"Enough praying for now. We don't want to be left behind once the army starts moving again." Thamir exclaimed, seeing that the pink-haired girl and the robed man had stopped talking to Richter and the armored girl. They got up from their knees, dusting the snow off their clothes.
"The pegasus knight, the knight and that little guy on the pony...they seem to be the ones with authority here, alongside Richter." Max said just loud enough for Meredy and Thamir to hear.
"We might not know a thing about them, but remember, disobeying them might cost us our lives. Just go along with what they say for the time being."
"Okay..." Meredy said while looking behind her, her spirits down after reminiscing the slaughter they had witnessed moments ago.
"Just remember what we're here for, Miss Laplace. Once we get what we want, we'll head back towards Etruria."
Meredy simply looked at both of them, gave them a half-hearted smile and started walking towards the front of the army once more. It'd be wise to stay within eyesight of the commanders. After all, they had to gain their trust if they didn't want to be skewered like the men from before. Things would sort themselves out eventually. I hope

Richter watched as the dragons and Clair departed from the immediate vicinity, then took another second to eye the bandit-mercenary hybrid kid. Richter didn't like him, which was probably pretty obvious by now to anyone paying attention to Richter's annoyed facial expressions whenever he looked at the kid. The commander didn't really think he was much of a threat, if any, but the black haired youth still grated on his nerves. For a mercenary, he knew no protocol, and if he had signed up with bandits, it also meant he probably didn't have much of a head on his shoulders. Greenhorns at their worst.
Well, almost. Clearly, the pink haired swordsman didn't remember his time as a novice mercenary. Richter's first day working his first contract, he had punched out another greenhorn for making a wisecrack about the pink haired merc's mother, then picked a fight with the mercenary commander for calling him out on it. First day on the job; first day locked in irons. Second day wasn't much better. Hell, the whole first week was Richter getting his hard head into trouble. He was lucky he didn't get fired. His commander had just referred to it as a process of "breaking in the young stallion".
Richter was about to address Marle on her giving the kid free reign, wondering whether it was really a good idea to let him run around with a weapon, but was beaten to the punch by the kid mercenary himself. More questions. "Shut up for a second," halted Richter. This wasn't a request. "Now look, you're on thin ice here, bandit boy, so unless you want to get roped up and thrown on the back of a horse, stop asking questions. You're lucky Captain Daviau is even letting you walk. If it were me, I'd just leave you out in the snow." Richter shook his head. If he ever became a full time soldier again, he'd make sure he wasn't stuck as a drill sergeant. "You have a name?"

"yeah its Alaric, and your lucky i just got untied. Besides thin ice, look around were in illia. Where im from we greet people with a handshake not an insult." Alaric said boldly looking up at the mounted man. Then turned to the knight "Well, its Alaric nice to meet you can we go to wherever you guys are going i just want something hot to eat and learn to use this thing." Alaric said impaitently. "Theres a town about four miles up the road in case you guys didnt know about it." Alaric said trying to be helpfull and not make anyone more angry than they already were.

Marle knew almost right away after she had given the sword back, that Richter would have had an issue with it. He was harmless, and really, with the pace they wanted to keep, him being bound would have slowed them all down. Though, she guess she was more kind than leaving him in the snow, like Richter had proposed after grilling the boy.
However, she was unready for the boy to backtalk to Richter. She seemed a little amused, but was a bit more...upset...than she would have liked to have been. That was a veiled threat, there. Perhaps untying him and giving back his weapon was foolish. With a sigh, she rolled her eyes.
"ENOUGH!"
Marle rose her voice enough so that those further down the line looked up the line to see what was going on exactly.
"Boy. Watch yourself. If you need to ask if we're Ilian, then you've not recognized her banner. It's been flying this entire time. Now..."
Marle tried to calm herself down. She was tired, sore, and this was not helping a bit.
"We stop for no town until we reach our destination. I do not enlist. That is not my duty. You may...accompany us...until we come within distance of that town, and if you wish to leave, then do so on your own accord. If you continue with us, you will be respectful to your superiors. This man is one of them."
Turning so she had her side to Alaric, Marle touched her head. She could feel a pain coming. What a mess. What an annoyance.

Alaric didn't want to stay in that town and wasn't sure if he wanted to stay in Illia at all. And these people didn't like questions so he wasn't about to ask were to get employed."ill follow if you dont mind, not like i have anything better to do." Alaric said in a plain tone. He Wrapped his feathered gray bandana to his sword and put it back on his belt and walked toward the back of the line looking for a spot were someone had something hard to drink to forget about the past hour.

David saw the novice had finally left the presence of the 'almighty' commanders. "Hope you weren't expecting something to drink back here, this is an army. They don't allow soldiers on duty to drink. Then again, we're not soldiers." he offered a bottle of whiskey he had stashed in his cloak to the newcomer. "I take it that you don't know how to act in front of a commanding officer, do you?"

"Finally, someone who knows my language." Alaric said happily. Gratefully taking the bottle, downed a couple of gulps and handed it back. "yeah authority kind of annoys me. Im Alaric by the way, thanks for the drink." The now infamously named bandit-mercenary said with a sigh of relief.

"The name's David, Alaric. Looks like you could use some pointers on being a mercenary. Number one is that when you're in a military setting, be respectful to the commanders. Some of them aren't afraid to off you when they get the chance. If you wanna stay alive, know how to treat people with large egos right."
He took the bottle back and had a swig of it himself. "I'm not even under contract to these guys, but it helps to be nice to them so that I can get back to a city without any trouble."

"Nice to meet you." Alaric said through a smile. "Heh, yeah. I get a little tempered when I'm told what to do. Where are you goin'? I only plan on following this army because they look like they have seen some action, but so far they are a little too uptight for me." The swordsman added, tugging at his collar.

"Meh, I'll probably follow them for awhile." David responded with a straight face. It would probably be best not to have this kid hanging around him, that could cause all sorts of trouble for David. "That Pegasus chick's pretty hot, I'm gonna see if she's my type. There's also that cute Noblewoman we picked up, she's not going to stay here long either. She might need an extra escort to wherever she's going."
He thought for a short while, decisions, decisions. "I was in the army for some time, so I can handle it. You might want to jump the boat the first chance you get, though."

Clair turned as she rode after Marcus, and Fran, hearing some commotion back up at the front. That mercenary kid was talking back to her Commander. He didn't even seem very apologetic as he left and made his way back towards the back of the column. He seemed more disgusted than anything.
Clair's eyes narrowed. She was disgusted with him. She'd heard him, so boldly or foolishly had he said it, say that Illian's greeted with a handshake, not an insult. If Richter had insulted the kid, she could only believe he'd deserved it.
Clair dismounted from Corona, and moved to the back of the column, her pegasus following behind. There, she saw David, and the mercenary, drinking and chatting. "Corona, stay here." The great pegasus stamped his hoof a bit, but didn't follow any closer.
"You talked back to Commander Richter?" Her gaze was cool as she strode up to the black clothed man. Her gaze rested on David too, for his own irresponsible comments.
Sure he can handle it. She thought, mentally rolling her eyes.

Alaric thought about if he should leave but he felt a strong urge to stay. He always wanted to be better than his older brother. "I think I'll follow you if you don't mind. Hey, from one mercenary to another, I really don't know what I'm doing. I guess I could shut up and let you do the talking. I usually tend to make bad situations chaotic whenever my mouth's open." The swordsman chuckled, thinking about all the past experiences with family, friends, and just random Eturians getting himself into arguments or brawls. It all made him stronger, he thought.
"Hey, are you from around here? We're getting pretty close to the capital. I've only gone a couple of times, but it's an insane place to be."
Alaric looked at the girl out of the corner of his eye. "My mother was a pegasis knight, but the only similarity i see is the mount, not very noble actions for such a noble position." Alaric said bluntfully.
Turning to David thinking what happend to me shutting my mouth.

OoC: Gonna have to highlight this text to read it. Also, jst a reminder, Alaric. It's nothing personal, but there's no way Clair would let this go unchallenged. lol At least you play your character accurately. :)>
"My mother was a pegasis knight, but the only similarity i see is the mount, not very noble actions for such a noble position."
Clair felt her temper flare even more. He had about eight inches on her in height, but that didn't stop her. Clair stepped in quickly, and decked him, hard, right in the nose. No slapping from her. It wasn't gentle, coming from someone who'd trained for several years as an Illian Pegasus recruit, and then had a solid year of major battles.
"Don't you even talk about nobility to me." She hissed at him. "If you had any idea of what these soldiers had gone through... without quitting..... And don't think that just because your Mom was a pegasus knight, that you know what it's about." Clair was really getting riled up about all this now.

"Wow, Clair. I was this close to punching him as well. No way am I gonna let you travel with me, kid. I don't need women beating me up for your loose tongue." David thoroughly enjoyed watching Clair sock Alaric. Most interesting thing thus far, next to the bandit slaughter.
It reminded him of Maria, the woman who haunted his dreams. He fell silent yet again. Why he left Ostia, why he left the army. To get away from visions of his past lover coming back to him. There was no escape from her even in Ilia. David shook his mind clear, Clair wasn't Maria. Nothing like what happened with Maria would happen again, David had sworn it.

OoC: Thanks and no offence taken=)
Alaric hit the floor Wipeing the blood from his nose he stood up and smirked at the pegasis knight who stuck him in the face and said, "I wasn't doubting your skill only your reason" Alaric knew he had it coming by the end of the night either by his old 'Employer' or by someone looking for a fight in this army. He cracked his nose back into place and smiled at the girl. Wishing for once in his life he was a girl.
