Karina stroked Sascha's mane, silently telling her what a good job she was doing. She thought about what to do about this man. The Bernese people were not their target, and he was probably just some farm boy given a wyvern to help fight for his country. She decided that now the rider had seen the Lycian flaw behind her, it would be best to tell him off and head back to the fortress. "If you stop attacking me now, my commander and his archers will show you no ill will." she thought quickly, trying to come up with the best way to get all of them down safely. "Give me your weapon. I promise that if you do, I will protect you from any harm. I'm sure we could use one of the Bernese riders on our side." She put her own lance as far away from the rider as she could, showing him she had no intention of striking him. "Please..."

The hairs on the back of Alwin's neck stood on end. Relinquishing his only means of defending himself... to someone he had attacked, no less, wasn't something he considered a smart idea. However, he needed to make sure that his stupid mistake wouldn't result in Bern making another enemy. "I.... that's.... how can I...." The words couldn't form correctly in his mouth.
With a deep sigh, he decided perhaps speaking would only complicate things. He took his lance, and held it out, the point facing downwards.

Karina took his lance and smiled gently at Alwin. "Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you." she said, "now, follow me slowly, and I will signal to my commander not to shoot you." she added warmly.
She hoped that Rayl wouldn't be mad at her form bringing a potential threat into camp. She turned Sascha around and started to fly back to the fort, holding both her own and the rider's lance in the air, showing Rayl that the rider was unarmed and complying with them.

As the aerial dance continued the archers kept their watch on both the wyvern, and the hand of the paladin, which stayed raised in the air and at the ready. However, they stopped their deadly choreography, and Karina had returned down to them with both lances in hand. Thus instead of extending his hand forward to signal them to fire, he simply lowered it to his side.
At this signal the bowmen lowered their weapons, but kept on watch. In the mean time, Rayl looked to his right and smiled at the rider before giving her a pat on the back," Well done, Karina: Violence is always an option, but not always the solution...You there friend, come down here so we may have a word together as equals."

Friend...? Alwin couldnt help but feel... rather strange as the words hit his ears. He attacked unprovoked, and now he was being treated like an old acquaintance. As he slowly landed on the ground, he couldnt bear to look the man in the eyes. It was just too embarassing.
He dismounted, and stroked Karen behind the neck to assure her everything was alright. He stood by his wyvern and spoke, struggling to avoid eye contact. "I... I apologize. My actions were out of line. I was close minded, and only saw what I wanted to see. Please.... do not blame Bern for my misstep." He said sincerely, blushing a bit in embarassment.

Rayl, in the manner he was known for, merely smiled as he dismounted from his giant horse, and extended a hand," Fret not, Bern is in troubled times, and the Lycian league seeks to delve deeper into a solution, preferably one that prevents such desperate measures as attacking an allied country. I am Sir Rayl, Knight Commander of Pherae, it is a pleasure to meet a man such as yourself...I am sure you have meet Lady Karina here...and this is my Sir Kelvin the Bold." he waved his hand to indicate each person, smiling to the Pegasi Knight and then shifting to a smirk to his cousin: he was bold, that one.
a pause here as he examined the man, and his facial expressions, the way he shifted on his feet...
...to be honest, the irony of his wearing Barigan's Armor, which glowed it's usual hue, was not left un-noted as he moved his extended hand forward to pat the young man on the shoulder," You need not worry my good friend: if you seek Asylum from pursuers, or merely wish travel safetly within your own borders, you may accompany us...I cannot give you many details I'm afraid, but I am on a diplomatic mission to consult with the Emissary of Ilia, who watches over the occupation of your lands and skies."
Many always thought Rayl to be slightly crazy when he extended a hand to others to join him, whether it be a begger to a formal banquet, or an enemy soldier into his own home, it was just something that he did: heck it was how The Golden lance itself came to be what it was: from just another division under their commander, to a group of men and women of all walks of life...it was a miniature haven...if not for the patrols and bandits that had to be fought.

Alwin felt relieved that his assault would not cause retaliation on Bern, and even moreso when he heard that they were actively looking for a way to help his country. He slightly nodded to everyone as Rayl introduced them, but did not make eye contact.
However, when the subject of diplomacy with Illia came up, Alwin felt unsettled. It was a touchy subject with him, which was probably true for all Bernese citizens. "Diplomatic mission? You mean..... negotiations?" Perhaps Alwin assumed to much, or perhaps the word 'Diplomatic' automatically clicked in his mind as 'peaceful', which he felt any Bernese patriot would be insulted.
Alwin sighed. He contemplated keeping his mouth shut, but his patriotism was very overpowering. "I don't know... I've been outside of Bern for a while now, and even I cant stand the thought of putting Illia in a position to say they granted us a favor. Think of what those who have only known Bern as their home would feel about that. Many would rather fight. I cant say I wouldn't rather fight...."
"I appreciate your kindness when I warranted none.... and if you are in need of someone whose lived in Bern most of his life, Karen and I are willing to help... but that doesn't mean Im going to side with Illia if that is the 'wiser' solution. If it comes to that, that is when we part ways." Alwin finally ended, hoping that his words didnt make him seem more of a liability. From what he saw, though.... they were an honorable sort. He didn't think they would hold him as a prisoner if their goals were to clash.

Karina, though interested in the topic that was being spoken about, was currently more interested in Alwin's wyvern. She had seen the beautiful creature flying, and noting the subtle differences between her way of flight and Sascha's. Now she knew her name. Karen, so, obviously, a girl. Maybe she and Sascha would grow to be best animal friends! Karina was currently holding her hand out, palms up, for the wyvern to sniff, while crooning to it.
Some would call her strange. others, crazy. But she did indeed share a bond with all animals, most likely because of her early years living among them.

Ralph stayed on the pegasus, he noticed that Rayl failed to mention him, but Ralph was just a civilian, not a soldier. A wyvern rider, it seemed, was what attacked them.
In Ralph's younger years he had always wanted to be a wyvern rider, being from Bern, but that dream fell with so many others when his mom died. He sighed, didn't really enjoy bringing up old wounds, but that was his own fault, not anyone else's.

Rayl gave a nod to the Wyvern Rider, as he turned around to mount back up onto Elibe, then turned the horse about to face the mountain path, then shifted in the saddle so he could look back to face the rest of the group," We'd best move out then, we've lost time with this little episode...I'm sure we'll have to make camp in the mountains...I'm sure we have enough supplies for another guest." as much as Rayl would like (okay maybe not really...) to exchange extended pleasantries, they had a mission to conduct, even if it was rather open-ended.
OOC: bad post is bad, but it gets us moving. :/
