Marle kept her eyes ahead down the road, as they were now leading the small army away from the city, finally, on the road once again. She had been listening, though she gave this strange air like she wasn't, seemingly focused on other things plaguing her. Mostly this mission was her prime concern.
"Fair enough, I can have you resume those same duties, I have no qualms with that."
A smile perked her lips, and she had a small bounce in her step, despite the heavy armor. Having someone take up those duties would relieve a lot of stress, and hopefully the young strategist had better penmanship than she could muster. Everything looked like chicken scratch.
Looking back behind her for the time being, she noticed the rank and filed soldiers ad servicemen, and raised her hand, and motioned them to follow, and her lieutenants signaled down the line to follow.
"Come on, we head west, with haste!"

Garith nodded his head toward Richter understanding what he meant he then left out of the inn to g find and talk with the other soldiers. Not something that was really important but his Commander was right he should get to know the people he would be fighting with. The last time he saw the soldiers though they were at the tavern getting drunk. He wondered if they were still hanging around. Garith had found a few soldiers talking amoungst themselves. He walked up to them, introduced himself and told them he was a new mercenary that Commander Richter had just hired.
"Oh great a mercenary and this one was just a kid!" The skinnest looking one said. Garith gave him an angry look. Kid? Garith maybe young be certainly not no little kid. He didnt say anything though he just stood there quietly.
"Look at that huge sword he's caring around," Another one behind Garith had said admiring Fenrir. Garith had turned around to get the man from staring at his back.
After a few moments of akward silence Garith had told them he had to go and he went back to the side of the inn where he had been resting before. He didn't really care much for the other soldiers but if he had to work with them he had to so he would help them out if they needed it. Now Garith sat where he was before waiting for something to happen.

Mavick nodded. "As you wish, Lance-Captain." he replied. Well, it looked like Mavick was a Staff Officer again. Though unlike Richter's ragtag militia, this was an actual military troop. "I probably should have asked before, but where are we going?" Mavick asked.

Marle just smiled back at Mavick, hadn't he heard her? Guessing he hadn't, somehow, she gave a mall shrug of her shoulders, and allowed him to catch up a little bit, showing him the message hat she ad received from the girl that had handed her the communique.
"West, Mavick, West."

"Well, yes, I know that much. But where are we-" Mavick stopped to read the message. "...Oh. Well, that's uncomfortably vague, isn't it?" He commented. "Allright then, west it is." Mavick replied.

Whether his reasons valid or no, Mavick had left and that's the way it was going to be, so Richter found no offense in Farlus's comment. Instead, he simply eyed Garith as the mercenary turned and walked out the door, completely ignoring the silver haired man as the mage introduced himself. The commander couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for his new staff officer, as well as see a bit of himself in the distracted younger man. Richter sighed. It seemed that he identified with all of the negative aspects of his younger mercenary recruits. He always had been kind of a problem as a youth.
"I think he ignored you, Farlus," he said, mercilessly pointing out the obvious. "Perhaps you should keep the introductions shorter when it comes to the newer ones. They have the attention spans of gnats." Richter looked at Farlus sympathetically. The man was trying so hard to fit into Mavick's shoes while at the same time wear his own larger boots, figuratively speaking of course. "I'll give you points for the effort, though."
His mind changing subjects, the Ilian scanned the tavern. It was empty, save for the two of them and the older bartender. Without the numerous, drunken men slung around the room, the building actually looked quite nice, for a tavern that is. He thus turned his head and looked out the door. There his men were lined up and mulling about outside. Seemed as though his orders had been followed quickly enough, Mavick or no. "Well, if you're done introducing yourself, we're heading out."

Farlus' spirits plummeted when the young man completely ignored Farlus. Not even a passing nod to confirm that he even existed. Well that was fine, he realized. He didn't need recognition from some random recruit. Though he didn't feel like it, he did have an important job. In this group, he was suddenly an important member. It would take a while to get used to that, but the thought definitely helped him cope with what just happened. Besides, if the young man was to accompany them, Farlus would have his chance to see him again.
"I suppose you may be right, Commander." Farlus responded with a heavy sigh. This persona he had developed for himself was quite long winded. Perhaps brevity required at times. The mage noticed the emptiness of the tavern so he stood in the doorway instead of following Richter into it. The swordsman called to him once again.
"I am ready to leave whenever you are, Commander. Damn the snow and damn the wind, we will brave these mountains and be on our way." Farlus responded with a bit of poetic flair. He crossed his arms and awaited his commander's exit.
