Lilith mulled around the foyer of the abby for a bit, trying to decide what was best. Should she show her face to the guards? Some knew her from childhood, and had seem the marks she wore while Arum possessed her. Maybe if they saw her now, they would know that she was herself and under control... Then again, they might attack on sight.
She threw her trepidation to the wind, took a deep breath, and stepped outside for the first time in weeks. She walked, wordless and composed, stopping next to Aaron. "As the accused, I demand that my companion's wishes are seen through. He is an expert on magic and can explain what happened in Worde." she said calmly.

Aaron felt the urge to smile as Lilith referenced him as an expert on magic, but suppressed it. Whether he could be considered an expert or not, he appreciated the confidence she had in him. Now just didn't seem the time to stop and thank her for it though. Or debating it.
The soldiers tightened their fists around their weapons on seeing the shamaness, but otherwise made no hostile moves. It looked like they were merely here to keep her from leaving, for now.
[Red]"You need to go back inside."[/Red] The guard's voice wavered a bit as he said this though. Whether fearful or sympathetic, Aaron couldn't tell, but he didn't seem to be relishing his duties at all at this point. The green-haired sage felt some sympathy for the guard who had to deal with them.
[Red]"You both should."[/Red]
"Well, we're not going to do that...." The sage watched the pair of guards for any sudden movements now. He wasn't being very cooperative, and he was about to give them more reason to think of him as a troublemaker.
"Look. Asking to speak to your captain was a matter of politeness. You can either help me by taking me to him, or you can step out of our path." There were half a dozen different ways he could use to deal with them if a fight came of this. Some of them more violent than others. For now though, there was nothing to be done but wait for the reaction.
They started walking, the annoyed guard taking the lead, and his partner falling in at the back. Seeing what was going on, another couple of guards joined the small march as well. They were heading towards the nearest city, he realized. Hopefully they wouldn't be going in too far.
While the guard was definitely unhappy, he did realize that he was staring down a pair of talented mages with only another soldier present to back him up. Also, they seemed undeterred by the thought of forcing their way past. He and the others would be in trouble if they took the prisoner anywhere, but not taking them in this situation would probably get him in worse trouble when they just walked off.
"Let me give you a clue." Aaron spoke up again after a moment. "Taking us will let you continue your duty to guard Lilith until you're superior is present as well."
[Red]"Fine! But I'm not sure what you're expecting to get from this."[/Red]
Neither am I.... He had hopes, but expectations? He had very few from this meeting. Just that he was planning on Lilith and himself walking away from it.
They started walking, the annoyed guard taking the lead, and his partner falling in at the back of the little march. A few more guards started to fall in with them, as the others noticed what was going on.
[Red]"Run ahead and tell Captain Kellen what's going on."[/Red] The talking guard's partner nodded and ran ahead at that, leaving the group behind to spread the news. Aaron wasn't concerned. And if this Captain Kellen came out of the city to meet them, then that would potentially save some heartache all around.
[Orange]"Would someone tell me just what is going on?! Beckett! What are you doing leading them out here?"[/Orange] The voice came from up the road, where a man in heavy steel armor could be seen coming their way. A number of similarly armed guardsman were following him. Enough to boost their confidence, at least.
[Red]"They insisted on seeing you, Captain."[/Red]
[Orange]"Ugh... So I've been told.... Well, here I am. Mr. Winsett, Ms. DeGarte, I'm Captain Kellen of Worde's guard. I hope you aren't merely wasting my time."[/Orange] The Captain had a curious personality. Rough and amused. Exasperated, obliging, and in charge all at once.
"I share the same hope, Captain. I'd like you to release Lilith."
[Orange]"Oh, well, if that's all, perhaps you'd like some gold and supplies to speed up your travels?"[/Orange] The man stood straight, looking at them with a deadpan expression that made his sarcasm obvious.
[Orange]"Sorry son. I can't do that. And if that's all you had to say-"[/Orange]
The sage shot a protective hand out, gathering attention from the guards clustered around, and urgently speaking up to keep the Captain from ending the discussion.
"It's not. You have the wrong person. It's difficult to explain, more difficult to accept, but Lilith was not the one doing those things!" As the eyes of the soldiers were on his face and outstretched hand, the Green haired man slowly slipped his hand into his travel bag, feeling the tomes there pulsing with arcane might. It was so tempting for him to simply do something to incapacitate these guards and leave, but he wasn't quite to that point yet.
[Orange]"You're going to tell me the same thing that Eve woman told me, aren't you.... What's an ordinary soldier to do these days...."[/Orange] The Captain frowned and scratched his head as he sighed to himself.

Lilith stayed silent, her face downcast. She didn't have the heart to face these men head on. She knew what Aru had done in her body, and she knew that, deep down, some part of her wanted to pay for the crimes of another... Just to make sure it would not happen again. So Lilith pitied herself, and looked at Aaron. Then it was clear.
She knew how selfish she was being. Here was a young man, one who had only known her briefly, who had given up everything he was doing to come save her. She would not let him down. She would not be held back by these men. Lilith knew the only way to repay Aaron was to help him in whatever he was to do from this point on in his life. She would never leave his side, never question his judgement, unless it was so blatantly false.
"The day of the ordinary soldier is over," Lilith spoke. She raised her head, and looked the captain in the face. "It is this time in the history of all the lands that the ordinary men and woman much rise to greatness. There is magic and chaos everywhere, permetaing the air and soil. This is no time for idle squabbling, no time for disbelief.
"I Lilith, DeGarte, was controlled by a demon. An ancient sorceress of a forgotten race, bent on destroying every human she came in to contact with. I fought, but I lost. She took control of my body, and many times, tried to corrupt my soul. Aaron Winsett, this amazing, beautiful man, saved me. he risked everything for me. Do you truly wish to sully his sacrifices just to stick to your own preconceived notions of the world? Please, Captain Kellen, hear us out. We are trying to unfold the mysteries of magic, so what befell me cannot happen to any others." Lilith finished, dramatizing the last bit, but hoping her speech would hold some ground. She seemed to be making a lot of speeches as of late.

Being called an "amazing and beautiful man by Lilith left Aaron feeling a bit embarrassed. He'd known the danger that he'd faced. He knew that what he and Lilith had experienced was unheard of. He'd just done what he'd thought was right at the time, thanks to the help of several people he'd met along the way. Hearing Lilith put it the way she did made him realize just how she saw his actions though. She made a point that he could see the truth of, speaking with conviction. Any mages with enough experience would need to begin looking for ways to fight spirits like this. Thank goodness that things like Arum Lily were so unheard of.
The Captain listened to the blond haired shamaness' speech. With his face, it was impossible to tell if he believed them or not. He seemed completely unmoved by her message. He closed his eyes, before looking down for a moment, then looked back up again.
[Orange]"Whether I believe you or not, is inconsequential, really. If I did help you escape, I'd still be held accountable, and I had nicer plans for retirement than sitting in a jail cell during my twilight years."[/Orange]
The man shook his head again. He hated complex situations. [Orange]"...You mages and your mysteries... I have a nephew in the business. For all I know, you're telling the truth, but for now, I'm going to have to insist that you return to the chapel and stay there. I'll do everything I can for you from my office though."[/Orange]
Not good enough... Such were Aaron's thoughts, but outwardly, he was more agreeable.
"And, how long would that take, Captain?" After speaking, he started accessing the power from one of his fire tomes. He knew it through and through, but the spell he started weaving around the men surrounding them was a complex one, with very little margin for error. It would take time to become effective, so he would have plenty of chances to readjust or stop before hand, but he needed to start this now for it to work.
[Orange]"It depends. The people making these decisions are fickle. Some days, they decide quickly. Sometimes they take months.... 'financial benefit for the province' tends to speed things along though, most times."[/Orange] Captain Kellen seemed to laugh a bit at this. It was always the money around the men he had to deal with.
[Orange]"I hope you're planning to continue to cooperate. It would just add to the troubles to resist."[/Orange]
"And you can't promise us you'll succeed at getting her cleared?"
The older captain shook his head, answering with a definitive air. [Orange]"Nope."[/Orange]

Lilith always hated politics. Bureaucracy just slowed everything down to a crawl. As an apprentice, she was there when the elders of her school voted on a new archmage. The session took almost an entire day! Speeches, recounts, revotes, it was maddening. Lilith tried to stay calm, but her annoyance caused a crackle of energy to writhe from her hand, dancing up her arm and thretening to get loose. With a yelp, she directed the energy up in to the air, sending a bolt of darkness into the sky.
"I... I'm sorry," she said to both Aaron and the guard. "I didn't mean for that to happen... My type of magic. I need to go, I have to meditate so it doesn't happen again... Forgive me."
Lilith left, heading back in to the abby. Instead of meditating, she lost it and punched the wall. Instead of the stones breaking her hands, a magical burst of energy warped the stones. They didn't explode, but rather, bent around her hand. "Ugh, I suck." she said to herself. She immediately sat down and tried to reign in her feelings, reciting an old poem in her head to clear her mind.

Everyone jumped a bit as Lilith let the black bolt loose into the sky. Even she herself. Aaron felt like doing the same, but had his mind on other business, such as attuning his spell. On seeing her turn and go back to the abby though, the green haired man let his magic fall unused, and turned to Captain Kellen.
"Thankyou for trying for us, Captain. Please hurry." With that, he turned and followed Lilith, along with the guards who had escorted his friend and he to the meeting.
On arriving back in the church, he didn't follow Lilith back to her room immediately. He'd told Lilith they were leaving, and he had meant it. Instead, he stood, watching the pair of guards through the window, and pulled his elfire tome free. With fewer targets, and without the need to hide it, bespelling the two guards would be simpler, if not faster.
Taking his time, he laced the pair of guards with small traces of fire lines, feeding power from his Elfire tome into his spell pattern. He was creating an energy burn. One far slower than any fire. It was something much closer to the transfer of heat onto an object through sunlight, but this wouldn't feel like a warm day. He could feel it working, draining strength from him faster than a simple fireball would. The processes he was managing to keep it burning, and prevent igniting the men was far more than the typical spell people thought of. He was effectively heating the men's blood in their veins to simulate fever. Hence the care he was taking. After a few minutes, the sage could see it was taking effect on he and Lilith's "friends" too. Standing became difficult, and they were sweating heavily. By now, it was too late for one of them to go get help. They were both ready to collapse.
Once they went down, he cut off his spell and took a deep breath, relaxing to recover himself a bit. He turned and walked back to Lilith's room then. Now was the time to act.
"Lilith, the guards out front fell asleep. I hope you didn't unpack." He poked his head into her room, his voice sounding very matter of fact. It sounded rather comical, actually. "Ready to make a run for the hills?"

Lilith awoke from her trance to Aaron telling her they were getting out. She had awoken refreshed, and had been thinking of her own method of escape. The idea had come to her during her meditations. She would use her magic to sort of teleport Aaron and herself through the ground. Sort of like a basic flux attack, but carrying people through the ground as well as energy. She would try it if all else failed.
"I am ready for anything, unless it involves hurting anyone else," she stated matter-of-factly. She threw her bag on her back and smiled at the sage. "let's go, then?"

OoC: FYI for people reading this. Creative thinking is cool, but you need to hit a pretty high level of expertise (promoted class) to pull off some of these ideas, and they need to have clearly established limits. Magic is cool, but there's very little shown in-game besides basic spells. Basically, tricky magic is moderated to keep it from getting completely overpowered. There has to be a balance.
BiC:
She'd been meditating. He'd seen it on occasion, but the idea had never rested well with him. Not in the conventional clearing-of-the-mind sens of the word, at least. Sometimes he would meditate on issues, problems, or thoughts, but that was a form of deep introspection. One that frequently helped him come to a better understanding. It might not be a bad idea to stop and think about everything that had happened, recently. See if anything from all his disjointed factoids came together into a mosaic of past knowledge.
With a nod of his head, and a slight movement of his hand, he signalled that it was time to leave.
"We have time, but little to spare. We should hurry." The sage took a brisk pace, exiting Lilith's room, then the church, and walking right out past the two men, still unconscious or groaning on the ground. They would right themselves shortly, with the problem leaving, and only be a bit weak for a couple of days, or so he expected.
With a flourish, he opened his hand and extended it towards the ground near the soldiers, channeling a bit of power from his fire tome.
"Don't come after us." There was a rush of flame, and when it stopped, The words he'd just spoken had been burned black across the ground. He just hoped that no unfixable problems came from all the racket this would cause.... What would his Grandfather have done?
"Lilith, we should get off the road for a few days. The mountains and trees in Northern Lycia have enough hiding places and small towns near them for a tentative destination, but after that...." He looked at her, at a loss for words.
"We should get moving. I don't know how long I can march for today."
