Here's my second try at an RP board. Here's hoping it goes over better. :/ warofsteel.proboards.com/index.cgiFeatures: - Giant robots! - Takes place on Earth in the year 2145. - Cursing allowed! And I mean the really bad words, too! - Six factions warring over the Earth, each with different goals. - Mercenary companies that work for the highest bidder. - Skills system that's similar to D&D and other Tabletop RPG games that gives a solid representation of your character's abilities and knowledge. - The ability to make literally any kind of character you want, even a completely in-effectual civilian. Just no wizards. This is sci-fi, not fantasy.

Hate to start my return on a sour note, but it is my way.
I was interested by this concept, so I clicked the topic. And instantly I was disappointed. Any RP that has to advertise that you are allowed to curse as a 'strong' point is still in the 'High School god moders' stage of development. Nothing personal, but that line in particular turned me off to it almost instantly.
And I love Giant Robots.

Actually, I agree with Aerious about the fact that it's a turn off. I just don't see cursing as something that needs advertised. That being said, I highly doubt that Tir will be godmodding over there. Also, the site's plot is put together nicely, and the story is portrayed well to those who will read it.
It's a good piece of work, BUT you will have to decide if you can stomach the fact that swearing is there.

I agree with Aaron here. I haven't really read anything on the site yet, but I'm sure it's well put together. As for swearing, don't advertise that as a high point. At most, put it in the rules that it's allowed. I enjoyed a well placed swear or too in writings, but don't advertise it or they'll be heavily overused.

I put it there because so many RPs do not allow it. You don't have to have your character curse if you don't want to. Yes, my first character is a vulgar braggart, but Aaron's character is pretty much the complete opposite. It's more there to stress that this is an anything goes, as close to the real world as possible RP than a stand alone feature.
I understand that some people dislike cursing and that's fine. If you don't like that kind of stuff then by all means pay no attention to the site. But just because I allow it doesn't mean it's a low quality RP and I am honestly a little bit annoyed that someone would jump to conclusions like that.
As for the swears being overused, it's in the rules that too much will result in punishment.

It's not that I mind cursing, my characters do it all the time.
It's just that quiet often people seem to view excessive cursing as 'mature' or 'not kiddy' rps. And that thought process, very prevalent on proboards, is something I do not enjoy. A character can be mature without cursing every line of dialogue. And while we all understand this, a lot of novice RPers do not.
