppression and whatever evils the Prophet brought with him.
Nodding to himself, he stood up and got Kashmir to his feet. "Come on, boy. Time to get back to the group." His horse snorted, but obeyed as the cavalier climbed onto his mount's back and the two headed back towards town.

Morgoth had been listening to Aaron's reply when the new girl butted in. She sure likes attention, he thought as he turned. But before he could retort Aaron did. And then things moved quickly.
First, a random guy came out of nowhere and handed Morgoth the few measly coins that he had paid to the butcher to win the new comer over. The man seemed to act as if he owned the world, like he was confident in himself. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't own the world, Morgoth thought to himself. Shall he become a slave or a dead body? He grinned.
"Thank you," he said to thief. He turned his attention to the girl. She had thanked him, which was what he had wanted. "It's nothing. In these dark times one must share their gifts." Morgoth laughed inwardly. Of course, they have no idea that my true gift is killing, and that I was brought into this world to bring the end.
OoC: Nice to see someone come back to the abyss. Unfortunately I'm slowly getting sucked in...

The mage didn't know what to think when the girl said she was Etrurian. That was the country that most of their trouble was coming from. Naturally, it put him off some, but if the girl's story was true, it only made his anger at the Prophet grow hotter. Part of him- the controlled, intellectual part of him, maintained a calm attitude, but a larger portion of him was wanting to go and blow off some steam....
A man showed up, returning a handful of coins to Morgoth. Aaron didn't really feel like getting offended, or pitching a fit over all the sudden thieving he'd witnessed, so he turned a blind eye, and resolved to remain unconnected with any of those events.
"Well Miss, public opinion of Etruria is probably not going to get any better any time soon. I'd advise keeping out of trouble and not letting it be known where you're from. There are those who would harm you simply for being from that... place."
Den of false teachers is more like it. He kept his thoughts to himself though. He had nothing against Elimine's monks, clerics, and bishops. He even thought of them as coleagues; as another form of mage: Light mages. But what this Prophet was teaching, encouraging, and doing was certainly not in line with anything he could support, and when it spilled into his own homeland, Aaron wouldn't stand for it anymore. That was why he'd decided to continue on with Gabriel's troop for the present.

Kyo waved Morgoth's thanks away.
"Please," Kyo said, "the only reason I returned your coin rather than keep it for myself is because she wouldn't have been found had that man accosted her at the tail end of her meal." He then had to suffer through the pleasantries of the others as they all thanked each other and were thanked. Kyo's interest was piqued when the green haired mage spoke. It was quite obvious, even to an untrained ear, that he had some unresolved issues towards the young girl's country of choice.
It was only a passing interest though, Kyo had half a mind to just walk away. But another passing glance at the young myrmidon had him remembering a similar looking young mage from times past. He looked down at the bag that was slung over his right shoulder and was currently hanging near his left hip. He'd grown so accustomed to wearing it, and he wondered where the owner of it had gotten off to.
Breaking himself out of his memories, he noticed the silence, looked between the two men, and promptly ignored them. He walked a few steps, getting closer to examine the young girl. A bit on the lean side, possibly from not getting enough to eat. However, if you looked past that, she was in quite good shape, looked to be quick. She had unassuming looks, easy enough to take people off guard. Her eyes were a bit bright, even during this time. She probably wouldn't be useful for night stealing, but...
She was obviously a beginner.
"Hey, girl," Kyo said thoughtfully. He tapped his finger to his chin twice, trying to figure out how to phrase the question. In the end, he decided to forgo tact. "How'd you like to become a better thief? Few days with me and you won't even get noticed next time." Kyo let out a cocky grin. "You could stand to learn a few things about lying, too."
